Crota’s symbol
(Meant same role)
Like, crotas plates have his symbol and oryx has his
Actually what is the plate symbol for oryx again?
Kill it with a wooden stake
Oh that also uses part of the crota
Quria dead
savathun kinda expected us to wipe the floor with quria, just not as quick as we did
or, so we think.
Savathun is strange in some ways but others not so much she did technically help us
But idk why
what, in season of the wish?
Ya
well, because if we dont stop the witness
the universe fucking ends
and savathun kinda lives in the universe
it doesnt really end, just that it gets warped and shaped into a balaced final shape that's a perfect image in the witness' eyes
Which is the end of all life and all death
complete, true stagnation
It's effectively the same thing
Huh?
Thats what the final shape is
no more life, no more death
no more suffering because there's nothing to suffer
nothing to die because nothing will live.
It’s like how Immaru put it
The Witness’ Final Shape more specifically, but yes not a great outcome
What I hope when or if we beat the witness will the witness race be back again and we have to fight them like the great hunt
Alternative Dialogue from the seasonal activity Altars of Summoning during Season of the Witch.
**
Immaru: The final shape, the way we think about it? It's the winner, the one who's so smart or strong that they beat everybody else. The final shape may not be the most interesting or best looking or whatever, but it's the one who makes it to th...
They’re all dead, that’s how they even formed the Witness
Man
That sucks
I always wondered what would happen if they got revived
Maybe like a Great War
Are the star cats you find in the dreaming city related to the star horse?
I don’t think there’s any lore to them so
We don’t know
Starhorse barely factors into the lore itself

4 horseman???!?!?!?!?!???
Didn't we kill Riven? Why are we working together?
She's still dead
Necessity
Ahamkara persist after death and we needed her help to chase after the Witness
We needed the power of an Ahamkara to follow the Witness. Riven negotiated so that we’d help her first by securing and protecting what remained of her clutch
And... who made the deal with Riven? I don't know these characters except osiris
Mara specifically, if you’re referring to the deal to find her eggs
Why is Mara important?
She’s the queen of the Awoken and an incredibly important ally
She raised Riven basically
She’s the Queen of the Awoken and the one who created the Dreaming City alongside Riven
So the two have a history?
Yep
Aye, seeking to impress his sister Uldren brought Mara an Ahamkara, which was Riven
And Mara participated in the Great Hunt so she would have the only Ahamkara, ensuring she would have a unique and useful power
And why did we kill Riven if Riven was an "ally" to Mara?
Well, she wasn’t when we killed her
Mara was “dead” and Oryx, the Taken King Took Riven
A while later, Riven was working with Savathûn instead
Riven was closely tied to the Forsaken campaign and manipulated Uldren Sov, Mara’s brother into doing some bad shit
We find out and we kill her in the Last Wish raid
Aye, during the Taken War she was partially Taken by Oryx and was partly responsible for the Taken corruption of the Dreaming City, and she was the antagonist for the events of Forsaken.
That being said, even when Riven was an “ally” to Mara, it’s still a complicated relationship. Ahamkara are by nature manipulative and duplicitous and self-serving
(Except Taranis)
They feed on the differential change that occurs in universe when they grant a wish- The bigger the change, the more they can eat
Which is why they monkey paw wishes, so there’s more for them to feed on
I have zero context for this statement but i think you gotta be alive to be killed yeah
That’s not what I said lmao
paragon revoked go back to purple
Wait before this season we actually hear Riven voice or
Nah
Even in final cutscene after the raid she uses other voice?
Shes not in the final cutscene because thats after the raid, because shes dead
They probably didn’t have a voice actor for riven because of her ability to change voices, they gave her a unique voice to make sure you could tell it was her speaking
Mostly dead
And as I said
"Mostly dead is slightly alive"
She used the voices of people we know because she knows it fucks with people.
During the events of the Season of the Wish she uses her actual voice
Yo why Mara sacrifice herself and everyone at the start of taken king
You don’t say captain obvious
what are the taken
I saw that cutscene long time ago and was really confused
She was trying to stop Oryx. When she realized she couldn't it was too late. It wasn't a sacrifice so much as she just couldn't stop Oryx and lost.
She did give us a decent understanding of the Dreadnoughts superweapon from the fight
Just rewatched that cutscene, how is that a sacrifice
@raw hazel I need help explaining. I can't figure put the right words to use
Aye so reed n the gang are basically the box legndaries of destiny
..and they were never even NPCs?? Crazy
Who?
Not really
They mostly wore Trials armour in their lore
But the CGI cutscene uses actual character models and not game models or something
And they already had those models
Reed, Aisha and Shayura don’t actually have anything to do with Destiny 1 in the way you’re suggesting
Pretty sure the entire reason they aren’t characters is because they are stand ins for the main player and their fireteam
Yes they exist, but they aren’t really meant to be characters that we need to connect to
Didn't remember the scene correctly but it came to my mind now
Its just mara fighting off oryx and losing
She made Oryx use his weapon and halted him at Saturn
I don't mean as legendary heroes, I get they're just another gang of guardians doin their thing, but apparently they were in more than just the lightfall trailer..? Idk I'm just goin off of assumptions
Otherwise he would have continued through our Solar System further
I never played taken king I just watched the cutscene quickly thats all
Still then, its less of a sacrifice and more of an actual attempt at victory
Also
I keep hearing about shaxx and mara and I'm confused, and concerned based off of what I'm assuming
Please someone clarify
This is gnawing at me
They hung out once and talked about Mara’s partner Sjur Eido, who they both had known individually before her disappearance/death
Oh ok
Mara wanted Shaxx to read from some Awoken book but he said “fuck that, you can’t tell me what to do” and recited Shakespeare off by heart instead
Naturally
Significantly more pg than what I had assumed
No she gave him a copy of Tempest and told him to read it. His response was chad tier.
"No one tells me what to do," he said, grabbing the book and incinerating it in a bolt of Striker lightning. "I can recite The Tempest by heart." And he did. Mara sat and listened. They stayed for a long time.
The helmet stayed on
Does that actually specify the book as being The Tempest?
Yes

