Psych Season 2 Beat. Theme song variations start popping up here, with dramatic Christmas one for, well, the Christmas ep, and a Spanish one for the soap opera ep. Christmas one I liked, but other than changing the lyrics the Spanish one felt low effort.

Highlights:
||- American Duos is a fantastic opener, with strong showings from the guest stars, ESPECIALLY Tim Curry as Simon Cowell- er Nigel St. Nigel, a completely unlikeable jerkass you just love to hate lol. Oh and of course, the legendary performance at the end.

• T-Rex ep is another classic, and Gus even starts showing off his lock breaking skills.
• Rival Psychic was also a ton of fun, I love the tension between Shawn and the Psychic, and the special agent was just hilariously crazy yet serious and deadpan.
• Wally is one of my favorite villains, he’s so friendly but as it turns out so diabolical.
• it’s funny how both bullies in Monk and Psych went on to live fantastic lives, much to the dismay of our MCs. Also LMAO Gus being the culprit that Shawn never figured out.
• Christmas ep ending was touching. Even if Gus’s parents still paid Shawn to watch out for him haha.
• It always bugged me that Mira was never shown to be sad about Jan being killed because he loves her. Oh well.
• Retirement Home end was so funny with the hurried summation and the escape zooming in on a photo like The Shining.
• The theme song variant’s not the best but the episode was a ton of fun, like Shawn only having male fans haha.
• Secret Society and Fashion eps are some of my favorites. Gus beating Shawn at estimates will never be not funny to me. “36… 24… 38!” With that smug look. Gus mistaken for a model as well. I also really loved the truth of the fashion ep, with both victims killing each other.||

Oh and the mummy episode might be my all time favorite haha

Decent enough premise of a quest to redeeming souls to prove that Adam’s corrupt idea of an extermination is justified. However, the VivziePop meme is true, way too much cursing. And to add on, for such a short time of 9 episodes to count the first season, the plot moves in an oddly slow pace— which for a plot that requires time sensitive events is strange. Arguably, the strength of the show is seeing characters develop and grow, in line with the whole Hell redemption plot line— especially Angel Dust and Sir Pentious (as they’re the only two with explicit and in-depth arcs). This show excels in using the most random unexpected Chekov’s guns to comedic effect (||like with Niffty’s bloodthirst that killed Adam||). For being the protagonist, Charlie, is ironically very much a passive protagonist at that (||she’s an idea lady rather than an action lady||)— which usually would be bothersome but Hazbin Hotel’s character work helps to alleviate the passivity of Charlie. Speaking of Charlie, she acts as a perfect foil to Vaggie: ||Charlie is an angelic figure in Hell with a regular name whereas Vaggie has a vulgar name and is an angel that disobeyed orders and was forced to stay in Hell||. Another neat dynamic is between Alastor, Husker, and Angel Dust: ||they’re both chained up by someone else but they deal with it in their own ways, Angel and Husker masks their fear with their personality types whereas Alastor just smiles||. As for favorite characters, it’s for sure Alastor and Sir Pentious. The music is the most obvious strong suit with surprising leitmotifs that carry from song to song.
