Its an understandable misconception
A dictator according to some
You need disc copies
No
damn
Destiny 1 officially stopped all kind of content development after the age of triumph event. Then everything was poured into D2
oh
D1 is still very much alive though. PvP lobbies are dodgy but if you have friends you can still definitely have some fun in the game.
Or do just the main content solo
No?
I haven't seen destiny 1 on the PS store anymore. Maybe it's just my region
It doesn't pop up in recommendations perhaps but it's still purchasable
Interesting. I remember I tried to look it up and got nothing. If it is still on the store though then great.
Hello, i have come back from the dead just to ask this question.
Is savathun dead now?
No.
F
Have we met her again and you know kick her ass for the several times?
i left before heresy came online
She was on our side during Final Shape. We've only come to odds again this Episode. But, no.
So we met her again in Heresy?
Yes.
Uh, there are numerous. She's all over Act 3.
A Lucent Hive collaborator has alerted Drifter to a possible Anchor incursion in SavathĂťn's throne world.
**
Sloane: Guardian, the Drifter's recon dredged up some intel.
Drifter: I'll keep it short. Energy's getting yanked on down from the Dreadnaught into SavathĂťn's throne world â a whole damn lot of it. Maybe she knows something we do...
At 3:50
Thatâs our first interaction with her this episode
how about the other ones?
You can have a look on the Destiny Lore Vault channel yourself if you wish
Through the story and through all the random Nether/Court dialogues
who is savathun's sister again?
Xivu Arath, Hive God of War.
oh yeah thanks
Can you guys provide a sinopsis on what's happening in Heresy?
I left when the mirror dungeon is a thing, the richochet shotgun
That was only last Episode
You want a full synopsis of the whole plot of the episode?
Yes !
Eris and Drifter investigated activity in the Dreadnaught by Saturn, while we investigated Taken activity in the EDZ. We discovered entirely new Taken, as all Taken we have fought previously were Taken by Oryx. We also discover an Eversion Anchor, sent to Earth from the Dreadnaught, bypassing the distance through the Ascendant Plane. This anchor is intended to fire a pulse that would be very problematic for Earth. Investigating the anchor, we traverse through the Ascendant Plane and find ourselves on the Dreadnaught. There, a Dread commander called Kietâehr, aka The Resonant Knife, First of the Reshaped, ambushes Eris and Drifter, and kills Eris, dragging her through the Dreadnaught. Drifter gives chase, but he is also killed. We find their bodies and stop a ritual, driving the Resonant Knife away. Drifterâs Ghost is able to resurrect him, but Eris has no Ghost - sheâs proper dead.
Or is she? We, the player, get to witness a cutscene of Eris waking up in this strange green world, where she laughs a cathartic laugh of relief at her apparent survival
And that is just the first mission of Act 1 lmao
Perhaps I need to condense this down better
Eris and Drifter go on a lovely date on the Dreadnaught except the Resonant Knife is a huge hater and wont allow it so it decides to stab the shit out of Eris and so she dies and Drifter is sad
Here you go, act 1
A species the Witness "created" during the Final Shape dlc
Basically a bunch of already existing races mixed and mashed into new beings
here they all are
Theyre essentially their own faction
That Stasis Subjugator has so much sauce in that image
Now that the witness is dead they have been looking for new power
Posing like a chad
Crazy theory.
That's the same subjugator we dealt with in this episode
oooo

No
so the dreads are the subjugators and such?
Husks, Grim, Attendants, Weavers, Subjugators and Tormentors
Husks, grim, weavers/attendants and tormentors
And the knife dudes also straight out of hell
Yeah
the flying shit gave me tinnitus and when i realised i jump over a bridge, i fucked up
Fr
Burn them all
But yeah turns out Eris isnt actually that dead (but we dont know that)
what kind of dread is it? a solar/arc one?
i'm having trouble visualizing the dread
can you guys give me a yt link/image to satisfy me?
I think they do solar damage but that aint their "element" the same way the Subjugators use Strand or Stasis
The Dread Commander relevant in Episode 3 is just a Stasis Subjugator like the middle most entity in that picture
Sheâs a Stasis Subjugator
Shes got like a slightly diff head shape and some slight taken type glow on their legs
But thats about it
she's part dread part taken now?
Thats the implication yeah
Oh yeah, this subset of the Dread were involved in Taken shenanigans. Supposedly, there is a new voice in the Deep commanding the Taken. The Resonant Knife wasnât the main leader, but following this other voice
okay okay, i fought it many times in DD. i'm remembering now
You didnât
Well one of her sisters

Not her specifically
The Resonant Knife is new, weâve never fought her before this episode
I swear Eris flipping Trust like shes mf Revolver Ocelot always gets me
what is voice in the deep again? is it like riven stuff?
Some kind of rather powerful entity, not connected to Riven tho
We dont know who or what exactly that entity is
Prob gonna find out uh at some point soonâ˘ď¸
why do we call it voice in the deep? is deep a place?
No
ahhh the next witness, the next final boss i assume hehe
Maybe? Maybe not
The Deep generally refers to âThe Darknessâ
Again its hard to tell at this point
To early to tell
It has a few meanings
It depends on the context
just a quick question, do u collect/save cutscenes ingame and download it to your storage for lore documentation things?
I save some cutscenes I like
I donât do it for âofficialâ archival
The Destiny Lore Vault does all that archival type stuff
You literally star in the cutscene so it makes sense youd keep it
Why did you try to kill a Subjugator with a primary Eris
Your death could have been avoided by pulling out Queenbreaker

