his style of fighting is just taking hits and throwing even bigger hits

eden’s zero anime finished and it’s biggest problem is that Mashima is a bad writer

Every time something cool happens Mashima always makes sure to follow it up with something stupid

and to be honest it’s not even just the “power of friendship” shit to me

that doesn’t even happen that much

it’s just how clumsily they handle darker topics

like there’s a character that was ||betrayed and then brutally tortured for 2 years straight, to a point where she was implied to have gone insane, and within 2 days of meeting the MC and his crew all that trauma is gone and she’s all smiles||

character has years of abuse from people they trusted
mc comes up and says “not all people are bad” a few times
trauma gone entirely

like what

the fuck lol

also like, the whole plot line with Homura’s mom was a massive letdown, || rather than give an insightful backstory as to how Kurenai got to be the tyrant she is, Mashima just lazily makes it so that she was actually just evil the whole time? And Kurenai just kinda, got to where she was without any issue? Lol||

||like she never cared about Homura, fine, but whyd she buy her a doll lol. like yeah it could be just a lazy parenting attempt but like, it just feels like a lazy cop out to just make her 100% evil when you could’ve made a nuanced antagonist||

also there are scenes when characters either get ||sexually assaulted or at least implied to have been, || and then immediately after that there’s a corny fan service scene complete with that “Wowwww :O” sound effect

it just doesn’t work at all, complete tonal whiplash and it just makes it look like Mashima actually has zero capability to write serious shit

anyway TL;DR Eden’s Zero was super disappointing to me

I have a love hate relationship with that arc, wouldn’t say i really disliked it though

but it’s understandable if some folks did

There's a lot for me to love about fullbring arc

First because it's all about ichigo, even the first chapters of bleach I can't say are ichigo-centric, only parts of it, but this arc is just for ichigo to have

And another is that the 1v1s against the shinigami just kinda showcases a feel for their level of strength that isn't unfathomable, like a realistic showing of how weak humans are compared to them or how strong the shinigami are

Granted they are lieutenant and above, but the xcution really thought they had a chance at all when reality is, their opponents don't even need to get serious

It's not a groundbreaking arc and that's what I like about it, after the calamitt that was aizen, kubo could have taken the usual shounen route of showing and even bigger threat taking aizen's place,powerscaling the story(which he still kinda did) but instead inserted a "down to earth" arc which I find really nice
