been too long since ive read black armory lore
But could check out ig
@trim grotto will surely give an answer
hm what
Presumably because she was uploaded as a child. She grew up in the Exobody, and thus didn't have as much to disassociate from.
i'm not a fan of this theory though
Ada-1's Exobody is not entirely unique in its construction. Radiance is related to the Obsidian Accelerator moreso than the actual Exobody. The Exo was still constructed primarily by Clovis Bray.
Alkahest was presumably still involved, therefore.
i'm not actually super familiar with black armory lore, wasn't into it that much at that point
can you give me a quick rundown or a resource on the relation the black armory had to braytech in the golden age?
wait the forges weren't golden age
they were post-collapse
They mobile Forges? They were Golden Age.
The reason two were on Nessus, for example, was because they were aboard the Exodus Black.
Well, the forges were provided to the program, apparently.
Funnily enough, I did a writeup on Ada-1's Exobody just a couple of months ago, using as many resources as I could find.
tyty
How generous of them
Were the forges ever designed to produce something that isnt...yk guns
Uuh, not that I'm aware of. The Black Armory was always focused on weapons.
i mean yeah the exodus ships had a lot of shit on them
they were MASSIVE
henriette doesn't even call ada by her name
she just calls her "the exo"

evidently not
Those damn bots smh
i've had my fill of grief and dread for the night
"Oh yes. Nobody does 'unnervingly bewildered' like our boy Xur." The Titan points down into the shadows of the Tower hangar, where a cloaked figure hunches over nothing, as if run through by an invisible spear. "He comes here to trade. We didn't let him in, but we don't stop him, either."
Lavinia, as afraid of success as she is of failure, shivers through a thrill of nerves. "Xûr," she corrects the Titan, then, feeling like a pedant: "Sorry. Cryptarch habit."
"Right. Xur. That's what I said." The Titan shrugs.```
Look it's @severe meadow

I need Lavinia to become relevant for a season or expac. iirc she's somewhere with the Nine now
She was intercepted by Savathûn. It's... not clear what has happened to her since.
She got to be a nice roommate to Osiris, trust
any exotics used to make lamps?
or light
or to do with light or illumination
also i don’t understand the star eater scales lore
As I read it, it is the Witness appearing to this Eliksni as a crewmate who was never truly there. It suggests that the prophesy of the Kell of Kells was intentionally made to be divisive, and perhaps it was the Witness itself who snuck it into Long Drift culture.
May I ask, why have you been so interested in such extremely specific concepts for weapons or exotics?
There's Hardlight
In the original iteration it never had drop-off, full damage at any distance
Most things to do with light are usually more about capital L Light, though
Although... Sunshot was made with the eternal flame in mind
Which was sort of a lamp
i have a chemistry project. when an element has properties or uses that aren’t really apparent in destiny i go to lore to try and relate it. right now im struggling on the lathanides besides promethium .
im relating elements to exotic weapons or armors or abilties
that will work
the project is meant for us to do out of class for a little over a month. We do lab but it’s early in the year so nothing too crazy. right now we’re doing labs and lessons with virtual reality headsets
Isn't it day 9 now
Veist, the weapons foundry, build their weapons with on-board AI with a venomous creature's "killer instincts"
So if we do not kill someone, we get punished? Maybe zap with a venom?
Am I tweaking about this lore on claws of ahamkara
Cause I swear this shit is pretty much saying they know about us the player
No
Just a gimmick of the company
They do weapons like Funnelweb, Taipan, Recluse
The guns names after venomous animals
The Helm of Dire Ahamkara does that too
Don't worry too much about it
Speaking of veist weapons. Guess I have to thank the game for introducing me to this Australian delight
The Irukandji jellyfish ( irr-ə-KAN-jee) are any of several similar, extremely venomous species of rare box jellyfish. With a very small adult size of about a cubic centimetre (1 cm3 or 0.061 in3), they are both the smallest and one of the most venomous jellyfish in the world. They inhabit the northern marine waters of Australia, and cost the Au...
Knew someone who got stung by these things
They're near invisible underwater
I love it when aussie stuff gets into destiny
Tarrabah is about a guardian who guards old indigenous rock paintings
So australia is canon in destiny
weren't the Fighting Dharug a group of Warlocks dedicated to protecting remaining Australian wildlife around the Hawkesbury Sea?
Yes. The woomera B-5 exotic ship lore tab
I don't have the ship though. I can't actually see any lore tab.
I was sure it had one
Anyway though it seems the Hawkesbury sea is a settlement maybe? Considering a group of guardians operate there. Also worth noting IRL it's the Hawkesbury River so maybe the traveler did some terraforming
Ay thats the ship ive been using eversince I started playing the game
I wish I had it just because Australia
What
It's description says it's a ship favoured by the fighting dharug. Australian guardians who occupy the Hawkesbury sea.
Australian guardians huh
Dharug also being an Australian Aboriginal people
I noticed that the guardian in the tarrabah lore tab says "she surfaced me" so maybe over there traveler is seen in a different way.
Is there even much going on in Australia
One would assume the Eliksni settled there nicely
I think Hawkesbury is the name of a place in Australia so that means a good portion of the continent is flooded
It is. But as I said IRL it's called the Hawkesbury River so for it to be a sea now makes me wonder if the traveler did something or if the collapse changed it.
I mean a city named Hawkesbury
Ah yes there is also the city.
Which i guess at this point in time would just be ruins just like the edz or cosmodrome.
Also why would that mean that it's flooded?
Earth is flooded and dried up in many places
Panama Canal became a ravine
hello i can actually answer this
Nasa hasn't given me my cheque so I'm putting it out that Australia is real
A) Hawksbury is alongside a not insignificant river - the Hawksbury River
B) Hawksbury is low-lying
Hawkesbury is also a flood risk itself
C) The fact that it is a sea means that it is not simply a raise of water levels but that it is a larger flooded area possibly similar to the Dead Sea
hello can someone correct or add to what i know, all of the ahamkara, the emissary of the nine and savathun knows they are inside the game right?