Itâs the secret meta. Trust

I still have the og Trust with mf dropmag so trust me ik
so ik that place from the raid. It is in dreadnaught yes? oryx's ship. Drifter dive into the deeper part?
The Dreadnaught is sorta explorable in the new activity, The Nether
okay now i understand
okay okay thanks.
i'll be seeing you guys in the next major update lmao
You missed like a good 3rd of the seasonal story but no worries
yeah i realized that
but hey, i got you guys
why do i wanna search google when i can ping and summon a whole lore enthusiast
đ¤Ł
Fr
You still got like over 2 months to catch up.
No rush
Just a theory, but since during season of the witch, we made xivu arath mortal, we could potentially have her as a raid/dungeon(most likely raid) boss
Just something cool to consider since we already have the witness gone and shes the next most powerful being if im not mistaken
Xivu breaks into the vault holding the quill of the taken tablet and uses it to make herself a new special type of taken
Boom, big raid boss
Wouldnt she be hive instead of taken since oryx/riven specialises in taking?
Even for crota and savathun, neither of them had any relations to taken, so it would make sense she wouldnt either
I guess, maybe sheâd write something new with the quill
Taken also flock to powerful wills. SavathĂťn has commanded Taken in the past, and to great effect - all the way from the Red War to... Roughly the Shadowkeep era.
Wasn't Savathun's commanding of the taken through Dul Incaru and Quria though?
Mostly Quria. It was the perfect general. But, that's not the only way to command a Taken.
They actively seek those of strong will. Even Mara hypothesised she could command them.
Which game had the Black Heart first?
Ok, thanks
It's supposed to be Darkness the Witness gave to the Vex so they could try to recreate the Veil, right?
Close enough. The Witness provided the Sol Divisive with a "seed" that was supposed to have become the Veil. Instead, it failed, and made the Black Heart.
Nevertheless, it was still dangerous and did have a connection to the Traveler.
So that confirms the Veil is a plant
I wouldn't take it quite that literally.
seems more fungus anyhow given what we know of egregore
Speaking of which, what exactly does Egregore do?
long story short: links the mind to things it connects to
And why does it grow like a fungus?
it can take the form of coral as well
Coral is basically fungus in that we have no idea what it is
Grows like a plant
Both reproduce similarly
OWL-1-ShLi: BUT a certain Hidden contact, Eris Morn, has informed me that the fungus is similar to a synapse within a nervous system. She claims it is a physical manifestation of the Darkness, like Stasis. But unlike Stasis, it appears to be an "impure" manifestationâher words, not mine.
via eidolon shell
It's been a minute since I've researched Egregore, but let's see...
Think of Egregore as... Living, fungal Darkness. It grows in places ripe with Darkness and death.
Egregore is all interconnected with itself, no matter the distance. A shared mindspace stretched across the universe. Thus, anyone who partakes in Egregore Spores - which we have done many times, particularly in Presage - will, for a short time, become one with that spared space. We are connected to the fungal Mindscape of Egregore and Darkness.
Owl Sector trying to outdo the Cryptarch, eh? I'll show them
Honestly, now that makes it weird that the Veil seemed to have been "growing" around the Traveler
What if they're not naturally supposed to be together?
One of the widest theories is that the Traveler and Veil were once one entity. The fact that even the failed copy of the Black Heart had a connection to the Traveler as well is rather notable.
But, that's a very good question. What if it was one with the Traveler, but as more of a parasite?
No way to know at this time, of course, but it'd throw Unveiling under even more busses than it already has been.
Given the nature of Darkness, the Veil being a parasite makes a lot of sense
I don't entirely agree but it's interesting to consider
Light is about giving and has to be given to you, while Darkness is about taking and has to be taken to use, which, now that I think about it, might be the way the Witness would have corrupted the Guardians with Stasis. The Witness gave Stasis/Darkness to us and the Eliksni, but it was only usable with the Pyramid technology, so technically we never "had" it. The Guardian, however, learned how to use it without the Pyramid tech by "taking" control, hence no longer being vulnerable to the Witness.
interesting
if it used to be one, when did it split?
when it was struck with the first knife by the Winnower presumably
unveiling?
yes
been a while since i read that
so then it was whole when it visited the precursors
right?
since the witness was the first knife
ehhhh
well no, it was split up at that point
since the precursors had to find it later on
while the Witness claims to be the first knife, it might not be the same first knife that was used to cut the Gardener down
We have absolutely no idea. Before the Witness's Precursors ever found it, so untold eons ago.
Ah i see
Honestly aside from the whole final shape thing, the witness seems like a bit of a brat
I do wonder what the combination of traveler and veil was like. They "roots" of the veil make me think that the traveler is like fruit from a tree
Of silver wings!?!?
Honestly this stuff is my favourite lore
Overall my favourite book is books of sorrow, but generally the unveiling type stuff is the most interesting
Books of sorrow is unironically amazing writing
Same. I like to think savathuns "the traveler isn't the only one of it's kind" might have merit if the veil is supposed to be like a root holding fruit onto a tree
As a thorn lover yes books of sorrow is amzing
I do think the veil is totally fungus related
The traveler could likely be either a fruit or, potentially, a bulb
I think the traveler and the veil together were a primordial onion of sorts
The veil spreading its roots into the ground (the mental, darkness, can also be associated with the deep) and the traveler sprouting its stem out into the sky (very traveler, making life and the whole light/sky thing)
From fungus to onions
But like seriously
When the witness cut into the traveler, it inevitably lead to their tears
Since they were unmade
And the journey through the pale heart is like traveling through layers
Which onions certainly have
Shrek references in my destiny lore chat?
One for the history books
Pin it
make it your banner
Maybe one day
the books of sorrow really show bungie's ability to write something that makes sense as an in universe document
Seth Dickinson. Contractor.
they actually feel like a chronicle the hive would write

but unveiling is a close second
unveiling just has this unique vibe that i can't really describe
Also Seth Dickinson
ig it's the ancient cosmic entity having a casual chat with us

Mfw one guy whose technically not really a bungie employee is likely responsible for most of the greater world building in D2 (bungie just give the man a full position at this point he basically coined paracausality)
hi
Hello

