ok yeah I listened to them again I was wrong, they're all memories, visions, feelings etc. of the traveler. micah does go into third person to speak about the traveler a couple of times but mostly it's basically the traveler's thoughts being expressed directly through her
do debates happen here
the traveler being sentient was never in question, really
the pale heart is the only thing âinsideâ the traveler
itâs not like an egg
actually do we know for sure that topologically we were inside the traveler?
boberto era lore discussion
Okay cool
Yeah, but why can't it fucking talk more?
it can't talk at all
it prefers not to because it knows for a fact people would twist its words and try to use it as an excuse to do terrible things, or misinterpret it entirely
Magic
or yeah if it can, that
remember the last time it spoke directly to an individual and gave them a chance?
what we got in the pale heart wasn't even the traveler talking, it was its memories that micah can only attempt to interpret
That was Clovis, and it tried desperately to convince him not to continue experimenting with clarity
He took it as a challenge
like there was no direct communication, what micah said may not have been word for word what was really there
Then why use the speaker?
Sure it can act
the speaker was active while the traveler was âdeadâ following the collapse
Giving a sword of light and stuff
While his intentions were genuine, he still lied to the whole of humanity city the entire time
the speaker explicitly said "I never said it spoke to me" in the red war
The traveler told him directly it doesnât need speakers before he died
I still don't understand that part. Possibly because I left right after last wish was completed
That really has nothing to do with year 1 content
But sure
After fighting off the black fleet during the collapse and then creating all the ghosts, the traveler was wounded and left dormant
it essentially went into a coma
it had no capacity to communicate at all, and all the speaker could do was listen for its idle dreams
everything he did was his own decision and conclusions
That's my point
huh so was he just antagonising ghaul when he said the traveler doesn't speak to him? or was he saying it doesn't speak to him anymore
Didn't the traveler heal later in year 2 or 3?
it never spoke to him
the traveler woke up during year one
when it broke out of the red legionâs cage
I mean yeah, but healing?
it was fractured but more active than it had been in a millennium
healing isnât the point
so how did it communicate that it doesn't need speakers?
it was comatose before
Ok
the speaker was born post-collapse
no speakers got any visions
it was only until the very end of the red war, just before the traveler broke free, that it gave him that message
it was awake before breaking out, but not for very long
oh my bad I misread
itâs like if you fought off a bunch of guys, then went into a coma
while youâre in the coma, someone puts you in a weird blanket
you whisper to someone that itâs okay for them to leave now before you tear the blanket off
yeah I understand I just got the timeline wrong
just replace âleaveâ with âaccepting deathâ since the speaker was a prisoner of war and was tortured for months at that point
he was at peace before he died, at least
Well, duh. Fucking tortured
Sorry, how did we get into the Traveler again?
What was Mara's job in the first mission?
I only remember that we used Riven to send Crow through the portal.
Mara used her conncetion with crow to open the portal for us
its how we got trough
from how i understood it
Space magic basically
https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/iron-forerunner-helm
Saladin's life when he was first Risen. It was not pretty. Later, this:
Saladin remembers all this and more when he looks at the Crow. He feels rage form a hot pit in his belly when Osiris tells him about the young Lightbearer's suffering at the hands of his fellow Guardians. Osiris asks him if he can keep a secret.
"I don't like secrets," Saladin says, and that's the end of it.
What secret is Savathun(?)/Osiris talking about?
"Some know the legend. We threw ourselves on the blades of tyranny so others may live free." âLord Saladin
â
I.
Saladin remembers what it was like to be young. He remembers the exhilaration of discovering the infinite power he now holds in his hands. He remembers the terror, tooâhis first death and the agony of a ruptured lung. His mouth had bee...
It looks like he doesn't know that Crow was Uldren Sov in his past life, and that's the secret Osiris was trying to tell him. Did he decline hearing the secret because he didn't think Crow's suffering could be justified?
Also who's the Saladin writer? All the Saladin lore is so peak
Probably Saladin
how does a cosmic space horse fit into destiny lore?
Tbh we donât really know lmao
I donât know if thereâs any lore on Starhorse really

I need to know
this is peak fiction and I must see more of it
Binocular reflection catches his sight over the smoldering cliff, looking down in his direction. Unfamiliar voices echo across the rocks. A figure calls out, and others join them. Between hacking coughs, Saladin counts half a dozen hostiles. His fingers ache with chill, and his lungs sting as if coated in rime. He exhales unsteadily. For a moment, Saladin imagines Lady Jolder plunging through the clouds, booming with laughter. He imagines her obliterating the cliffside with a colossal javelin of Arc lightning without hesitation. These nameless men die, and she keeps laughing until Saladin joins. His near miss becomes an embarrassing story embellished round a campfire until another takes its place, and it is forgotten. Lucidity falters, and in this moment, he can almost breathe the ash. Smell the stormy night air. Feel the warmth of the fire, of his friends. As real as worn memories, rosed with age.
Saladin remembers what it was like to be young. He remembers the exhilaration of discovering the infinite power he now holds in his hands. He remembers the terror, tooâhis first death and the agony of a ruptured lung. His mouth had been too full of blood to form words or plead with his Ghost, so he tried with his eyes instead.
Flowery prose that invokes strong imagery đ„