Arguably, no, and arguably.
The Ahamkara thing references a pair of Exotics, one in particular, which have not been expanded upon
The Nine referred to the Game of Light and Dark and people heard "game" and went wild with it
Savathûn's thing largely refers to the time she took over twitter - as did Caiatl
However that has been treated as the VanNet
Is Savathûn telling Paul Tassi to touch grass canon
oh so canonically they are not aware that they are inside the game, just the communtiy blew their assumptions up and it spread like wildfire?
The Ahamkara may, but it was still not expanded on
More of a meta joke
ah, alright
Savathûn wished to escape this reality to a new one and people combined that with twitter to say "she knows its a game"
the reality she meant is the reality we are in and she meant other reality
alright alright
oh right @trim grotto isnt it the lore on our elemental subclasses have been changed?
just double checking on that part
The tabs were, yes. It didn't retcon the old ones, mind you.
oh ok thank god, my own brain is gaslighting me that this has been the lore tab since before but i swear on the nightstalker lore
i really like its lore because that the nightstalker admitted that they dont have the speed or accuracy but they provide the "feast" for their fellow guardians
something along those lines
Draw from the Void. Light the way.
—
The Bladedancers deride us as slow. The Gunslingers say we lack precision. "How is that better than a knife?" "How is that better than a flaming pistol?" Well.
My boots sink inches into the ground with every step. My rebreather filters the stench out of the air, but my eyes sting like I'm showering with bat...
oh thanks! i was reminding myself what is the lore entries site
GASP REALLY?
Awww poor nightstalker
They must've been bullied?
Because hunters are known for their precision and accuracy?
Especially golden gun
i always say " Eat, my friends. Eat." whenever i activate tether
no one gets it tho lol
They are known for being cunning and adventurous
"Titans have their walls, warlocks have their libraries, but us hunters belong in the wild"
No
The sunbreakers keep iirc
Idk man
just saw that d1 solar super
Hold on lemme find it
i like both of the void hunter/titan old lore tab entry
https://youtu.be/oTE9frQcgmU?feature=shared here it is. Really cool stuff if you're interested @ruby pivot @errant tapir

Sentinel titans
Their lore
Is it connected to they need to protect ppl so they make shield?,
I think you got confused with an old Destination, Titan, the moon of Saturn.
This is a real moon and not related to Titan, the Guardian class.
I think so
All titans protect people. It's who they are. It's just different means of doing so. Some like to be the wall, some throw themselves at the enemy like striker titans. And sunbreakers defend from outside the walls as Zavala puts it
Yes
Thunder crash superman?
Wdym by sunbraker defend them from outside wall?
So they just look for danger?
Like Sasuke?
Naruto hokage protects village from inside
While Sasuke known as the shadow hokage who protects village from outside?
Sunbreakers are a group of solar titans who live outside of the city under their own banner. They still fight for good but just didn't get along with the vanguard because of decisions.
Unfortunately the sunbreakers are gone now though iirc
Zavala generally uses void or arc
I believe it was the red war invasion. They died defending against it.
Based beyond belief
Awww man
(Provided youre a titan ofc)
They died in red war but until now none wants to be sunbreaker?
Its hard to join an group that is dead lol
If all the Iron Lords were dead there'd be no one to become an Iron Lord type of thing
Titans do still wield the sunbreakers hammer. As Alex said it carries their legacy
The name of the sunbreakers isn't forgotten
many many guardians died during the red war invasion
When ghaul sealed the traveler they lost their light

No power means they were severely weakened.

No light
Pretty much
They can heal a guardian but can't bring them back
Whyyy bungie
Ghosts are always connected to the traveler
Its like an invisible link
If that link gets broken or temporarily disabled a ghost will lose their connection to the Traveler aka the Light and thus the Guardian too will loose their ability to use the light
Okay okay
Hang on @errant tapir let me show what it's like to lose light
So ghosts are essentially bridge between guardian and traveller
Ghosts need the light to revive the same way we need the light to use any of its powers
Oki phoenix
Ghaul takes away the light from the player and Traveler, with an epic spartan kick to boot.
Please like and subscribe if you enjoyed!
@errant tapir
Here
Big machine
Watch the cutscene
Not sure if the origin and workings of the tech is known
Do we know where did the tech come from? Like from vex?
It's a giant cage that encased the traveler completely and it suppresses light. I believe the psions made it
A psion assassin used the same tech to try and assassinate Zavala by knocking out his ghost to cut his connection from the light.
@slim girder I assume there is a yt video where it shows the story of red war via all the cutscenes?
Are the cutscenes enough?
I prolly think the story has also some info/context
Yeah they'll give you a good run down of the red war story
Story campaign*
Ghaul attacks, we run away, vanguard rallies, we take back the city.
Why did ghaul wanna attack us?
Well that specific tech was stolen and made literally out of remnants of the cage so Id put in doubt whether its of psion origin
He wanted the light for himself
Villain wanna conquer every planet?
He wanted the light for himself
God damn
By this meaning he just wants to seal it?
He even captured the Speaker to try and force some kind of deal or get the information on how to obtain it
Or learn how to use it?
To which t he Speaker kinda literally told him to off himself
@errant tapir After he got the light he was going to blow up the sun to destroy the solar system.
He wanted to become a guardian himself
And he did for a time but the traveler then destroyed him
Yes
Good
And if I have more questions, I'll forward it
It'll give you a good idea of everything that happened during that time
Ok thanks
Destiny 2 makes the server off when we do not finish:
Hmm
Is this lore?
