Shin Kamen Rider beat. Fantastic movie, top notch, made me cry. It’s not the first reboot of the original series, they did that already with Kamen Rider the First. But damn this was so good.

The story is about a cyborg created by an evil organization, but due to the change of heart of the person who created him, he broke free and now with the help of the professor’s daughter they take down the SHOCKER organization. It’s a dark story where effort and sacrifice has to be made, but cyborg now known as the Kamen (Masked) Rider never gives up. I love it so much, it’s a tight knit story as the duo bond as they face overwhelming odds, and the special effects and combat are all top notch. I was gonna post so many cool shots like the Rider Kick and emotional story beats and shots but I’ll let y’all enjoy it by yourselves haha. My favorite moments were ||Hongo vs Ichigo, Ruriko’s death and will (goddammit I cried), and Double Riders vs 10 Locus Riders. Oh and the design for the final boss Kamen Rider Number Zero was fantastic. Also UGH the ending with Hongo dying and Ichigo carrying his mask and will, and it turns out both Hongo and Ruriko’s soul live on, and the indication that there will always be a Kamen Rider to face evil as each generation passes on their will and soul is chef’s kiss.|| It’s just a great story and movie. Also yeah out of the Shin movies I’ve watched THIS is the one that I want a sequel the most out of.

Shin Godzilla beat. Top notch production, second favorite of the Japanese movie line. It’s set in current times as bizarre unexplained phenomenon occur near Japan’s oceans, like a boat with no one on it, a tunnel flooding with odd red material, and the sea boiling. Then a massive creature shows up and all hell breaks loose as Japan scrambles to handle the coming of Godzilla.

I’m surprise at how comedic the movie starts by showing how ineffective the chain of command in Japan is during times of crisis. Once the task force is made they start being more competent though, and it’s a great movie overall yeah. I particularly like Godzilla’s design and his ||ever mutating forms. His stillborn humanoid form trying to escape his frozen one? Chilling as hell.||. It can come across as rather nationalistic and jingoistic at times, but I’m fine with it. I will mention though that the subtitles I was using is… sus as hell dropping Spanish and French words randomly lol.

Also, his goofy as heck second form where he first made it ashore? I goddamn love Kamata-Kun lol

Both in terms of how much I liked it and how much I want a sequel:

Kamen Rider > Ultraman > Godzilla

Minus One > Shin >>>>> Destroy All Monsters > Netflix trilogy > Vs Megalon

let me grab my letter box review rq

||the most all over the place i have felt about a comic book film. i use to think it was ok, then i thought it sucked, now i do think its amazing .This movie has so many things i love, the concept of batman being an emo kid who doesn't want to do his Bruce Wayne things, the story of how batman becomes a symbol of hope from a symbol of fear is the most unique batman story in a fat minute, the casting is one of the best in any comic book movie and this movie looks gorgeous with some amazing world building.

Besides a couple nit picks, the biggest thing that holds back this movie from being a perfect score is that for a batman film surrounded in grounded realism, its message is anything but. The idea that this movie conveys of "If we get rid of the FEW bad politicians and cops, then everything will be fine" when this is the most unrealistic take away you could get. This message is literally contradicted by Thomas Wayne who tried to be a good politician and better the city by putting in a lot of money, for him to die and that money went back into a corrupted system. so really the problem isn't "the few bad apples" its the system that will keep allowing bad people into positions of power.

This wouldn't upset me as much if it this movie was surrounding in more whimsical fantastical world, but since this is the interpretation that they have picked it really did take me out of the movie at times.

Alien: Earth Season One Episode Five, “In Space, No One…”:

Damn good flashback episode that recontexualizes everything seen with the USCSS Maginot crew in episode one. Not only a PSA on proper laboratory safety but genuinely some never before seen stuff in the Alien franchise, a whodunnit and some cool subtle ecological concepts thrown in. The cinematography this episode was top notch too. Side note, but the reviews were right about this episode, you might want to sit out eating/drinking before this episode because there are some moments that make you wanna reconsider doing exactly that.