When did Mara and Savathun stop being mysterious
They seem a lot more chatty in final shape
Savathun was always chatty
And Mara stopped being mysterious after oryx kicked her door in and basically infected her house with mold
The greatest description of taken king right there
Pretty sure it's not meant to be taken seriously
is it true that oryx once punched a moon so hard that it caused a singularity?
Is there any lore about Icarus dash?
Did a warlock fly too close to the sun and learn to dodge?
in frontiers, are we going to leave sol?
We don't know anything about Frontiers.
Do any of you remember that one cutscene of the drifter and a shadow of yor wielding âthornâ, And do you think we will ever get any more glimpses of them, from what i can tell they havenât been mentioned since.
They haven't, because they were a random unnamed Shadow who didn't really matter to the story.
Are they still as active then? Theyâre so badass, iâd do anything to become one in game.
There are a small amount still active but I think you don't actually know what the Shadows are in the grand scheme of things
A scheme being an accurate way to describe them actually
Whatâs your personal opinion on them then? out of curiosity do you agree with some of there points? would you like to see them in game again?.
Originally, the Dredgens were formed by those who sought to follow in the footsteps of Dredgen Yor and wield similar power to the infamous mass murderer.
Eventually, along came Shin Malphur. Shin had undergone some self discovery, and came to the conclusion that learning to ride the line, wield Dark without corruption, was something we needed to learn to do.
He came to Drifter, and they set up a deal. Drifter's work, using Shin as a boogeyman, reforged the title of Dredgen. Through Gambit, making things like Malfeasance, we learned that a little bit of Darkness was something we could learn to use safely.
However, some of the old Dredgens wanted more. They wanted to learn to surpass Dredgen Yor. So Shin Malphur and some allies of his created a scheme.
Shin himself created the Shadows of Yor, superficially for those who wanted to surpass Yor. In reality, it was a way for Shin to track and keep an eye on those who delved too deep... and to know exactly who to put down.
Thatâs interesting, is shin ever mentioned or recognised in his doings? by the vanguard. Seems only right? fitting character for crows spot.
The Vanguard aren't really a fan of his form of justice, but they allow his actions nonetheless. He is a loner, doesn't really interact with the City. If you're referring to the Hunter Vanguard position, there's absolutely no way he or the Vanguard would accept it.
Crow just filled it as well so like... that ain't changing for a few years lol
If ever
i dont get riven lore tbh
so the old lore books
did uldren find riven before or after
the hunt
and if it was before
who tf abandoned a baby aharmkara
as sentient as they are, theyâre still animals
they do not have societies or culture
they mate, have spawn, and then continue on with their lives
Uldren found riven before the great hunt, and she was kept a secret all throughout her time with the awoken
@empty fern can you send the Pulled Pork thing again? It was so cute!
Shin is a myth made up by Big Darkness to make keeping track of the Light's capabilities more convoluted
Does anyone have a link to the full Stjephan Sejic art series that Byf commissioned(?) for his TLW video? Found some of them online but it looks like his deviantart doesn't have them anymore. The collection I found is missing the paintings of Shaxx with Rezyl and adult Shin confronting Yor.
cyrell ingame when
The what
.
Whatever happened to Pulled Pork? Did he find his guardian?
Thanks
Did I miss something?
No way
Pulled Pork was the name given to Glint by others
No waaayyyy
You a goober
So how did he end up finding crow?
Omg is there written lore for it? I wanna know if Glint says anything to crow
Not to my knowledge
oh actually, I found something
â
The Ghost hovered a few meters above the small campfire and tried, again, to explain the rules. The Lightbearer chewed on a bit of tough gray root. He had softened it over the fire and its sour flavor had mellowed into something approaching black pepper. To his surprise, he found himself enjoying it.
He interrupted his Ghost.
"You've explained...
Not sure how close this is to his rez but this is where the name Glint is chosen for Crow's ghost
and here is where he was named Crow
https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/ii-identity#book-a-tangled-web
â
The Ether pipes rattled their arrhythmic beat as they greeted a new arrival in the Spider's lair.
He entered with hesitance. Gold eyes flitted around the room like a nervous animal. His clothes were those of a traitor. The white shawl of a funerary covering draped across shoulders that hunched downward as if a heavy burden rested on them. He w...
Yeah, because they didn't know he had been rez'd by a ghost and knew about the whole Cayde thing
There are a few different things it can be
Since the Vanguard explicitly forbids people looking into their pre-rez life, that might be it. Especially since Glint says he "can't" tell Crow his old name
How long was crow dead before he was rezâd?
well let's see
the cutscene we got was during one of the Queen's Court visits which happened every three weeks
Was Forge the season released with Forsaken? I wasn't playing then
no, Forsaken was Season of the Outlaw
The Queens Court for that cutsene was Loop 5 BTW
ok, so the cutscene where we see Uldren get revived was on the 5th loop
which would mean he was rezzed 15-16 weeks after we killed him
give or take
So he was dead for like, almost 4 months ish
Thatâs not that long! Arenât most guardians like dead for a long time before they get ~ghosted~
Why couldnât glint tell him his previous name? Everyone else was going to bc he hadnât been dead that long
I think Glint himself wasn't aware until a bit later
but he did know at some point
I think he didn't feel that it was the right time
How does xivu BE the god of war tho? Does she turn a species onto itself? Does she go to war with the entire species? Does she simply make an ongoing war significantly worse?
She goes to war with entire species
Or, since her worm feeds on conflict, she does all 3
Conquering I think? Some type of exploring stuff
I made a typo in cunning đ