So what's with this "community puzzle" they mentioned
Presumably the chess pieces
It's likely a timegated thing
cheese
Wdym? You can get all the chess pieces rn.
Didn't know there was a community puzzle or anything
Unless you mean those special symbols that people have found
I'd imagine there's more to the chess pieces than just "lol you can get 13 strange coins from finding them" and there's likely gonna be stuff involving actually using them in the coming week(s)
Who?
Iâm interested to hear lore chatâs opinions
Oh god is this gonna be marathon 2 server
Darkness, but it highlights the proposed need for balance, and that Darkness is not an amoral absolute.
It's like the other argument made in Unveiling - Darkness is as a storm, a part of nature. Is it evil, or part of life?
Or you could argue otherwise, that it is... Us. It represents Guardians. Agents of the Light, killing in defence of life.
Really, it's both.
And neither!
In essence it's saying the act of Winnowing is not inherently cruel. It is a balance, death to the benefit of life.
I see
But also theyâre cringe
So what really confuses me is the end of the cambrian explosion tab. The winnower invented humanity? Indirectly, but surely it knew?
Framing it as winnowing is inherently flawed as it basically places you on a pedestal above all other forms of life
Ah. Not so directly, I'd say.
If you think of the Winnower less as an entity and more as a representative of a concept, then you read the entry as it taking claim of simple competitive evolution.
Did it actively perform this action? No. It simply claims to represent that part of existence.
"Aha! This evolution made this molecule beat that one! It's Darkness, and I am Darkness! Therefore I did this! Q.E.D."
The light can be death too
Its about who is using that
Like the witness using darkness for his own goals
Ok so why is the predator developing a case of darkness?
Is it tied into sword logic?
Its because anyone can take the darkness and use it
The light has to be given
Where as the light cant be taken
Rulk tried to talk to a ghost and take the light and the ghost basically blew up
And look how that worked out
he turned into a tower of orange milk and then exploded đ
Ghaul was unironically one of the best villains we had
He didnt have any crazy lore but he compensated it with screen time
had a plan and executed it with near flawless precision
got the vanguard to question their own god
killed an important spiritual figure for followers of the light and destabilized the factions
caused destruction to the tower that's still unfixed
actually was able to steal the light and might've gotten away with it if we hadn't interfered depending on how suspending the traveler works
pristine white armor (looks goated)
he was simply a victim of marvel writing
Caitatl stayed my blade. Remember that.
now compare that to xivu fraudrath
1 considerable feat
0 living up to it after
Man why would they do rhulk like that
oryx had a dlc
Hell
Savathun had a dlc
Pretty good one actually
But 1 raid screen time for character that good is unacceptable
gets moon operations dogged on
only destroys Torobotl after the Cabal were severely scuffed after the red war and calus' loyalists defecting
probably couldn't have even done it without Savathun mindfucking Umun'Arath into bringing the hive there
wrathborn do jack shit
continuously sends Kelgorath to do her dirty work and degrades him to the point of having to be taken and isn't even a part of her forces anymore
completely fails to take Ahsa
gets banished from her own throne world and throws a fit after failing to take down Savathun
completely fails to get the echo of navigation like did she even fucking try, it didn't even like her from the moment it started talking
most notable feat other than destroying Torobotl is making Rasputin deactivate the warsat network and himself
My Warlock Fireteam member nova bombed him on my first run thorough and instakilled him before I even got a shot off
I missed every mechanic he had
Man, haunted really made ghaul go from slightly cooler Voldemort (the bar wasnt that high) with insane drip to a villain i wished we actually got fleshed out with their whole story
woe, wizard nuke be upon ye
I still really wish we had gotten a light giant calus setpiece boss like the ahamkara illusion
ok hear me out
DUNGEON IN THE PALE HEART
campaign ghaul upon being finished turns into light calus, he just leaves
raid boss
oryx esque death
actually would be cool to see an inversion of the echoes and have an echo of ghaul as a memory of the traveler rather than the witness and black fleet
She does have memory
Now yea
Micah-10 elaborates on the memories of the traveler itself
No, always.
We now can actually peace together its motives
I mean there is no grander motive in its actions
Rather just a subconscious desire to share and uplift life with no further elaborations
meanwhile veil
I'd argue that the Dreams of Alpha Lupi from ye olden D1 said the same thing but yeah
The memories from TFS were nice
I know what the symbols in the Edge of Fate mean:
They are chess moves of some sort.
No Delta Lambda means D30 which is Queen's Gambit
these right?
No
Also one of the symbols is the same as Oryx's (the Navigator) symbol from the current episode. The starburst with a dot.
D4, D5, C4 No Delta Lambda (30) This is how I read the symbols
This is all I could get from the other side
The Echo of the Navigator also has a half circle above the middle dot

Maybe next week those chess pieces we collected might be able to be used in some way. Or maybe we might see some kind of board if they're really going with the whole chess community puzzle
I have noticed we never saw a king chess piece
Curious as to where it is or who it might relate to.
Us maybe? Or maybe the nine?
@slim girder you are the King

ugh do we have to do that
it seems like a slog
I'm all for it. I love stuff like this and even though I stink at chess I'll still collect all these chess pieces
who do you think is stronger? Savathun or xivu arath?
savathun does not have a snake bc she is a female
she is called th witch queen
tehcnically oryx is trans
he was firts auryx but when he killed akka and got the power to take he named himself ory the taken king
idk really
?
is that an actual lore thing or not?
the only "gaping hole" i know of is the leviathan
is that what you are talking about?
What do you mean by drop?
What hole?
Big red eye?
idk what you are saying sorry ?
oh
not the best at spelling?
did not mean to do a question mark.
is that a streamer
What

