Mad Max Fury Road REVIEW WITH SPOILERS!!!:

Plot and Pacing: Honestly I think the blend between Max’s story of wanting to break free from being imprisoned by the V8 and Furiosa’s story of wanting to break free from Immortan Joe’s lies blend super super well with each other!! THE PLOT ITSELF IS GREAT AND THE PACING WAS SUEPR SUPER JUST RIGHT

Characters: The different tribes we see in Mad Max all vary and they’re pretty cool!! My personal favorite tribe was the Mortifyers!! They ride motorcycles n shit it’s awesome! Now the main and side characters are super super awesome, Max himself was the like serious brooding expressionless dude who only cares for himself but the character development made him turn into a serious brooding dude who cares for others!! Now for Furiosa’s case I think she’s such a badass, she drives a big rig and her character development was going back and helping her people which is…AWESOME!! The side characters were my favorite!! I PERSONALLY LOVE NUX HE’S AWESOME HE LIKES CARS AND WOWIE KAJOWIE HE SACRIFICES HIMSELF :((. The women were so BADASS!! Now the side characters include women who were supposed to be “breeding fodder” BUT OH MY THEY BROKE FREE WITH HELP FROM FURIOSA AND THEY BECAME LIKE THESE BADASS KILLERSSSS!! ALSO FURIOSA’S TRIBE WERE FULL OF OLD WOMEN THAT CAN SHOOT GUNS

World Building: Perfect, need I say more? IT’S SO SO AWESOME THE WAY THE DESERT BLENDS WITH THE OVERALL POST APOCALYPTIC FEEL OF THE MOVIE

Overall: 8.5/10!! I THINK THIS MOVIE IS LIKE IN MY TOP 10 FAVORITE SCI FI FILMS OF ALL TIME!!!

Nitpicks: There was er…unnecessary things like the milking scene, the scene where the women for breeding escaped and started showering. And also I think that Max was a bit “too serious”, also the start moved a bit too fast!!

I understand some of the points they tried to make such as in their primary example, Black Butler, though it is in a shounen magazine, it's majority audience has turned out to be women. A fairly common occurrence among seinen and shounen manga, a never occurrence among shoujo manga. This example blurs the line on who exactly the target demographic of the "manga" is if separated from the "magazine"

That's understandable

But it just doesn't make sense practically because that's wholly denying that it is in a shounen magazine in the first place

Whatever the audience turns out to be is a subjective element, it is still a fact in the matter that the "intended" audience in the magazine it is in is what it is

One point they point they raised was that some editors or authours or publishers would try to push a manga beyond the the main demographic of the magazine, possibly to appeal to a wider audience or to broaden horizons.
But this doesn't play out as well either, because, if an authour wanted to make a manga intended for women, they'd go to a shoujo publication and that would be that. If an editor/publisher were to want a manga to push for a wider audience, they would do it but within the limits of their publication lest they just become for a wholly different demographic entirely

Overall this proposal reeks "I want to call this romance manga a shoujo" especially with a point they raised about referring to some shounen manga as "gender-neutral shoujo" due to audience or content. This is just simply denying facts that japanese publications use themselves

Oh my fucking goodness… Dan Trachtenberg gets it yet again after 2022’s Prey, he truly is Predator’s Killer of Killers. The amount of subtle weaving of parallels through seemingly unrelated anthology stories in 841 CE Scandinavia, 1609 Japan, and 1941 Florida/1942 North Atlantic that all tie to them showing their personalities and time periods off, even with the appropriate culture and language barrier to boot, when they obviously unite… that’s cinema. The animation, the colors, the action, truly apex for Predator’s first foray into animated media. There was not a single time period story I found prey to weaker writing and characters, and that’s a testament to this film’s merit. This might have claimed the spot for my favorite Predator installment, and I’m serious.
