that shit was peak ngl
Skolas having done Vex shit after being freed by the Nine does echo in the Exiles, the Nine and the Vex all being on Kepler
if we ain't fighting for the glory of the Separatist Alliance, then I don't wanna hear it
also i swear if we get any moments like this in Renegades i will demand a refund
wacky space stuff is a feature of Star Wars
i meant more of the horrendous humour
Kinda the whole vibe of star wars lol
if you want Star Wars, then you will have to deal with it
i dont mind the wacky
Like I want someone to give me the whole elegance talk when I get that lightsaber
Ghorman Massacre time
they had to do a long winded introduction about how this is moving the story forward but theyre "paying homage"
i think bungie just paid lucas to use lightsabers and stuff
clouds of space dust tethered to the gravitational loops produced by the planets and sun of Sol
interesting
time to go find out more
I know they orchestrated some events in the past
like making sure we didnt detect the Red Legion approaching the city during the Red War
Dust lore book
theyāre a group but dont they kinda have their own agendas
as individuals
Green Fallen are House of Exile
we fought them back in D1 on the Moon
no clue who Lodi is though
And we didnāt get rid of them all?
Also Orin
Byf says he was mentioned in vesper's host
Byf says a lot of things
Astraea: Warning! Unauthorized message coming through the Anomaly! Data follows⦠Lodi transmitting. Status moonsick, adrift. Odysseus protocol active. It repeats from there. Do you recognize the code?
Soā¦
Lodi was the one sending the signal?

well yeah he was
Maaaan I donāt got the time for this
but other than that, nothing
Rite of the Nine and a new GTA trailer came out today
And Iām going to the arcade with my brother
We'll have to wait and see
Lodi might infact be the one who sent the message in vesper
Judging from the trailer this guy was def adrift and has had something done to him
How are the scorn or fallen able to just turn into smoke and move around?
is it just something they can do genetically?
Only scorn and itās because theyāre undead zombies raised by magic
Fallen use technology to teleport short distances
Curious what the lore behind the fallen having strand is.
Unless this is some kind of anomaly where all sorts of things are clashing together and we're seeing "what ifs" of everything
Fallen receiving support from one of the nine
Feel like the eliksni even though we have shown darkness to not be inherently evil would still be cautious and prefer to stay away from it.
Eramis and house salvation being the exception ofc
House exile being exiled and using anything they can
Given Kepler is closer to the Nine's "realm", it's likely Strand manifests there enough for the Fallen to harness through technology.
Guess we'll just have to wait a see what happens. I know the lore is prolly gonna be super interesting
It's confirmed. Lodi is the dude in edge of fate meaning he's the guy that sent the transmission in vespers host
Itās beyond light 2
Moonsick makes a lot more sense given him having visions and clearly not being all there
what is the current state of the Sol Divisive with the witness dead?
We donāt know
They're sad
oh?
Probably confused.
makes sense
Maybe they'll try to go back to the main Vex collective
think they remain isolaed to the black garden now?
May cause a civil war

well the vex is already in a civil war
with the conductor
Anyone know if Byf has a catch up video from Eris' Season before The Final Shape to now?
I've been out for awhile and wanna at least catch up on the lore.
Unfortunately not but there are still videos talking about the topic from byf if you just scroll for a bit.
RIP. 45 hours of YouTube videos, here I come. š š¤£
Ok so like
The subway car
What is human technology doing so far away?
Itās even more interesting that itās not golden age humanity stuff
For a time, but not forever. They may seek out new sources of Darkness or paracausal energy to fulfil their function.
Since when
since D1?
they have subway cars
Destiny 1 - Story Replay 58 - Mission - Tenebrous Tunnels (Bracus Sho'ogurn) - Mars, Meridian Bay, Freehold Station, Tharsis Junction - Taken. I started a new series where I replay all the (replayable) missions, quests of Destiny, and I'm adding the strikes as well, all in some sort of order. This is going to be a long series so make sure to sub...
burn
With Renegades and the by design Bungie tweet, I feel like the big reveal is going to be that weāre all inside a video game and we can shape our reality or something.
I know I bait, but Iām being genuinely serious
The Nine break the 4th wall so much

they don't
every mention of a game they've said has referred to the one unveiling is about
they tell drifter to "keep playing the game" when relating to gambit because it helped guardians get used to the idea of using darkness
the game between the gardener and the winnower isnt over, it just isnt the main focus of the story now (and it wasnt really before, that was all the witness being an idiot)
The Game of Light and Dark. The Dredgen, the Forgotten Blade, and the Hourglass - Drifter, Eris, Elsie. The first to command the Dark without corruption. Our "dark vanguard".
The only actual fourth wall break from them is Dares which is both barely canon and not actually Nine related
There is the "O Player Mine" from the Ahamkara and in general their entire thing but which does have the theme of Destiny being a game but I don't think they're ever going to do anything in-game about it, because of the whole nature of it
So we're getting a "Strand MatterSpark Saber" in top kinetic slot A-La Ergo Sum style
True, though of course the Ahamkara are a while different kettle of fish. Very strange saying, by the way.
Says who?
What?
Speculating connecting the lore dots from the livestream info
Well, the lightsaber weapon does look green
People think Vader gonna show up in Renegades
For Star War expansion this is before or after in Imperial War?
Neither because itās not about Star Wars
it's after the edge of fate, hope this helps
The licensing from lucasfilms is for the ornament sets and whatnot
We are just going to a location that is a desolate lawless frontier
the reef 2
I personally think it takes place during the og trilogy
to be real, Renegades is not in the Star Wars continuity
it's solely in Destiny
Not as funny tho
at the very least, they will probably say that the weapons and gear we get there are from the Star Wars galaxy
not just that, themes as well
I'm betting that the Dredgen that is mentioned is a stand in for a Sith lord
Even though thatās basically what forsaken was
Forsaken was space western
Theyāre doing a book of boba fett obviously
thatās what tatooine is
Renegade is based on tatooine specifically
Weāre literally doing a crime syndicate thing
nono, itās notoonie, legally distinct
you can't just look at space desert and say Tatooine
I think a bad bounty hunter would be more fitting. Like imagine if we're chasing someone like Cad bane or boba fett

I'd prefer if we get a proper lightsaber duel
Weād better pull out another one liner like we did in BL
maybe the Dredgen is working for an evil member of the Nine and is trying to tempt us to join them
If we're on a desert planet though PLEASE give us something that looks like a sarlac.