#🟩server-status🟩 for the future to avoid this
Wrong chats my bad
If Zavala resigned or was KIA and died a final death, who would the position of Commander be given to? If such an event didn't lead to a significant change in the Last City's governmental structure, I'd say Ikora because she has already served a long time as Vanguard. Subsequently, I wonder if Saint or Sloane would take the vacant seat of Titan Vanguard. Not many Titans that wouldn't need new casting for a VA.
I’m in a rise of iron mood so like why did d2 just remove the wall being destroyed and all that?
Why is it now spring forever?
I get removing the plague lands but not like very important details like that
I get roi is made to be forgotten but they aren’t doing well with so many SIVA ornaments
funny enough, before Cosmodrome was brought back in Beyond Light, we actually did go to the RoI version of it for the Thunderlord quest
Oh right I forgot about that
So that begs the question, why is it gone now?
I get the season changing but I also don’t think it’s perpetually spring
Or more so the wall wasn’t magically repaired
Sloane would become Titan Vanguard, and she's already the Deputy Commander.
There is no answer
Great
because they justed ported over a version of the vanilla cosmodrome instead of the RoI remixed version seen in the plaguelands
Is she still
Yes
Seever forever reduced to an accessory
Well, there was that one time in Echoes. And, the recent quest for Outbreak with Ada. quest. Bungie seems to want the Plaguelands forgotten though. Shiro hasn't even made an in-game appearance since then.
You think he'd show up to see Cayde, they were close enough for his Ghost to speak at the funeral.
we didn't even tell Cayde that Saint was alive, it wasn't really on the agenda
plus Ikora can vouch that seeing Cayde again didn't really make losing him a 2nd time any easier
Day 11 of asking fun facts lore
Glint taught Mithrax what the word "idiot" means
I just find it odd, is all. Shiro was good friends with Cayde, and is still the only surviving member of Andal's fireteam.
Is she really the only candidate? Feel like Sloane is more concerned with ahsa even after season of the witch and she shares a bond.
No. But she's Deputy, so it's a logical choice.
Wonder if there are any warlocks or titans in the running for the mantle. This whole time we've only really been looking at hunter vanguards
I don't see ikora going down anytime soon but still something to think about
Aunor could be a good contender
but I don't think letting a Praxic get the seat would be a good idea
She's a good contender initially on paper
But she's shown to sometimes be... Maybe not that good for the position
disagree
yeah, too praxic
I wouldn't want a Praxic in any sort of Last City leadership either. Especially since their order's values have become much more antiquated in recent times.
Well, yes, but it was more to do with the Vex.
The name is more of a reference to Egyptian mythology.
I miss this campaign. It suffered from the curse of Year 1's writing, but I liked seeing Osiris do literally anything.
Osiris is the Egyptian god of the underworld and the judge of the dead.
oh....
In actual Egyptian mythology, not in game
I think the title is just in reference to Osiris' namesake.
I wonder if it could be actually attributed to anything more relevant in-game, if you really wanted to interpret it beyond a referential titling.
Destiny's Osiris has always had a role similar to a prophet, so if I had to guess an in-universe significance, I'd say the curse of foresight. He didn't like the way his words were interpreted, but I suppose you could see that as a "Curse" too, which led him into exile. He even recently still had this role as a character, when he had visions of Neomuna from Savathûn, and still had difficulty getting others to understand, or validate his claims.
Why was he exiled?
Damn guys i just realised
Back in your guys days primary has limited capacity
aye
He was once the Warlock Vanguard and Vanguard Commander. He failed at both of these, too stuck in his research. He made prophesies, and a cult formed around his words. He made no effort to stop them, and constantly decreed the Vex as a threat worse than the Darkness, of which he was also focused on researching, at a dark time.
https://www.ishtar-collective.net/cards/osiris
It was controversial, but the Speaker exiled him.
What drives a Warlock to madness?
Ghosts choose those suited to war and heroism to be reborn. By nature or circumstance they go to battle against the Darkness, and through this battle they learn how to use the Light. But Warlocks, by their nature, fight a second, internal war. This is the war to understand a universe of secrets— a world that exp...
Was Saint still titan vanguard when he went into the infinite Forrest in search of Osiris?
Or did he lay down his duty beforehand already
Mhm?
OUR SUN BLEW UP?
No.
No
No.
No
He wanted to
But we stopped it
Blew up his bigass sun destroying laser space station aka the Almighty
The Almighty was a sun-destroyer acting as a failsafe measure.
Without our sun we'd all kinda be dead.
What about this?
Not our sun.
That was a different sun
Huh?
What part of that is confusing?
They just wanted to show what the almighty could do in a cutscene
So they showed it blow up a random sun
Not ours
The red legion has fought a lot of battles in a lot of systems
We weren't told
A random one from a prior Red Legion conquest.
Wadafak
It wasnt important, it was just to show that they can blow up suns
It was to showcase what it could do for the viewer.
Yes
Well not him
The Rifleman who was the one that shot Sagira
That was the devour bullet
Ohhh
I think I saw that flashback
When Cayde tried to commune with traveller in tfs
Devotion sacrifice bravery
Death
The guardian oath
Yes that was the same scenario
Destiny 2: Forsaken opens with an explosive jailbreak in the Prison of Elders. As the most notorious outlaws in the system escape their confines, the only thing standing between them and our home is you and Cayde-6, the most legendary Hunter sworn to protect the City.
A Vanguard doesn’t go down without a fight.
Witness Cayde’s last stand.
Bu...
This would be the whole cutscene
Okay guys I just watched red war
Took me like 2 hours
It was interesting
We met Hawthorne devrim
That's when they were introduced yeah
what company made shinobus vow bc their icon is in the cosmodrome
Old Russian Aeronautics orgnaization
Given the name, presumably Shinobu made it herself from scavenged Cosmodrome parts, including a piece with the Russian Federal Bureau of Aeronautics, or PФБA, logo.