Mara slapped the mug out of his hand. It shattered on the floor. She shoved a weathered book in his face. "I told you there would come a time when I collect for the Reef Wars. Read this. Out loud."
It’s an unnamed “weathered book”
It's implied that it was Tempest
Anyway we can confirm Shaxx is a
The implication suggests it's the Tempest
Which means he incinerated an ancient centuries old relic
Ah
This whole time I’ve just interpreted it as Shaxx just randomly wanting to like share his special interest or something lmao
Id like to imagine that shaxx incinerated some random ass book she gave him and, essentially said "fuck you, wench! I can recite The Tempest by heart!" And so he did.
Nah the version where he destroys ancient relic is better
Funny Darkness blokes
But in all seriousness they’re individuals who are Taken, and then whittled down by the Witness into their “perfect” selves- End result is they become mindless, Darkness-infused beings typically devoid of individual will that serve at the behest of a stronger controlling will.
Blep, the reply borked
oke
My brain is fried from work right now and couldn't figure out the right way to word that
do we know who the astronouts on mars are from the cutscsene when you first start d2?
nice
Do you want the lore that shows their preparation for the mission?
It’s pretty interesting imo
And cool to see lore of pre-Golden Age humanity
Mihaylova was the one who made Rasputin
there was also a 4th person with them named Evie Calamut, but she died on the way to Mars
Probaly yeah
I believe this orders all those armour lore pieces
You can ignore the Micah letters
Evie died in an incident involving a fire and a wet staircase the day of the launch so the launch had to be delayed another day
(An incident definitely not related to Mihaylova and R)
I feel so terrible for Evie
did the witness use the veil to create itself?
Essentially yes
Favourite cutscene ever
"Having witnessed the truth in the Darkness, they used its binding power to merge themselves into the salvation they craved."
i think that says it pretty clearly, they used Darkness to create the Witness
seraph finale
but the witness origin is probably like top 5 or even top 3
do we know why the veil is in Sol?
It was brought here to bind to the Traveler.
And then Savathûn caused some shenanigans.
is it ever explained why or how it was brought here in the first place?
did it do it itself?
I imagine that was the Black Fleet bringing it here during the Collapse. Savathûn's shenanigans involved killing Nezarec and hiding the Veil on Neptune.
that actually makes sense, since the precursors originally found the veil, so the witness wouldve kept it for that whole time until savathun stole it and put it on neptune
savathun the real mvp
Shockingly, yeah
lets call em the witnesses
yeah
They're referred to as Precursors in Entelechy
Damn
the witness is the ultimate doomer, thats like the dude's entire point of existence
side note: Lightfall is obviously deeply flawed narratively, but i loved the cutscene where ol' witness gets actually mad at Calus. It feels so weird seeing a being so eldtritch and beyond us feel any ounce of human-like emotion
and then it also gets angry at the end of the newest trailer of course
i hope the writers havent overdone that aspect of its character with final shape tho
it should be something to be used very sparingly
I'm going to punch the witness in his big fugly eye
Yeah specifically the left one
How many Precursors formed to become the witness

