Keep spoiler talk in #1394367773207040042
I'm so confused, was the Witness stronger than the Nine? Is that why they let it hold the entire Sol system hostage for like five whole years
No
The Nine are stronger in Sol
who The Witness?
the nine
Oh
they likely knew we weren't going to lose
But I dont think The Witness can infact do something against them
without TFS The Witness has no way to do smth against The Nine
Could they not just take the whole planetary system and never have to worry about them
who is maya
Golden age researcher and scientist, big head in the Ishtar Collective
One of the founders of neomuna and now acts as the Conductor
I could only assume the Witness is infinite leagues stronger than the Nine, unless you're breaking the spoiler rule and sharing something I haven't seen yet
I would neverđ¤
The Nine aren't paracausal, for all their curious power
The Witness has an inherent advantage
They do exist in a higher dimension
What can The Witness do about that
Do the exact same and rewrite all of reality on a universal scale to the point that the nine would simply cease to exist
The nine literally donât do anything thatâs the whole point
Without The Traveler can he do that? No
The reason they didnât make contact for anything since Arrivals is because they simply didnât have an answer for it
And what are the nine going to do to stop the witness
Nothing, thats the whole point
Because if they literally canât do anything while the witness goes on its merry way to create the final shape, thatâs it
The witness exists solely for that express purpose
I kinda want to say smth but I cant since its spoiler for the campaign
The witness simply has zero need to directly face the nine and the nine have no way to stop the witness on their own
Oh god I really wanna say smth but its a spoiler
Toil in silence
wait, i missed a few dialogues, from when is lokdo
lonkdo
lodi
Laundry
what was the collapse?
the why?
Mass extinction events, plagues, natural disasters, because the pyramid came in and tried destroying everything the traveler helped build
bcuz of the witness right?
nezarec?
Final god of pain, final boss of the Root of Nightmares raid
One of the witnessâ disciples
Tormentors are genetically engineered copies based on him
Humanitys collapse
oh sorry my bad
Just to make sure I didnât miss anything
correct me if im wrong
biggest wish of the nine
is to free themselves of being bound to planetoids
dawg im covering it for a reason
Not the image though
imagine is not covered?
weird i marked it as spoiler
I've done the campaign but you should still talk about it the other channel
nah covered all good
i hope the raid clarifies things up
||Probably reality bent around the singularity||
I wanna hear the maelâs opinion on this
Still keep it to #1394367773207040042
And life. Without life, they have no thought.
The mael hasn't played it yet
Got my collector's edition in, has anyone actually gone to the parking garage it mentions by the green line or am I going to be the first one to take that wild goose chase
Please go to #1394367773207040042
Your all glooby
So it seems I was correct about the music
That's what I thought, because I always thought that The Witness had every race and faction in a chokehold since like Shadowkeep, and if the Nine were stronger, they would have taken issue with it?
are we allowed to talk about the lore dlc here or #1394367773207040042 ?
But then what about that Lord of Every Nothing Octopus guy that's trying to hijack the Winnower?
We dont know
currently theres no plan for the taken
so we might find out later
Not hijack. But as of now nothing just yet. It's only day 2 though so who knows what the future holds
Spoiler chat
alright thanks
does anyone know what the statues found in say vow of the disciple and stuff are called, all the victim races on display and calcified/cut up
just trying to find images of them easier
searching darkness statues just keeps bringing the veiled one
Whatâs new with Ada?
those aren't finalized things
rhulk just has like scorn put in fridges and a big dissected hive worm
nothing since BL
she doesnt have time to explain
are there other examples in other places in game?
that's a different character
wdym
i forgor
Rhulk literally just has a bunch of weird art deco shit because he's a fake intellectual loser
unfortunately ive had game uninstalled for a while but there were many statues of things of people/creatures and stuff
all very rocky and cut up
those are the witnesses art projects
the actual calcified things split up into weird abominations are from the final shape and the postcampaign lost ghost quests
none of those are in the vow pyramid
rhulk just has like, statues of horses with 16 legs
yes i recall this one
it's not real
there's a very distinct difference between actual statues and victims of finalization
though it may be depicting star horse
yeah im just trying to find images of the finalized things, or really any that aren't the damn veiled one
unless the witness and Rhulk just got really into the idea of horses when they came to do the collapse
they needed a mount
like the preserved corpses?
yeah
just look up the lost ghost quests
they're found in areas added in FS with actual finalization around
here's the big worm
keep in mind that nothing related to the final shape happened before that point
yeah stuff like this basically i recall this one
everything else is just an actual statue or things that were just killed normallu
Rhulk's pyramid doesn't have anything finalized
that's just part of his worm experiments
unfortunately just rips up a bunch of guide stuff/thumbnails on images
i might have to speed redownload the game
i mean videos
video guides of the quests
there's also the preserved fallen/scorn and Cabal
they all have finalized victims at the end
all I can find is this thumbnail but
khulk
Khulk
khulk
Wait, what happened then?
the start of BL is when the pyramids first encroached on the system, we lost planets and moons, and when the forges were lost
Ada just since moved on to working on cosmetics in-universe and finds it to be a fulfilling activity
oh thatâs right, when we lost Asher and Sloane?
Thought she lost them in season of the forge though
the plot of season of the forge was about finding the black armory facilities to use again
that's what the forge activities were
then the forges got lost completed when Arrivals ended
anyway, Asher just bit the bullet on his vex assimilation and entered the pyramidion before things went down
Sloane just stayed on Titan as the moon was taken
oh, so we had the forges up until BL?
yes
none that i'm aware of
the BA wasn't built for guardians, it was built for normal humans who don't have any abilities
the weapons are supposed to be the special part
all it really focused on were weapons
what about that one stasis arms for hunters
that wasn't made by the black armory
that was made by Ada alone after all the forges were gone
it's a stasis exotic, so it would be after BL
No matter. For now, she would focus on one day at a time, and today, she would spin gold from straw. Her fingers traced the lines on the shoulder of the new gauntlets she had designed. She was determined to see them completed. They wouldn't save the system, no, but they would represent the Black Armory well. Sometimes, she just needed something for herself.```
I was assuming cause of the last paragraph on the renewal grasps page
Not a weapon, but armor woven
How the hell do we not know about the collapse
When rasputin clovis and failsafe fr had to have a record of it somewhere
Theres no record or date or something?