interesting individual
In an outright battle, it'd likely be Xivu Arath, as she gains power from war itself - but SavathĂťn is an extremely crafty person. The Witch Queen would not be so simple about a confrontation.
Savathun makes a big hole with a sign labeled "WAR IN HERE!" then pushes xivu down and puts a cover on top
oh what when did that happen
when eris died
Start of this Episode, actually.
I think it was the.. seasonal ghost lore tab?
that describes immaru actually having left, but savathun also speaks on it during the story
Something like that. I'll find a source shortly, but first, I need to go shopping.
get me something
Whatchu want
i like to get packets of pepperoni or salami and eat them just as is
one of my favorite snacks
especially if i have pickles or cheese on hand
i can make me a lil charcuterie board
i've used the Honeycomb Shell for ages now
something quite nice about a default variant shell rather than all these rigid gimmicks
my little buddy
Thatâs actually really cool
Iâve been using the round omolon shell mostly
Pokeball fashion lmao
I've had the sagira shell on since i got it. Still keeps the core ghost function like when i need reviving unlike the others that just seem to not have moving parts anymore because of their design
I like when my ghost moves instead of being static
Exactly why I use this yeah
Bring back moving ghost parts
Instead of just a floating core or a big hovering block
Scribetrace Shell my beloved
When I shade it with superblack it turns it into the taken vex blocky stuff which is fun
Oh cool
You got an image?
Not now since it is 2am and I am in bed
But it's not like the goopy taken stuff on it it's like the "dead" looking grey/black texture
Oh all good lol
I want this shell đ
Honestly so cool
is it called the shell shell
can you still get it?
The Sea Shell, which is even better.
It's part of Solstice, one of the yearly Events. Perhaps when it returns.
do they sell sea shells on the sea shore
Well, she tries to, but she isn't very savvy with her business acumen.
when is the solstice event again i forgot?
August, I believe.
savvy?
like
Savathun
and acumen, like Ecumene

