New cover: Neon Cannon, a reskinned AM2R that is intended to make the game slightly harder with a futuristic look. Currently in early stages, I plan on making this throughout the entirety of 2023

i might recolour genesis to be a black void missile launcher
so it blends with the dark background and i can play around with sound effects

second last preview, after the last till i release a version with almost everything recoloured up to A1

wasnt so sure about how to change the header for when you first enter it, but every other text now says "The Ashen Temple"

i was thinking of this actually, i was gonna call supers "void missiles" and have some beefy explosion effect when theyre fired

well originally it was supposed to be like a bunch of years after metroid fusion, but all the metroids on sr388 werent destroyed and the bsl station didnt blow up the whole planet
make the explosion effects to be black or similar to void
so the golden temple, which is near the surface, is covered in ash
why?
since this is after am2r technically, a bunch of the robots from distro repair all of the powerups
but then deactivate after a while
here's a neon missile, supers will be void missiles
bosses after super missiles will be much stronger and normal enemies would have much more health too
im gonna give genesis like 1.5k health lmao
everything up to a1 is complete 
i can release a beta where everything up to a1 is reskinned and modified in some type of way

Almost everything up to the end of Area 1 has been finished, the beta will come soon. (Around a week after this video's release.)
The beta and eventually the final mod will be posted to the official AM2R Discord server.

Ok so full neon lore cus I’m bored out of my mind rn:
Protagonist is not Samus. It takes place years after Metroid fusion, where sr388 isn’t fully destroyed by the bsl station. Distro robots repair everything while improving them, making non Metroid bosses stronger and part mechanical, but deactivate after years of no activity. Metroids aren’t fully wiped out and are still a threat as there is another colony so the protagonist must kill them all
Samus becomes Sarah
The neonverse metroids are now part of the void. They use it as their power and x parasites are kind of a void illness that spreads and is controlled by the metroids eating void creatures
I could think of a better lore sometime in the future but this is what I have for now

It's a patch, it doesn't contain the 1.1.exe from what I can tell
That being said I can't get the patch to patch anything

Did you change anything with the metroid except the texture? Or are you worried it's too easy because you don't need to aim your missiles?
im worried its easy cus the triple missles lmao
im making other variants harder tho, like making them dodge really quickly and a further distance
i might also make their i-frames last longer
basically im looking to make bossfights generally longer for a lot of bosses and make the game a little harder
Well you don't really deal "more" damage to Metroids because only one of your Missiles can hit at a time, so yes it's easier, but more because the triple missile makes aiming more of a suggestion
I did actually run out of missiles in BG1 though, since it eats through your Ammo like crazy
im making missile packs give more missiles in the future, since bosses will be made tankier and automatically increase in health the more missile packs you get
Did you already implement something like that? I had 78 max missiles at some point while in normal mode
yeah i made them give 6 instead of 5
yea I believe one missile pack gives you 6?

Btw small thing with charge beam, while the "Energy" that the cannon draws is the right color as well as the final spark, the charging spark is still the standard color
to add to that the flash of normal shots are yellow
nah theyre changed to really light yellow-green 
but yeah i was looking for a vortex design for this and didnt bother even recolouring this animation
cus i didnt have a good design for the vortex

i was gonna make it so when they do metamorphosis the rocket propellers and horns shift toward the mouth, which makes them breathe fire and be able to spew energy stuff, then their real legs grow

y'know, something that's a bit offputting is the fact that the extra missiles from the shotgun don't get momentum boosts from moving
obviously kinda a bug from my own triple shot code
but I think I know what causes it
here's the code for momentum
in the oMissile step event and not the create for some reason
but the bug is caused because the momentum is only given to missiles that are exactly aligned with the 8 normal directions
you'd want to make it a cone of directions

Development has been delayed till February or even March, but till then I am still planning concepts for future updates
Another update: I do have access to the newest data.win file thanks to abyss, now I can work slowly on my laptop but progression is still minor until my computer is back
Something I want to fix is ||genesis|| minibosses respawning after dying or reloading a save
this mod isn't dead, there's just been some issues lately, as well as a different mod that's popped up as a side-project. 👍

Gotta say I love the missile shotgun and the sound it makes it just delightful
I found a bug where if you enter a room that had Genesis in it, the Genesis music keeps on playing and doesn't stop until you either kill the genesis or exit and reenter the game.
Oh yeah that patch is VERY old
I don't recommend playing that one, a lot has changed since that release

Not public until 1.0, but the current "public" release is really buggy.