It just happend during the golden age thats what we know only
When Nezraec attacked Earth with the black fleet
But theres no way Clovis or Rasputin or Failsafe didnt have a date or a record or something right?
Failsafe got stuck in a vex time anomaly for a while im p sure, Clovishead was powered off and Rasputin was a lil weird like that (and also shut itself down during the collapse and only properly returned over the course of the game) so its entirely possible timers and counters are unreliable
Ultimately its because its easier and more convenient for lore writing
Still wierd that they are avoiding to show the collapse cause it might actually contain twists that we might not know
well yeah that is why
MIDNIGHT EXIGENT â a long-term counterattack protocol and moral structure change. All systems enter a period of extended deactivation to survive and later devise a countermeasure for an overwhelming threat. The protocol seemingly allows Rasputin to ignore his responsibility to protect human populations in favor of taking any measures deemed necessary to ensure his own survival. As of The Guardian slaying Xol, Will of the Thousands, MIDNIGHT EXIGENT is still in-progress.[68]
Pre-golden age and collapse are still unexplored times for the most part
Which is cool!
And The Traveler
I wanna know more things but I would rather know them as they have them
My reaction to people comparing Expansion storyâs has made my realize how overrated taken king is
Taken kings story was not better than edge of fates
Or forsaken
Or witchqueen.
to be fair the taken king was when the game's narrative chops started to show and it was a lot of aura farming that goes hard as hell
ehhh
ehhhhhhh
Really?
Ok forsaken I might have hype up to much
But it was not better than witchqueen
I just don't like witch queen
but either way ofc people have different appeals and tastes
and ideas for what a campaign story should be
Iâm not saying kings falls story was bad just that compared to other major expansions itâs the âhype moments and auraâ of them all.
a lot of people just want hype moments and aura though
its why shounen anime is so popular for example
so it makes sense the hype moments and aura expansion ft nostalgia is beloved
Yes but lots of shounen still have good writing.
Are there any stories of dark age cannibalism of Risen? I have been thinking about this for like a year
Few animals
Immortals capable of total regeneration wandering around, some benevolent
???
interesting concept. definitely wouldn't be possible to use it like that if you're hostile to the risen in question but I can see a risen trying to help out a starving community. probably hasn't been touched on because of the cannibalism taboo
There is lore on this actually, and itâs Drifter saying itâs not possible
It doesnât elaborate on the how but
(You can't, if you're askin'.)```
Oh yeah that's another question that's been bouncing around
Always wondered if a risen trapped in a hole could die over and over again until they had enough bodies to climb out
Ig not
damn that implies he tried it
we know what the collapse was and how it happened, what they want to avoid is just giving explicit dates and times because that can really disrupt future lore and needlessly make a bunch of fact checking every time they want to reference the past beyond "this was either decades or centuries ago"
do Xivu still control some Scorn that was formerly under Witness command?
hi im at the beginning of the campaign so no spoilers please but can you please explain tho me who is lavask / the archon?
#1394367773207040042 that will have to go into that i think
ok thanks
:<
they told me its not the right channel either
im just gonna ask on reddit and thats it
huh weird
it always irked me that Skolas is still alive, and the Vanguard are just totally okay with it, despite the fact he is both mad, and undead
what stops him for trying to unite the Houses again, or using more vex tech
surely he hates us even more for what we did on Venus, and in Prison
i think he is braindead
he is utterly mindless and hanging around the prison of elders
or wait nvm
did some reading
he does not seem that mindless
What's stopping Skolas from taking Exile from their worst, and being like "yknow guys, the Tower isn't thaaaat protected"
well atm that he is scorn and somewhere else?
But Skolas surely knows about Kepler, the Long Drift and all?
honestly where would he know about Kelper from?
The Long Drift
the system is big and Kepler is only one small Planetoid, high chance the house of wolves never came across it
is this not getting into spoilers?
XD
Well, there kind of aren't any. There's Salvation, Light, and the fragmented remains of Dusk, which is more of a cover all for the Houseless. Plus whatever Exiles is.
On a similar note, Exiles are... Not big. And besides, they already failed an attack on the City with Twilight Gap and Six Fronts, and both of those had far greater numbers as far as troops go.
Skolas is definitely an issue to be handled though
who are the oldest human (not awoken or exo) light bearers we know of? and how old are they?
We don't know who the oldest are explicitly, nor could we give an age given that we don't know how long the Dark Ages were.
However, Lightbearers like Drifter and Saladin are up there.
the oldest person in the room is you, the user reading this message
Wait
đ§
@trim grotto Have you done it yet?
I won't until the weekend proper
I only just finished my shift
I was kinda lucky on my end because I broke my ankle. But if I hadn't I would have had to work at launch.
Well, for one, the vanguard obviously does care considering we're sent out to kill Skolas within the prison over and over again in Kell's Vengeance. Two, the eliksni seem to deeply resent and fear the scorn, so any "uniting" is moreso "taking by force." And, while not totally mindless, he is still scorn- his mind is still wrapped in vengeance and anger, and we can't say for certain how complicated his thoughts can be. Fikrul was unique in that regard, and even he was still fairly crazy. Additionally, both the warden and the awoken both seem capable of keeping him on the shore- after all, the prisoners inside are still technically trapped, and with the final shape averted the awoken are likely going to be able to capable of regaining more full control over the shore.
But Skolas really seems like a "break glass in case we need a reason to use scorn" thing right now
Then again, with the focus on the nine within the fate saga and their former.. "connection," it wouldn't surprise me if he does get a small role later on
I wonder what Lodi will think of seeing other planets (and old golden age ruins), his opinion on these random topics would be an interesting thing to show due to the fact he's from pre golden age. Like humanity landed on the moon then you get sent forward in time to see its evolution and ruin by the hive/eliksni
And the reaction to seeing earth will be most interesting.