"Good news everyone, we're getting will of the thousands back!"
I want to see a big monster or even just a big skeleton of something resembling that
Reskinned Xol strike boss confirmed
I'm thinking personally that Renegades will follow aesthetics and themes from the criminal underworld and original trilogy aspects of Star Wars
Exactly like imagine a giant dead worm poking it's open mouth out of the ground
I'm gonn abe honest though, I see people be way too negative about Renegades
As for who we fight I feel fallen would be best as a stand in for those Tatooine scavengers we see like during the pod race.
I forgot their actual name
Because they canāt read
āOuuguhfh destiny is jumping the shark!!ā
We have a Slimer ghost shell with a butt
This isnāt new
Tusken Raiders, and I'm pretty sure it;s going to be Cabal focused
I'd agree but fallen getting two big dlcs in a row, THEORETICALLY three with plaguelands coming back, would certainly be a choice
It's most definitely going to feature cabal and I'm 99% sure this is a mars DLC
Plaguelands is one of the updates that comes out with Edge of Fate
It's a established that the eliksni and red legion are working as pirates in plunder
iirc there WERE cabal pirate crews in Plunder, right
Not just normal rebels
there was pirate cabal in that Cayde comic too
Yeah but obviously there's gotta be some focus there and the fallen were a big part of that
Cabal deserters were in the ranks of the Old Crews
there were even some pirate lords who were Cabal
Shadow legion were also noted as "mercenaries" for Fikrul with a tenuous alliance
But hey, maybe it's someone weaponizing taken influence or something
Hive clearly aren't gonna be playing a part anytime soon, vex might make sense as "droids"
Everyone drew that comparison long ago before we had the lore on the vex we do now.
Something I'm most interested about is who is the new dredgen. And call me crazy but what if we end up in alimos town or dwindlers ridge? A dredgen would obviously have ties to dredgen yor.
Apologies if I spelt the town wrong
Dredgens dont have ties to Yor?
Most of them were just fans of his or just liked his style
No Dredgen besides undercover Shin even met him
the title Dredgen did originate from Yor
Obviously
What I meant by ties was more they'd investigate yors past and stuff like that. Like how some of the shadows found yors ship and deciphered his texts
Watch Shin casually hang out on Tattooine in Renegades
you know, when I said "Grievous will be in Destiny 2 in 1 day" yesterday, I was joking
we Grievous fans have been taking Ws lately
first he's in Brawlhalla, then Fortnite, and now Destiny 2
Off topic but what did y'all think about the revelation that Orin was the emissary against her will?
Wasnt that known?
we knew she wasn't exactly fully acting on her own accord
I don't believe so. Iirc the story goes she just went looking for the nine and ended up becoming the emissary
when Prophecy first came out, she said she had to force a reprieve form the EMissary so she could talk to us
The nine are just looking more and more malicious everytime we hear about them.
And now we can chalk down mind control
Isnt Xur living example that they dont like individuals and just turn people into their pawns
What im more interested in is Orin and Drifters reunion
Wasnt there an implication they had a thing before she became the Emissary
Not really a thing more just they knew each other.
Ah I thought it was supposed to be deeper than that
I believe so but we don't know the exact extent of that control. Like xur still has will but I always thought that if the nine need something he can just be controlled with the flick of a wrist
Right but he is still able to act "neutral" if that makes sense until the nine want him somewhere
So any guesses where the house of exiles have been the past several years since they showing up in the next dlc and they did use to call the moon home, think they just reformed after we dismantled house dusk?
I just realised something, could xur finally break free from the nine
I wouldnt be so sure
I'm not sure he has it in him
Ol tentacle face I fear is too far gone
i'm more interested in the implication that even the group in the nine that seemingly supports us doesn't have good intentions
I feel drifters haul is going to be the key. We've used it for pretty much everything nine related.
the Nine's primary goal was always to sever their reliance on us
no matter what group they are in
it's just that one group preferred to reach out to us while the other didn't
^^^^
I believe the process was for them to gather as much dark matter as possible to create some singularity
my understanding was the group of five wanted to reach some mutually beneficial solution
moreso they wanted to study us
so they used agents and emissaries to interact with us
When I meet a member of the nine I shall punch that big pile of sentient dust for hurting my man xur.
If the nine did decide to take a form I do wonder what that would look like
Like the witness but with the white and blue aesthetic maybe?
So like
Orin basically quit being the emissary
It feels like theyāre in the process of making the nerdy guy from the trailer into the next one
Either that or heās just having some other major problems
He's "moonsick" as said in vesper which is another way of saying he's been driven to insanity
And being adrift with no one would prolly be the cause of that
(lunatic is called that for a reason)
So he was the person who was transmitting in vespers or was that in the same lore tab
Yes Lodi was the one transmitting
was Lodi also the entity that mind controlled all those fallen into building the anomoly?
He's calling out for help.
No. We still don't know what that was
It might be discovered in edge of fate though
oh okay cause for a moment i was thinking "why the hell are we helping the guy who mind controlled a lot of fallen who just wanted to live in peace"
Hell it could very well even be the nine who were pulling the strings
likly yeah
Ok so chat. Lore-wise, what are the implications of the ARG? Will we revisit it at all or will anything be explained?