Shinobu was one of the Six Coyotes, a Hunter group including Micah-10, famous for scouting the Cosmodrome.
I wish i had Prismatic for free
How would you get it for free?
Fight the witness
good lore
For future reference, this channel is for discussing the lore and stories of Destiny. I would say you were probably after #✨destiny-discussion.
what is the lore behind this
Hello
What is the timeline on D2?
Start from beginning pls
I wanna experience all of it
That's a loaded question
And something to note is that we don't have exact dates
Destiny tends to be really secretive on when exactly things take place
And there is a lot of events to go over
A good idea would be to watch Byf's comprehensive timeline video
10 hours?
It's a long watch
Probably, depends on the video
Of course if you're referring to the timeline of stuff that just happens in game, I did make some brief summaries
Should be in the pins of this channel
Ok thanks
is there any exotic or lore book involved with television
Between saint 14, shaxx and Saladin, who's the strongest?
Two tailed fox is the equivalent of an anime opening song
Tough question. There isn't really a way to measure it, to be honest. Each of them have their impressive conquests.
Two Tailed Fox would be the closest bet. Or... the intermittent entries of Cloud Strider Legacies.
https://www.ishtar-collective.net/categories/book-cloud-strider-legacies
Also, Crucible is televised.
Are you referring to all time, all lore, or in game release order like Red War, Curse of Osiris, Warmind
Cloud strider legacies is like a kids show
That is television
In game release order
Red war until tfs
Does this also include Seasons or just DLC
Seasons too
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Vl8m-bLhCOLLMyLGjbsoqiediyWHbGRtxxjLMd0tw4Y/edit?usp=drivesdk
One of our Cryptarchs - with aid from Dova - has been working on this little project
Should have the info you need
Oracle in vex context, in VoG
They're similar to the Gorgons. Ontological forces weaving and burning existence as they see fit.
Anything to do with the VoG is vaguely related to time or existence
Also in VoG u guys mentioned that we do not have info.
Did VoG suddenly appear one day?
Hard to say when it appeared. It's been around for years, long enough to be known as a legend.
The Templar and the Oracles guard the way into the deeper Vault. Legends say that the Oracles foresee what is to come, a world as the Vex desire it - and that the Templar has the power to shape reality to match the Oracles' design, expunging any threats.
The templar is pantheon? The boss?
Atheon is the last boss of the Vault. The Templar is the midway boss. The giant Hydra.
It’s still just Venus
The vault is all about time
What you see in the portals is distant pasts and futures
Note for this
Precursor Vex: White and gold with triangular shapes are the PAST Vex
Descendant Vex: Green and blue with circular shapes are FUTURE Vex
Yeah I know that
Wait wait wait
I was mostly saying for the other guy
That’s what precursor and descendent mean
I am an avid CoO hater
How come I only see gold
Not really blue
They’re just rusted
They’re the vex that are shaped like donuts
They are only in VoG now
Rarely.
Everything else that had them is gone
They are rarer than precursor
They used to be in curse of Osiris and a few other activities
They’re in next to nothing now
The various Vex collectives largely amalgamated into one larger collective by the time of D2. The Sol Divisive are one of the few remaining independent groups.
Sucks they’re my favorite next to divisive or aphix invasive
Also virgo prohibition
How many people do you think know that taken models are all from D1
I mean mostly just the cabal but you can see it on hive too
Have they still not made them different
I don’t think it really matters much tbh
It was neat storytelling back in the early days of D2
It’s very obvious for cabal due to cabal looking entirely different in d1
Plus there haven’t really been any taken wars where individuals have actually gone and been taken
All we have are specific examples of bosses which almost always get unique models
I always loved that one scene where the cabal legionary gets taken in front of us
It was a centurion actually
Yeah I just noticed that
I looked back
Close enough though
Last time they appeared was last season during a special story mission.
It's usually a special instance if either the descendants or precursor vex appear like multiple timelines are converging
Oh right I forgot about that
Last season was also our first precursor wyvren
Yes
So that was cool
And a remake of the martyr mind
Wish they made it a boss like persys but like
Also persys is no longer special as there’s divisive wyvrens now
Also another reminder that wyverns aren’t a combat unit that the vex only recently decided to make
I hate Calus for this
I forgot the reason why
Wasn’t it because they are the first semi “combat” frames
The other guys were just like civs right
No actually
In fact every wyvern boss we’ve faced has been in the same general management/assignment role that Minotaurs and hydras are in
People just take the gameplay and decide it’s the same as the lore
I thought Calus stated the vex we fought before were like farmers and shit
Yes, which is true
Calus did say that, but who says Calus is right
He just ended that message by teasing us with “the day they send real warriors”
We still haven’t seen vex combat frames
People assume wyverns fit that description
They don’t
Vex don’t have combat frames
We don’t know that they’re even a thing
They do not war like we do
Why would Vex need them?
Special reminder the martyr mind was a vex mind specially and meticulously designed to directly combat and kill Saint
And it was just a giant hobgoblin
To kill us
If they could kill Saint with just normal frames what could they do with ones built for war?
