Hottake: I think was Daiya did was FAR worse than what joshu did. She took away Josukes memories in order to get it so that he becomes her slave. Joshu's bad actions were 1. during Paper Moon King, which was not at all manipulative from Joshus end and simply a misunderstanding and 2. during 101, which while remained creepy, he never actually did something, his entire goal there was to help out Yasuho, he put himself in the weird position behind her because he didnt know how the rokakaka worked. Daiya is a straight up manipulater that tried to rape Josuke, Joshus crime was not understanding what yasuho meant and helping out yasuho.

He was neglected as a child and instead his only figure to look up to was a random man who was a gangster, and its pretty ironic that that was what straightened him out. It helps explain his later drive. In part 5, we see throughout the story his sides of jonathan vs dio clashing multiple times which is a large part of his appeal. It keeps it constantly interesting. When the story starts out he talks to Bruno and when bruno first approaches him he is calm and cool. As they talk, Giorno's body language changes and we see him visibly getting less calm. This is just. perfect. A perfect introduction for Giorno, where Araki lays out what hes all about at the start; hiding behind his facades. Araki lays out his different facades throughout such a simple interaction between giorno and bruno. In the next arc we get to see more into how Giorno's morality is. At the end of the arc he chooses to kill Polpo because Black Sabbath killed a random innocent person, which makes sense with what giorno said in the bruno fight about not wanting to involve people that dont have anything to do with this(showing his jonathan side.) Later in the fight we see Giorno use his power more creatively. And throughout the part there are multiple moments like this where we see more into giorno, something is always happening with him. I dont want to go too in depth on this so I'll just highlight some moments
in the kraftwerk fight when he calls for mitsa he repeats himself but fails and tries a different approach. It both shows that giorno hates repetition but also that he is flawed. He was nearly useless the whole time
in the fight with ghiaccio he is useless in the fight and fucks up a bunch but in the end he did the one thing he could do which took extreme resolve and shows that after fucking up so much, he was able to overcome those fails and help
