There is no shock to seeing gon do it because we dont know whats going on. The moment feels hollow for me because it just seems like a dragon ball power up until after its already over. If we knew the consequences of it prior then the moment would have done what it was going for better in my opinion. Spoilers for Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood:|| Compare it to a similar finale from that show where al sacrifices his soul using the law of equivalent exchange to give ed his arm back. It is still heavy because you know the consequences it has for al, while building upon the fundamental concept of the whole show||

Or spoilers for avengers endgame: ||If they hadn't setup that a normal human using the gauntlet would die, then the weight of Tony using it wouldn't exist because we wouldn't know the consequences until after. And we'd go "oh ok I guess" instead of "OH NO"||

Or even if in the heavens arena arc if wing had made a comment that if you aren't careful about controlling it you could burn through all of your nen and never be able to use it again

Alright so spoilers for people who are not caught up with the Sabaody Archipelago arc for One Piece and the 6th movie of One Piece.

I watched ep 396 and in this one, Luffy ||punches the Celestial Dragon with all his strength causing him to get knocked down. The way this is shown is in a black and white manga like way, and Luffy doesn’t yell anything like “Gum Gum no...” he just screams. https://youtu.be/GIqz6sBP7Qs||

Now moving onto the 6th movie, where ||at the end of the story we find Luffy against this person who lost his crewmates and now wants to do the same thing to Luffy’s crewmates. These ||punches are very similar in the way they are presented. My guess is that Toei Animation wanted to recreate that feeling in the show. To my understanding this must mean that he uses this punch whenever he’s about to lose someone or people close to him. It varies, Luffy just knocked the Celestial Dragon unconscious, but he might’ve killed Baron.||
