I think it’s pretty good, it’s not amazing but I feel like it’s more stylized and visually interesting than most other current SJ titles. And the world still feels interesting, a series dies for me when I see the edge, the extent of how far they’re willing to extend the scope of the story. My Hero Academia for example.

the issue isn’t that it doesn’t try to be anything more, it’s that the subplots it introduces aren’t really engaging enough to maintain interest. at least with stuff like Kubo San it’s more obvious that the author knows exactly what she’s going for and doesn’t try to make things more complicated than they have to be

towards the later chapters Shikimori has like, stereotypical high school arc after stereotypical high school arc and it becomes really boring

occasionally they’ll introduce a new character that doesn’t add hardly anything to the cast and they’ll have an entire arc dedicated to them anyway like idk

i don’t think the series is BAD per say but the comedy and slice of life stuff aren’t entertaining enough to maintain my attention and although i like that they skipped the whole “will they/won’t they” dynamic by just starting the series with the main couple already dating, doing multiple story arcs where they aren’t really aiming for anything kinda makes it lame to me
