Delicious in Dungeon Beat in 14 volumes of 97 chapters. FANTASTIC fantasy (heh) series, and my favorite of the Fantasy Trio. Though, to be honest, the series feels more specifically like the story from a tabletop RPG campaign. It’s a series about a party of adventurers trying to save their companion deep inside a dungeon, but lacking food and ingredients. This, they turn to the monsters in the dungeon.

This starts an amazing series with great characters with development as the story progresses, top notch world building with the monsters dungeon and setting in total, and great art to complete the package. What made this series excel to me though is its mastery of inappropriate time for humor and absurd situations comedy, and being able to land it no matter how lighthearted or serious the situation is and making it work without breaking the current mood. Oh and it sticks the landing with its ending.

There’s also a guidebook full of trivia and backstory the author couldn’t include in the main story so check it out too.