All we know is that it acts a lot like egregore in the sense that it melds minds together
And 1 leader then commands the collective
In vespers case the white captain
ARG?
ah
So what exactly was the "twist" that Riven put on Crow's wish
bringing back cayde it seems
or did she just bank on the fact that Cayde would kill Crow first thing
she didnt need to fuck with it lots
probably not
she genuinely wanted crow to succeed since she wants her clutch to live
For riven standards that was a pretty damn tame wish yk
to be fair she wouldnt get anything in turn for fucking over crow
The feeling
it was genuinely out of shits and giggles rather than sustenance and shits and giggles
Cayde himself. Crow didn't wish for his revival.
not purely out of malice, they actually get something back from twisting wishes
its not just for fun
its absolutely also for fun
Riven is a bungie writer huh
Checks out
but when they twist wishes, the more they twist the wish while still granting the wish, the more... power? sustenance? they get
riven probably did it to dig back up crows past to fuck with him, he did deeply regret the actions of uldren
Its like that one Supernatural episode
You get yo wish but with an evil twist
Yes ive been watching Supernatural recently, sue me
(also bungie needed literally any excuse to bring back cayde)
Thats why I said Riven is a Bungie writer
@trim grotto btw I picked up the CE for Edge of Fate, want me to scan the lore shit for you to dig through when it arrives?
Incase im the first who gets it obviously
@clever hill
Osiris was the Warlock Vanguard prior to Ikora Rey, who was once his apprentice. He has since lost his Light, but was once one of the most powerful Lightbearers to exist. He's extremely well versed in the goings on of the Vex, and his obsessions once led to his exile from the Last City.
He currently acts in an advisory role to the Vanguard, and is the partner of Saint-14.
Prime Osiris was quite the guy yeah
Honestly I had no idea it was even available. I only just became available. But yes! That'd be a fantastic boon.
bird grandpa
It dropped last night along with the reveal stream
Had to setup a new bungie store acc cause my old one is broken or sum idfk
But I got it
yeah at 3AM
and i get up for work at 5AM haha
Unfortunately he lost his Ghost, Sagira. During a battle with the remnants of Crota's brood, deep within the Hellmouth, he was trapped by Xivu Arath and her High Celebrant. Sagira sacrificed herself to create a ward of Light, saving his life, but rendering him mortal and Lightless.
He has, however, been learning to use Strand.
Worthy to note that bro went doom slayer on their asses briefly
Spamming supers and shit
And then Savathun swooped in and took over his body for a solid content year :)
hey so i have now see the trailer
is there anything i should look at elsewhere or
Wdym?
like extra info the teaser trailer didn't show
Theres an ingame cutscene thats already teasing Orins struggles ig
[Message Link](#šdestiny-media message) to #šdestiny-media
Oh also theres a little cutscene you can activate in the rite area
Replay_2025-05-06_20-18-08.mp4
to be fair i haven't done the chess stuff yet
There we go
just gonna download that because discord embeds dont play well sometimes
A timeless classic yeah
"Make known your value, so divided gods may wield you in time" goes quite hard
I believe there are some collectibles inside the dungeons for the new lorebook, not sure if it adds more cutscenes too tho
If you stand infront of Orin turn around back to where you spawned in first time
Left side
Its a floating engram shaped uh thingy
Has some glowing effect
Walk up to it and interact
Thanks Iāll do that later
Renegades mentions an Empire
Weāre getting evil Zavalaš„
@blazing wasp told you
Palpatine, zavala, whats the difference
Exactly
uhm akshually pulpyteen is obviously a warlock
Imagine Bungie just fucks up the Star Wars lore so bad that Guardians are canon and Sith are all arc Warlocks
Thatd be funny
as long as it isn't a double edged sword
there are some fucking qualms floating around right now
New Dredgen too
Cryptarchy's lost a mod over this star wars stuff
An outer rim sounds so good though, opens up the possibility of a bounty system
Lmfao
Like the Tangled Shoreās WANTED
I wish they had chosen Warhammer instead of sw
Emperor raid boss
Absolutely not surprised, I presume they thought it was woke too
What's even the point of Dredgen now anyway?
Guardians be using two flavors of Darkness. Must really be an edge Lord lol
Idk a Dredgen resurgence sounds awesome
Drifter uses the title to piss them off
Renegades has me believing we may actually get enemy Guardians
The mod in question is a friend. Many people are concerned over the corporate nature of the crossover and how it will negatively affect the future of Destiny, as well as having qualms about Disney as a company. "Woke" is... I don't know where that came from.
Oh?
Usually they go hand in hand, sorry to hear though
It's extremely irrelevant to the majority of issues people have. Besides, we're a lore server and this is Destiny. "Woke" is part of who we are.
I haven't formed an opinion yet. But I get it.
Yeah the Cryptarchy is not the place for anyone who is āanti-wokeā
I think it looks really good, the lightsabers look so cool
havent been much there but from what ive seen cryptarchy seems like a pretty chill place
You've fit in well
Iām just tired of people going online and hating everything, Star Wars, Saint and Osiris. Just let things exist
Thereās nothing wrong with it
impossible
Real
Im waiting till its actually out to form my opinion
I dont really like starwars in itself but who knows Bungie might still make this at least decent
I hope for it to be original more than anything cause yeah
I think there are valid critiques of this, and itās reasonable to be against this concept
pretty much
I also think some people have majorly jumped the gun about it too though
Iām just very easy going, I like everything
Iām like that too tbh
Or try to
Naturally with destiny fans
We do love complaining about things we dont have nearly enough information about
a lot of the "jumping the gun" came from not actually paying properly attention to what bungie revealed
thinkin its a star wars dlc
I watched the teaser and felt nothing but excitement. Then came on here and saw a warzone
Even like Curse of Osiris, I always go in with the attempt to find at least one positive thing. Itās the best way to be
I mean compared to everything we've had in destiny so far thats exactly what it is
it has inspiration from star wars, which appears to mostly be gun and armor
Blaster exotic!!
the story might be inspired by starwars at most but
it wont literally be starwars like i saw a concerning about of people think
Itll depend how hard the lean into established starwars stuff but we wont know till theres more info
I do understand the other view though for people who arenāt into Star Wars
I think my personal issue just comes from Disney being a bit of a collar tugger
The theme could be fine - easy enough to work in
It seems all consuming
If our guardian shakes hands with luke skywalker im blowing up Disney
Right?
see people genuinely thought something like this would be possible

that we'd have the story actually have star wars in it
It might, we dont know
its unlikely since the dlc wont actually have star wars
Itseems like arc energy
They revealed far too little to draw any sort of conclusions
And putting something into a sword isnāt exactly unheard of
they probably wouldnt have said it wasnt going to be a star wars dlc if it was one
š
I saw the blue one
Maybe itās strand
Strand saber
We already had a Star Wars dlc even.
