i both really enjoy this series and think the narrative here is dumb as hell

like idk if i’m reading this wrong but i feel like it’s trying to play this “both sides have flaws” and they’re trying to play the humans off as like, irrational and racist (speciesist really), but so far it hasn’t felt like it’s actually evenly matched & maybe that’s because i’m approaching this story from the right angle (and i’ve got about 80 more chapters to go still so idrk), but like damn

like if it were just “we hate the ghouls because they’re different!” then yeah that’d be one thing but the ghouls feed solely off humans. even the pacifistic ones (as far as i know) need to eat humans to survive and are indirectly threats to them, so it’s in the humans’ best interest to fight them

like again, if IRL we were smaller in the food chain, second place to fkn bears or some shit (and in this hypothetical bears ONLY feed off us), it would be really stupid for us to not want to at the very least keep bears away from us if not just straight up killing them

like when that ghoul says “i just want to live like you guys!” i feel like it’s supposed to be some kind of wham line but it’s like. yeah tough shit but you’re in a catch 22 where if one lives the other dies

not that this is a bad idea for a series or that this series is bad by any stretch, i’m enjoying it, but i feel like the angle the author is going for here just doesn’t land for me

14 chaps into Ayashimon I don’t really understand any of the hate it’s gotten (even if that is from a vocal minority) My only gripe with it’s probably the pacing of things sometimes and it’s alright so far. Kaku seems like the type to have his series go on for about a 100 chaps like he did for Jigokuraku. Other than that, Maruo seems dope as hell and Urara plus each of the factions that split after Kiohs death were a great foundation to center Maruos goals/intentions around.