it's like she's here
i can still hear her voice đ
I wonder when she'll come back to the story considering her ghost got away at the end of the new campaign, The Witch Queen
also mael could you clear something up for me
i was under the impression that ahamkara don't like, "expire"
is riven considered really dead dead after wish
we still have her body and all
yeah is rivens spirit still alive?
Riven's case was a bit unique with the way the Techeuns and Mara summoned her. If the bones were a battery, we drained them fully.
Normally, however, you'd be correct.
do you know the lore well?
I'd like to say I know my way around it fairly well
reservoir burst
A Wellspring, you could say
i actually have a lore question?
i am the one who scatters thy signal
youre allowed to ask
you dont need permission
That is rather why we're here
Go for it
i did it just now
If I stop responding randomly it is because I am also in the Lake of Rot in Elden Ring
just get better smh
So yk how the darkblade got turned into lucent hive in the witch queen. But in sunless cell we fight the darkblade and kill the darkblade taken version but was it the same darkbkade or a different one?
its not him
THE darkblade is Alak Hul who later became the lightblade
ow okay
what is bro doing there
dark blade is just a job knights can get
Alak hul is pretty cool imo
his head is ugly
Not many have the gall to rebel against their own god.
idk but that he challenged oryx means he must have some power
who is also their adopted father
i mean he failed spectacularly, so
there is that
Yea your right.
only reason he went to prison and wasn't just killed outright was specifically because it was to punish him
ended up getting locked in some kind of sunless cell
we'll need those brothers to help us. those brothers with the shields
shield brothers, if you will
But like the reason he attacked oryx was because he did not get any orders so he ordered himself to kill oryx?
oryx never gave him any direct specific purpose so he tried to make his own
didnt work
It is the nature of the Hive. If Alak-Hul thought Oryx weak, it was his duty to defy him. Oryx proved him wrong.
a cautionary tale to value your employees, and that even if they step out of line, you can always imprison them in the basement
also theres no confirmation anywhere that savathun told the rezzed version about his past so like
the irony of him guarding the temple to the navigator is purely because she thought itd be funny
Yea but also are the red hive on the moon the brood of nokris or crota?
originally crota and then his daughters
hidden swarm
they're all dead so they basically got abosrbed into xivu's ranks
how Savathun felt when she came up with this idea
nokris' hive were all covered in ice after they somehow got trapped in the mars ice caps
i know rasputin did it, somehow, but like
how do you fuck up that badly
yeah by rasputin right?
didn't one of Crota's children escape when Osiris went apeshit on them before losing Sagira
if you read the tab a very specific way
the fact it has never been referenced once ever leads me to believe it's not meant to be
No.
they just forgot to come back trust đ
is xivu stronger than savathun?
the fact that that was a lore tab is still one of the worst things in the story
I believe I answered this earlier today
did you ask yesterday
About thirteen hours ago
groundhog daying rn
yeah im going to back and searc
my guy is on an odyssey
Im just finishing up the episode 2 story (coming back from a long break), but can the echo turn scorn back to eliksni? or just turn them into a regular corpse?
It can turn scorn back into eliksni if they were originally still alive.
But if a scorn was made from a dead eliksni there's no reversing that it seems
Which means it's pretty much just relegated to the Na-Veskirisk and not the Scorn Classicâ˘ď¸
Xur just said "The helio sheath is not the only door into this system" Is that new? i don't think i've ever heard him say that
What exactly are Exo's btw? Like, from what I've heard they used to be humans or something but what made them change into exo?
Variety of different factors
Clovis was motivated due to a desire for immortality, as his body was failing him. Elsie had inherited a disease from her father due to Clovis altering his genes before he was born
Cayde, iirc, had massive debts
General gist of it really was "If we're robots we can be immortal" though underneath it all was a bunch of manipulation and twisted experiments all lead by Clovis who has a god complex.
Can someone give a short explanation how vex perception differs from human?
That thing about information recognition that clovis bray said
They function more like bacterial infection than any sentient being
They simply do not comprehend the universe the way that normal life does
Vex look at us and unlike most enemies that harbour some emotion of dislike or hate towards us, the vex see it more like pruning a weed.
They don't have the capacity for emotional thought, they don't have doubts or anything, only the pattern and cutting away anything that doesn't fit into it.
they also view time differently than we do
imagine reading a Choose your own adventure book the way it is intended
that's how we see time
on the other hand, the Vex see it like you're reading one as if it is a normal book
So vex are 4 dimensional beings
not really
u dont have to be 4d to preceive time non-linearly
humans do so because it better suits our perception
the only higher dimensional beings we know of are the nine
I'd argue yes really
Because often in media the 4th dimension is often portrayed as just time
If you can visualise time like we do physical space then you're a higher being
Would being able to see and manipulate strand also be 4th dimensional? Since strand itself is almost like a realm overlapping our own connecting everyone.
Things like weavewalk imply that you can slip into this dimension and reemerge.
idk if strand is a dimension
like its a dimension as in the ascendant realm, not a dimension as in 2d, 3d, etc.
considering what eris said
there is some kind of collective meta consciousness
i think that strand is a fabric of it
would it be poissble for savathun to get darkness?
In Witch Queen, her plan used us to restore her memories seemingly because she couldnât
i thought it was just cause she was busy mobilizing troops and whatnot
didnt have the time to go collect her own memories
This vile artifact holds memory, and it is memory that I lack.
Perhaps the-thing-I-was could retrieve these memories, but the-thing-I-am cannot.
I must find a creature capable of holding two wrestling paracausal forces in its breast.
I must outsource my remembering to someone else.```
That's a speculated goal of hers. In final shapes she told us she was looking to find knowledge of edges and shapes. Which imo translates to her delving into darkness
She most definitely wants the power over light and dark that we have.
She got the light so very possible darkness could be obtained somehow
think she be more dangerous thn wittness?
I don't think so. Dangerous yes but not universe ending level threat
im so hyped to see more n more of debra
why wont we just jump savathun
kill her and burn her throne to the ground
1 less headache
Her Throne World is under her full control, getting to her through it isn't as easy as you would think, especially since she was already beaten before, so she isn't going to let it happen again.
Keep in mind that unlike our previous encounters with her, she actually wants us dead now
she would make a great side-arm
Probably, but it is going to be very difficult to do that
So itâs possible to see sav pop a needle storm ?
would be funny
but probably not yet
the lucent hive getting access to the darkness would probably be a big enough deal to warrant an entire season
a season where we can summon Lucent Brood to help us would be cool
like summoning Luzaku as the Wizard, maybe Ken as the Knight, and probably someone as the Acolyte
then maybe Alak-Hul as a special summon
Would luzaku be on our side still or follow savathun
Technically, Luzaku is on Savathun's payroll, but she ultimately seeks cooperation between her people and ours
if she sees Savathun is going to get in the way of that, then she'll probably be willing to stand alongside us, though I doubt she will be happy having to fight her brethren
probably for the Hive in general as well, though the other Hive are still tethered to the worms
it seems general Lucent Brood Hive are able to keep their worms fed thanks to the Light
Hive Guardians are straight up severed from their symbiosis with their worms
Gonna be so interesting to see sav want to kill us again
she's kinda always been on the "friends" side of things with us
except for maybe Witch Queen campaign finale
that was probably the only other time we could her her sound actually angry at us
Now after heresy ending sheâs definitely done with us
up until now, she mostly saw her relationship with us as one more akin to a relationship typical Hive share
in a way where we're technically allies, but are willing to throw each other under the bus when needed
Interested in how dangerous she will go to kill us
her and Xivu actually teaming up would be one of the most devastating
You know, I wonder if the Echo had actually started to become almost just like the Oryx we knew from TTK near the end
"lest the stars will remember the shape i gave them"
the way I see it, Oryx probably went to Sol not simply for vengeance, but because he knew his time was running short and wanted to go out with a bang
what a fcking line
the thing is Crota was one of Oryx's primary contributors to his line of tribute, so losing his son hurt him immensly
and us dismantling his court only made it worse
i always assumed oryx had no mate and he just kind of . yknow. produced it himself
or the worms give crota
A mother Wizard gets fertility from a mate, or from herself.
so it seems Hive can do both
One of those spawn was you.```
though Oryx did seem to have a mate for his children
probably because he is a male and not a mother wizard
Weird worm noises
that being said, it is very possible, and very likely that Xivu Arath and Savathun didn't take up any fathers for their children
well, Savathun did take the mother morph if I'm correct, so she definitely wouldn't need to
Xivu though, I'm less certain on
Maybe
Ok, so, it's said that Light and Darkness are neither evil nor good. However, the beings behind them are.
the beings that use them
the beings behind the light and the dark are the traveler and the veil, respectively
the Traveler being the Gardener, which was likely once a union of the two forces
the Veil being the missing part that was severed from the Gardener
which creates the natural rivalry between them but yeah it doesnt mean theyre evil/good
there isn't really a rivalry between the Traveler and Veil
not really for Light and Dark for that matter
Light vs Dark is largely something the Witness made up
more like the lore behind the gardener and winnower, i guess
the rivalry is more with the winnower rather than the excised darkness itself
so yeah u right
Winnower might not even be Light nor Dark
maybe the Gardener is meant to be both Light and Dark as well
perhaps the Winnower is neither, or it is in part both like the Gardener
thats what i mean yeah
the winnower was the one that cut the darkness from the gardener, no?
hence the name
I meant the Gardener and the Winnower
neither the gardener nor winnower are explicitly good or evil
and the winnower also is not the being behind the darkness
ehhhh
the Traveler is pretty much completely benevolent (granted it is sometimes to a fault)
and the Winnower embodies a very cynical viewpoint which aligns a lot with the Sword Logic
the Light is just the physical domain while Dark is the conscious one
Then what is it?
the one that cut the darkness from the gardener, as dova said
I said the Gardener, not the Light
well yeah the gardener is definitely good
whats the lore on crimson hand cannon
its red death but tiny
like a little brother
I bet monte carlo is a cousin
It's a play on the original D1 Red Death, both fitted with bloodied fronts and a knife attachment. The og gun is labeled as a "guardian killer" and crimson takes on that same appearance. As such, if the gun is to be found, it is to be destroyed, and for crimson, the gun simply doesn't exist- because they aren't meant to find out.
I see, thanks!
A lot of exotics, especially Y1 exotics, don't really have any discernable origin or lore behind them. Rat king, sweet business, huckleberry, they're just guns from somewhere. Rat king was based on a legend, sweet business is from.. somewhere, and huckleberry is most notable for being a tex mechanica gun when those are pretty much nonexistent
And a lot of guns' lore boils down to "this gun was made/used by specific names character" like vigilance wing being made in reverence to Osiris, Drifter made arbalest, or a guardian named Jeza made Cerberus+1
So honestly, if it's not from a quest, chances are pretty much any more related to the gun is just in its tab, and if there's nothing discernable there then there's nothing really to it. Just a fun lil thingie.
i know this is the lore channel but i headcanon oryx didnt need a mate because that makes more sense to me
he specifically stated he had one
he had multiple spawn with them, one of them being Crota
but we know next to nothing about this mate
its a headcanon tho i know its not actually true
Headcanons usually exist to fill unexplained gaps in lore or story. If it's objectively untrue, it's fanfic or AU.
that term only applies if it is not outright stated to not be true
thats just not true
people use it to override established things all the time
"override"
you know what i mean
That doesn't mean it's correctly used. Like how people say blueberries are new players instead of randoms.
And I'd say wanting a single species to destroy all others and conquer the universe and for the universe to eventually be destroyed is a pretty evil thing to do, so the Winnower is definitely evil.
Can anyone explain what the flower game is?
The Flower Game described in Unveiling is a reference to John Conway's Game of Life, a sort of cell simulation.
Do you want to know about Conway's Game of Life or Unveiling?
i already read unveiling but what im trying to know is what the flower game represents
Life. Existence. Civilisations, species. A universe as it could have been, were it to exist (for The Garden was pre-existence).
Wheres the difference