Would explain that Navigator nickname
Yea
Can someone explain the âNo Rez For The Wearyâ chapter? How was the guardian frozen?
Gimme more context, Iâm too lazy to read it
âFly to the Almighty and you will find him there, caught in the amber of slow time, reaching forever. I have observed his motions carefully. He will arrive at the mechanism and deactivate the trap in only a little more than fifty thousand years.â
Oh the almighty ghost story
Basically a guardian got caught in the almighty beam, and the ghost canât res them due to, uhhhhh
Suspended animation? Or was it every atom of them was gone
Was the Archology on Titan made by the Clovis bray foundation?
Or by an unknown corp
Whoâs Savin?
Have we figured out OXA and otzot yet
Y'know.. I noticed Byf is really obsessed with us losing Earth and going on an exodus. Like in Season of Arrivals "we gotta abandon earth with dead orbit"
Lightfall "were gonna lose earth"
Into the Light "we gotta evacuate earth"
Final shape "we might lose earth"
Like bruh, we ain't losing that shitty D2 tower, chill.
Frontiers even "were gonna leave Sol and explore the universe."
I wouldn't mind going to a distant exoplanet and protecting it for a season
Man's done so much Destiny lore he wants to leave Sol so he doesn't have to cover the Ahamkara or Zavala for the 678th time
The OXA is referring to the Psion's prediction engine where they glimpse the past and possible futures like the Vex but.. psionic
Otzot is a Psion character who rebuilt after the Cabal empire destroyed the original when they subjugated the Psion species
i mean
you cant blame him lmao
i wanna see outside of Sol
Oh I'm not but dude has no faith in the indomitable Guardian spirit
lmao
Still waiting for Bungie to do a War Moon 3D model for skybox or a patrol zone
I wanna see the bug death stars
And then contemplate the age old question "what does it taste like?"

An early Awoken Warlock
It wasn't designed and run by them, no. The Titan Arcologies were independent colonies. However, there were CB executives and a corporate embassy.
Their tech may have also been involved in creating them, however.
Mael, welcome

Mael, unwelcome
Who is Maya Sunderesh?
Maya Sundaresh was a Golden Age Ishtar scientist who researched the Vex alongside her team, including her partner Chioma Esi.
You may have heard of the 227 before, who were that very research team, but simulated 227 times by a Vex unit before being saved by Rasputin and unleashed onto the Vex network.
indeed!
||though not one of those||
Single goblins have like an absurd amount of processing power, for the record
do the vex view us as monsters like the still hostile fallen given we have been slaugthering them for so long?
Vex don't think like we do. Or any other species, really.
true true
or well the nessus vex have started to change, apparently even a full blown civil war between em
The fallen that are hostile also donât really see us as âmonstersâ
they just have their own personal vendetta against the traveler and life in general
Salvation was said to be helping with the final shape because they just want suffering to end
yeah
I mean they did see Saint as a monster
We have killled a lot of fallen too
that was an entirely different situation
Saint earned himself boogieman stories because he was intentionally committing genocide
We kill pirates that are stealing from us and warlords trying to end our civilization
That doesnât inspire horror stories
mabye not as much
the closest thing you ever have is Phylaks acknowledging our feats like killing oryx
Nothing even related to fallen
they really donât think about guardians like that

Yeah at this point it does seem too that most.. moraly good aligned fallen have joined house light
with remants of house dusks just being warlords, unreasonable crime bossses, pirates, etc
and House Salvation being House Salvation
they in a full blown civil war again seemingly according to crow after final shape
or at least "tearing itself apart"
Here's a thought I've been pondering tooo
Have the scorn been fully restored to their eliksni selves following the echo coming into Fikrul's hands?
We saw in the recent look for the next few episodes of Vampire Fikrul surrounded by Vampire dregs
I didn't really see any Scorn wretches
That could be intrested if they have become more normal looking undead eliksni
hence the fallen vampire stuff they said about it
Makes sense...
Vampires generally are associated with immortality
and also looking good + not mindless like zombies
New ranks maybe
No chieftains or Captains
Maybe a Count
Countess
Perhaps that too
Yee
fits with the title of barons too
Ooooh!!!!
I got one!!
oh?
Nice little vamp names for Fikrul's new supposed barons
Maybe....
And just maybe...
The scorn barons could be resurrected the same way
likly
we know the barons could be resurrected
Fikrul just never got a chance to it, cause we kept killing him
and stomped on his efforts
then he was driven from the tanlged shore and then the witness took command of the majority of the scorn