Any guesses
If we estimate the planet is the size of earth and is more advanced than earth, that may entail a larger population - so I would estimate between 7 and 9 billion
Except they're also an interstellar species
And, no
What do we already know about the planet and the species? Not much I presume
That'd be the titular RS6243199
just rolls of the tongue doesn't it
I instead dubbed RS6243199 and HN W047622 as Rose and Henwy
This is peak Mael
They were terraforming worlds using devices imbued/fuelled/designed after the Light and observing/watching/uplifting species, like lil' Traveler's but significantly more snotty about it.
Bro stop talking like the Noesis
Who’s RS6243199 and HNW047622
Are they still here today
Precursors
One joined the others and became the Witness
The other... well, nobody knows.
Were there people who opposed to form together to become the witness?
Like didn’t want to
Idk
One guy didn’t
You see a bunch of mutilated corpses in the cutscene - maybe not willing?
Wow only one person
Other people may have refused - but got yoinked just the same
Do we know who led the Precursors?
Like their leader
I think its said that a subset of the precursors decided to become the witness, and went on a crusade killing those who wouldnt be part of it
The uh, Consensus. A collective.
Not to be confused with the Consensus that leads the Last City.
The only precursor left is RS
Assuming they're still alive
Which is possible cuz it seems like they are immortal, or just live very long
Even as I say those words, I feel the old doubts crawling through my thoughts again. But it has been long, and longer still, since you renounced the Consensus and set off into the cosmos. You have not seen the violence that visited our shores; a terrible reflection of that ancient history, which we believed was behind us. Though we were steadfast in our position and would have continued to argue it, however long it might take... there were dangerous elements. Subversives and defectors. We did not strike first! Nor did we choose our response lightly.
It had been so long since I wielded pruning shears; I had forgotten how. My hands shook. I could only imagine how you would have looked at me. But it is over now. What has been done, is done.
They were the last, and now we are all in Consensus.```
Or the consensus that you have and I don’t
normally one has to nominate you for consensus, which is then internally voted on by mods
Yeah i know
i, however, nominated myself, solely for the reason that i wanted funny lore books attached to my name
i mean, i did
Paragone
Is there any chance RS would be part of the Final Shape narrative?
Highly unlikely
I actually doubt it but yes, it's plausible
However
It was just as possible Taox would be involved with, like, any of the Hive gods, and look where that went
Where did that go?
except for a minor implied connection to the OXA, but
that also hasn't yet gone anywhere
Also, idk if this matters but "RS-17 numbers" isnt really a good name for a character that would be mainstream yknow
I have a theory that Nezarec was originally a Psion. Mael, prove me wrong.
this is why i named RS6243199 and HN W047622 as Rose and Henwy
i just knee'd my desk
ow
Ouch
Ow
Get well soon
Wait a minute, was the dreaming city shown off before Forsaken released?
Not that I’m aware of
Is the dreaming city Mara’s throne world
No
Or is it the shattered throne
ST
That'd be the Shattered Throne, Eleusinia.
Yes
Big outlandish dumbass prediction time, The Dark Heart of the Veil will be the secret second location of TFS

Pale heart is meant to be an opposite to the black heart AFAIK
Ohhhh
Firstly, it's a Throne World, so it's in the Ascendant Plane.
Secondly, Oryx... Shattered it.
Makes sense
Not really, no.
The... hang on
where's my microphone you're getting Mael Voice
Byf?
Where does Oryx come into play with Mara and Riven
Wasnt the black heart the vex's attempt to recreate the veil or am i completely wrong
Ik they have some correlation but im not sure
Mael my iPad can’t run mp3 files
...it's one of the most common audio files
I can’t be bothered to get my laptop
Oryx Took Riven, killed Mara, invaded the Dreaming City, and Shattered her Throne.
Good explanation, thanks
To Mercury we go!

Oh wow
That’s pretty harsh
Why’d he do that
Just to gain more power?
he’s oryx

the hive kill
Mael it works now I think
why did the... he's Hive
Oh ye
What about my nezarec psion theory?
The logic
This is like their whole thing
she also personally pulled up the majority of her fleet to face him
so he took it kinda personally
Nimbus: Hang on, did it just say ""Psions""? Maybe it IS on the Shadow Legion's side.
Nezarec: I'll make sure you do.
Nimbus: ... Or maybe not."```
It's possible he's connected biologically, yes. Or at least, he once ruled them.
Mael is Byf confirmed?
who's Byf
You
Discord lore channel users when youtube lore channel
So my half joke theory of a Black Heart destination isnt too outlandish then, right? Ah who am i kidding, yes it is
Or is it?
The Traveler has a far stronger connection to the physical than the Darkness or Veil does. So, I doubt it.
True
the black heart is not only a limited copy of the veil, it’s also dead
I meant the REAL black heart of the veil
the veil is just the veil
it doesn’t have an outer shell and an inside like the traveler
Ok
pale heart/black heart aren’t exactly meant to be opposites either
the black heart was just a thing in the black garden
the pale heart is an actual place
and also a phrase used to describe cowardice and inaction
Hmm
Almost like those are character traits of the traveler