hush
oh that makes sense
The Flower Game represented life-that-could-be. Every time, the cycle of potential played out differently, but always ended the same way. A single pattern would always emerge to be victorious, as it was mathematically superior. Nothing was truly ever different.
I mean tbf thats where it differs from Conways GoL cause if you ever actually played that you can unless you work with some specific few cells its impossible to tell where and how long its all going no?
In theory, the Game of Life ends up in a static without outside intervention. You could say paracausality is that intervention.
Does it really
End in static I mean
I only have rather surface level knowledge of the GoL aka messing around with it a few years back placing random blocks or seeing what one shape would turn into
I'm not entirely sure of the details to be fair
Okay after eating my way through the Wikipedia pages ig it really is perfect to describe the garden game
No matter how chaotic and undedicable sooner or later everything ends up either in a set pattern or "still" form aka it stops changing
Wait thats the wrong screenshot
Meant this one
Some patterns go on forever though such as gliders
Yes I was mainly looking for stuff that stays randon forever
Itâs an interesting parallel to the d2 lore
that is true but it's static in its perpetuity
Yeah, Some things reach a standstill where they repeat the same movements over and over
Neither of these have any chaos
Heard this 'Unknown Voice' during the 'Hypernet Current' strike, who introduces themselves as Nezarec at the end.
Who is Nezarec?
Abridged: god of pain and nightmares, one of the witnessâs disciples. Heâs the one who creates the nightmares in Shadowkeep (although indirectly). We donât know a huge amount about him though.
Also the boss of the Lightfall raid
I mean its basically "Traveler blasted the Witness' pyramid in the LF opening and it started resurrecting Nezzarec so we shuffle over there to beat his ass"
https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/nezarecs-sin
For a long time, this old D2 vanilla Warlock Exotic was all we knew of Nezarec - a name from an old text from before the Golden Age, describing the Final God of Pain.
We never heard this mysterious name again until Season of the Haunted prior to Lightfall, when Eris Morn began studying the Luna Pyramid. We discovered this mysterious being was the master of this Pyramid.
"He is that which is an end. And he shall rise again." âpassage from Of Hated Nezarec, a pre-Golden Age text.
â
"He is that which is end. That which covets sin. The final god of painâthe purest light, the darkest hour. And He shall rise again. When the guiding shine fades and all seems lost He will call to you. Fear not. All He offers is n...
Wait, no. Forgot Season of Plunder.
Silly me.
Season of Plunder was the very next Season after Haunted, and was a big source of Nezarec's lore. We discovered that the Eliksni had discovered the Luna Pyramid when they first arrived in Sol, and had found Nezarec's corpse within it. His body was carved into pieces, and these relics of Nezarec, in the years that followed, spread across the system as items of corruption and power.
Mithrax's/Misraaks's mother was one of the wearers of a relic, and Mithrax/Misraaks himself inherited it too, for a time. Eventually, he cast it aside - Nezarec's rage and Darkness would seep into whomever wielded the relics, they were dangerous things. But, we set out to collect them.
At the end of this Episode, Mithrax/Misraaks preformed a rite to siphon the primordial Darkness from the relics, and transform it into... actually, I'll let this cutscene speak for itself.
As the threat of Xivu Arath looms, Mithrax has taken time to study the secrets of Nezarec's relics.