in some season of the wish lore it did say Fikrul was in command of a ketch but he was on purpose keeping some living fallen alive to pilot it @devout vine
đ€
Perhaps it could elude to a bigger plan when Revenant comes around
He kept them alive for a reason
Yeah
But now that the Echo he has, empowered him
he may be wanting to forge his own future for the fallen
He now has the means to command whole legions of Eliksni
true immortality for his race in the form of vampire fallen
Yeah with the witness gone too he can resert command over the scorn again
i do hope Revenant gives us a new patrol zone...
but that's just copium hoping
But will they feast on ether?
Or will they be real vampires and feast on all types of blood?
Will there be Nosferatu Eliksni?
not sure
Mabye they will suck ether out of other fallen and infect them too in some way?
that would fit with the vampire stuff
Oooh virulence factors
How could I forget about that...
The factions executors dipped two years ago, what exactly happened to 'em? Don't care for spoiling
You mean the faction leaders from the last City?
Mhm, Hideo and the other two
They attempted genocide against our Eliksni allies and were subsequently killed in the battle or fled the city
THEY WHAT?!!
Lakshmi specifically
The two others vanished
There was âsomeâ trickery done by Savathun, but Lakshmi looked into her prediction engine and saw a future where the vanguard would be dead/exiled and she would control the city as a sovereign state
Hideo and Jalaal were in on it, so when Lakshmiâs plan blew up in her face (she died) they fled the city
Damn, they got Molly Wopped hard
Then, who's gonna take the factions over?
What does it mean?
What does what mean
The factions broke apart
Well most of FWC werenât actually down for committing genocide and stirring up an insurrection so a bunch resigned
It was only Lakshmiâs personal council left at the end, really
Yeah
The city have more or less been Vanguard controlled since then
Ooooof... Damn, and I thought they were cool this whole time!
Kek
In retrospect, a faction built on the idea of war happening isnât usually the kind one
Man, talking about turning your back on your homies
Do we know if dead orbit and new Monarch tried to leave the system or are they just Living out in the wilds of earth now with Lysander?
Got cha
Welp... Thanks for the info y'all
Np
Plus, that pfp... Cute
Do we know how house light and Imperial Cabal first reacted to eachother after the Imperial Cabal became official allies in season of the risen?
Donât think so
Probably âdamn you live like this?â on both sides
then just a bunch of âthe light providesâ and âwe eat the mountains, we drink the seasâ
Lol
We don't know the origin of the trap. We haven't gotten any more lore on that guardian or their ghost. Which sucks because the Almighty was destroyed so either they are safe and still trapped or dead
Hopefully the ghost was able to rez
yee
Also did Savathun and Immaru plan all along for Savathun to die, then to have Immaru bring her back as a Lightbearer and then trick untold thousands of Guardianless ghosts to join the hive?
Basically
or was Immaru always ment to raise Savathun mixed with tricking guardianless ghosts to join the lucent brood?
There was still a gamble of whether the Traveler would even allow it to happen ofc
got cha

i want some new lore about siva and the iron lords i think that part of destiny lore has so much potencial
I mean, SIVA doesnât really have much potential that hasnât already been used/shown
Itâs just technology. Weâve faced it used by our enemies and weâve seen it used for its intended purpose of colonisation, and then directly improved on with Quicksilver
Seeing more about how it was used during the Golden Age would be cool
i mean ye siva ye but iron lords come on
Acts of Mercy is peak fiction
Lore that only talks about a tiny settlement and a mortal warlord but with broader implications about how the Iron Lords operate and what the Dark Age was like đ„
fr
SIVAAAAA â€ïžđ€â€ïžđ€â€ïžđ€â€ïž
Man with no name is the best dark age book

I know, I've been campaigning for the end to their story for a while now
Why are there classes?
Cuz the traveler said so
How are ghosts born? I know they're from the traveler but what does it look like when the travel "births" them
They just spawn in
@ember storm i think this is for you
Well, for starters, it only happened once
There is a limited number of ghosts and there probably wonât be any more
It was also sort of unceremonious, there wasnât any meaningful buildup
If I were to supply some kind of visual reference:
Some are still searching for their guardian to this day
A lot of them resorted to joining the lucent hive, but yes, there is still a meaningful amount of those unpaired
Like the ones in alone in the dark
Well those arenât really looking for guardians
They're still unpaired ghosts
What is the best expansion story wise?
The final shape
So does anyone know what the Witness was saying?
Also is there a translation for Dread languauge yet?

this is what they have so far for dread
How long did it take you guys to read all the lorebooks
Just finished the Shadowkeep/Undying lorebooks and it's been 2 months since I started from Forsaken/Outlaw
Oh thereâs a lot I just never read
I didn't exactly count it
I find the answer the that question makes people think I have issues
Omg did you read all of them?!
Become orange
As far as I am aware, yes. Plus a lot of other bits and bobs and entries.
Woah, Mael youâre dedicated!
I think it's pretty neat-o
I thought Cayde was used perfectly in the campaign
And he was here for just the right amount of time
I think youâre pretty neat

cuteness
OOH this is why
people said stuff about Rohan
He bye bye! But didn't spend enough time with him to care though đŠ
Yes
LOL at the Rocky Training Montage before Attacking Calus
kek
Honestly one of my favourite cutscenes
Is there a lore reason those little green freaks can use strand in tfs? Did they already know how to use it when they got subjugated?
Dread were created. Those "little green freaks" used to be Psions.
Strand itself wasn't known until we ourselves fashioned it from the Weave
Freaky little green beans
it would have been interesting to see the lightbearers/vanguard start raising a few eyebrows at the disciples of darkness after the end of TFS. i want answers. i want the stranger to not be so damn mysterious. maybe that's too much to ask for..
You might have to elaborate. What do you want from the Disciples?
And the Stranger? The Exo Stranger? Elsie Bray has been rather straightforward with us for years now.
i wanna know how they started using the darkness and when they started using it
Well, we know when and why Rhulk did. We know when and why Emperor Calus did. We know when and why for those who nearly became Disciples, that being Eramis and Savathûn. The only one we don't really know much about is Nezarec.
And that one unnamed Disciple who exists in a single lore page
Was the speaker a warlock?
i made the mistake of conflating "darkness users" with "disciples of darkness" im mainly curious about the heroes who use darkness. it seems like the writers just kinda... brush over it.. so maybe its not as important as i think it is
It hasn't really been brushed over. The whole "we started using Darkness" thing has been going for years now.
basically. he recieved messages from the traveller through visions and dreams
Using Darkness is starting to become an accepted norm amongst certain people, but it certainly didn't start this way. Heck, it was still outlawed for some time after Beyond Light.
In fact, the whole process started before that, when Drifter and Shin's deal got us to learn to use Darkness and Taken Blight.
If you're curious about something specific, we can certainly help, because a lot of this is at least a little known about.
Not me, though. I must sleep now.
thank you for filling my mind
Does this have anything to do with Malfeasance? I've never done the quest but I recognize the Dredgens
It is directly relevant, yes.
Malfeasance and Gambit were some of our first steps in dipping our toes into Darkness without diving too deep or succumbing to corruption or power.
âThis is what the taken feel, revel in itâ was fairly unsettling at first, drifter basically forcing you to use darkness for your teamâs success
Six years of it kinda makes it lose the edge though
Drifter fr knowing the taken secrets before savathun
Does anyone know what's inside the cube looking thing in The Anomaly pvp map?
Hive worm?
We donât know
It was a pyramid artifact pretty sure
The thing that told Clovis to go to Europa for clarity
But thereâs something worse than the Vex involved, isnât there? The secret youâve been keeping from me. The breakthrough that you were promised after your visit to the K1 anomaly.
^ Elsie trying to convince Clovis in the logbook
just saw a video basically saying that the witness is shown as being as big as the eiffell tower in-game which is absolutely terrifying
even taller i would say
the Witness made itself a part of its own monolith while it was trying to do the final shape
are we evil for killing endless hordes of thralls since they are more or less Hive children?
No