But besides, bungie have said that the pale heart is a very linear destination specificially designed for the campaign, so im wondering if there'll be a post campaign destination thats more open
Probably not tho
They said that?
yes
Oh cool
Apologies for my lack of knowledge on things btw
This game has a lot to follow
that it does
With the new episodic format, i wonder where itll be on the continuum of seasons to something more like Dark Below or House of Wolves
Like how will the narratives work specifically
It being split up into acts makes me optimistic that therell be some sort of significant story moment/mission at least each act
And with the episodes seeming like they will maybe wrap up the loose ends post final shape, you cant help but wonder where bungie goes next
Apology not accepted 😤

I cant tell if it would be lame or cool if the next saga is a prequel
Cuz tfs seems to have such, well, finality yknow
How would they go beyond that
Vex
But the first episode is about the vex
Not saying itll be the end of that story, but it might
Actually thats a cool idea, saga 2 is time travel
Then it can be a sort of prequel while still allowing us to keep our newer abilities
And future too of course
more likely than not it’s going to be about Ishtar more than the actual vex
The 227, to be precise
despite all their complexity vex have never been the forefront of narratives
I mean
mostly about Osiris and Ikora
The vex were never an immediate threat
the vex were just there doing vex things
Unlike the 4 other factions
the plot was about getting Sagira back to Osiris
The vex are also not really a character, theyre just milk robots
Curse of Osiris's big threat was "They found out a way to be evil a few centuries into the future!!!"
incredible
I don't even remember what CoO plit wS
Mercury has the best cpu in the universe
Mercury and Io are the only celestial bodies that are still currently taken by the witness, right?
correct
We know more or less why it took Mars and Titan, but why those other two? (besides DCV
)
Well, Io was a sacred place to the Guardians due to the half-terraformed world, the Cradle, and the innate energy of the Traveler still flooding the lifeblood of the world.
True true
Also, Asher theorised it wanted to access the Pyramidian
As for Mercury, likely a similar concept - the Infinite Forest, locked from the inside by Brother Vance
Can an Exo recognize the faces they see in the long, slow whisper? Ex, if someone they knew in the Golden Age was resurrected as a Guardian and they know the Guardian, would they be able to tell it’s the same face in their dreams?
Often I kill people I don't know, but like most of us I think I knew them once, in the time before one reset or another, when my mind was younger and less terribly scarred.```
Everyone as in truly everyone then
Huh that’s neat
Why did Osiris get exiled from the Last City?
for completely neglecting his job and allowing a literal cult in his name to spring up and begin protesting and rioting and prophesising his doomsday rants about the Vex
job as the Vanguard Commander by the way
What's the context of Osiris on D1
basically just that
he was ex vanguard exiled for his radical ideology
and also the cult
And even being exiled Vanguard just let Trials Of Osiris happen?
Oh
He went into the Infinite Forest iirc
Is he still alive
Not sure but likely not
His voice actor has passed since so if Bungie did particularly want to bring back Vance, they’d have to recast
Rip
Wait Vance’s voice actor passed away? The fuck?
a while ago
Damn
Open it in Notes and you can play the audio file
NOO MY REPLY
Bozo
Anybody know the lore behind that
How is this lore related
It’s whatever
Nah, just conspiracy
astral5175 muted.

Thanks Alex
Anyways, back to being dead chat
The witness got bamboozled
opening my window for the first time in 48 hours
You missed out on an atrocity that happened a few minutes ago
This is the kind of things that make me be on witness side
Let them restart the fucking universe, I will be happy as long as they erase that from existence