?
saying it has some inspirations from star wars and having actual star wars characters are very different
It looks like an Imperial ship too
its like plagiarising and saying it draws parallels from that story
If youre referring to the previous starwars collab thats not a dlc thats a collab of 3 armor sets, ship and some emotes
I knew John Andor would appear in Destiny
https://www.dexerto.com/destiny/destiny-2-star-wars-collab-release-date-armor-sets-more-3049185/
Still be decent size collab lol
Its a purely cosmetic, non canon collab
Nobody is calling that a DLC
That aint a dlc my guy
i suddenly understand why some people think ROTN is a dlc.
Basically. It screams corporate, from an infamous coporation at that, and it's immersion harshing in a way we've rarely seen before.
That said... the actual content seems interesting. I'm here for the long haul, and I like what I've seen so far otherwise regardless.
Okay, I see the view. I get the IP intrusion fear
Fortnite and its consequences for the TrippleA gaming industry
You could honestly write an essay on Fortnite and its domino effects
Personally though I'm very excited to see how the Orin story goes
Yeah! Been since Jokers Wild since we saw her
Well, Prophecy. But yeah.
If she has a chance to break free then so does Xur
JUSTICE FOR MY BOY
I... don't think he wants to.
His will shall be his own once more!!!!!
He does trust

Here's an oddity
Bungie has a new game coming out that's technically already officially crossed over with Destiny. But there's been no further indication they would do anything with that.
Would give Marathon more of a PR boost
We raiding the pink pony club???
Yes!!!!
Donāt be silly, how can an exotic shotgun also be a villain?
HOTTOGO
WOW ALEX
Silence.
š
Mod
Abuse
this is historical erasure
Idk what youre talking about
I see no erased messages

No judge is gonna believe you
they specifically made a point of how "definitively destiny" it is
Do I need to be a D2cord moderation whistleblower
That means absolutely nothing coming from a PR stream
to be fair
Tread lightly
if you don't trust bungie you shouldn't complain before you see things either
well one of you is in the Vanguard and one of you isn't Alex so there
I neither do nor dont trust Bungie
Im simply voicing my concerns and will wait for it to actually come out before I form a proper opinion
Ruh roh
well erm
that's at least just what the fallen call whatever it is
What if you invite me to that super secret server of yours huh
Ask Eris or Ven
Let me join the cool kids club and you will benefit
i am intrigued
A moderation server featuring mods from various lore servers, D2cord included, as a way of sharing information about particularly infamous characters who are likely to server hop
Brainchild of yours truly
well done

i kid you not, an entire species.
actually it not they
hm?
the witness' refered to as an it
just about everywhere? i'll give the first example taht comes to mind
Excision Cutscene | Destiny 2 - The Final Shape
#destiny2 #cayde6 #aydarkzero
"and shattered its grip on the traveler"
(like 20 seconds in)
Despite being formed of many, it is not the sum of its parts. It is a being in and of itself.
i see
When it all combined it became something new
i feel like i need to point out that font, what is thatš
idk i just grabbed hte first one i could find
based
Why is the player the only one who can wield both light and dark
The player guardian
theyre not
Other Guardians can too.
we're the only one who can use prismatic, which seems to just be the ability to... mix?
We're the only one so far, to be clear.
Zavala implies only you can do it in TFS
only us can combine them like we do in prismatic
Exactly but why
normally using different subclasses, especially light to dark, is like... how to put it
How
changing a firing mode?
We were one of the first to learn to use the Darkness, and certainly one of the most adept, but people have been using Darkness before even we began to in Beyond Light. Just look at Drifter.
we communed with some traveler thing, which might be why
the traveler was undergoing a change mixing light and dark
We have the legendary power of plot armour
Yes, but not here.
plot armor is irrelevant to prismatic
Plot armor is build into every guardian
Its called paracausality duhh
It came free with your resurrection
Prismatic never existed before. The reason we've been able to master it is because of our time and experience in learning to harness Darkness as well as Light. This merging is new, and interactions with the Pale Heart have been limited - other Guardians simply haven't had a chance to learn this power yet.
plot armor is 30% damage resistance
Consider who was in the Pale Heart at the time of the campaign. Zavala does not know Darkness, he was morally opposed to it for centuries. Ikora Rey has been implied to have tried Stasis, certainly not mastered it. Crow does not know Darkness.
Cayde doesn't even have Light.
We were the only one who was in a state to actually use Prismatic.
I mean the Witness was there but whether influence came from that is questionable
Prismatic was the wild card against the witness. The whole idea was that the witness was not a master of light and dark, you are.
It was going to take both light and dark to win
you guys have probably seen this already but the in game preorder tooltip for renegades says it's about a "new dredgen"
Yes. A thorn lover I'm very interested to see what that means.
Crazy theory but imagine it's jana 14
Does anyone remember that theory about Rhulkās helmet, and the symbols. Like he had a Europa one? And it was kind of like CCTV over the planets
There was a similar theory about Nezarecs eyes as well
You mean the fact that soe of em looks diff?
Or what
Yeah
So how are these supposed to relate to our planets?
