A really pretty film with a lot of great songs in it. The story is pretty good and although it takes a bit from The Beauty And The Beast, it's great it's not an adaptation of it or it being a central part of the story. Although the film is about 2 hours, some parts of it need a bit of fleshing out I think. My big issue though is the final act where everything gets resolved, I think it's a bit of a moral failing in the writing to have let the MC tackle the villain alone. With the story making it a point that the adults need to do more for the kids, or that they're seen a bit unreliable, it's really awkward for it to remain that way to resolve the conflict.
Belle movie super spoiler on the final act do not click if you're planning on watching it anytime soon also Trigger Warning: DV ||The group had 5 capable(4 if not counting the old lady) adults with them in the vicinity when they finally doxxed the abusive dad but for some reason not one of them decided to join the MC in confronting him. The MC had to take a train ride, then a bus ride all the way to Tokyo from Kochi (think Arkansas to Atlanta for Americans) ALONE with no one else with her, and the final fucking boss is a domestic abuser. I can already imagine how much wrong this could have seriously gotten. The whole time the MC had no adults to rely on and the moment adults were there to help they just didn't at all.||