they’re not restarting it
they’re just stopping it
Winning a game of chess by eating the pieces
putting the whole table in resin
Like Immaru says, it’d be like winning a game by turning it off. Nothing would ever change, it would forever be the same.
Damn no activity?
Are House Dusk (Purple Fallen) still our enemies? Since we allied with Mithraax and Caiatl I forget which groups are still fighting the Last City other than the Hive and stuff
Dusk are those too hung up on themselves to ally with humanity, but not enough so to join salvation and actively war under the witness
they’re just thieves and pirates
Salvation are Eramis' goons right?
I thought Eramis was helping us now since she saved Mithraax and stuff
not really
it’s never going to be “I’m a good guy now and we’re friends”
she did one good deed and hasn’t done anything since
Right, I havent played any of the story since Defiance so I wasn't sure if she did more to redeem herself in the future or anything
I need to catch up
either she’s still under the witness’ thumb, or went into hiding and abandoned all of salvation (whom she lied to to even get form)
she hasn’t appeared since defiance
I see I see
you haven’t missed anything
the latest “update” is salvation being in Onslaught which indicates they’re at least still pawns of the witness
but nothing else
Well we do have that one lore tab where she ignores an opportunity to raid a passing spaceship just to get home to her wife
Her wife is dead
Not necessarily, no.
Athrys went to a different solar system.
the witness is probably telling them what to do and they can't really say no
that or the ever present threat of becoming wrathborn
although i think it'd be funny if they devolved back into the communal structure of dusk
Do the ahamkara know they are in a game? The Claws of Ahamkara exotic lore suggests it, but it seems weird if bungie just broke the fourth wall randomly like that
don't put much thought into it
Why not?
it's irrelevant
old lore
means nothing now
starhorse is essentially representative of bungie as a whole, so anything beyond that is just a cheeky reference
there have been references to "the game" but the term is used in many different contexts
the main one being the thing that unveiling describes when it comes to light and darkness
which is a metaphor
No
so just... don't question it?
they don't change old lore tabs
yes
they're just left where they are
in the past
claws of ahamkara is from warmind, barely into D2's lifespan
they had a lot to still figure out
if you want actually interesting early ahamkara lore, check this out
Plating the Ahamkara bones in silver helps to quiet the auditory hallucinations… o bearer mine.
—
Few things can see the Light, but we are not blinded.
The Bearer seeks the truth, but what separates truth from fiction is fragile.
A pair of truths and a single falsehood upon the Bearer we shall impart.
Brother, ally once more, sends his regard...
And even without changing lore tabs players still mald about retcons whenever new information gets presented
predicting the events of forsaken completely
nobody knew
We'd never know until it's retrospect
isn't it just more dreams of alpha lupi
those describe stuff from the traveler's pov in the past
Neat
I remember the lore tab of MK is just a reitteration of Unveiling kinda but not really
Partly yeah, it describes a Tree of Silver Wings as the Gardener is doing her gardening thing
did we ever get a explanation about where ahamkara came from
because they weren't in the golden age
and I don't we got a clear answer where they came from
They are evil iguanas
Not exactly, no. They're extrasolar creatures that followed the Traveler for juicy juicy wishes.
i just rewatched the seraph finale, and while its an incredible scene, i was left with one question. Why does the Witness encourage Eramis to destroy the traveler if it needs the traveler for the final shape? Am I missing something?
Perhaps the Traveler wouldn’t have been affected by it and the Witness just wanted to satiate Eramis’ revenge and trigger Xivu’s ritual?
I don’t know tbh
i mean maybe, as powerful as the warsats are, they are still ultimately causal and i doubt that they could truly destroy something like the traveler
I mean even if Traveler was indeed destroyed how would that affect final shape? Like at what level would be that destruction
or maybe it wouldve weakened the traveler enough to remove the guardians' power, making it easier for witness to work with it
idk
Maybe warsats could actually damage it enough to make the witness work easier
Yeah that
Didn't traveler was damaged and weakened before?
i mean the red legion supressed it
Yeah maybe they could get that result
Not killing but yeah goodbye light and ability to move
the traveler doesnt seem like something that can be blown up with regular old human nukes, its a literal god yknow
but it can probably be weakened by them
I mean I'm not at day with the warsats but those don't seem to be just regular human nukes
still, the point is that they still seem siginificantly less powerful than the traveler
Where did you hear that, traveler is physical being that is causal, remember red war, it can be destroyed like how ghost can be destroyed by non causal beings like fallen and cabal,
Big ball is just in another league
the light itself is paracausal and needs a something paracausal to counter it
but the light and traveler are separate things
i think its just safe to make the conclusion that while eramis thought she would've destroyed the traveler in its entirety, the witness knew better and decided to use her to weaken it instead
That’s what my assumption always was
As the Witness seems to need the Traveler at least alive for its plan
"Your Pale Heart holds the key"
That, and the Witness is a known manipulator
yeah
If it can use you as a pawn to its ends, it will do its best to do so
Or even just out of spite for the Traveler, like it did with the Hive
with the hive tho, i think the witness did that out of its strange sense of righteousness in what its doing with the philosophy of the final shape. The Light brings suffering etc
I am partly always correct
always
It was mostly out of pettiness, especially with the context provided with Entelechy
Anything the Traveler touches, the Witness will go out of its way to cause it to suffer