What an amazing Cinematic
I love who the witness say's to the traveler "be free
I just noticed this in the city
is that... new or was this foreshadowing?
Itâs been a thing since Destiny 1, so neither
Is there a lore reason for the spinning platforms
Lol, well is there?
Oh yeah it's actually pretty complicated
So basically it's sick as fuck
Real
what happened between destiny 1 and destiny 2? were the taken still around? who led them?
The witness and xivu could command the taken
ohh
Savathun could as well I believe but she didn't want too
Iâm pretty sure it was SavathĂ»n for ages through Quria
It was Savathûn after all who orchestrated the Endless Night in Splicer
Who wanna talk about exotic designs, like how worldline zero is fallen themed
i thought it was a vex sword, hence the vex teleportation effect when you do a heavy attack
i was so hype to get dregs promise in lord of wolves
lol
house of wolves*
lord of wolves was broken
Paragon revoked

Unironically though, particle effects combined with the structure of the sword itself (plus the Elsie lore tab)
Nothing about it is fallen
One day
Both look fallen to me
Itâs got the fidget spinner mag and everything
Sentenced to 3 hours of sorting by new on r/destinythegame

And there is a triangle in it and our helper âghostâ as well.
ghost mentioned đŁïž đ„
Oh by the way with echoes , are we on a route to get vex with paracausal abilities maybe what do you all think
He did the final shape in a moments but he step out, but off course we would win but that was close
mabye in some way
Naur
chat does zavala have a jucie gyatt
I quite literally have no idea what that sentence means.
gyatt means big booty
Begone from my lore channel
alr mb
đ
So is this like a monument to Rhulkâs pants or something
what brand of pant does rhulk wear
Probably made from skinned Lubraen pets
Omg