They don’t make combat frames
They do not participate in war like we do
They do not go into any areas with the specific intent to fight
Yes and it was quite efficient
It then came back in mission shell and nobody cared because it served zero purpose in that mission pretty much
The vex are not under any threat of losing territory and literally have an infinite amount of time to spend whittling us down
They simply won’t spend the resources trying out combat units because they don’t need to
Honestly vex should just send 800000 supplicants
Waltz’ point was this Vex designed specifically for combative purposes was a frame of Vex we’ve already seen before and not a supposed “combat Vex”
Okay I understand now
Vex don’t need combat Vex because they already are combat Vex basically
Vex are “farmers and engineers and managers” because that is literally their entire existence
They don’t even see our interactions as war
Aside from that little snag with paracausality, the Vex are already the biggest threat in the universe
We’re simply aberrant patterns that will be corrected eventually, it is a guarantee at this point
That’s the point
Every vex is a “normal guy”
They don’t have soldiers or generals
If lightbearer vex were possible we’d probably be fucked
But I don’t think it even is
Their guns are tools firsthand and weapons secondhand
I’m pretty sure the new Grimoire has something hinting at paracausal Vex
They have minds
Which aren’t generals but can act close to them
A general gives orders
Minds give orders
Minds literally just inhabit the bodies of the standard frames around them
They’re network intelligences
The Minds are the only actual distinctive ones
Ah here it is
Osiris sends a message to Ikora urging the Vanguard to prioritise the Vex as a threat once again
Time is inevitably limited, until the Vex in their infinite adaptability learn how Light and Darkness both may be turned to their advantage.```
Minds can think
Other vex forces can not
Sorta… because last season there were golden age persons being put into them and thus, they had minds
Not exactly no
Vex Minds are literally the only minds of the vex
They inhabit all the chassis’s of the frames around them
It’s not a unique individual for every goblin in one sector
They have used the darkness before
Sol divisive worked for the witness and also… you know… the black heart
Also the experiments Maya was doing were specially designed exo frames just made with vex technology with the express purpose of housing simulated Chioma
They aren’t representative of how the vex work at all
I found that one lab oddly disturbing
Where there was a full on vex head put on a exo body
Just ignore the fact we just took one home and put it in a cabinet in the helm
Yeah and also not even the full body
Just the bust
How is Ikora okay with that
Out of all people I think she’d be the most pissed
I wish there was a destiny version of Santa. Like you could have xur by orders of the nine start leaving gifts in random places
Or a malfunctioning tower frame with an incessant need to give gifts
Oryx is basically the Santa for the hive’s Inversion Day
Dead santa
I love inversion day.
Instead of Christmas he inverts everyone.
Every year his brood has an all expenses paid (In blood) trip to an alien world, and invert them in celebration.
why does failsafe have two voices
Firstly: Failsafe has been somewhat malfunctioning for centuries. She's been on Nessus for a long time, alone. It hasn't exactly done her stability any favours.
Secondly: It's a politeness filter! She spends some excess power to... translate her comments into one more befitting of a ship AI. "Nice" Failsafe is that filter.
Normally it'd be always active, but...
and the average emo 16 year old is the original failsafe?
Essentially. Back in the Golden Age, the crew would likely have only ever known Polite Failsafe, but she regularly disengages her socialization filter due to the power drain. It's a very precious resource for a shipwreck, after all.
hold on
i just found out osiris and saint 14 are in a relationship
since when was that a thing?
Season of Dawn, meta wise. Far longer in universe.
So... In this episode, we managed to move failsafe to last city yes? Cozy place, has lots of electricity/fuel
Actually, no. She's got an uplink to the HELM, but she's still physically on Nessus.
I do have qualms about this.
What is qualm?
Is failsafe fully integrated within the ship?
Can we just dismantle some parts while holding failsafe together and just mount her in last city?
Coz failsafe is kind of a good guy
She helped us rescue cayde
She family now
She is fully integrated into the helm now. However she still can operate on Nessus. There was even a bit said by eido when the helm crashed that we had to retrieve her from Europa so she is definitely off of nessus now
She's with us but nothing stopping her from reconnecting to her old Nessus frame should we need to go there for something
Though I'm sure the helm crashing was the last thing she wanted considering it happened to her already with her old ship
Yes.
YAY
Her old ship is yes but she's been fully transferred and integrated to the helm
Eido: So much has happened… I can’t believe the H.E.L.M. is gone. At last we managed to salvage a small section of the ship from Europa. We couldn’t leave poor Failsafe alone out there again. We must operate out of the Last City for now. And so… Welcome to my Tonic Shop.
This, I assume? I don't think this strictly means she's fully uploaded to the HELM.
Just that Eido didn't want her alone, uplink or otherwise
Yes. And also she's able to commandeer the helm like a fully fledged AI would.
Yes, that's true.
I don't think she'd be flying ships while still on Nessus
Shes probably just screen sharing herself there and remote connecting from Nessus
An uplink doesn't mean she's actually hosted there.
When it says she's fully integrated in my eyes that means she's fully been brought to the helm. Again she was able to take control of the helm and eido said we had to retrieve her from Europa after the crash. So to me i believe she has fully left Nessus but is still definitely capable of hooking back up to the exodus black should the need arise
This screenshot is from the quest objective to end Episode Echoes, after we dealt with the Conductor. Remote uplink means she's still on Nessus.
But then if you go talk to her in the helm it says "fully integrated" and now resides in the uncrashable helm (pre revenant ofc)
Eido's comment means nothing. If we abandoned the HELM, Failsafe would be abandoned on Europa and Nessus.
Yes, but integrated doesn't mean it isn't an uplink, either.
Vex, mostly.
The cape/cloak things
I... what?
No the robots
No the other ones
??
They have 4 arms
Fallen?
No the fallen are a secondary threat on Nessus
Scavengers, mostly.
Probably even more by now. That comment is a few years old.
True
As we found out via last Episodes collectibles even the wildlife has some form of Vex stuff in or on them
Theyve adapted to it
And we knew the plantlife had that too, since the Red War
Correct
Remember when they teased the Infinite Forrest on one of those Nessus scanables
Funny times
But that's even more fuel to my belief failsafe has been fully transferred to us from Nessus. Yes she is technically still physically on Nessus I don't deny that but as of now she is the helms AI enough to the point she can take control of it in flight and that we had to retrieve her from Europa to get her back to the city.