Due to the fact he hasn't met/interacted with the cabal or hive and he would probably be interested in them but also terrified due to the fact the cabal used to be our enemies and the hive have the light, not to mention the scorn and dread.
I think the traveler might be his biggest interest because in the collectors edition lore there is a note that indicates the first sighting of the traveler approaching Sol.
50ish years later the traveler arrived
He might have actually been one of the first people ever to have seen it.
nvm i dont remember if that was in the CE
Yeah, your right he knows the traveler is probably there, but then he might see the pyramid ship and be like "what's that thing"
Since root of nightmares is just floating in space next to the traveler.
"oh yeah the universe was like maybe two to three minutes away from ending for a bit but we got past it"
Translators or anyone proficient in language study would be great for a company looking to establish communication with other worldly life.
He was shown visions of the collapse, he's seen them before but obviously wouldn't know what they actually were or who controlled them.
"we also watched our best friend cayde 6 come back from the dead thanks to a wish dragon"
Lodi: I'm sorry, a WISH WHAT
"yeah here's a bone watch out though they speak"
And Lodi might get Osiris confused for Osiris the Egyptian god. That would be fun to see.
He has got A LOT of time to spend in the warlock halls prolly.
Since some guardians have names of gods or numbers and stuff.
Exos will be pretty interesting to him. Even though the story behind them is very dark and sinister
Yeah, and Clovis will just gloat to Lodi about he's intelligence and wisdom/immoral decision making with human subjects.
And the taken will be a sight for him for sure.
And I just realized he knew about the traveler, but not the inside.
If he goes into the pale heart he is going to have a field day about it.
i dont think we're letting people in anymore
Guardians and some coalition forces remain there but according to crow it's a designated no fly zone.
though it seems the potential threat the valence could have posed is gone
True.
Am I able to ask a question about the dlc story here? Or nah lol
#1394367773207040042 would be the place
Could the Witness be resurrected
let me reword that
summoned
like through an Echo?
No
The echoes themselves are the memories
You canât do anything beyond what they are themselves
He has no reason to fear the Cabal on earth unless someone gives him stories of their atrocities ahead of time
He'll arrive and he'll see allies, he'll be more intrigued by their language first and foremost, not their history
As for Taken and Scorn, no reason for him to interact with them and the chance of him encountering Hive are low but not 0
Where would he interact with Clovis?
As for the Hive having the light, he has no reason to believe our abilities are exclusive
The abilities are shocking on their own, adding "oh yea and this enemy faction also has some of our abilities" won't be that shocking to him
Insane theory.
What if Lodi as a linguist is able to solve the dreads language? What if a piece of lore from him in the future researching them enables us to solve it?
I wonder if Bungie has even thought of this lol
But it'd be really cool
I just had a dream about the Nine
The planets talking to the Guardian in a hypothetical dream space or something
Uranus or Neptune (not sure which) sounded similar to Alan Tudyk
very emissary of you
(Or Alan Tudyk's official Spanish dub voice)
Also, I think Neptune (or Uranus, not sure which was talking at any time because they were really close to each other) said that humanity would be "like a river"
Europa talked for some reason (sounded female)
And I think it said something and made a black hole appear behind the area where the Guardian was standing
strand reference...
i wasnt following the story closely but what does maya have to do with eof?
follow me to #1394367773207040042
Does orin have a ghost or is she mortal?
She had a Ghost, Gol, but he died during the Red War
ohh
I just heard Orin's English voice for the first time
very british innit
I played episode with conductor when it came out last year but I completely forgot her purpose. Why is she evil?/what does she want to accomplish?
She wants to bring the golden age back and also find her lost partner chioma esi. However she's too obsessed with this pursuit that she's lost all humanity and has even murdered the real version of chioma.
Also her method is going to be drowning the system in radiolaria and assimilating everyone
She wants to bring the golden age back like just because it was a prosperous time?
Because humanity basically lost everything and her line of thought is that because she lived through it sheâs the only one who can make humanity matter again
Iâm just about to finish the outer steppes strangelet
And I have no idea wtf is going on in this story
Canât discuss it here until Tuesday
Does anyone have recommendations on videos to watch to catch up on the lore?
Destiny 2's Lore and Story from its Light & Dark Saga was brought to a conclusion with the Light and Dark Saga. It also represented the start of the brand new Fate Saga with the new expansion "Edge of Fate." Join me as we recap everything that happened in The Final Shape & Destiny's 10th year of content including Echoes, Revenant, Heresy & a bri...
This is all the lore from the final shape up to edge of fate
Thanks! I appreciate it
Whats up with certain lorebooks having a empty 1st page thats unlocked last
I never figured out whats up with that
its odd idk
Who else has been loving the story and Lodi as a character
I think the story is really well developed so far and Iâm only halfway through it
I loved it as well as the side quests.
#1394367773207040042 for new content until Tuesday
I love the part when ||you|| and the ||are|| went to ||a|| and then ||nerd||
So I have a general question
What are like the biggest feats of the stronger characters in Destiny 2
Witnesss Xivu etc
Oryx
Well the witness momentarily ceased all existence in the universe
Oryx is afaik the first ânormalâ individual to ever master the power of the taken and kill a worm god
heâs also the most famous trans person in the universe
You might be interested in reading the Books of Sorrow. It covers rather a lot of the actions of the Hive Gods.
That said... what else...
Nezarec and the Black Fleet caused the Collapse... and many others like it, such as the Whirlwind on Riis.
Savathun nearly successfully contained the Traveler in her Throne World.
Savathun also killed Nezarec.
Rhulk tore a rib from the Leviathan.
There's a lot of stuff in Destiny, y'know?
Rhulk was definitely a redditor
it might be unlocked after the raid maybe?
like the 15th wish eventually?
If I remember correctly this has been a thing for a while now
oh that
no it's just an arbitrary "this means you unlocked the whole thing" page
it's kinda meaningless
it's the "title page"
So is Maya slowly redeeming herself in this expansion?