nah im thinking its to his kicks
Witness issued pants
The Neomuni can leave the cloudark right?
They sure can
thanks
We ever really got an answer how their digital bodies work anyway?
what would the witness do if the final shape was successful and everything was frozen and still? i feel like theyâd get bored, what is there to do after that? serious question, i keep thinking about it
i was wondering if it was also effected by it
or can it just move around freely when its active
Do the same thing Thanos did after Infinity War
Chill out
i never watched infinity war lol
The point is that with the Final Shape complete there no longer is anything to do
No more birth
No more death
Perfect stillness
that part makes sense, would the witness become still too?
Not sure if id also use the final shape itself or just rest
It is mentioned by the deserters that they are put into the statues until they can be reintigrated into the final shape so thats definitely something they want to do
Who knows maybe after the Final Shape is properly secured the Witness would also use it on themselves
Actually fully killing the universe
let me cook
Bro this is not Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order
Bungie will drop everything and put all their manpower into making unrelated armor, definitely
also why is this in lore chat
only place I could find to send the picture
bro I donât care I want my hunter poncho
Goat
What is the lore of Ruinous Effigy?
Just the plot of Arrivals
We get it at the start and thatâs that
Witness sending us shit while Savathun tries blocking the signal
What happened in Arrivals? And when was that?
This might be a very dumb question that would trigger anyone here, but... Is everyone allowed to have Ghosts (civilians included)? Or is it only reserved to guardians, the vanguard and pretty much the other characters?
Final season for the Shadowkeep year
Pyramids come in and steal the planets
Witness sends us messages and Savathun tries blocking the signal
Youâre misunderstanding the process
A ghost has to find a corpse that they can link to the light and then resurrects them
The person has to be definitively dead
There is no application or recruitment process
They just go out and try to find their âoneâ
So... That means
The ghost is what makes someone a âguardianâ
Theyâre what brings them back to life, lets them use their powers, etc
Although Guardian is a title given to the group that specifically decides to use those powers for the good of humanity
You could very easily just be a selfish and destructive person with them
Just look at Savathun
Yeah..
So anyone can have their own ghosts, even if they can't fight at all?
the person that lived their life and died is gone
when a ghost resurrects someone, theyâre a blank slate
Wait, I think also remember in a post on Bungie official site that if they're brought back, their memories are deleted... Don't know if it's true
It is, definitively
Itâs an established fact regularly brought up everywhere
Again, look at Savathun
Damn...
She lost her memories but also knew to record herself messages ahead of time to immediately get caught back up
Itâs also shown with Crow, Ana Bray, Cayde, Zavala, Micah, etc
So itâs not like âyouâ get the ghost after you die
I see
What is Ruinous Effigy made of?
But thanks for the answer, I hope I didn't awoken the wrath of... T H E N E R D S
tree of silver wing material
literally just a hunk of what you could liken to wood
All you need to know about it is in the loretab
From the many wings of ruin blows a wind that will reshape this dead world.
â
"That's not right."
Banshee-44 taps a spectral analyzer against the Effigy's frame.
Commander Zavala turns, closes the lid on a small golden weapon case, and walks to Banshee's side. "What have you found?"
"Well, it's not petrified wood, but it is organic."
"That's tro...
Literally the only information on the gun is in the lore tab
Itâs not plot relevant
The monolith of the witness seems to be built off a tree of silver wings
The verity encounter is in the heart of that
I don't understand why there is a Raid where we fight Riven, but we helped her I think in the season of the wish. I don't really know the lore so that might explain the confusion
The raid took place first. Years beforehand.
Riven was Taken by Oryx and had been at the heart of the Dreaming City infection
Ohhh
It was her death that began the Curse cycle of the City
Mara Sov and the Techeuns summoned Riven's spirit in Season of the Wish because we needed a Wish to enter the Pale Heart
Riven's deal to preform the Wish was to get her egg clutch back. In the meantime, we also had to purge the lair of various horrible goblins, and protect the eggs we had already claimed back.
Some were anyway yeah
some were intercepted
Had to keep them out of Drifter's frypan
also they weren't in the lair until the right time too
Angry birds type shi
I get it now, thx
Ik it might not be real but I just found a funny lore bout ezlibeth
you mean Elsie?
not really
Itâs just two Exos complaining that Elsie got her exo body built exactly the same size as her human one, whereas everyone else has standard stock frames
did we ever see her human body
closest we got was a picture of her and Ana when they were kids
even then it's not a very detailed one
could an exo like "repaint" themselves as in change the colour of their metal and maybe eyes?
We don't know exactly how much of an Exo can be changed or swapped out or such
But I'd hazard to guess yes
awsome
i feel bad for chaning the eye colour and what not if there is no lore reason
Hypothetically you'd just be swapping a bulb out
It's just that Exo are stupendously complex so Last City techs can only do so much
Though who knows what records the Neomuni have lying around
Laying, even
I don't even think they had exos ever since the Veil's radiation killed them off
(and when Chioma kicked Lakshmi out)
so I'm not sure if Neomuna really has any viable records pertaining to Exos
other than whatever Veil stuff Maya was doing
even then that stuff had to have been buried by Chioma
They may simply have relevant Golden Age records
Apparently this bird of light has always existed!??
I thought it was just introduced in tfs
it first appeared in a cutscene that played in the Red War campaign
after Ghaul kicked us off of his ship
fun fact, we survived that fall even without our Light
Yeah I wanted to see the speaker say the line so I decided to watch a red war movie
the impact even left a crater
christ?!?
Guardians are tougher than you think
This makes me think
What if we're the next speaker? We keep seeing damned visions n shit
And the first one we were even asleep lmao
the hawk would then be referenced again early on in Forsaken when we collect "visions of Light" which take the form of its feathers
hoh
which is what led to us unlocking the first "middle tree"
Middle tree?
this was before subclass 3.0
the subclasses had three different "trees" to select (third one came with Forsaken)
it was... rather limiting
for example
say you wanted to use Throwing Hammer on Sunbreaker, you would have to use the middle tree (which was the one intriduced in Forsaken)
Less trees and more forks
Bruh
There was only one path and grenade/class ability/jump
Always how have I never heard this version of journey with the drums
however, that means you were forced to use Burning Maul as your super
Your melee was limited to your tree too
that too
god
but I don't think Grenade was
Grenade wasn't but there were only 3 grenades per class
though back then each class had a specific selection of Grenades for each subclass they can use
Yeah
Stasis was the first subclass to introduce the Fragment/Aspect system
Wonder how long until Bungie realizes they can profit off of people like me wanting to play the first bit of d2
then throughout the year of Witch Queen, we gradually got the Light Subclasses updated with the same system as Stasis
you should realize that Y1 of D2 was not well regarded
I know this. I simply want to play the campaigns
then I do share that sentiment
Red War had some banger missions
anyways, as I was saying
so after Forsaken, the Hawk would appear again in Season of the Hunt which was the start of Y4 (Beyond Light)
where it would guide Crow and us
Feel like warlocks are being heavily favored by the traveler right now
it would be the main focus of the Hawkmoon exotic quest
As they should be /j
it had a quest??
yep
what the fuck
would be nice for them to add Harbinger to the exotic mission rotator and make it craftable
I wonder if they will make a new version of the Radiant Accipiter should they reprise the mission
I remember when I had to solo it to get a lore page
back when Lament and Stasis shredded through any elemental shield even on Match Game (back when Match Game was a thing)
Harbinger is us going through an alternate part of the Reservoir in the EDZ and then a cave that was linked to the Hallowed Grove lost sector
it's basically an altered version of the Hawkmoon quest mission
which gave us random rolled versions of the gun
I like how exotics are barely exotic
I understand it's fundamental for gameplay but it's funny
barely exotic how?
Everyone has one. If someone had an exotic before we did, well we got it.
Also holy fuck that is the single fanciest sounding cabal I will ever hear
Who voiced that mf (I'm getting a picture)
Consul?
No clue
yeah Consul
google says some bloke named Frank Langella
fuck that guy
Heh council
back in D1 Bungie released an ad for their upcoming The Dark Below DLC where a player named DrCrispy93 was going over some new loot being added with it
DrCrispy93 has seen what waits for you in The Dark Below. Heâs back with some sick new loot and stories to tell.

