Part 5 is the worst written part by a mile. Don't get me wrong, I love the concept, I love the character designs, and I love the fights, HOWEVER.
It has worse pacing than part 3 by not giving any characters (besides Bruno and Mista) enough time to shine and glossing over TWO DEATHS
It focuses too much on 1 on 1 fights/tag teams so the characters don't interact enough during the fights which is where Araki is best at characterizing relationships leading to all fights past Illuso (besides Ciocollata) not feeling as meaningful. It also really restricts the ends of the fights which is why they all end very similarly instead of the typical bizarre Rube Goldberg machine victories the rest of the series is great at.
Third, only Bruno gets a character arc. Trish starts her arc but never gets a chance to finish it, Mista stays the same character throughout the part despite getting the most screentime, Narancia gets two fights alone where they just brute force their way through and don't do anything unique and ||dies just to give Giorno back his body for the climax||, Fugo duh, Abbachio has two amazing fights they participate in at the start and then are just used as a plot device the rest of the time ||until Araki decides to kill him off cause he doesn't have a use for them||, and all the villains die when they're introduced do they never get the chance to be anything more than a villain of the week.

Diavolo is the dumbest villain, I like his symbolism yeah but he's genuinely dumb besides battle IQ and the final fight with him was so wasted. They had everyone in one place to have a final fight where everyone gets a chance to shine and instead kills off a character at the start making it less dynamic, has them SEPERATE to kill Silver Chariot and add a specific way for it to be a 1v1 instead of the team effort it should've been, and then it's a game of catch ending in a deus ex machina. Don't get me started on how stupid GER is.

on paper, sure, but Pucci is the most clear case of shit execution I can think of, he isn't evil for no reason, but before its revealed that he's chasing a perfect world, he gives up any chance to show morality past weather report, and because of that and his inability to earn the progress he makes feel less calculated and more pointless

And I wouldn't say he's psychologically rich, slap his personality and backstory onto a side villain and he's just a hypocrite plain and simple, Araki doesn't do anything new or interesting with the ideas pucci represents, so everytime he appears it feels like we're taking away from the fun just so we can build up the overarching plot

The only reason i think GER and WOU are above is because any intentions of harming WOU would create a calamity preventing you from doing anything.

Something similar could happen with GER when trying any attacking actions.

Then theres scaling stuff from either Araki or the guidebooks stating they have the ultimate and most unbeatable abilities
