having the enemies just be straight up humanoids rather than like, animal-fusionoids is a bit lackluster. it's an easy way out, implies humanoid is the highest Form of evolution (totally WRONG, it's actually crabs), and to me shows a lacking in imagination(how i feel whenever Aliens are in a setting and they're all somehow humanoid(ugh))

Everyone that says they can just can barely tell what's on screen, in one scene you would be able to tell me Maho grabbed a train, threw it and somehow it got destroyed, you don't know what happened in between, how it was destroyed, how maho got there, etc. This type of direction completely avoids those questions since the viewers dont wanna see a follow through action scene but the spectacle that comes in it

Also another thing, "sick cool epic reference" in a single(1) frame between flashing impact frames is cool and all, but it's something that doesn't have to happen a lot, or else you'll just end up with audiences pausing the video and moving frame-by-frame to see if anything's there(nothing's there) OR only fighting game players will appreciate it moving in full(they are experienced with frame perfect execution)

Monk Season 4 beat. Biggest change is probably they got syndicated for 2 seasons (which they made a funny joke with in the Diamond ep), otherwise just more Monk goodness.

Highlights:
||- Jason Alexander ep was a great opener lol

I still love Ambrose and it’s a damn shame that we never get to see him and his father reunite. Off screen they met later in season 5 though. But yeah wish they used Ambrose more.
Natalie investigating on her own was fun to watch and damn Monk coming all the way to the recycling plant to save her. LMAO THE SONG SAVED THE DAY!
the Trudy ep was one of the darkest eps, and damn I loved it. Seeing Monk getting better only to have his world shattered and holding the woman who looks like his wife dying in his arm was heartbreaking.
Wedding ep was great too, especially Monk’s speech at the end.
Seeing kid monk solve crimes was cute
the damn Christmas gift finally shows up
I love the fashion show ep, the villain had similar ocd like Monk, and they even brought back an old ally only to reveal him to be the bad guy.
Amnesia ep was amazing. Tony Shalhoub playing a gaslighted Monk was fantastic. The end with him immediately remembering his friends upon seeing them was great too. Damn shame he didn’t decide to work as a Deputy.
I… didn’t like Karen’s final appearance. Yes Leland had LOADS of problems, but Karen’s no saint either. Portraying it as one sided just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Diamond episode is one of my favorites, and I really wish the other bounty hunters came back later. Alas.
Astronaut villain was great, he’s everything Monk wishes he is as a man, and the final stand off where Monk stood unflinching even earned the bad guy’s respect.

Random Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire bit of analysis that just appeared in my mind: Vision is a motif that I don’t think is said all that often in analyses about GxK- ||Skar King has some sort of vision problem as the moment he sees the sun his eyes turn from blue to orange, Shimo‘s ability to make ice ages is seen by her starting to blot out the sun in Rio, Jia having literal visions of what’s to come as well as Mothra, and the Iwi tribe communicating thru mental visions of sorts (telepathy). I feel like the fact that Skar King’s eyes change when he’s in the sun just shows that the Hollow Earth and his Empire tunnel visioned him and now that he literally and figuratively sees the light he goes batshit on power greed (he went from an angelic blue, symbolizing how he relied on Shimo for most of his power down there, to his natural orange, which is seen by his devilish laugh on the “mere mortals”). Shimo’s ability to blot out the sun to create ice ages is the opposite of Skar King’s more hellish and fiery approach to power- which speaks to why Skar King locked her up as she’s truly the biggest threat to him, not Godzilla, and more onto why Shimo initiated his demise once unshackled. Jia’s visions of the future in a way make her the great equalizer in terms of her role in bridging the gap between Kong and Godzilla by bringing Mothra into the fold— she has the literal foresight to do so. Finally, the Iwi’s telepathy just shows how sacred their culture is as they do not want to even disturb the grounds of Mothra with their voice.||
