It’s funny that both sides know where the other are at all times but don’t really make a move to crush each other lol. I’m REALLY not feeling Erzsebet Bathory as the big bad, despite her massive show of power. You can be a powerful flat character like Death was and still have a ton of personality to like, but her? Meh. Hoping Orlox takes over somehow second season. He’s much more interesting.

Not really seeing the massive improvement on the animation I’ve been told of for the most part. The part where Annette ran away was surreal and beautiful. But the others, while slick, didn’t reach the massive levels of hype Castlevania did. That’s really Nocturne’s biggest problem. The hypest moment I had depended on ||the return of Alucard to save all of them||, and not really by its own merits. Richter relearning magic was pretty sweet though. I liked that. This is the first time the final battle in a Castlevania season wasn’t one of my favorites though. Funny that.

Not sure if I put Nocturne 1 above or below season 3 of Castlevania. Will still continue though.

Castlevania Nocturne second (and last, I assume, for now at least) season beat. Right from the first episode it gave me hope that it’s a return to form, with Alucard’s fight reminiscent of the mook fights of the first series. Cool as heck.

And boy did this season deliver as it had a goddamn amazing final battle in ||the battle for Paris. Erzsebeth Bathory finally showed some character here, and oh my god the fight against her spectacular. Physically fighting a dragon was fantastic, I really like it when a humanoid has to fight so meeting with a different anatomy to itself in close combat, it’s very fresh.|| Juste (so glad he’s here), Alucard, and Richter also were great. The finisher with ||FREAKING CLAIMH SOLAIS|| OH MY GOD!

Outside of battle, I also liked how the characters grew. I’m surprised how invested I was with Maria’s descent into and rise out of darkness, and it’s not even over if how she’s portrayed is anything to go off. Only character I didn’t like or understood where they came from is basically just the Abbott but I think that’s deliberate haha.

Now where do we go from here? Unlike Castlevania Season 2, there’s not a lot of loose ends and plot threads to follow up on, though there is a HUGE one leftover. I would love to see more of everyone yes, but at the same time the remaining questions could be answered in a third series. Not sure what the right call here is.

All of which is to say PLEASE MAKE A SERIES ABOUT CASTLEVANIA 1999 PLEASE LET ME SEE MAH BOI JULIUS ||KICK OLD MAN COYOTE’S BEHIND||
