Now, imagine seeing both of your parents being murdered in front of your eyes, being kidnapped, almost raped and losing all hope of staying alive. Mikasa suffered enormous trauma, but when Eren saved her, a stranger at the moment, she felt protected, she found a ray of sunshine in that cruel world. ||And even in the final page of the manga, she herself remembers how much that moment when Eren wrapped the scarf around her neck made her feel safe again.|| Mikasa has always protected Eren because he was the only family left to her. Losing Eren would have meant losing everything she had. Eren was her reason for living and her only family.
I hated Mikasa too, and I thought she was just a slave, but then I realized how much events had affected her and how much a single person could have changed her life. ||Eren asked her to move on and forget him, but she refused.
