I think it's because that is not the purpose or duty of Black Sabbath.
The purpose of Black Sabbath is to bring out stands or to killthe unworthy.
So, converting to Requiem didn't happen because of that.
DP should have changed this scene a bit imo.

I'm curious about why araki introduces so many abilities for the characters (ex: star finger or kakyoin's painting) that later on in the story won't be used and will just be forgotten

The steam in that scene and with silver chariot is the same interestingly. I think there's a few possibilities:
- it depends on stand to stand for how much you have stab it. silver chariot needs a lil scratch and gold experience needs a full on stab.
- It depends on if you're stabbing yourself or someone else is stabbing you, the problem with this one is we get that steam coming from gold experience and black sabbath is the one stabbing him.
- It's just some sort of tease for requiem. Simple as that.
- Araki forgot, or was fully aware and didn't care. Which is OK, some of my favorite stories have flaws.
