Very underrated series that turns bad is Suicide Island. I read it because I thought it was gonna be dumb and edgy but was really wholesome??? Lots of really human characters even a canonical transgender character. Basically it's about a group of young adults who failed at attempting suicide sent to an abandoned island. They make friendships, there is wars between factions and they grow to realise they have stuff to live for. Highly recommended even if the ending is bad.

And honestly
They are waaaaaaayyyyyyy cooler than the original series
Like, goddamn
Though I did like the subtle, more abstract concepts and philosophies in the original eva, the concreteness and visually shown concepts in the rebuilds are coool too
Mari is an amazing additional character, she breathes so much life into eva despite being like, an original character for it kinda wish she didn't have the same name as my sister though
The 3d/cgi usage is pretty good, not bad at all and totally not out of place, which is a privilege only some animes with cgi can have
Now I'll wait for the final movie's dub before I watch it
I also like how the first movie is basically a faithful remake of the episodes it uses
And then the sequels are like, completely, entirely new shit
Overall, rebuild movies 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 I give a really nice 65/73

Though that's more of problem with the genre itself, since the latter can be more freeform on how to write it's dialogue so it works to convey well tl the viewers, and that the voice actors can actually play off well with each other since it's more carefree
As opposed to the latter which uses powers and abstract concepts and takes itself too seriously, so the dubs are either decent enough, good voices but rigid acting, or just flat