It also looks like she found her "perfect wife" in the raid
And I think it was before the message where ikora let her join the conversation like she was part of the team
true
what's the diference between the sol collective and sol divisive?
and the sol inherent
or is sol inherent a title
Sol Collective is the generic Vex that are across the system from Europa to Mercury. Sol Divisive is the Collective that split off into the Black Garden and started following the Witness
and Sol Inherent, from what I can tell, are Divisive Vex that have contacted the witness and become "religious figures"
Sol Inherent are the raid bosses
Frames built specifically to interface with darkness
And deliver it to the rest of the collective
So how do guardians experience death? Are they conscious, or do they just die and immediately feel the rez?
Nah ghost cam is canon
Itâs a skill you can learn
a pocket dimension outside regular time and space
it's still not really clear but it's been around for a long time
Oh neat
I'm an idiot I'm so sorry
So, since vex are becoming more diverse, who thinks kabr will one day have his moments in the spot light, since the last time we had a reference to him being alive was during ep echoes in a lore entry.
what lore entry is that
p sure he's like
assimilated
in the network
i could eventually see having allied vex (because it's sorta leaning into having allies from all species, which I think is going to be the eventual response to the winnower's logic by refusing to be one single stronger organism over all) but idk if that'd be kabr
It was in an entry in a weapon I think.
His in the network, like Asher, but with the copy's of the other Ishtar.
I think.
Most info I'm saying is from the top of my head.
He's not alive. He used the last of his light to create the aegis relic you use in VoG. He drank radiolaria even and was completely consumed by the vex. Not stored or existing within the network but fully gone.
you might be thinking of Praedyth
who did get stuck in the vault and had contact with the Ishtar copies
and was referenced in Echoes
`And as they neared the shimmering pinpoint, a rush of their voices:
"We need to warn themâ" "There's still a chanceâ" "SAINTâ" "Hold on to meâ" "I AM OWED THISâ" "Hurry, get Shimâ" "There isn't enough of me leftâ" "TELL ELSIE PRAEDYTH STILLâ" "Please, please waitâ" "Warn themâ" "I have to warn themâ"
They reached, a spiraling halo of desperate fingertips.
But only one of them would be first.`
it's important to note that it is the vex net so there's many, many simulations and timeline shenanigans happening (including an alternate timeline Osiris, who still has the light)
#1394367773207040042 for new content until Tuesday
How did Maya get hold of the Echo and become the Conductor?
It landed in the depths of Nessus, the planetoid itself essentially acting as a data hub for the vex
So a fragment or copy of Maya managed to reach it first
Right, sorry, I got them mixed when i posted that, didn't mean kabr, meant Praedyth, my mistake.
Imagine if it landed on Venus or near the vault. The storys would have been interesting. Like image if the echo warped the vault and create overlaying timelines on Venus's surface, like timelines created after the witness death, example the red war happens after the witness, or something.
Ok, thanks for the clarification.
Whats the name of Maya's daughter
nisa
Yes. Golden age developed a way to incubate a baby without the need for a surrogate iirc. I forgot what chioma called it.
Yeah I don't believe she'd be around anymore after the collapse or if she even ended up being born.
Wouldn't that just be cloning?
to expand on the dialogue
Maya Sundaresh: What did we name our daughter? Chioma Esi: âŚNisa. Maya Sundaresh: Elaborate. Chioma Esi: We⌠debated names for weeks. Parthenogenetic incubation was moving along fine in the lab. Chioma Esi: [takes sobbing breath] Then the Collapse. Everything happened so fast; we had to leave! Weâ
kinda? I'm no geneticist, but it can result in a full clone, or the mother's genes will get shuffled, resulting in a similar, but not identical child
Whats the 3 different stages of savathuns worm familiar? We had living, calcified, and what else
he's a gun right now
the inbetween was just the worm being dead
the final stage where we got it was actually calcified
the worm familiar that Sathona got on fundament, not the parasite
Uh
I mean the one that ikora put in the conclave for that one cutscene
yes
Also arent those the same?
yes, that is the worm familiar
it was never ingested as a parasite
it is a different worm from the one savathun had inside of her since becoming a hive
We obtained the calcified worm familiar from SavathĂťnâs Throne World and got a memory from it using the Enclave. SavathĂťnâs worm that we make the Parasite weapon with was obtained by Mara Sov from exorcising SavathĂťn in the finale of Season of the Lost
?
i mean it's not like the worm familiar actually did anything
that's why she just left it on a statue after everything was said and done
Mayaâs echo was able to âcommandâ III into our world
why are the other 2 echoes so mid in comparison
poor fikrul
They are not, it depends on the user and how well they understand the power of the echo
Mayas echo is strong in general because it has the ability to "Control"
then itâs fikrul whoâs mid
buddyâs biggest feat was crashing the helm
Witneth
Because mayas echo while still having the memory of another being inside of still didn't really act in its own. The other 2 echoes though they were pretty much sentient in nature with one choosing people worthy of its power and the other literally being a younger version of oryx.
I like this better
One thing that was a negative for me in revenant narrative wise
Was us being repeatedly told the echo of riis was acting stubborn
in heresy we actually get to see one do so with our own eyes
and nice dialogue as well
Fun fact the reason mayas echo has its controlling powers is because the memory of the being inside was a captain who had the ability to command entire space fleets through their mind. And once the battle was over they would release that command and everyone would become independent again
remind me later to photoshop giant buckteeth and thick nerd glasses onto the witness
i did it
I just saw something that said the embargo was over thats my had.
How many known cases of risen knowing who they were before they were rezzed are there?
Off the top of my head:
100%: felwinter, ana, crow, cayde, savathun, micah, the character from that loretab that remembered his past life and then died seconds later during the lightfall or TFS year
Maybe: eris, zavala, orin
Ikora may have remember this dlc (or at least know some parts thanks to Lodi), but the question I want to know is if they'll ever try to find the ruins of their work place or at least a golden age version of it cause there's a chance the organization remains active until the end of the golden age/first arrival of the black fleet.