I believe the logo signifies Forces of the City which is the general foundry for various weapons and such
General Foundry š«”
It's on a lot of stuff on titan so possibly something to do with the facilities there.
is this that joke from that show i keep getting clips of
How I Met Your Mother
I havenāt watched that in years but
The joke has stuck with me
I do it too every time and it feels like no one ever gets the joke lol
Iām glad the salute emoji came out to help me illustrate it better haha
joke doesn't work without it haha
@trim grotto turns out there are additional cutscenes for grabbing the other collectibles
Earth and Venus I guess?
For the golden engram-shaped collectibles?
How do I see the cutscenes?
from what I've gathered there's new collectibles in the dungeon that then cause more of the engram-shaped doodads to show up
first cutscene is "free" then presumably the next two are from each collectable
which means we're also gonna get new cutscenes for the next 4 collectibles as well, presumably
I found both of the engrams though, and no cutscene.
idk I only checked an esoterrick vid and I saw multiple of the floaty engram doodads where the first one way so
So you turned around in the Rite of the Nine area and thereās not the floating engram there
Cutscene shows up if you go into Eternity (destination) walk out of the little cave you spawn and turn around
The engram will be floating there and you just interact
Ah, ok, thanks
Genuine question
Weāre presuming the Giver is the Octopus
Wait
Lord of Nothing?
I think was the name
I doubt it
I'm actually almost certain that the Giver is one of the Nine
since there is a very likely theory that the Nine are based on the enneagram
the enneagram being a model for 9 distinct personality types
so we're fighting john cena
not all members of the Nine could be a threat to us
while true their primary goal is to sever their reliance on us, some might not really want to oppose us
so we're teaming up with john cena
This does seem to be the case based on that loretab that has a conversation between them.
doesn't the flavor text of the weapon even name drop enneagram?
"An enneagram tips, poised to shatter"
Yeah
Surely we get enneagram engrams
enneagrams
it serves the pun better though
Fair
enneaengrams
The Nine donāt seem too dissimilar from the Witness in honesty. Both present us shiny weapons to boost our ego, both guide us without ever telling us anything
I mean. There's a mild difference in ideologies.
At least Mara is upfront about her feelings and opinions
Wait
It was Lost wasnāt it? When she went full like cold and mentioned making Uldren her own personal Lightbearer
In Lost she barely knew him tbf
It was the first time she properly interacted with Crow
No like, her original plan was to get Uldren the Light and wield him
From the Kestrel Agers stuff
Well he clearly didnt do it hard enough
Plenty. They have cities.
Surely Oryx wiped out a huge chunk of them
In total? Unknown cause a ton of em still prob chilling in the black hole
Oh
Mara always was "Queen Bitch of the Universe" before encountering the Witness broke her ego.
It was straight up noted in Season of Defiance she ordinarily would never bother personally help rescue random prisoners
Whats your take on the new cutscenes btw?
Especially the Earth one
The ones that pop up after you grab the collectibles in Spire yes
Does the lore vault have it yet?
I haven't really seen them
I haven't had a chance to play this week and also my game is dropping down to 20 frames when I do for reasons I haven't figured out
I have no idea, but neutrinos is taken?
I pinged you with em
Right here my man
I gotchu covered
I'll take a gander later
Sterile Neutrinos
Mael!
An Eris
Might be worth checking out the lorebook pages that drop from the respective cutscene collectibles for more info
They knew it was an existential threat to themselves
oh you have to grab the collectibles? explains why i havent seen them yet
I have not played since light fall and never did the seasonal content for it, are there any good recaps/youtubers who cover what I missed? I noticed final shape was super discounted so I figured I'd come back to do it.

you think there might be shrek movie/ media in the destiny lore?
Jokes aside, the human past of Destiny is pretty much our history. So while it may not have survived the Collapse... It did likely exist.
this is part of my theory about clovis' descent into madness being due to lead poisoning from those painted garfield mugs
Pineapples
Why people talking about neutrinos
can someone please tldr me what we know about the nine so far? i heard that we used to have an activity trials of the nine a few years ago so we did hear about them
Space dust that played with us then dipped for a few years
ok and whats the story of Xur? he's supposed to be the agent of the nine but all he's doing is sleeping half week and then selling shitty rolls on the weekend
Became their puppet or something, hes crooked now cause of a titan I forgot, theres some lore books in game but I forgot which one
oh ok
and Dares of Eternity was created by the nine
thats all we know about the nine so far?
Dares of Eternity is weird
Orin (who would later become the Emissary of the Nine) was the one who crippled Xur
the Nine are clouds of sentient space dust that are bound to the gravity of Sol's planets and Sun
and they are reliant on the life that lives within them
if all life on Sol dies out, so do the Nine
they have been trying to find a way out of this
at first, five of them attempted to try and understand paracausality by studying the Guardians
they were the ones who used agents and emissaries to interact with us
then there were four of them who tried to create a singularity so they can create their own worlds to rely on away from any danger
though it seems that with the Witness's defeat, they started to divide even further
and the drifter is related to this story because the emissary (orin) is communicating with him?
and what kind of danger can affect them? from the dev insight on tuesday they sounds pretty invincible
for starters, they NEED us to live
without life in Sol, they cease to be
why?
ok but if some enemy kills all guardians/people its not gonna collaps the solar system
no, it will just kill the Nine
of course, we can;t really go with this route since it means we will be dead as well
it is worth mentioning that not all the Nine are really malevolent towards us
we don't know who exactly yet
so why we bothered fighting all these enemies we could just tell xur listen useless this guy is treatening us, tell the nine to kill them while we're fighting each other in the crucible
but the idea Bungie seems to be getting at is that each member of the Nine are an individual with their own ideas
the Nine are very inefficient in deciding how they act and what they tell us
plus, their understanding of our world is not perfect
there is a lot about us they don't yet comprehend
another thing to note
so it isn't 100% yet, but it is heavily implied that the personalities for each member of the Nine are based on the enneagram
the Division sidearm's lore tab is about the growing division between the members of the Nine and the weapon's flavor text specifically mentions the term
furthermore, we know that the House of Exile in Edge of Fate are following an entity called "The Giver"
so it is likely that Edge of Fate will have us encounter one of the Nine who is designated as the Giver on the Enneagram
nice
ok im reading a summary of the last 3 episodes because i pretty much stopped playing at the final shape finale
all that happened since then is echos of the Witness were found, someone tried to use it to control some group, we killed him and neutralized that echo, and thats about it
right?
