Enter the Tuskegee Airmen and the veritable truth that their reputation and status as the first African American airmen is justified- 500+ missions, their white counterparts not showing a shed of racism even though itās the 1940s because theyāre all just true men.
The emotional tensions throughout this part mirror that of the tensions faced during the most crucial part of this time of World War Two- D-Day (especially with Harry Crosby, the Tuskegee Airmen having to prove themselves at their most daring operation, and the POWs in Stalag Luft III having to deal with the Schutzstaffel instead of regular Nazi grunts as well as the oncoming Allied encirclement of the Third Reich). A whole lot of subtle details and juxtapositions in this part too.
The Tuskegee Airmenās inclusion is without question one of the best parts in Masters of the Air as they started to show America that minorities (in this case African Americans) can indeed be actually equal men (all with the proof of war). They showed in one part that they are just as justified as the 100th Bomb Group to be called Masters of the Air.

Kung Fu Panda 4 watched. It was solid, thought not my favorite of the series. Reading the synopsis and seeing the furious five wonāt feature prominently in it I was iffy, but I liked the story. The high light were definitely the action and combat scenes though. ||I love the final battle vs The Chameleon, though the fight in the fog vs the lizards was a great stylistic choice. The adventures of Poās gay dads was entertaining haha. I liked Zhen as Poās disciple, I feel they play off well together, and both learned and thought things to each other. Sheās never too OP that she stole the show but still shows a lot of promise. I also really liked the parting scene from Tai Lung, Lord Shen, and General Kai (and the other losers lol) as they finally accept that Po truly is the dragon warrior, showed respect to him and peacefully returned to the Spirit Worldā¦ and also bringing along the bad guy with them, killing her LMAO!|| I was surprised at some of the musical choices too. ||took me me a few minutes to recognize the Chinese instrument acoustic version of CRAZY TRAIN, and Jack Blackās cover of Hit Me Baby One More Time was uhh a choice.||. I do feel thereās a bit of a missed opportunity here in that ||Tai Lung seemingly came back from the dead and Master Shifu had nothing to say about it? Really?||
Anyway, good watch.

I really love how involved Subaltern Sandra Wesgate is in this series, especially considering itās more focused on the men in the bombers and fighter planes, but thereās a ground element to the success of the Masters of the Air, and spies like herself bring that sort of intel thatās useful in the chaos of a war such as World War Two.
Also, the small emphasis on women in this series hammers home what the men in the air are fighting for- as we are constantly reminded in this series about marriages, crushes, etc.
I particularly liked how that teen that helped Quinn and Bailey escape Nazi occupied territory and Wesgate are accurately depicted being unassuming to the Nazis soldiers and officers that surrounded her as women were downplayed in such times when they were truly the ones playing the game.
A small thing, but I commend the series for accurately portray the intelligence of the Nazis and on the same hand, how they overlook things. Would be so easy for them to just dumb them down or make them over the top but good on them for making such threats as the Schutzstaffel controlling the Stalag Luft III camp actually a threat. The juxtaposition between the Nazi interrogators and the guardsā¦ āfreeā thinkers vs fully indoctrinated and propaganda immersed (and they showed such a dichotomy beautifully).

He gives plenty of additional insight into the historical accuracy of Masters of the Air and I like how he just doesnāt dismiss the inclusion of the Tuskegee Airmen and the women in this series much like some other reviewers I see
I gotta read Donald L. Millerās book at some point (or when the complement documentary about this event comes out and Miller is in it, I would love to see it).
Iām probably in the minority of Masters of the Air watchers when I say I appreciate the diversity in perspectives rather than just aerial missions over and over again- it would get boring immediately and lose its charm and the sentimental meaning behind the biggest missions like MĆ¼nster and Berlin.
Thereās more to bombing/strafing missions than just that and I like the varied experiences weāre shown.
I should watch Band of Brothers and The Pacific at some point to complete the World War Two Hanks/Spielberg trilogy
