so most readers already had a set idea of "X has to happen, or otherwise this story is ruined"
and as expected, the ending was unexpected
so a lot of people felt like it was 'bad writing' because it didn't fit with their interpretation of the story
which is fair, everyone is allowed to have their opinions
but the toxicity of the fandom got to the point that a lot of people presented their opinion as an objective literary truth

what i noticed is ||what seemed to be a contradiction at first in grisha's character||
specifically this
||he's asking zeke to stop eren, while at the same time acknowledging that he's going to pass on the founder and attack titans to eren||
||why would he say that zeke is the only one who can stop eren if grisha is the one who is enabling eren to do that stuff?||
||the reason for this is that zeke realised that this is the only path forward for him||
||the future was already set, so the only thing left for him was to keep on moving forward||
||due to the future memories he got from adult eren||
||on that very same page, you can see the future memories eren had inherited from grisha (which were originally sent to him by adult eren) with the king crimson face and everything and i feel like this was isayama's way to show that eren had made that same realization that grisha did||
||chapter 131 went deeper into eren's psychology by showing us what was essentially a dichotomy between two sides of eren||
||one side was inspired by his child dream to achieve freedom (the definition of freedom differs per character, but in the case of eren it has been trampling everything outside of the walls) while the other more 'adult' side acknowledged that there's no path other than the predestined future as the past, present and future are now coexisting (which is what happened to grisha as well)||