Crow didn't at first. He woke up, saw the burial shroud on him and then every other guardian he met shot him so he kept a helmet on..
He only discovered who he was when savathun told him. Which sent him into a panic.
admittedly, valid.
You know speaking of cayde I still wonder why when the red legion attacked he thought the solution would be to fire a golden gun shot.
I don't think that would have done basically anything lol.
Ana bray and Shin malphur have been the only guardian to have notable achievements as gunslingers with ana supposedly having left scorches from her golden gun that are still burning
Shin malphur just has the title "the man with the golden gun"
Something like that
can guardian beat goku
Depends if the Guardian wants to beat Goku
and will never happen
Whatever you want to be true is
I am infact John Bungie and will get a dragon ball Destiny collab on the road
Bro is killing the game đĽ
Jokes aside Jojo collab instead
Jokes aside its so over
beyond over
it is BURNT
At this point make Demon Slayer collab and add the Infinity Castle as a raid
Ew
and the game explodes in popularity
Bro wants Jojo collab đĽ
EW

Prolly not.
Power can't be over 9000 anymore
We might have gotten there one day though
feeding retrophoenix 23 units of ether
Take a snack
So am I correct in my understanding that Maya killed the real Chioma Esi while sifting all the clones?
Yes. But ofc Maya still doesn't believe that was her chioma.
She is looking for someone who doesn't exist anymore but unfortunately with her echo no is not an option which makes her very dangerous and she generally has no regard for other lives.
Ik Iâm including Risen who found out later in life
He is too pvp brained and forgot how to adclear đ
One could argue that it was moreso Jarren Ward who achieved greatness with golden gun less so Shin
actually it was me because both of them are old and one is dead
Idk Jared was a notable guardian but it was Shin who killed dredgen yor and then earned that title among the shadows of yor and anyone else who knew about those events like drifter.
Shin is one hell of a draw no doubt
But in specifics to gunslinger aka Golden Gun he just uses the gun, its Jarrens light that continues to shine bright in it to this day
Spoiler rule has been lifted
Oh boi.
I'm still not saying anything though because I wanna hear @trim grotto s thoughts first on it before speculating and throwing out theories I already have
I wonder why bungie cut the scene of Us, Ikora and Lodi singing Dreamin' of the Past
It was so sweet
Like could Lodi as a linguist be the key to solving the dreads language one day?
Possibly
Also I find it a lil funny how Lodi says he knows NINE languages
True
I kinda want the Nine to stick around more in the ingame narrative for the simple reason that I really like how distinct their subtitles are
Iâll be playing the campaign with him at the weekend so
Likewise
Thats why I want to join
I'm just blown away by what they look like now that we've seen one of them. And I'm curious if the other members share that appearance.
Some biblically accurate angel looking stuff.
Its funny because I said the same thing when I saw the Worldline too
I'm cool though right?
Same. All these designs are definitely looking more like "Cosmic beings" than the regular stuff we see
Im willing to bet tho that even the form III had was just one of many possible
It was forced to make one
Also ive said this before but for the record
I really want Bungie to make Lodis phone an exotic
idfc how I just want it
Idk. Everything in this universe has to have some kind of form to keep itself together even beings like them and others like the winnower or even the lord of every nothing
Whether that was just one of the forms or what they actually look though we won't know until we possibly meet another.
To me IIIâs body looks like a black hole that has sucked in a lot of the surrounding environment to form a body. Its body is rock like. And then tentacles idk
Also what happens when one of the nine dies. What happens to the planet theyâre linked to? What will happen to earth now that III is gone?
The nine are linked to planets. But they aren't the planet itself
Yes theyâre linked so. What happens now. If anything? Just curious if thereâs any significance to specifically III (the one linked to earth) being the one to die
The Nine were created by the bodies in Sol, not the other way round
3 is dead. Maya killed them. And as they said this set off a chain reaction that will lead to extinction somehow.
We don't know what that event looks like yet though
All we know rn is to survive we must "bind the nine"
No clue what that actually entails.
Binding the nine is such a specific yet vague phrase
Also the âfate sagaâ will be about the nine yes? Or is it just this year that will focus on them?
Yes they will be the focus and we will be interacting with them as the story goes forward
Past the year of prophecy
This is a new multi year saga
So the saga will end with âbinding the nineâ Iâm guessing
We can assume that but we have no idea
Things could definitely change which lead to different outcomes
This saga is all about fate.
I hope we get to see more instances of the nine meddling with peopleâs lives
There probably will be. It's how they operate. Just look at Orin and Lodi.
They think in ways that we can't comprehend so no telling what goes on with them.
I mean like âoh yeah remember this thing that happened? That was the nines faultâ
Also I love how IX just fanboys over Lodi the whole time lmao
Well we don't know.
Like we do know the nine "caused" the red legions attack to be successful because a member of the nine knocked out the satellites that would have warned the city.
They probably have their foot in a lot of events big or small
all just to make sure Gol wouldn't make it home :(
They also basically killed Sjur Eido and also restarted the reef war by releasing skolas
Also why are V and VI such assholes
Theyâve never really been friends
Who knows maybe even the witness had contact with them at some point
The witness knows about Starhorse and eternity as a destination judging by the treasure room it tempts us with in Iconoclasm, so
There's a fued going on between the nine.
The outer and inner nine
a chain of events to lead us to glory, and Orin to becoming the emissary
part of their preparation
Neither of those are a good thing
They killed countless innocents because they wanted to see whatâd happen
VII and VIII seem chill tho
speaking of that
the vote to make lodi emissary was never really resolved
The nine don't care what's good because they don't really see it like we do. They get what they want and that's all that matters.
Like orin has been left messed up by them and yet the only thing they can say to her is "quitter"
hence why he's the Ambassador, for now
oh i just assumed they were using synonyms
they're too specific for that
kinda unrelated but it reminds me of how Orin speaks now. it's reminiscent of Synthesia. having to mix senses and concepts because there's no other way to describe it with language
Even now, magnetism is buzzing in his skin, achingly far from Human. (Did the prior two Emissaries feel this way?)