Ah, Crota
the helmet he's wearing can be seen on Consul's necklace so we are led to believe he was killed by him
NO
Why were they so extra in the speakers containment lmao đ
I'm also assuming speaker with a guardian
I'm pretty sure Speaker wasn't a Guardian
Ghosts just liked to follow him
because of his ability to recieve visions from the Traveler
Hm. Cool.
And tyra was the og cryptarch?
Learning a lot rn
DEN FATHER ?!?
also, while they don't show this ingame,
The storyboards for a certain scene show ||Consul stabbing Speaker with a blade before releasing him||
Tyra was the cryptarch for Felwinter's Peak
Rahool was always the first Cryptarch
the one for the Tower
then we got Ives who was in the vestian Outpost (but then he got killed by a Fallen guy and we had to avenge his death which was the plot of the Thunderlord quest)
D1 had a total of three social spaces
THUNDALORD (poor ives[never heard of em])
Tower
Vestian Outpost
Felwinter Peak
not a lot of people probably knew that Thunderlord was first gained through a quest which it was brought back in D2
who?
Why was he strung up in egregore?
oh Katabasis
yeah we had an entire lore book and a few lore tabs following him
basically he was loyal to Calus
he also had severe PTSD from the Red War which made him addicted to gaining power so he wouldn't be left powerless again
Fair
He probably abused his ghost to make sure the ghost could never leave him or anything of the sort
well what really happened was that his Ghost grew tired of him and gave him an ultimatum
hoh
either Katabasis kills him, or he would let the Scorn tear him apart and keep rezzing him over and over again until he did
turns out Gilgamesh kinda lost his mind a bit due to the Crown of Sorrow
after that the Scorn likely dragged him there
Also, I thinks it's funny that the darkness brings life too, though only egregore
Darkness isn't really death
it's linked to consciousness
the darkness is mind and light is matter, no?
Light is described as the physical domain
Yeah
What is the relationship between Hawthorne and Devrim?
..and why does Hawthorne seem condescending towards guardians? I can't really tell if she's joking
He's her adoptive father.
Aye
Also, joking about what?
And I guess nvm about the second one. Turns out she felt abandoned since guardians dipped to titan
just part of her character
she's usually been skeptical of the City
never really liked living in it
though of course the events of the Red War campaign did convince her to go back
shes probably an atheist lol
since she doesnt have a ghost
does a human change their name when they get turned into an exo or was saint blessed with a cool ass name?
Not all Guardians worship the traveler
I don't think atheism can apply when the God is both a machine and also right fuckin there
So some Guardians would be atheists too
Not all believe the traveler is a god
Let alone worship it
Zavala doesn't
Not anymore
It's a sentient machine-ball
Correct
let me put it like this.. the traveller is kinda like a god. and he just let a bunch of people die in the last city. that might have made hawthorne an atheist
I want to know though
Was the sentience recently developed due to the addition of darkness
Sapient, even
she
No
sorry for misgendering the traveller
It is he closest we have to a genuinely real god
The
The
I wish eris was here rn..
jesus ball
âđ
But not everyone is fully aware of the traveler effectively being the Gardener
And not everyone believes it to be a god
I swear one of the visions of the traveler said the traveler was kinda freaked out by its sudden gain of memory n shit
It showed someone a vision of its time with the precursors
It's feelings at the time
No I meant the literal visions of the traveler lmao
It's always been sapient
The TFS collectables
That's the one im talking about
in my head thats unconfirmed. its more like the witness is to the winnower
As of recently it's been very very heavily supported
What the fuk is the gardener
One of the 2 gods of creation
the light, basically
the gardener represents light and the winnower represents darkness
With the fucking winnower giving us a email after the witness' death
in the lore books they talk about these characters like they're biblical figures
i like the story about how they sparted
Lolmao
sparred*
Winnower is so chill tho
The winnower believes itself to be the ultimate inevitable truth
So it doesn't so anything
Because it's inevitable
Why influence it?
that's so metal
I know it won't happen but I really wish that when we do inevitably fight the winnower that bro just says "damn fuck off my ass bruh"
It also effectively said the witness was so infinitely cringe it didn't even deserve the right to think
That was kinda cool
Oh hell yeah winnower you da best
I want to know things about the deep and the taken and shit
Never forget
does a human change their name when they get turned into an exo or was saint blessed with a cool ass name?
that isn't really quite explained I think
it's mostly that that the Exo adopts their old name
so the latter seems a lot more likely
hmm
For my headcannon, braytech analyzes their memories/programming and assigns them a name that fits
im wondering, Kitharodes, Choral Mind appears in two of the three boss encounters of breach executable, do you think its a rank/title of hydras considering we kill it multiple times and it always spawns in pairs or is it just coincidentally several hydras named the same thing?
it is often bosses with the same name
I mean tbh he might have just been called "John Saint" when he was human
And instead of becoming John-1 which probably already existed it was switched to his last name
Damn
That or Clovis knew he literally created the Exo Christ
Wonder if Saint was just a religious Russian man, then after revival he kept the saintly title
I doubt it
Saint can be a normal first name so

At least I think so from a cursory Google search
True aswell
failsafe is too cool to be on the helm only
they gotta make an exo for failsafe
is that possible in lore
You gotta remember itâs golden age names
Not going to be 1:1 with whatâs ânormalâ now
we did do it with Rasputin so given enough time