Shes an Ai she can assume control from halfway across the system no issue
Correct but now her home is the helm. We even have lore of conversations with different characters like ghost, Osiris and even nimbus sending her messages in the helm like the AI of a ship would do.
I think they are doing that to make her feel more at home
So she feels like she is on the Helm now properly even tho shes technically speaking still on Nessus
Which makes sense as the helm is her new home. We want to welcome her and we've even gifted her 3 pets.
Correct
To be honest, I cannot find anything stating she has anything more than a well integrated remote uplink. I've been going back over all the dialogue of the Episode.
One can only pray we dont control the Helm into a tunnel
Or that shit crashes instantly
@trim grotto btw when was the last time Clvois got mentioned? Is there anything on what bro has been up to since Seraph or is he still just sitting silently on Europa
Not much since Seraph really
To me I don't think a "remote uplink" would be enough for her to just step in and control the ship in an emergency. Ever since echoes ended I believe that it's no longer the case of her having an uplink. The whole episode was all about her integrating her so she could help her deal with the conductor and aside from the battlegrounds activities it seems everything she did was from the safety of the helm.
:(
I know what you think. However, I'm trying to find actual writing or dialogue on it.
Lost Signal presents a case.
I've read that. She's asking a fireteam to reconnect to the helm and when they don't she just sits feeling depressed in the helm. Even though that fireteam was on Nessus.
Yes, which is why it presents a case.
I do wonder what that fireteam was actually doing though. I don't recall a cave of any sorts
I guess it's probably nothing though just some more lore to pad the episode
Well, we found one ourselves. Breach Executable I think it was, first found via a cave in in a Well.
True that might be it
https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/ix-tech-support
The final entry of Polyphony is a mark against full upload - she's still dealing with the XBLK low power issues
Another message was a scheduled reminder to familiarize herself with the H.E.L.M. systems, which were woefully unprepared for the kind of worst-case scenario she had encountered with the Exodus Black. She would have to update the safety systems, bring emergency transmat relays online, calculate possible terrestrial touchdown sites in the unlikely event of a forced landing… unquestionably important work, but, for the first time, she felt it could wait. Also thanks for not waiting too long on this Failsafe
I enjoyed not dying on Europa
—
! INCOMING MESSAGE !
Failsafe's system alert pulled her attention from Nimbus, who was excitedly pacing the H.E.L.M. while delivering a spirited recounting of the last Iron Banner finals. Saladin had been routing the feeds to Neomuna, and the Cloud Strider was thoroughly enraptured by the high drama—judging by Failsafe's internal chronometer,...
Considering she "happily" dismisses the low power notifications from the EXBK it seems like she's less worried about her old body.
She's happily dismissing it because she's gaining reserve power
It was lower before, and references an earlier entry
First time I read that I thought it was wholesome that she has regular messages telling her to familiarise herself with the helm.
Yes. Sry I should have also added that
https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/i-impact
In this entry she was on 4%
By that one, she's up to 7%
—
! IMPACT AFT FUSELAGE !
The alert roused Failsafe from power-saving mode. She reflexively brought the lights up to full, engaged the warning system, and sent a request for complete Exodus Black system information.
"Generating status report, Captain," she said blearily as her optics flickered to life, displaying the empty catwalks and canted ...
Well I've gone over as much relevant dialogue and as many relevant lore entries as I could find and none of it was particularly conclusive about whether she is fully uploaded to the HELM or just very well integrated via remote uplink
I'm going to stick to the former as far as I have interpreted it but if you find something with a little more stick to it, let me know
No worries. It's still my belief that she is fully integrated and is now the helms ai due to all the lore that's been put out and but obviously unless it's explicitly stated by bungie then it can always be disproven. I'll keep looking for anything.
Poor Failsafe, not even a few months after her integration and her (Possibly) new home was crashed because of a large stinky zombie king.
At least her crew is alive this time though and she was retrieved afterwards.
Ngl though I was kinda expecting her to make a joke about deja vu or something after the crash.
Perks of being friends with Risen
"Captain, I'm glad this time I wasn't stranded on a planet" switches filter "Ugh whyyyy does this keep happening to me"
are the enemies in vesper house scorn or fallen
pretty sure its fallen right?
my friend is telling me its scorn
i dont see those little shits doing the dark ether run
Vesper’s Host has all Fallen enemies
i am being gaslighted by my friend that they are scorn because they are "dead"
i come back and ask this every season but so far into revenant has the shadows or yor of dredgen yor been mentioned i heard a rumour going around a few months back that they might be mentioned again? haven’t had time to play it through yet.
No.
They are not dead. More possessed imo.
There undead fallen
Scorn yes. Not the fallen in vespers
Fallen are fallen
We're saying that there aren't Scorn in Vesper's.
Yea
They may be undead fallen but that doesn't make them Scorn
The fallen in vespers are not dead.
Their minds have just been merged into one under the one intelligence of the white captain
yeah Corruption puppets =/= Scorn
in multiple ways
since Scorn can have their own thoughts
though Witness Scorn specifically are more similar
Day 12 of asking fun facts lore
Cayde canonically died on a Tuesday (not referring to TFS I'm referring to when he originally died in Forsaken)
damn
Yes. Ana bray spent years teaching him about human culture so he could make better decisions to protect humanity.
Back in D1 and in D2 he often had ballet music playing as a way to signal us to certain things
he was made to be an AI so advanced that he would surpass humanity
then Clovis Bray would obtain him and would develop him further into the Warmind
Clovis didn't like an AI being human and saw only power.
Even attempting to take control of Rasputin in season of the seraph which would have been imo cataclysmic.