nothing else i should know about the story progress?
one Echo was found by Maya Sundaresh who used it to take control over the Vex on Nessus. Her plan was to spread the radiolaria under her command all over Sol to usher in her idea of a new Golden Age. She also wanted to find her wife, but she was so deluded that she killed her when she found her. We end up stopping her plans, but she escaped with the Echo.
Another was found by Fikrul who wanted to use it to turn living Eliksni into Scorn and become the Kell of Kells. Eventually, Eido makes a tonic that allowed us to kill him for good. Then, the echo chooses Eramis to wield it. After she used it to cure Mithrax of his ailment, she left Sol with the echo so she can make a new home for the Eliksni without us.
The last echo ended up in the Dreadnaught and it turned out to be a memory of Oryx. Eris Morn wanted to capture the echo so she could hopefully remove Oryx from it and even use it to freely traverse the Ascendant Plane, but the echo had other plans, so it broke free. In the end, the echo was tired of it all and wanted us to destroy it, so we did.
we don't know for sure how many of them there were, but these are all the ones we knew of so far
cool thanks a lot š
these are basically the most basic summaries I can come up with
so there are plenty of other details, but this is basiclaly what had happened with each echo
there likely are other echoes, but I'd expect them to just be relegated to minor things like strikes or dungeoons rather than whole plotlines
the epilogue cutscene for TFS only showed three come out, however another cutscene showed more
but Ikora has said that the Valence is now doing nothing so we shouldn't ecpect any more Echoes to appear
to theorize:
Edge of Fate is not gonna have anything to do with them, unless the nine physically allowing us to travel through multidimensional timey wimey stuff is spurred by the power of an echo, but tbh they could probably just do that anyways
Ash and Iron won't have it since it's a return to plaguelands, and there's genuinely zero connection I could think of with the witness/black fleet there
Renegades could possibly have it, the idea of a sole dredgen having that power could be interesting, but I think it's gonna be more down-to-earth and not have that kind of supernatural element to it
Shadow and Order is the most likely to have one majorly involved, assuming it's a Cabal plot and the reamining psions really want echoes
at this point, I don't really think the Echoes are going to have an actual role in the story until the Conductor or Eramis show up again
quick question: so oryx created the takens, which he claims "Taken IS Hive", and we know that Eris wielded hive magic to a point, she briefely transformed into the most powerful Hive has ever been;
is it possible for the Guardian to wield Taken power to a point that it becomes a subclass?
That is not what the statement means no
Oryx is proclaiming the taken to be āHiveā in a ceremonial sense, in the way that they embody the sword logic through his will
what about that echo room theory of slone?
I donāt know what that means
when I was watching the story of the heresy walkthrough, slone has briefely talked about the nature of taken as she experienced, it's like taken will serve whoever strongest, like Minions
it's more than that
so what if the guardians take up the title?
and the fact of the matter is that it is simply not going to work like that
you can communally control taken
they follow one master, singular
the power to take is the power to rip things out of their natural place, break them down into their basic components, and reshape them to your will
it is the exact opposite of what guardians embody anyway
also taken can only have one master, it can't be something that's shared
i guess we won't have a necromancer subclass anytime soon.
i was thinking if we can wield taken energy as a whole subclass we can just take enemy mob to fight for us
instead of throwing grenades we summon taken sreeb/thraw/explosive-shank
well taken have to be living biological things
scorn are puppeted corpses and shanks are entirely metal and code
taken vex:
vex are biological
that is the entire point of their existence
radiolaria IS vex in their primal form
didn't vex also have explosive units?
the machines are shells they construct for themselves
supplicants are explosive harpies and fanatics are goblins/hobgoblins filled with volatile radiolaria
hydra chassis are also designed to self destruct on death
yeah those, but i think you've explained enough how we won't be able to wield taken energy as a necromancer subclass,
i was thinking if we by any chance will have a new darkness subclass at all, and both taken and nightmare comes to my mind, but i'm not sure how nightmare even works
if anything, the leviathan of calus only makes things more complicated
nightmare power was teased in the postcampaign for FS, if it does happen it'll probably just be weird energy constructs
Bungie likes to make new stuff for the subclasses, rather than existing powers
Nightmare or Finality would be a mega cool red third dark damage type/subclass
Partially because it's fresh and partially because if we got smth like resonance, they're gonna have to chance every resonance attack into resonance and that's just annoying
Like. Imagine we get a taken subclass.
Now, imagine EVERY SINGLE SOURCE OF POTENTIAL TAKEN DAMAGE
That, because they have the subclass as a damage type, they're obligated to now change
Yeah I think nightmare damage would work better
Not too much to change, itās red, itās cool, and it makes sense
This also accounts for weapon types, where we already have taken guns
.. and also nightmare guns
(and the scythe)
Well yeah but we do have coldheart as arc even though thereās stasis
There is unironically lore reason for this
Still
And the sythe would just be one thing
Especially since they can just re add a new type for new content when thereās really no way to use it but a niche crucible gamemode
Also- stasis isn't just ice. It's not just "oo brr cold"
I know
coldheart is a high power fusion laser
it's so hot that the gun would literally melt without a constant stream of the most effective coolant designed by humanity (hence the name)
The omolon self-promotion is the real damage
Thatās actually mega cool
its been a hot minute since weve had a genuine coldheart stasis in here
had to nip it in the bud
anyway the gun is shit and delicate tomb solos
lore wise are there still fallen on the moon?
yea
Is this what the collapse looked like?