that makes sense, that book does show that the witness takes things very personally despite being someone of immense power
are
are you saying the traveler is not paracausal
well ghost are paracausal, but can be destroyed by causal things
Yeah even in the Witch Queen cutscene, the whole reason it duped the Hive was because the Traveler was going to go bless them
And yeah to be fair, there’s orders of magnitudes in different between Ghosts and the Traveler
The only thing that has been ever confirmed to harm it, is the Witness/its Black Fleet
In the case of the Warsats I’ve always figured it moved so the Last City wouldn’t be damaged/so it could be in position to confront the Witness
As we’ve seen it done in a few cases, like it trying to lure the Witness away from Riis, or when it moved away wreckage from the Almighty to keep it from impacting the City
right but what does this have to do with not calling the traveler paracausal
Yeah that makes no sense to me
defensive capability doesn’t matter, paracausality is just characterized by not being causal
the traveler is the prime example of it
The big lass is definitely paracausal
and also if you want to be pedantic, light as a concept has been trumped by causal means numerous times
the red legion were drilling it out of the soil on Io, and the vex engineered a mind catered to specifically drain Saint’s light
likewise, you can just punch taken to death and set up fancy lamps to incapacitate pyramid ships
the veil is also just locked in a fancy basement
The witness, a being of millions, unstoppable, controller of darkness, slain by bullets
(To be fair the ones doing the shooting are also paracausal)
guardians have magic little light fairies that bless their bullets mid flight
They clarified that they weren't calling the Traveler not paracausal, just that it could potentially get harmed with causal weaponry such as the case with Ghosts
That was what the example was supposed to illustrate
No they said the Traveler was causal
(Tho to be fair given how partly obscured lore in general is, it’s an honest mixup)
do we know of how powerfull the dare horse is?
it’s beyond the universe but also not narratively relevant at all
In loose terms, extremely so, not that it would actually do anything beyond the funny gameshow tho
it’s purely for jokes and there’s no use trying to gauge it at all
but Randal is canon
Randal on top
Oh ok, a closer reading does show that
Yesn't
The horse wishes that you traverse its wacky obstacle course
Is tech machina and veist just weapon companies?
Tex Mechanica and Veist both primarily serve as weapon foundries
ahh i see
though they do have a few other items like armor, ships, sparrows, and Ghost Shells
Is there any other weapon foundries?
Omolon, Suros
forgot about those
Omolon
Crux/Lomar
Forces of the City
Suros
Black Armory
Nadir is one that has been revealed recently
Nadir has actually been around since Rise of Iron
Crux/Lomar is the Gjallerhorn guys, right?
Hakke is the best
Gjallarhorn, Truth, and I think Dragon's Breath
Hakke as well yes
Cassoid
Forces of the City is for the more generic weapons
oh also Daito
Daito for the... Eastern-inspired stuff
For a second I read that as Datto
Same
Twin Tailed Fox and Jade Rabbit being notable examples of their wares
Astounding
for context, this is a picture of Datto
He’s killing it tbh
Bungie could easily state that Daito helped make the FOTL Mech armor sets in canon
Say Dova
Dova
Unlikely but I want at least one single instance in the campaign of every single faction excluding the couple witness sided factions going after the witnesses forces
you know I'm not quite certain
maybe an explanation on the Traveler's origins
perhaps a more in-depth look at the collapse
I'm still certain that some of the stuff in Unveiling is true though
like the Vex origins and the Tree of Silver Wings
I’d like to see some stuff on the Traveler too
I am also hoping we get see the actual Traveler ||so we can get married||
Tho I guess my biggest thing is I want it all to at least feel narratively satisfying
definitely
possibly
Ada-1 certainly doesn't
but Cayde has been seen driking in a trailer once
I mean cayde also likes noodle shops
If exos can bleed then they certainly can eat in some capacity
There is conflict with that one lore tab where an Exo says they don't need to eat/don't feel hungry anymore, but aside from an oopsie on the writers' side it could be taken as them understanding that eating is not wholly necessary to their function but still needs to be done to satisfy their subconcious
Yes and no
They still desire food and have cravings but not a standard hunger developed from a lack of nourishment
And they do eat
How are exos powered though
Like is it just infinite energy bodies
Or do they use some kind of fuel
It’s highly sustainable Clovis tech
The traveler being an extremely kind god, kinda makes a lot of sense but it just doesn't sound as interesting. Also I know how the original D1 Story has the speaker and traveler be the main secret villains who brought the darkness and confused guardians into following them
But logically it makes sense if the traveler does bless worlds out of kindness and isn't running but leading the witness away
What I am confused about is why does the traveler love humanity so much to protect time and time again, compared to other races in the past
Every piece of evidence and lore we’ve gotten over the years have painted the picture that the Traveler is genuinely caring, kind, and benevolent. It loves life, and it’s pained whenever it sees strife fall unto others
If it suddenly were revealed to be some “uber villain” at the end of the story, when the last few years of painting the Witness as the ultimate villain… Imo, that would just be very bad writing.
As for why it stayed with humanity, lemme find the entry.
Basically the Traveler was tired of running, and this is where she chose to make her stand.
Me when witness inkblot
mfw Witness
But it’s like, even then the Traveler has had plenty of opportunities to up and leave. But when the cards where down, time and again she stayed, and when it mattered she tried to fight against the Witness.
Sadly she’s just not much of a fighter herself, as powerful as it is. It’s a lifegiver.
Wasn’t that cause the whole, surrounded thing?
Not really
That’s taking what the Witness says at face value (which you should never do, the Witness is a liar and manipulator)