This suggests that yes, heâs an Emissary
yeah
tfw my legs turn to cadmium
Orin has a lore tab called Synesthesia so
and the name of the exotic itself. Third Iteration. third version
I'm like 70% sure that was literal. Orin also says something about her legs turning into a different element when she went through the process
The nine when voting saying one more vote is required. Obviously that was III and Iâm assuming III using Lodi to tell us its message was its vote for him being the new emissary
We don't actually know why Lodi was picked exactly. And also it looks kinda like ikora might have actually been the target. Or Nella at the time.
She heard the ringing and instead ran
She rejected the invitation and then ended up being hit by a train while trying to escape.
the nine quite literally sent a train to kill her
do we have any dimensions or measurements on the size of III?
I know. I'm just saying that she heard that phone before Lodi investigated it. What spooked her so much and she even looked at the flower she had on her.
no, because they're not 3 dimensional
we see a body tho
(unless you count III, but it's being dragged into a black hole so that's unreliable)
We don't know if that's all of it though. And as just mentioned, there's a black hole sucking it in.
It's colossal definitely but no way of knowing exactly how big
Absolutely, I was just looking for any speculation on what we saw. I gotta say, i was very impressed with the design they chose, very eldrich, very alien very incomprehensible
it's so hard to describe without echoing what they say in the game how... condensing. it must have been for III
like trying to exist in a painting indeed
"There are aliens and then there are ALIENS"
We got eldritch space god and biblically accurate harpy in the same expansion wth
Things are changing. We're dealing with much more cosmic threats now.
Beings that we might not actually even be able to fight conventionally
I loooved the design of the Witness and its final form, most of which was under the surface was a delight - something different from bipedal big lads
but the IX design is a step above, I can't wait to see the rest
I mean we been dealing with xivu for a while and she has that exact logic
Cannot be fought conventionally
for a different reason
No but xivu is still a physical being.
These new enemies are ones we might not be able to deal with by just shooting at them, even though that is how we mainly interact with this world in game
it's hard to fight someone who gets more powerful when they fight, but it's harder to fight something you literally cannot comprehend
We quite literally canât fight these guys through conventional means
Where do you aim the Hezen
These are 4th dimensional beings.
how do you punch a thought
Weâre not fighting the nine though right? Weâre helping them?
It'd be like trying to fight gravity
it's. unclear. we don't know what "binding" them means
No clue. Again all we know is we have to bind them
Whether that means helping or fighting is yet to be seen
Maybe we have to fight some in order to bind them, the more stubborn ones like V and VI maybe?
but even still, all this is part of their planning. they know what it means. and for them, it's already happened
stupid nine and their stupid omnipresence
We don't have any way of "fighting" them either.
So far only mayas echo has been shown to be able to affect them.
Eramisâ echo
and that's just because she has a tool that's fundamentally rule breaking
Not in sol anymore
the Echo of Riis just had control over Ether, anyway
Also what are the chances we find other echoes in the course of this saga. There was definitely more than 3
unlikely
Whyâs that
I just doubt they'd fall back onto it so fast
and we're done with the light and dark for now
afaik there isn't one
đ
no harm in believing that they're simulations though
yeah thats my headcanon lol
Not like immediately but further into the saga you know like a threat finds one and tries to use it to do some evil shenanigans with the nine
what about for why our guardian is the main guardian
we're highly adaptable
we're not the strongest by any means but we've proven to be VERY reliable first responders
Plot armour
How do you mean?
I think they mean why is our guardian the one that deals with all the big threats
Because weâre reliable and experienced
No problem
To elaborate a little more, weâre connected with a lot of important characters and have forged relationships with them as well, which also helps. Like how we help Eris in Shadowkeep (after also being the one who helped her get revenge on Crota) so now she considers us a close friend particularly. Whereas other random Guardians might not really know people like that and also still be learning just one subclass
we have to go to mount Doom
We are prodigal in a sense, that we have learned multiple subclasses well enough and have the intelligence and strength to deal with threats
a true jack of all trades
Weâre just the Gordon freeman
been thinking, if our Sol system has the 9 to rep its celestial bodies. then other star systems would have their own version of the 9 or what ever number of celestial bodies they have?
We don't really know what exactly made the Nine
I don't assume dark matter in a celestial body magically forms life
Not to mention only those with life would have a consciousness
Wasnât there that whole thing with 9 awoken being missing when the awoken were first born?
I dont think they are linked to the awoken - they say they had been around long before the traveler
but then again, they are extra dimensional, so time might be a bit funky with them as well
Best new lore of the expansion is the fact ghosts have a community theatre group and made a play called âoryx the nightmare daddyâ
does he know?
Do I know what đď¸ đ đď¸
that is referencing a piece of lore from years ago
"Still I die afraid at your sisters command" - III
What did it mean by this
It said that to Maya I believe
That was III speaking to us through Lodi about Maya
It calls us âchildren of my Earthâ, so I assume the âsisterâ thing is because it sees all of us is its children and thus each others siblings spiritually yk?
Aaaah I get it
All children of Earth are 'siblings' making Maya our 'sister'
@jagged badge also you got any clue what our Guardian actually does there?
Like did we just pop a healing nade for Lodi
Yeah basically
That is hilarious somehow
Also its insane how much happier he looks in the ingame cutscene vs pre rendered
Something about the difference in face texture idk
The Alchemist was mentioned in the lore book from the raid
The Alchemist is named as a future expansion in the fate saga basically the last
There was a lore tab with nine red herrings or rumours for what the nine were, but we know what they are now
Did anyone else notice that the broken down jumpship from that one Lodi sidequest bears the last city mark?
Which is?
NINE
The Nine are survivors of the cis-Jovian colonies who made a compact with an alien force to ensure their own survival.
The Nine are deep-orbit warminds who weathered the Collapse in hardened stealth platforms.