Are we going to be able to see the collapse happen?
Was glasses man literally just on his way to his 9-5 when shit went down
Looks like a suit
It's never been supposed to be stasis
It's called Coldheart because it uses a cooling mechanism for the reactor that shoots out the electricity
Doesnāt it shoot a beam of ice tho?
Nvm someone got it already oops
Its cold fusion
Which is
The opposite of cold actually
hence, yknow, being arc

If you know anything about fusion
my life is a lie
Itās nuclear power
Which of course means it needs a constant source of coolant or else
Bad thing
the power of the sun, in the palm of my hand
So omolon crafted the ammo to double as the coolant
Cooling the device as you shoot it
Which is why it freezes over the moment you stop pulling the trigger
did the collapse happen at the same time?
or was it like plant to plant one at a time?
It was a series of events as the Witness' forces closed in on Earth
Oh so it didnāt all happen at exactly the same time?
It happened faster than Humanity could have ever had a chance to stop it but it still took some time
This is fake cross could never have such a chiseled jawline
Specifically nezarec because he is the pain man and wanted to specifically inflict pain
Iām quoting this
He couldāve just had the pyramids nuke everything, but instead he unleashed natural disasters, plagues, rot, threw entire planets and moons out of their natural orbit
where did he even come from?
like why is he here now
Thatās like the point of the dlc isnāt it
Why are you asking me
All we have is that trailer
oh he was invented on the spot because red war was gone and bungie needed some kind of tutorial
so you get the new light experience
Shaw Han has no substantial feats or accomplishments
He bought his ahamkara bones from a street vendor
Fraud and idiot
So is he a guardian?
Have you really never done BL or gone to the cosmodrome
heās a gunslinger hunter that uses YAS
you can just go up to him
I havenāt interacted with him at all
heās the cosmodrome vendor
I havenāt actually been to the chromosome since red war
It didnāt exist during the red war
They have never been available at the same time
idk, I havenāt gone to anywhere on earth in a while
like since beyond light came out
Not even an exotic?
Ghosts and deep have double meaning yes
Oryx is a ghost of the past and there are literally ghosts in there, deep refers to both the depth of the ocean and The Deep
apparently the lore behind the Red War goes back to Taken King
thereās like one terminal or smth like that
whereās the terminal?
Ah, I believe I know what you mean. There's a couple of things. One speaking of the Emperor and also referring to who we believe must be Ghaul, and another being the origin of the information that led to the creation of the Cage
I'll get into the details later I've got to organise some things at home haha
The traveler was reportedly on Ghaulās radar for a while, though
He said he studied it for years
Which would be pretty awkward if he specifically just meant ~2
Technically the Star Wars crossover things can be explained by someone finding Star Wars and deciding to make things based on it
The ornament set isnāt canon
Everything is canon
it's fenchurch shit
they ever explain why eververse has all that stuff
it's just magic as far as anyone is concerned
What?
a combination of magic and pay2win goodness
Tess Everis is running a monopoly
fenchurch provides the goods for eververse
sheās producing bootleg versions of weapons that she then sells as the real deal
imagine
imagine if Eververse is secretly just a black market for bootleg guns
Who's that?
tess' uncle
Ah
I smell a conspiracy afoot
I'm gonna buy Solid Luminiscence
Fenchurch Everis, a Warlock who Tess and Fenchurch happily assumed are related to one another (but might not be)
lol
sounds like the plot of a K-drama
āOld Neville here woke me in the Martian wastes. Utterly alone, with nothing but our witsā and a lone, silvered coin buried in the sand beside me. This very coin, in fact. What could it signify? A mysterious message? A sign of royal birthright? A key to some ancient puzzle? For all my many adventures, this answer yet eludes meā What's that...
eververse stuff is all basically jokes
no real point looking into it
the explanation is "it's eververse stuff"
magic
So you're saying the 362 Awoken weapon ornaments aren't authentic Awoken technology??
they might be!
imagine
but like
ultimately the whole thing boils down to "eververse has weird stuff that guardians like because of drip"
explain how Tess and Fenchurch have time to get so many Awoken weapon ornaments
Tess Everis literally runs the place 24/7
across different games too
What games??
destiny 1
Question for the people that comb through the finer details: did Eris ever get her ship back?
She lost it?
You lost it
Cayde-6 borrows it from Eris on your behalf in an attempt to sneak into the Dreadnaught during the Taken War
You do make it into the ship but it gets omegablasted to hell
yea
the cloaking technology didnāt work
how did the Guardian even make it back from that anyway
did they justā¦have another ship?
not forever
and then Cayde-6 is not allowed to do anything for the rest of the mission for insubordination
because he did all of this without Zavalaās knowledge or permission
the way Cayde realises āoh shit I f-ed upā and then turns to Zavala ācan I get permissionā like nothing ever happened is so funny
Oh we talking about the opening of taken king?
Classic cayde
yea
Caydeās like the funniest character in Destiny
heās literally your British humour guy
british?
think Rowan Atkinson
should Cayde have been a professional comedian
No, like
I meant he isn't british
I meant his humour sounded like British humour
I know he isnāt British; I can recognise an American accent any day
I have questions about the Traveler
is it alive or not
is it on our side or not
what did the game mean by āsacrificeā if itās still alive?
what exactly has the Traveler been protecting by just sitting there like a squatting duck? (other than the Guardians through the Ghosts)
also, when did they start referring to the Solar System as Sol?
Yes.
Yes.
Depends on the scenario. If you mean the Collapse, it pushed back the Darkness at the climax of the Collapse, but this effort rendered it comatose for centuries.
It created Ghosts to protect us. It pushed back the Black Fleet both during the Collapse and during the end of Arrivals. It shielded the Last City from the debris of the destruction of the Almighty.
