Tbh the only thing I can think, is that DIO killed Joseph already, and his body would have dissipated any hamon by the time DIO got back to his body to suck his blood. Then when Jotaro used Star Platinum to jumpstart Joseph's heart while they were transfusing DIO's blood back into him, that created a bloodflow and could have generated hamon, somehow. However, Jotaro did not put air in Joseph's lungs and get him breathing to actually generate hamon at all. So I agree there's a hole in that theory still.

Just rewatching the dio vs jotaro fight and man the fight is so good still. Like people often say that Arakis Character Writing isn‘t really as strong in the earlier parts, but man you can see so much how the actions of Jotaro and DIO each are based on their character and premise in the battle and also he portrays like the chaotic nature of an actual fight and the spontane strategising your forced to do.
Like DIO is really cautious in the beginning, you can really see that he had learned of his cockyness of facing Jonathan and tries to control his ego. Jotaro on the other hand is aware of being at a massive disadvantages and mainly tries to distract dio and to play into his egomaniac personality.
This becomes this cat and mouse game where one tries to outsmart the other and to be honest both only survived this because both had in crucial moments luck.
Then we have a brief Interlude which is imo a kind off conclusion to Joseph‘s Character. As he now dies he speaks one last time to Jotaro and we can see the changed man he become, his advice to not fall into anger and his urge to assure Jotaro that he had fun with his journey, showed how he grew a man and was in the end not mad about dying because he still lived a fullfilling life. Like Jotaro he would have gone mad if someone had done this to his relative back in his hayday and he also had to learn about these consequences, he also kind off fulfilled at least one goal off his journey, to bound with his grandson who he never saw, while believing in that jotaro will carry the mission to an end.

Then the second part begins and as DIO sucked Josephs blood which finally let him to connect to his true vampiric potential, he finally let‘s his true face shine. His God-Complex... but times ten, while in Phantom Blood he already saw himself as something superior, now he really is out off his mind, he worships his own body, he plays with his immortality, losing all restraint to self harm which is kind off an eventuality when you‘re immortal and invulnerable. His power is greatly increased and so is his carefulness greatly decreases. Jotaro on the other hand is aware that now he cannot stall anymore.
Both are aware, that if Jotaro still wants to win, he has to win fastly. Jotaro begins to become panicked, instantly attack dio when he was approaching him which send him flying. Then we‘re on the Bridge scene. Dio like in true Dio fashion begins to tease him, begins to show how creative is when turtoring people, loudly counting the seconds while hiding. Then there is the roll roader ofc and it‘s this brief struggle, jotaro defends himself but then stops, tricking Dio into believeing that he is dead. But on contrary to before, he doesn‘t makes himself sure, he boasts about the victory and mocks jotaro. He doesn‘t even seems to be that interested in Jotaro‘s blood as if he thinks he doesn‘t need him anymore. Jotaro waits for the moment where Dio realizes that he can‘t stop time anymore and strikes and attacks dio, but he himself is a cocky person, he teases dio, only wounds him slightly and wants to end it like in a true manner, he says something like „i‘ll give you one chance and we see who is truly superior“ dio heals his wounds and attacks jotaro again and at first we think he won, but no dio is actually wounded... but this isn‘t just plain plot armour, it‘s been hinted even before, because even when jotaro was panicked he still amanged to wound his hand, showing that he is still capable of harming a full powered dio, this is kinda reminded by araki by showing that the wound jotaro took from dios final blow is the same he inflicted on dio before

TL:DR Jotaro vs DIO is a damn good fight and one of the best Fictional, not only Shounen, Fights i‘ve seen/read PERIOD

He stopped time to prevent the road roller crushing him. Meaning it became suspended in the air, meaning dio wasnt able to crush jotaro since he couldnt think/interact with the environment for the duration of a stopped time. Yet hes able to talk to jotaro just fine in stopped time

Steely Dan and Rubber Soul are my favorite type of minor antagonist in Part 3 because they're just real slimy scumbag dudes. Like no honor, no dignity, they're just extremely crude and backstabbing. So when they beg for their life even after being tricky it's really funny to see Jotaro loom over them like "Nah man get the fuck out" and punch the living hell out of them

How the heck did he even get jojo who was literally dead to move inside that coffin if there even is one? Dio wouldn't be even able to control jonathan's body even if he did manage to sew himself to his body until really later on

there was another compartment in the coffin
erina and lisa lisa didn't drift back to civilization, they were picked up by a rescue crew around the canary islands
so the coffin could have been left in the ocean
as for jojo's body
dio was shown to be capable of manipulating objects with the veins in his neck
in the novel, over heaven, dio claims he doesn't remember and that he suspects that erina put his head and jojo into the coffin
(though he doubts himself)
i do like this explaination as it solves more or less every issue