This particular event is directly relevant to Episode Revenant, as well.
Now you have heard Nezarec once more. His story continues in Root of Nightmares, the Raid of Lightfall.
Hereâs my design concept made during Plunder
Wasn't there Nezarecs Whisper glaive during season of haunted
Yes
Did that provide any lore before plunder
I only remembered people equipping it in Lightfall to make sense of Nez's whispers in Neomuna prior to first Root of Nightmares clear
It offered the first hint that Nezarec was a Disciple
In its flavour text
Ah okay
@low gyro it also gave us a hint into the space the finale for haunted took place. The "chantry of the darkest hour" is where eris found the glaive.
Darkest hour being another title given to nezarec
I was watching Datto's first day of destiny video and during one of the first cutscenes we see foreshadowing for the Pyramid Ships and the Witness's design by literally seeing it. After them it goes to a new place that has this image, could this be what is next for us?
that's the EDZ Traveler shard
Ah damn, ig i dont remember it being that big
The Witness' design in D2 vanilla?
What
I doubt that
Do you think that the statues were always meant to be the dissenters from the start?
No
I know Bungie works with years in advance sometimes but not that much
So why are the statues everywhere
because Bungie thought they looked cool and mysterious
âWeâll cross that bridge when we get to itâ ahh
I think the aesthetic for the pyramids and statues were already decided but they'd give us the actual name for them when it came time to do so.
The pyramids have been a thing since D1 pre development. I think bungie even back then was set on that being the big bad darkness behind everything
The pyramids were super dark and ominous for ages
Then it turns out theyâre just kinda ships
And like why were there so many, what was in them
Well it was the collapse for all of Sol. That would explain the numbers since they surrounded the system on all fronts to prevent anyone escaping. As for what was in them probably just those dissenter statues and maybe some artefacts.
The full force of the pyramids was an absolute slaughter now that we know more about what the witness did to everyone like poisonous clouds, pulling on titan to cause a cataclysmic level tidal wave, unknown monsters crashing through everything.
tbh early pyramid appearances make them seem like they themselves are an opposite to the traveler
maybe that was the plan before they came up with light and dark being neutral
Yeha like the arrivals logo
Traveler is white and round
Pyramids are black and angular
Thereâs only one traveler and heaps of pyramids
Theyre very opposite
No. It's just as of episode revenant a tomb now.
Its largely abandoned but theres probably still prisoners in it somewhere
I doubt they got to walk free
Also did they ever explain how the Warden Servitor is still alive? We kinda like beat the shit out of it back in Forsaken yk
Probably just locked cells with awoken prisoners who never ended up getting out.
It was a different servitor I think was the theory
And it also picked up Variks' voice and shit
Damn
Man must be really popular among the Servitors
For good reason obviously
Still bummed we never saw the vex section of the prison. Feel like if we were going back there we should have gotten to be in all the old wings of the prison
Like old broken down vex or something. Drifter did say that vex inside the prison had formed something like gangs.
Pretty sure that was just Drifter being a bit silly
It just means the Vex allied themselves to one mind that they didnt follow originally
Same way an imprisoned Cabal might join an imprisoned Red Legion general despite not being in their unit originally
Which considering the Vex love their unity makes total sense
Right.
Alltho Shawshank Redemption with Vex would be hilarious to watch
I wanna see more funny stuff from the vex.
I'm talking GLaDOS with the baby birds type stuff
Vex blasting golden age rock while running into battle
I'd happily throw them some rob zombie or Metallica tracks
Prolly
If we really want to get technical remember in that live action trailer where the hunter said to put on something classic and the ghost chose led zeppelin?
Taken king one was also pretty cool. That trailer made one of my friends never take off the chaperone
Didnt they make a cameo in some cutscene from Lightfall or sum
Or was that Shayuras fireteam
Dont remember
Yeah the original fireteam who got sliced.
They were the ones that also saw the traveler rise during the seraph finale
I'm pretty sure it was. I remember a whole tribute video to that fireteam when we saw them try to intercept the witness.
Im confused who youre talking about now
I thought I remembered the team that got sliced by the Witness to be Shayuras homies
Bringing their whole story to an end
And I thought someone also told me it was them who watched the Traveler rise at the end of Seraph
Or was LF the Shayura gang and Seraph the OG Fireteam
Wheres Dova when you need him
Maybe that's what the Witness intended. Making us think we're facing Darkness itself.
In an early cinematic of red war we see this while itâs showing the reflection of the traveler in the water so its opposite. Hard to take a screenshot for the first one but itâs the same like moving bodyâs and faces design
Sorry to be that guy but Bungie had not yet planned out the Witness in D2 vanilla
Its unlikely they had even written the Witness by Shadowkeep
They had no witnesses to the crime, until....
This is a coincidence at best
Alltho the left screenshot is definitely more related to the suffering in the Last City during the attack of the Red Legion than anything Witness related
So you're saying there's a bunch of Vex left unattended in a place full of technology? What could go wrong.
Force fields, bombs, other Fallen things
Awoken tech (made in a cave (with a box of scraps))
That's more symbolic of the citizens of sol as the pyramids descended on them.
Nothing they couldnt easily make themselves
Important to note that vex technology is prolonging the lifespan of stars to use as a forge
What I mean is they're locked up in a place that has all the materials they could need.
The power of the fucking sun as your blacksmith
And even some things already built.
They could probably shoot their way out
No, really
If they got their weapons
Keep in mind the Vex are the guys who have the means to manually refuel entire stars, keeping them on the verge of going supernova to use that as a printer for matter
There's nothing the Eliksni could make that would remotely interest them
Their equipment is effectively super scifi construction equipment
They could definitely break out using just their own tools.
Security is probably what prevented them, guns n stuff
They could probably make some
But as long as there's no paracausality involved in stopping them, they'll find a way to escape.
Rock's
Are all Knights male and all wizards female or did Oryx just transition for the hell of it?
Aurash specifically took on the king morph
Gender is not relevant to hive operations besides specifically being jobs that need it to happen (such as brood mothers)
Oh wait, it was Xi Ro that wanted to be a knight, right? And Sathona a brood mother?
No
They were simply provided with their new morphs
Xi Ro didnât changed upon taking the Knight morph, neither did Sathona change from taking the Mother morph
Thereâs a distinction between that and standard brood mothers
But they did end up having children
Savathun notoriously has the least amount of children and love for said children out of any of her family, funnily enough
Brood mothers have actual broods
All hive on the tangled shore were the result of that one strike boss
Hidden swarm came from Crota and Omnigul
Savathun had three kids total
Savathun did not become a brood mother, she took the Mother morph
What do you mean morph?
The morphs that the three osmium siblings were given were unique
They were the new forms and power bestowed on them by the worm gods when they first became hive
Hive donât grow with age, they change physically by taking on new morphs achieved through their connection to their worms and sword logic
I donât remember specific morphs in the books of sorrow
Then again itâs been a while
Is it basically just metamorphosis?
It's looking like a Corridors of Time 2.0
Mhm. I did the solutions and now I'm trying to figure out these frequencies.
1867
766
That's what I've seen so far so I believe that the community is making progress and changing things
Something I find interesting though is no number is higher than 8 so far. Which is the highest number on a chess board
Ok so everyone has a different number
Whatâs the lore behind âgo to settings to turn on text chat, you can enter text with a hardware or virtual keyboardâ
nothing, lol
just didn't bother to edit it out
has anyone read Tales of a Wanderer yet?
yeah, pretty neat
all the places drifter went are where the chess pieces were
some connection to the nine
seems to be Drifter's perspective after Eris died
final entry takes place after Sloane punched him
I forgot that happened
every entry is a different place where we have found a chess piece. Campsite on Europa, Clovis' head, Zavala's Office, etc
everywhere outside of the Nether and CoB that we have found chess pieces lying around
Lingering: Eris' Flat
Expanse: Beyond on Europa
SchadenFruede: Clovis Bray
Unfamiliar: Drifter's area in the Tower
Restlessness: Zavala's Office
Preparation: Tower Hangar nook
Reconsidering: Taken Blight in the Sludge
Commiting: Winding Cove
im wondering if theres any extra meaning to this
I don't recall there being a chess piece in the Tower Hangar
Corridors of time?
Man I started in deep
That sounds like a season of the undying thing
Season of Dawn
Oh ok
it was a community puzzle where players all over the community would send in screenshots of some sequence they get from doing something
then people would compile those sequences into what I think was a map
so then we went through the map to find our own grave as well as unlocking the Bastion exotic quest
Oh cool
the chess community puzzle is something like that
So do I have to find all 60 chess pieces or something lol
we complete a series of chess puzzles, then we are given a board with pieces on it that is unique to each player
you will need all the pieces to complete the 27 puzzles
Thatâs a lotta chess pieces
its in the vents
oh right, the Daito room
i honestly don't think chess mechanics have anything to do with the endgame puzzle...
Endgame?
There's a community puzzle event ongoing rn, Bungie literally said so lol
So the code was cracked giving us a QR code that leads to a website with a keypad. This has become a whole ARG now lol
WAIT
I'M PARAGON!!!!