It loathes the Traveler, of course it’s going to take any opportunity to make her look bad, and make itself look better

(And also maybe a minor point but the Traveler is not the one committing genocides across the universe)
The Witness tries to present itself as a natural force, the lesser evil, a necessary piece of the universe-
When its precusor species were simply upset that the Traveler didn’t give them a purpose, and then it into their own hands to believe they knew what was best for the entire universe (even to the point to killing off most everyone else of their own species that disagreed with them)
Mini-rant over but just like, I’ve always never been a fan of all the “big ball bad” theories over the years as there’s no support for them besides supposed ideas for the original plot
The analogy I’ve always used is like.. There’s someone endlessly being chased by an obsessed serial killer, and instead of blaming the killer, they blame the victim
You guys never acknowledged me 😦
Am I not a lore knower?
Surely you seen me around these parts
skissue
You are in this channel, but we do not grant you the rank of lorekeeper
paragon is not a requirement silly
I mean I haven’t exactly seen you until recently
But I trust your lore knowledge just the same
What’s two plus two?

Actually, I am curious to see if I can find my first message in the server
with the raids you wont be able to
ah fuck right
I forgot about that
Still mad about that, I had some pretty primo lore rants from back in the day
im glad the lore stuff from back in my day is gone
Remember when Loonis thought we’d never get Darkness?
Hey @heavy vortex do you remember that???
(He’ll see that eventually)
||remember when i was fighting that same corner||
it was
and there was that much bullshit misinfo it seemed like the right side to fight for
which side did you fight for hally hmmmm?
I don’t want to talk about it
I think I was very “but wouldn’t it be COOL IF WE DID???” Especially since it was pushing us into the idea of safely using Darkness
It’s okay Lonis, I forgive you
When shadowkeep was released I was like “yep that’s it we get darkness soon”
what about me?
||though I will never let you forget||
BUT THE LORE DAMNIT, AN IMPOSSIBLE CONCEPT
remember when cayde was dead?
Unvaulted cayde, unvaulted weapons, next will they unvault the rest?
Pls bring back scourge
And leviathan
And wrath
I would actually love Scourge or Wrath back
Excellent raids
Wrath especially I loved all the weapons
I never got to play them
Tho I do wonder what they would do for the exotic
Yuh, the SIVA raid
What were the weapons?
This was back in D1 so they had set rolls
But each specific gun had a very fun combination
Example?
Mg
Lemme see if I can find a clip

The IF MATERIA~ raid machine gun has been making the rounds recently. Is it as good as we think it might be? Or is it, much like other Diluvians, just total infusion fodder or an instant dismantle? Also, at 11: Super Good Advice vs. Nemesis Star - does anyone even care when Sleeper Simulant is a thing? That and... well, all of those things a...
Man, D1 Datto
Shit that got me laughing
So young and full of hope
But yes, machine gun