The Nine are ancient leviathan intelligences from the seas of Europa or the hydrocarbon pits of Titan.
The Nine arrived in a mysteri...
it was grimoire but y'know
same difference
So. Which of them is it
none of them
however, the entities listed in this entry do all exist and have some relation to the Nine
The Nine are the shadows left by the annihilation of a transcendent shape, burned into the weft of what is.
Cant you bridge this to the garden game?
I have not bought the dlc
Which they most likely had to have at least some connection to considering their paracausal nature
I thought they were
it's explicitly stated they are not in game
Would be wild if they had the idea of the Echos as early as D1
I don't recall where, might have been in a lore tab
They are made of dark matter. Which despite the name has nothing to do with darkness right?
correct
Yup
I wonder if we will get any more dark matter abilities in future expansions
The three we got were pretty cool
I like matterspark more than sparrows. Which we could use it off of Kepler
That still doesnât clear it up for me outside of what we already know
That theyâre dark matter beings linked to the orbits of each planet + the sun
There aint that much more that we know of anyway lol
But. Why do they exist is my question.
I think they just naturally came to be
Itd be like asking where the Gardener and Winnower came from
why does anything exist
why do we exist
etc. etc.
Cause the Gardener was a sore loser and had a massive crashout

We exist because humans evolved because the earth became habitable because the solar system exists because because because the Gardener was a sore loser and had a massive crashout
One thing leads to another
Keep climbing up the chain and thats where you end up if you trust in Unveiling (debatable)
But if they just exist just because. Then that sets the precedent that EVERY planet in the universe has a sentience attached to it
And if they all control fate the way the nine do. Is free will really a thing?
oooo we going very fundamental today
Humans need optimal conditions to exist, these dark matter beings wouldnât
What would the optimal conditions be that exist in our solar system that arenât in others

Other than. Human life.
We simply dont know (yet)
Also random question but do we know WHICH of the nine let ghaul in undetected
We have free will for sure since we're paracausal
We are a big middle finger to basically every fundamental law of the universe
That has been shown to be slightly untrue in this expansion no?
Its likely that the Nine with their inherently different perspective on time are simply better at 'diverting the river of time' so to speak
They can nudge things in a way that makes certain outcomes more or less likely
Like killing Ikora in the place she did
âWho put this train on the highwayâ
They likely couldnt have been 100% certain that everything would play out the way they did
But it was one important step
Well they see time as a flat surface right?
They see everything that has played out and will play out
Essentially
So they must know by killing Nella Davis, it would lead to the events of edge of fate
Why did the traveler happen upon us as the people to make guardians with
Killing Nella in that specific place at that specific time is likely an important piece to get the timeline into the direction of this outcome
Oh I know this one
She got a call from Bungie telling her to come to Sol
They were making this cool game what was the name
Density 1?
Something like that
Do you think letting ghaul in was essential to this plan or just one of the outer nine being an ass?
They punished it for it, so
Not for fun. Donât the outer nine like. Want us to die
It was a completely spur of the moment decision
Maybe there was a different way the desired outcome could be achieved but the homie just said nah lets let Ghaul scoot over there
I wonder which one it was
If Ghaul got his way heâd have taken the traveler back to torobotl and used the almighty to wipe out the system
they did it in hopes of learning how to claim the Light
Probably V or VI. They seem overly aggressive
arent there two a's in there
Torabatl?
No
It's Torobatl

they need us to live
They pronounce it torobottle
Learn english smh
she's from upstate new yorkobatl
Where do we think renegades will take place? Any ideas?
Iâm thinking the main enemies will be scorn and the psion enclave
Unlikely pre Vex Mercury
Those are the only 3 options we got
One less likely than the other
Skolas is still out there. Let him be like a scorn mafia boss
Guess we'll see
What was that Riis boogeyman that they talked about in splicer
Make that a secret disciple
Boom new pyramid raid
We need more of those
what if one of the Nine brings a Cabal from the past?
Let it be the guy who previously owned WInterbite
no
Still kinda mad we never got virtually any hint of who that was
Renegades main villains are skolas and yirix is my prediction
Crashes into the Exodus ship
Tanks high caliber round like it was nothing
Disappeares and leaves bigass glaive behind
*Is never seen or heard from again
Whoâs yirix
Psion
Worked for Calus then the Witness
From that one exotic mission I forgot the name
Risen season
iirc
Yes
It seems like yirix has acquired dread followers after the witnessâ defeat
The day we get a voice acted psion is the day I die
Yirix be the first. Give em a texan accent
Letâs goooo
And a lil cowboy hat
Skolas: this town ainât big enough for the two of us
Yirix: Damn right.
Id be funny if Shin returns for Renegades
Its unlikely they seem to be very much done with him and have been since like the Forsaken days
But I wouldnt mind it
isn't it supposed to be nezarec
If renegades follows a similar plot to Star Wars weâre gonna be helping a rebel alliance against a galactic empire they builds a planet destroying weapon.
I doubt theyll lean that much into the starwars thing
Considering what theyve initially said theyre morso using the general contept as the groundwork for their own story
And also if Han Solo randomly walks in during the mid-story plot twist I am blowing up both Bungie HQ and Disney
Idk I think a story where the psions try to rebuild the almighty to destroy mars would be kinda lit
Why would they rebuild the almighty (crashed on earth) to destroy Mars
If anything they'd wanna snipe the Traveler out of the sky or some shit
Well alright maybe not just mars. Maybe the whole solar system
For that the Almighty would have to go back to the Sun and eat another shit ton of space rock for fuel
Again, the Almighty crashed basically in spitting distance from the Last City
If they get that thing airborne again the Vanguard is officially useless and should be executed on the spot
What if it fed on the dark matter of mars itself
Idk Iâm just spitballing here obviously we have no idea how renegades will go
What were the nine going to do if Ghaul won the red war and used the almighty like he planned
Throw their hands in the air and go âwelpâ
The other eight would scorn at the one that let him in for eternity
"ah fuck ggs"
What was the name of lore entry where winnower said imagine world without me
Books of sorrow but which one
Renegades will just be using the space western vibes and aesthetic that star wars is known for but through the destiny lens. It'll still be an original destiny story.