Yeah I checked if you were eligible since I see you in lore discussion a lot and youâre knowledgeable
Honestly if youâre eligible thereâs no reason you canât have it lol
I get it now.
Again much appreciated. đ
What is going on
I already did the chess and submitted what the water showed me
But now we have...
Aion?
Who
The aion archives
Where the chess qr code sent us
I would send a link. But don't know if that's allowed
where is this located? in rhulk raid?
Go to eris throne world and in the secret area below is a chessboard
thanks man
btw i still haven't played D2 since Heresy
Itâs still heresy
Everyone who quit before heresy really left before the best season we've had in a while
tbh you can't really blame them
i've always been positive about d2 through the drama but even i took a break for a month or so in revenant
I'm on a bit of a break myself. I'll knock all of the bits and bobs out within the next few weeks.
I did play enough during Revenant but it was still my least played season since Deep
I maxxed out my season pass and did everything for the episode. So now just doing other things while i wait for edge of fate.
I already took my break period through season of witch and wish (due to the major layoffs knocking my want to play). So I've just been enjoying the episodes as they've gone by. Definitely think they've had their issues, but they're fun
This arg has been getting me excited
Mb wront channel
Wront
Rite of the Nine is next week
Yeah but i'm not to interested tbh. It's just a dungeon revamp formwhat i can tell and i don't have anyone anymore to do all that with
These weapons will be meta going into Edge of Fate just like BRAVE weapons were for TFS
And it's more contest content, even tho it's "revamped"
Lemme know if you want someone to run through stuff with you
So Xivu Arath gains tithes from war, and Savathun through trickery, how did Oryx gain tithes?
By killing his sisters
What exactly are the weapons of sorrow? Is it hive magic?
As in how did Rezzl Azir make Thorn
They're vague and yet weirdly specific. Human weaponry corrupted by Hive magic.
Rezyl Azzir grafted a Hive bone onto Thorn after his escapade to the Moon. This cursed bone began the transformation of Thorn.
To add to this the bones then corrupted both the weapon and then Rezyl. He then became Dredgen yor the infamous guardian murderer.
It was either Dredgen, yor it was something else

Marathon's (the original) release date triggers something in the ARG.
Just thought I'd let everyone know.
Halo CE's release date also triggers an easter egg in the Aion site.
And before anyone asks, entering Halo 2, 3, ODST, and Reach's release dates into the AION keypad doesn't work.
Ditto for Marathon Durandal and Marathon Infinity.
From what I've learned from all of this, it appears that release dates of certain Bungie games trigger special messages in the Aion terminal.
Time codes:
081993 - Pathways Into Darkness
12211994 - Marathon
11152001 - Halo
I have a couple questions
- Is the Eliksni either a gas or a liquid
- How can ghosts heal exos if their ârobotsâ
Ether? Both, sort of. As far as we can tell, it's a gas that can also take liquid form.
As for Exo, it depends. Particularly complex breaks are more trouble than they're worth, and Ghosts actually prefer a full resurrection over healing it. Either way though, the Light simply repairs the damage, potentially based on the old FWC timeline theory - but that just a theory, of course.

In terms of lore which of the two darkness subclasses is more similar to void? I assume Stasis, right?
similar how?
Like what the powers do? I know Strand is all about creating things and "connecting" everything, where void seems to be about emptiness and dark matter stuff
Void is tied to the forces of Gravity
Strand is derived from the conscious link between all beings
Stasis is tied to Emotion
Stasis isn't even ice is it?
I'm trying to get a prismatic build going mixing Void and one of the darkness subclasses and thought it'd be cool to pick one that would have some synergy lore-wise. If that makes any sense lol
I mean, if you're going for an emptiness aesthetic, then Void and Stasis work
