If you wanna take the scientific route, not quite eyes on the back of your head, but the ability to see behind you is an evolution most commonly found in land prey, like certain deer for examples. They have a veeery wide spread view to the point where they can basically see behind them. We dont have it because we are technically predators (dr disrespect reference!!) And because of that we need to see more detail. So basically, we happened to choose detail over a wide view