As for rebuilding the almighty that wouldn't go unnoticed for a ship that massive and they definitely don't have the man power for it.
Renegades is gonna be about Maya recruiting the new Dredgen to repair Koregos and turn it into a death star
damn I need to remind myself to read some exotic lore tabs again because I forgot how metal Mask of Bakris' is
is III Earth ?
it's the member created by Earth's gravity well
the nine are not the planets (and star) they personify
yeah, they go in order 1-8 and 9 is the sun
what is gravity well...?
the gravitational field the planet creates
the dark matter uses the gravity to loop
we don't know how exactly it all works but by looping, it allows it to 'live', and sentient life allows them to think

anyway to better explain, imagine spacetime as a fabric stretched over the universe, anything with mass is placed on the fabric, weighing it down, and forming a "well" that can capture lighter objects.
without friction, sometimes a thing can hit the right angle, and go around an object forever, that's how orbits work

what the fuck is koregos like in general besides being a harpy
Not sure yet. But judging fromthe name they are def a vex mind with quite a huge amount of control. Like this is VoG levels of power
The World Line is a threatening title to be sure
my friend told me that it was a "seraphim" rank vex that could alter timelines
like the second part i dont doubt fuckin look at the thing
but ????????
yeah that's not official
Still yet to see the lore for this raids
makes me think about the vex being a hivemind and if it is so then is there one entity at the center like a queen bee that controls them or do they all move to the same rhythm and theres just bigger vex to manage different things
i mean queen bee might not be the best example cause bees can just kill herif they dont like her afaik
we can speculate based on the name. the Choregos was a class of Athenians who were responsible for financing and preparing production that weren't funded by the government
Vex are no hivemind, They move as a unit and frames are built depending on task
for the Nessian Schism, that Queen Bee is Maya
but usually they've got a decentralised power system
Choral vex are the only vex that behave like that
also the name can be broken down as Chorus-Leader.
Or conductor
and the Conductor considers her vex the Chorus
it's likely to be a Vex Mind that she's taken control of, or one that she's actually made herself
by vog levels of power do we know that it can do at least similar things as atheon or
a vague idea of what it does
Service as a choregos, though an honor, was a duty for wealthy citizens and was part of the liturgical system designed to improve the city-state's economic stability through the use of private wealth to fund public good. Choregoi paid for costumes, rehearsals, expenses of the chorus (including training, salaries, board and lodging), scenery, props (including elaborate masks), special effects and most of the musicians.
it's essentially Athens using the rich to fund the arts. like a cool tax
are most vex bosses actually named after something
i thought a lot of it was just like fantasy naming conventions and sounding cool
Sorta
they follow a Greek-ish theme
or terms from science
things like Argos and Panoptes (both named for the same Many-eyed giant from the Odyssey)
some names are original though
like Belmon and Quira
SHould I continue?
what is the moirai lore referring to? lodis past life?
Most likely
the only part that confuses me is the last 2 lines
its literally just âBenâ

btw I wonder
Why Lodi seems to have more freedom than the emissary (Orin)?
Is it because he still new ?
I feel it's also kinda because the vote wasn't really finalized
hmmm
maybe it was after III was briefly revived
perhaps the IX wanted to give him some more autonomy to se how it would work out
yeah Lodi technically isn't the emissary yet
A high unit Vex that was used to digitize the singularity
We dont know yet if its stronger than the VoG ones
But based on what it could do it might actually be the same level or even stronger
IX is really weird towards Lodi
He called Orin Quitter while Lodi was "beautiful boy."
Since they know all past, present & future, he must have known Lodi would quit/die at some point.
Yet still, "beautiful boy."
To get a member of the nine impressed in you that much must be a great feat xD
Never seen a character this beloved in a really long time
I say that as a Savathun stan
Well, I can't help with the new expansion content, but I can probably answer anything about older content.
Literally anything, I know everything about most fandoms I like but I joined destiny so late im so ignorant on everything
Well, do you have any specific questions?

Otherwise this might be a good start - it's Witch Queen era so it's a few years old, but covers a baseline.

Mine is 5 minutes for comparison haha
Why are there cabal or shadow legion guys we are friends with but there's others that we aren't??
but it's also 4 years old
Its fine it dont matter i appreciate you both
the cabal we're allies with are under Caiatls command, the empress. the shadow legion is a mass clone army created by the former emperor turned disciple of the witness Calus, and the Red Legion Cabal are traitors to Caiatl or rogue groups who split off
The witness Calus? I thought the witness was just one person
Or thing
Ohhh Calus is a disciple i get it
The short version is that... the Cabal, as a warlike culture, tried to kill us with their various Legions. The Red Legion even stole the Traveler for a bit. But when the Hive (Specifically their god of war, Xivu Arath) destroyed their home planet, Caiatl, daughter of an old exiled ruler, became Empress, and she made peace with us in a very delicate manner so as not to cause her people to revolt.
Thus, the Cabal Ascendency - the blue ones who are our friends.
The Shadow Legion work(ed) for the Witness, as a mixture of clones, brainwashed soldiers, and assholes. They were lead by Calus, the aforementioned old exiled ruler and Caiatl's father, who became obsessed with the end of the universe and thus started working for the Witness.
Then there are the randoms, like the remnants of the Red Legion, who just do whatever at this point.
the witness is technically a conglomeration of a few billion individuals but that's a digression
they caged it
IS IT A PLANET EVEN OR IS IT LIKE EGO OR MOGO
the traveller is not a planet. it's closer to asteroid size if anything
The Traveler? It's a being. A... sentient entity. Also not that big.
Oh it looks big on the map
True. But it used to float above the Last City.
here is the caged traveller over the City
Some examples
much much smaller
Pluto wouldnât fit in a city within Earthâs orbit
I wish it'd come back down :(
Pluto is much bigger i underestimated