It's a pretty common sci fi trope to differentiate our solar system from others given that they're all solar systems
Like how we say the Moon is Luna
i'll elaborate more in a jiffy
sure
Alrighty which point would you like covered in further detail
Now that I'm free
How deeply are the Nine bound to their respective Planets?
Say I blow up Venus would that hurt that specific Nine?
Well unless something has come up very recently that I've missed, there was never anything tying them to specific planets as individuals
So

They just chose them
Actually you are now £1.50
now you cost 99p
Do I come with a Flake?
you come with a Hadium Flake
You come with a coupon code for the next purchase
Hmm
Uh well no, like
You wouldn't call a member of the Nine, Mars, or Jupiter
Dust describes the Nine as loops created by the gravitational pull of Sol and its celestial bodies, but it doesn't describe them as connected to specific, individual planets
This might change, of course
But as it is, we don't know them as having particularly grand connections to specific celestial bodies
Might just be the style chosen for the new cutscenes but we see visuals of a specific planet accompanied by the text of the representative Nine
That would be the something new
I forgot to watch those
Attempt three then
Here ya go
Well, if the Nine are bound to particular locations, then that would bring me back to a point from The Witch, and an accompanying theory attached
The Venus one seems to be concentrated on the vog entrance but the Earth one is both EDZ and Cosmodrome again this could be stylistic choices cause bla bla recognizable landmarks
Also id like to hear your thoughts on the text of the Earth one specifically
In passing, Lavinia sees the entire history of the Queen's interactions with the Nine: more than anyone suspected, and more vital. She sees how one of the Nine blinded Guardians to Ghaul's approach, risking everything (for Ghaul would have destroyed the sun, and the Nine with it) to learn how to steal the Light. She sees how that one was punished.
A fairly common theory is that this passage citing punishment is often theorised to be referring to the Almighty's consumption of Mercury
If the Nine are in fact closely tied to specific planets, then we could suggest that Mercury-The-Nine was the one who blinded us, and was harmed for it by the subsequent actions of the Almighty.
While it doesn't mention sterile neutrinos, it's very possible that there's a deeper affliction of Darkness/Taken energy taking root on Earth, possibly from the tainted Shard of the Traveler. This member of the Nine appears more caring, but is suffering.
What was the emissaryās name when she was a titan
Orin.
Thanks
"Alive" probably depends on your particular definition given that it's not exactly made of flesh, but it's certainly entirely sentient and aware. A thinking, emotional being.
ooh
sounds cool
is there anything about who made the Traveler?
or how the Traveler came into being?
Not unless you take Unveiling at face value, but Unveiling is a tale largely told as a metaphor. That book aside, the Traveler existed even prior to the Precursors of the Witness, making it and the Veil the oldest existing things known to us in all of our histories.
The Traveler is also described as being made with electroweak material, a hypothetical material that would have existed during the Big Bang. It is not impossible that it has, in some form or another, always existed.
People have debated the morals of the Traveler since the launch of the game, but I would say it is objectively on our side.
The Traveler is a being with a purpose, and that purpose is to terraform and uplift. It cares for the beings that it tends to.
Some argue that it is morally ambiguous at best for abandoning the Eliksni, leading to the Whirlwind and the destruction of their civilisation, but the Dreams of Alpha Lupi describe the abandonment as done out of love - it left them in an attempt to draw the Black Fleet away. This, of course, failed.
With us, it chose a different path - it stood by our side and saved the remnants of Humanity from extinction by ending the Collapse in a final climactic action that banished the Black Fleet, created the Ghosts, and rendered the Traveler comatose for centuries. Even the Speakers could no longer understand it, until one eventually created the Mask of the Speaker that helped "tune" the "white noise" into visions.
The Traveler did not awake until the Red War, when it broke its chains and banished Dominus Ghaul - shattering its shell in the process, once more rendering it dormant until the end of the Season of Arrivals.
and now i will go cook some kinda rice dish
Pineapple fried rice?
No, three eyes, no pineapple
We don't know exactly. We've never really seen them demonstrate any kind of power before. They've always been observers to the universe always watching to see how things play out and using pawns to give us messages.
The only thing we know from some lore is that they can "boil your brain"
from what I see, they usually get other ppl to do their dirty work
like Xur and the Emissary
dark matter shi i guess
Exactly. It's more about using others to speak for them
Like the emmisary has done until now it looks like
im trying to wrap my head around the concept of the Nine tbh
like theyāre dust but theyāre impactful enough to make a whole saga about
They've always been an enigma to the destiny universe so don't stress too much but now as they're becoming a bigger part of the story I would assume we'll be learning a lot more about them
Lodi in edge of fate looks to have maybe been driven insane by visions from them.
Or maybe just driven insane by the nine to be used as another pawn.
The Nine are mostly dark matter right
am I right in assuming that dark matter doesnt fall within either Light or Darkness
Both correct
Yes. Dark matter is just a substance of our universe
It's not a paracausal force like light or dark
basically, if it could be real, it's not paracausal
if it couldn't be real, it's paracausal
True! A big part of what the Nine seek is independence from their bonds of life and gravity, and some of the Nine have attempted to do so by seeking out Paracausality. Ahamkara wishes, for example - not that it worked out for them.
They themselves, however, are not paracausal.
I reached the mission where the message is sent to the head of the Cabal Empire (Ghaul)
for those who wanna know, itās part of the Legion Beachhead quest in D1
itās a distress signal that resulted from the completion of the Shield Brothers strike
which will then lead to the events of Red War
yeppers
and that sure was a series of events
The Taken King was gooooood
The House of Wolves was a step in the right direction
The Taken King was the first Destiny story that felt properly fleshed out
not to mention it gave Cayde-6 his iconic personality and comedy
it also felt like a natural continuation of The Dark Below
and it and TDB expanded quite a lot on Eris as a character
which was also helped by the absolute beast of a voice actor that was cast for her
