My All American and Greater beat. The first follows an undersized player and the latter an overweight one as they try to find success in college football, but suddenly tragedy strikes. The difference is, I vastly prefer the first one to the second because holy crap was Greater boring. The narrative frame choice was definitely weird, but how do you make a story during football Jesus’s funeral with devil trying to win the soul of his brother boring? Like holy crap man. Meanwhile the first one is pretty straightforward but damn do they nail the cliches right. Natwaf is fine with overused cliches but don’t bore him out of his mind Jegus. The final Longhorn match was super hype too, and I loved the camaraderie of Mr outside and Mr inside here. Much more believable than what Greater had with all the jerks there. Razorback finals meanwhile was just… standard. The twist at the end was ok. If I’m pressed to say anything good about this movie… uhh… the church hymn was a toe tapper. The final segment showing all the charities they’ve done was nice too.