The Hidden may want to study the Tuesday phenomenon. Suspiciously, things only happen on that day.
Is fynch a gud guy?
That is a topic of debate during the campaign of Witch Queen. Playing it should answer your question.
Bad guy trying to right his wrongs for siding with savathun
But you'd get way more context if you played the expansion. That explains it in much more detail.
I'm lazy 😦
Lots of ghosts felt sad they didn't find their guardians so savathun took advantage of that.
Again play the expansion
It'll give you all the answers you're looking for
Savathûn is a massive manipulator
That’s like her whole character trait
There's a lore card of her coaxing some trapped ghosts into reviving hive guardians by saying "you want to help the traveler don't you?"
The AI was fascinated with the humans and their creation, the human was fascinated with the power and immortality of the AI
who else but clovis bray i guess
Atraks’ title, the wildcard, was actually foreshadowing her becoming the fallen exo we know now
Yes
Previous member of Eramis’ council, first (and currently only known) fallen exo
The wildcard? Where was that title mentioned
Yeah all of Eramis’ council had titles like that
It’s just since we never exactly hunted or spoke to Atraks you kinda have to read to find that out
Eremjs pulled a baron?
Mad bomber
Except with Eramis’ council I can remember their names and titles
I can’t remember like any of the baron’s names
Only their titles
I think I tried my hand at remembering them somewhat recently and got most of them so lemme try again
True
Actual such a fallen moment
SIKRIS, or some other sssss
Reksis Vahn, the Hangman
Pirrha, the Rifleman
Araskes, the Trickster
Yaviks, the Rider
Kaniks, the Mad Bomber
Hiraks, the Mindbender
Fikrul, the Fanatic
Now to see who I’ve forgotten or got wrong
Lotta Ks
Majority of fallen names are easy as they have ending suffixes like human names
OHHH
I MISSED ONE
Elykris, the Machinist
But I got the rest right
Holy shit
Why am I like this
Aksis, Atraks, Eramis, etc.
All end with s’s
Somehow the only baron that’s still kinda alive (dreaming city and rev)
There are examples that don’t though
Vosik is one off the top of my head
Well, she’s Scorn now but I guess
Fun fact: vosik was supposed to have the title the machinist before the forsaken baron
It was scrapped and reused for her
Honestly I think roi went through development hell
How the fuck are these the same character concept art or not
Definitely siva’d the hell out of it
Wonder how it would’ve turned out if it wasn’t all that red
Also wow you can see the quality of that arm cannon, time sure has passed
SIVA was for sure not always in the ideas for ROI
Concept art doesn’t show it at all
Oh they kept the atraks design?
And they used this almost flood looking design for the enemies? Neat
Wonder what the idea was in early development, like the theme
*aksis
Oops
The aksis design isn’t exactly the same
He wasn’t attached to wires but rather the wall in the real game
They kept the 4 legs, (and stuck with it through beyond light)
He was last mentioned in bl then forgot about
I found it I’m not sure
Bruh

@trim grotto more evidence for failsafe officially being a helm AI now. She's now upgraded to V3 of herself and it says she's in charge of advanced vanguard operations. Also when you look at her in the helm she's labelled as a Helm AI.
She’s still physically located on Nessus. On the H.E.L.M. it’s a remote uplink. She’s even just a hologram there
V3 only happens because of the upgrades in act 3
You manually upgrade her in act 2 and act 3
She’s integrated with the helm but anything happening to the helm won’t affect her
All her actual physical systems and ai is in the exodus black
If that were destroyed she’d just shut down completely
And it’s spread across miles of wreckage right?
If that were the case then it means nothing if she's still on nessus. Not like she just brought the upgrades back to nessus. Also she has enough control as to commandeer the helm when it crashed and we had to retrieve her form eutopa. She's also been told to familiarize herself in the helm and we have given her gifts like pets to welcome her.
Yeah that’s the point
The helm gives her a new window to a different ship
We did not literally move failsafe from the exodus black to the helm
It’s an integration that lets her ai access the helm’s systems
This is why it’s literally a hologram projection of her core on the exodus black
We upgraded the systems she uses on the helm
She now monitors her old body. But she's a full helm ai now. Yes her body is still on nessus but that AI has been moved into them helm just like rasputin did with the exo frame
They are completely different situations
Rasputin had to be built back up from the ground up using an engram containing a fraction of his original code
Failsafe’s current situation would be more like the exo frame originally just giving Clovis an access point
Because that's what she looks like. What's supposed to be there? Obviously we can't bring the exodus black to the helm. and that central unit really would just be her "face"
Failsafe would not have had an entire conversation at the end of echoes about us leaving her again if she were just a permanent addition to the helm now
Her entire being is still housed on Nessus
I don’t really get why you even care about it being one way or the other
What difference does it ultimately make?
They should bring Asher back instead
Me and mael were just having a friendly debate is all and he told me to ping if i found something.
That was more because the mission was over. Not like she just disconnected and went back to nessus. As we saw in the intro for this episode she's still very much residing in the helm
She'll miss working with us because we've dealt with that threat for the time being
She can reside in the H.E.L.M.
With the uplink
And she can assume control of its systems, which isn’t really that out of the question for her to be able to do
I don't think it's just an uplink if she's able to take control of the helm. Also why would she just go back to nessus? we have been told many times that she was lonely there but now with all the upgrades we've given her she is as the subtext says "fully intergrated" to the point she is called a helm AI and is charge of vanguard ops. I don't think she'd be given that role if she was still on nessus. Yes her body is on nessus and yes if that was lost we might not know what would happen but as with rasputin it is possible to have an ai transfer over completely which is what i believe is the case here. And after the helm crashed we had to retrieve her form Europa. if it was just an uplink why didn't she just zap back to nessus since that's where she still is. If this was an uplink then why is it spoken like we had to go get her back?
