All caught up with DC’s Absolute Universe line… so far. Amazing concept and implementation. In a universe where the usual advantages the heroes had before they start is gone, and the world is a crueler place… they’re still heroes. If nothing else, check out the Martian Manhunter comic.

Martian Manhunter > Superman > Wonder Woman > Batman > Green Lantern > Flash

MM 5: Definitely the clear winner, with great colorful art and really creative paging haha. Even if you don’t like superheroes; it’s still a really engaging psychedelic buddy cop romp. ||I think this is the first version where they separated Jones from the Martian?||
Supes 9: Love LOVED ||Tyrannical dystopia Krypton, with Kal-El actually managing to have an actual childhood there. He may not have human parents, but by god his parents treated and raised him right. But even his moral fiber is tested to the limits here, and man I really wanna see what happens next.||
Wondy 10: ||Diana with no Amazon sisters, raised in hell by single mother Circe and hell spawns that come to their island, growing up to be one badass Witch Warrior? HELL YEA! SUCH a cool power set and her strength of character really shows. If she’s not the leader of the Absolutes I am disappointed lol.||
Bats 10: As mentioned, ||no money but his friends and allies|| and that never surrendering Batman spirit is always a solid story.
GL 4: too early to judge, but a more engaging mystery than the Flash’s. Also, Abin Sur looks DAMN cool. ||even if it’s very Maajin Buu/Mewtwo Y esque|| lol
Flash 5: Clearly the weakest first arc, with the highlight being ||cute as heck Grodd|| of course

Highly recommended.

As a side note I also read Whatever Happened To The Warrior of Truth and LOVED IT! Definitely my favorite of the trio whereas Supes ||is an absolute final story of Supes retiring after tying up all loose ends,|| and Bats’s ||is how all Batmen stories will end, as a hero who will go down fighting to save one more person, and that all of them are loved. Also, the Gentleman’s Gentleman story HOLY CRAP ||, Wondy’s ||is a heartwarming affirmation of Wonder Woman’s role with her supporting cast, friends, and loved ones… and also how each of them helped made her who she is as well. It’s not even the end of her story heh. She gets up and continues to be who she was always meant to be… a Wonder.|| what can I say I’m a big ol’ softie lol.

Also the bonus extra with ||the next generation sons and daughters Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman was neat.||

i just got one flashback where it’s a flash back to eisen and stark is asking eisen why he did some generous/heroic thing and rather than giving the chance to develop eisen further eisen just says “it’s what himmel would’ve done”

Gave it 146 chapters but yeah I’m out.

Tales of Demons and Gods is mediocre. So very mediocre. The art style looks like a soulless ripoff of Naruto, and as someone that dislikes Naruto’s art we’re already off to a bad start. Story wise it’s your typical reincarnation power trip fantasy, where the MC returns to an earlier point of his life as a kid and gets a chance to make things right, with the help of his future knowledge. Too bad I don’t vibe with the MC at all, and creeping on his previous timeline girlfriend when she’s still a kid is… ehh.

But I think what broke me was the nonsensical scaling. Not just power scaling, EVERY scaling. Like economic scaling, from absurd amounts of money the kid gains and spends and the rarity and scarcity of pills, ingredients, spirits, it just keeps going upwards strangely. Time wise is also weird with “oh my god I’m cultivating 3x faster.” 3x faster than what? Oh and the power system makes no sense and feels like the author just pulls it out of their ass every time.

But hey it got 500+ chapters so it must be doing SOMETHING right.

Whatever it is it ain’t what I’m looking for sadly so toodles, I got more entertaining trash to read.