Well we tried
yeah and made good progress but never finished due to well obvious reasons
(he fucking died)

I donât think Saladin was too shaken up by it
likly not
episode 2 better be about failsafe getting a new exo body
Bro was more crushed by the fact that the traveler started to bail
and getting all dripped out
Episode 2 is about Fikrul and the Scorn and shit
i doubt that will happend
and you mean act 2?
oh it is?
i didnt think we got any info about the upcoming episode
we did
We did
did you miss that vid?
im hoping act 2 or 3 will cover that
For one thereâs literally an infographic with pictures for all of them
i didnt even know it existed lmao
And 2 bungie talked about it in the stream
Weâve known the themes for like over a year, and they elaborated on them more recently too
There was a big preview videos yeah
not Failsafe getting a body XD
we got more important stuff
đ
also yeah I really donât think thatâs going to be on the cards
The third episode for example is Hive themed and will see the return of the Dreadnaught in some capacity
they could cover it on the side
i hope we get a new partrol zone in some way in either of the two next episodes
but that might be too many on the map
Are most of house dusk fallen after final shape just criminals, pirates and insane/warmongering fallen?
given the more peace seeking fallen likly have joined house light at this point
Thatâs all house of dusk is, aside from warmongers
Theyâre literally just stealing shit to survive
Salvation is actively seeking out our death and destruction
Dusk just want to be greedy and we get in the way sometimes
yeah, millions of Fallen that remain stuck in those ways
Has anyone clipped that line where she says the word âcabooseâ
I canât find it anywhere and feel like I hallucinated it
Find and breach the Vex data nodes.
**
Failsafe: Heads up, fireteam. Scans are showing a geothermic surge near you. Also, it's shaking my shattered caboose.
Saint-14: The Vex will be waiting. Break them, and claim the data they've brought us.

I love this interaction between failsafe and saint unit. Saint is such a titan lol
freakysafe
WKDJDHDJJDJSHF
Google just tells me... train cart, what the hell is caboose
Oh no
Itâs the rear end of something
like, of a train cart?
In a train thatâs the last car
Failsafe is using it in replacement of ass
oh
Are you a native English speaker?
I am not
Neat
Anyway yeah people use it as slang for their rear ends because theyâre the ends of trains
Failsafe is just being failsafe
Oh god i used to have a online friend who called themselves caboose all the time
This explains a lot of things in hindsight
Failsafe made a bum joke
Literally took me like a full minute to recover from hearing that the first time
I love you so much
am i really stupid or is the campaign witness boss fight area the same as the black garden one in vanilla d1
(im really stupid either way but shhh)
??
Donât see it
It could poetically be similar
The black garden room was literally already just reused for the epilogue of season of the wish
so Iâm willing to bet no
i figured its not the same place but like when i was doing it the place felt similar ish so i guess they just reused the general area yeah
Ok hear me out,
Go look at the boss arena in the Phobos mission back on taken king
Oh and proving grounds final room too I guess
Huh
The boss is just another taken knight, but it is an arena
Was just talking about arenas, theyâll have a pattern
The pattern is donât stand under the jet engines
Jet engines?
That was part of the arena in the mission
They activate the jet engines that are inside a closed room for some reason
And also poison just pumps out of the vents
yeah no im looking at black garden fight it just had similarish locations for the areas to hide behind nvm
Whos speaking in the microcosm lore? Because it both sounds like it could be the traveler itself or it could be someone narrating it's terraforming, which makes me think it could be the winnower.
It's seems to be talking about Mars when humans first discovered it.
why is this still in edz
Why would it be anywhere else
didnt the traveler rebuild or is this the part from the bottom thats missing
this part of the traveler
cuz idk i skipped a lot of lore
Itâs not missing
i started in season of osiris and came back in season of defiance
It was cast off intentionally because it was infected
ahh
infected with what?
The healing was just putting itself back together when this happened
The EDZ shard came off a long time ago because it was tainted with darkness
ah
So what does the existence of the winnower mean for us?
Means the next big bad is all but guaranteed
why has no one destroyed the veil if its the soruce of all darkness
How would someone do that?
idk nuke it or something
have ball boy blast a beam of friendship
Uh huh
few things
- Darkness =/= evil
- No Veil means pretty much all of the Neomuni are killed
have them move to earth
they are in the CloudARK
also, Neomuni people are bitchmade so it would be hard to convince them to get out of it
Why would we?
I don't think it'll be as simple as that. I don't think it'll be an enemy we face. I think it just... is. It exists.
Lack of incentive to do so
With what
If its any similar to the Traveler we couldn't scratch it if we had Rasputins full arsenal much less whatever we can scrounge now
How is âdestroyingâ not incentive?
Oh hello orange
â€ïž
Why the fuck are we ronin now?? What does this have to do with failsafe đ
Episode: Revenant Titan:
Episode: Heresy Titan:
What?? No!!!
Good god I pray they change that
I want my titan to be eris morn, too yk
I think there will be the Eris Morn sets alongside these ones
Still doesn't explain why we're ronin
At least this one looks like a monster hunter
Titans just running around looking like Vampire Splicer D
Who is the Herald of Finnality supposed to be
probably a unique Dread made from a Taken Captain
Makes sense
ok so the dread. do they have better explanation in the lore
what I remember from campaign is âthey must be what remains of a civilization the witness conqueredâ or something
Clones, and using the Travelers light to make them manifest as a last line of defense for the Witness
Chat I need a completely 100% accurate part 2 to this