She lives in the helm and she can still go to nessus and use her old exodus black body as she always has but now she has a new home to go to with us in the helm
Why couldn’t she remotely control the H.E.L.M.?
I don’t get why you’re imposing that arbitrary limitation
That's a lot of control to give something who is still on another planet even if she's an ally. I just don't see why she wouldn't be a helm AI now. Again her body is still on nessus and she can still go there but she has no reason to and can instead live in the fancy helm that we spent a whole episode bringing her into. Not like we just plopped a beacon down and gave her control. She had to be upgraded and properly intergtated. And now she is and is the official ai for the helm. I would fully expect her to still be around when the helm flies again if it does.
You’re saying it like it was a normal occurrence we talked through and agreed on
Remote steering of the helm was shut off, Failsafe just had access to the internal systems and nudged it toward Europa instead of just letting it drift
She didn’t have much reach outside of just that
The words she used was “assuming control”
And then when it crashed a point was made that we had to go get her from Europa. If she was just controlling the ship from nessus that wouldn't have been necessary. It was also said we didn't want to leave failsafe all alone there.
She would have been back to square one if the helm crashed and we did nothing
We got the helm
Eido said she wouldn’t want failsafe to be on a ship that also was left crashed
The helm is now in the city
I know. I was just saying that's what would have happened if we'd just done nothing.
I don’t think you’re really getting the point
We very much would have gone and reclaimed the helm, failsafe or not
Eido’s entire character is just bringing personal feelings into otherwise objective and professional operations which is why they wrote the point of her referencing failsafe
Eido is also naive
For failsafe, what happened was she was given a new look into a functioning ship, a ship that then crashed
Eido just feels good about the fact that the new ship wasn’t also just left to rot on hostile ground
And it wouldn't of been a good idea to leave the helm abandoned
There could of been valuable stuff left behind
Regardless of failsafe
Like failsafe. Both are valuable assets.
Comparing a colony AI to a warmind capable of planetary destruction is a bit of a stretch imo. I'd say comparing failsafe to astrea from vespers is more plausible
The fact is failsafe wouldn’t have been “stuck” in the helm if we left it there
All her actual systems are still on the Exodus black
Nothing changed about that
Soon as she connected to the helm she got caught up in what happened
Yes but also she defo using the helm systems its more of a transfer
She's spoken about upgrading the helm in some lore cards. Once again yes her main systems are on Nessus I'm not saying she's completely abandoned them or anything. But now she has a new home on the helm with much more advanced tech she can use instead. So now her nessus systems can have a more secondary role which failsafe herself has even said she's happy about, dismissing messages and just letting her old body build it's charge now that she doesn't have to worry about it
The low power came from overusing her happiness filter in order to act more appealing to get us to like her more and spend more time with her
She deactivates it in the middle of echoes
The low power was because of incursions. She said this when reading one of the alerts.
Since we've been keeping everything at bay.
You think Failsafe and Ana would get along? It isn't Rasputin, but she has a knack for teaching, and treating AI. Failsafe might consult her if she really wanted to experience the world through a more human lens, like an Exo frame. Ana and Elsie already made good progress on Rasputin's frame during Seraph, they'll be familiar with the task.
I'm sure they would.
Day 13 of asking fun facts lore
Kovik’s monster is the only non-fallen siva enemy
As they are a hive ogre
Kovik, the devil splicer’s priest
https://www.destinypedia.com/Kovik,_Splicer_Priest
he did experiments with multiple things
Would the siege engine not count
It’s human tech
also the iron lords
I'd remember if I see a triangle head four arms looking one
Again, it was d1 only
GAH DAMN
The ogre was from the silent brood
Kovik's Monster was a Hive Ogre infused with SIVA by Kovik, Splicer Priest. As part of the High Priest's twisted experiments, it had its eye torn out of its socket and attached to his weapon. From then on, it would serve Kovik's bodyguard and pet project, as shown in the Wretched Eye Strike.
I guess so
But like the fallen took it to make it their own so like idk
The iron lords I get 100%
In terms of what
Ogre originate from hive yes?
Ogre are hive
Yes
Non fallen Siva enemy?
So usually fallen are Siva?
Wut?
No
There was a faction in d1 called the Devil splicers in rise of iron
They were imbued with siva
They used SIVA to fight
Oh
The Devil Splicers were the Splicer sect of the Fallen House of Devils, originally a small group of young and ambitious Fallen who saw SIVA as a method for them to achieve technological apotheosis and essentially godhood. They attempted to spread SIVA among their Devil brethren, as well as any Fallen who were willing to cut off their Ether ratio...
Rise of Iron was a filler dlc bungie had to make when activision told them they had to get started on D2
Hive tried invading earth at the start of D1
Emphasis on tried
We killed their leaders and Crota so the only hive left were just remnants in the cosmodrome
He kidnapped it as they were fighting the splicers
Devil splicers empowered with siva just managed to clean house and isolate them for capture
It’s more than that
It’s peak
Yeah but that’s literally the situation
I guess so yeah
Devil splicers only exist because it’s all bungie could manage to make at the time
But they did do good for filler
Reskinned fallen with a couple new grenades
It’s why the concept art was distinctly not siva themed
The concept art was wild
Really half life coded imo
The flood like designs for the base guys was something I wanted to see
Vosik being a minigun gun was certainly an early choice
I do really like ROI and SIVA
But to think what if they were just normal fallen?
If the concept art came to light and actually leaned into the horror more (which I wish they did)
Honestly I feel like at certain points it would be a lot more scary/threatening
Like all SIVA does is cover people in big black polygons and red licorice
But imagine if the iron lords were like, puppeted by fallen machinery welded into their skeletons or something
Aksis hacking himself to pieces and replacing it with shank/servitor parts
