Why does a stand have to be strong or super useful to be liked or good? Again I liked the conditions that come with it and how creative it was overall.

That's what I like about jjl. A lot of stands are super specific and have super precise conditions to activate in the first place. Of course they are super limited but that's why the creativity of their user becomes so much more meaningful. It's so great that araki was still able to manage to write interesting arcs with them.

I think we have a different understanding of what makes a stand good in the first place. For me it isn't all about utility but HOW it is implemented in the story, how much it fits its user and how well said user finds a creative use for it. Even the most useless stands can provide us with some of the most nail biting tension in the series. If you prefer your punching ghosts, then that's ok as well.

The fact that dayas stand ended up being so dangerous for josuke is proof of that. She overcame her own limitations and almost beat him. That's the best part about it.

Khnum in combination wirh toth has the potential to be super dangerous. But since this arc was used as a breather after the intense n'doul fight, he wanted to add comedic elements to it. So he created a situation where the stand is at its most useless by making toths prediction bite it in the ass. The crusaders luck but also complete obliviousness are cranked up by 11 just to set the stage for this comedic arc. And that's exactly what I was trying to say from the very beginning: stands can get cool or uncool with how araki plans the story for them. A super overpowered stand can become laughable if the situation is created for it and the same goes for the opposite: A super specific stand can get interesting because of it.
Arakis philosophy of writing stands in p8 mirrors what he did in p4 by giving weaker stands more time to shine. Both parts are more grounded in reality. Stand fights aren't as spectacular and epic like p5 or p6 because the tone is different. His goal to make the weak stands shine and create the situations for them where they can shine but also have competent users who overcome their shortcomings with creativity and resolve. That makes me appreciate the stands and especially what they symbolize even more.