Triple Tap and Triple Double, when TT is triggered TD pulled extra rounds from reserves into the magazine
Back in D1 it actually was pretty decent as far damage
The auto was my favorite with Focused Firefly, when precision kills when Focused Fire was active would trigger an explosion
They were all kinda gimmicky like that but, they were still pretty neat
So it does make curious on what they would do if it was brought forward- Would the traits still be unique to each weapon in their pool, would they have new perks all together?
how hard is it, physically and mentally, to become a 'capable' guardian in-lore? like obviously it's not as easy as just having a full class kit the moment you wake up and then buying skills and aspects for glimmer and equipping them all, so how long would it take to, say for example, integrate into a specific class of guardian in-lore? including all the skills and abilities you'd need to be classed under the banner. months? years?
Depends
We’re obviously something of a prodigy
Many are still learning one subclass though
Im pretty sure the best comparison would be like learning a martial art
Some have it easier
Some have it harder
Some master one and decide to learn another
Others will forever strive to perfect a single one
what are the statues that are plastered heavily around in the Dreaming City?
depends where they are
the ghost scan patrols can often provide context
They're statues that commemorate dead awoken
oh interesting
is there a tag search on ishtar? like to find pages with both “eliksni” and “season of the splicer”
wanna read entries on how they settled into the last city (like chroma rush) but don’t know which ones have that
Not sure
Ohhhhh so the precursors tried to make the portal to the pale heart before the traveler left?
Did it leave because it knew they would bring about the final shape?
Most of the splicer weapons themselve have them
Let me check rq
If you go on Ishtar and search "Eliksni" the left hand side will have a bunch of tags from the various seasons
If you click that itll narrow the word search to that specific season package
oh, I was goin for the eliksni tag rather than searching the word. 2 tags don’t work I suppose. thank you!
is there an ishtar app?
No clue
Nope
I mean I think it is adapted to phone
the website
You can create direct access to websites so at least you have an icon
That is what I do with Newgrounds
I’m sowwy zoup
The Traveler is roughly the size of the moon, right? In all the art it looks like the same size, only closer.
Our moon affects the tides of our oceans, guides nocturnal animals at night, and does other things (besides being haunted)
So with a second moon sized object, why aren't we getting flooded/dried up, are the aquatic ecosystems okay?
What search terms do I need to find fashion lore?
Already read Eva's Journey, Dawning Delights, and that one time a Warlock boasted about his Felwinter's Helm in GG
"fashion" usually shows usage of the word fashion as a manner of doing something and "shader" turns up the lore bits for 8 million shaders
way smaller
Maybe ghost stories
Yea much much smaller
Like 4 times ish
Wait
More than 4
Ooooo cabal holograms
cabalogram
To the last part even if the Traveler were the size of the Moon, it is able to just. not have gravitational impact on any celestial body that it visits
Ironically that very concern is what the worm familiar (and by veeery long proxy, the Witness) used to convince the proto-hive that the Traveler's arrival would spell out the death of their species
Is that d1 or red war
I’ll be damned
you don’t remember the four minute cutscene where we discover the almighty is plummeting towards earth?
fake lore fan
That one spot on earth experiences like fuckall sun
Everyone in the last city takes vitamin D supplements
Ball moment
if I may ask, what exactly is the meaning behind the whole "O Bearer Mine" type thing the Ahamkara seem to do regularly?
It’s mystical~
Bearer of my sustenance
Bearer of my twisted wish
huh, could've sworn there was an actual reason for it outside of "it sounds funky, lets give it to the wish granting dragons"
part of the anthem anatheme, I think
It’s used by the Ahamkara to invoke the Anthem Anatheme, by which they exert their will over reality by basically claiming ownership over the wisher.
“O [blank] mine” is the actual phrase
bearer is specifically just referring to when you’re using ahamkara bones
you’re the bearer
yea, its the one I could think of off the top of my head so I used it as an example
It’s notable the Worm Gods also do it, since they feed in similar ways to Ahamkara.
And sometimes Ahamkara, and people who are not Ahamkara like Calus or Savathun, say it in regular speech just to be cheeky.
so what exactly is the Anthem Anatheme?
A musical Score about a sea anemone
it’s the power used to influence material reality
ahamkara have to do it because they feed on desires
Xol just did it because he could
Worm moment
so the ahamkara basically use the "O <word here> Mine" phrase to stake a claim over the wisher and start the ability to manipulate reality to feed off the desire of the wisher? sounds complicated
they’re not staking a claim
Sounds too complicated
That's gathered from truth to power
If that's true or not is, well
Questionable.
I am statementable
truth to power being notorious for being vague in how true and factual it really is
the problem isn’t being vague the problem is that it’s literally made as a lie
The best liars make you question the truth
stuff having small truths in it isn’t really intentional
it wasn’t left as a clue
Savathun just used some facts and twisted them to fuck with us
So some parts are probably true, some parts are bullshit, it's ultimately just fucking with us
same thing with Martian missives
1 or 2 (pick a number)
17
1 it is (since it’s closest)
It should be noted, Ikora Rey considers it an “excellent explanation” of the Anthem.
Time to talk about the sunbreakers and the followers of osiris
tf was option two then?
they’re not really related
The nine or something
Aw man
the sunbreakers were a mercenary group
they left the city after Osiris drama
that’s the extent of it
Pain
is this a reference to the mask
What’s the sunbreaker lore tab rn?
or what the mask is referencing
Don’t know, asked a while ago and think I got answers about the nine or xur
why act this way
I should ask you that
wdym
You know what mean

I see nothing wrong here
Right behind you…
Oh cool, byf says the worm in titan is ahasa https://youtube.com/shorts/bMWugh0fUKk?si=SVF9hInqDj7I4E3W
Deep within Titan's Methane Ocean, you might see a distant looming shadow. This is Ahsa, a proto-Worm God who escaped from Fundament when the Witness corrupted her species. She's been known as the Leviathan of Titan and the for the longest time the Drifter called her the "Long boy in the soup" before actually meeting her. She was a crucial part ...
I thought this was established back in Deep
I’m admittedly less familiar with the lore of the last few seasons
(Due to extend game break)
(And I’m just naturally skeptical of anything Byf)
Fair
Wait
Valus te arc came back in whisper? https://youtube.com/shorts/rl4G4xVXaTA?si=oGsil_hNn0iURi_S
After we defeated the Worm God Xol, the whispers came for us. They led us to Io and the Lost Oasis. Within the Grove of Ulan-tan, we discovered a secret passageway into Io's underworld. A place of shadow, mystery and Taken monsters. But we were triumphant and discovered the Whisper of the Worm.

Asphodelia might just be a flower but it seems like it's actually even older than The Witness. It's recorded as being on a Precursor ship's manifest from before the time of The Witness, but it's also been found in the Black Garden, which implies that it might even be as old as The Traveler.

That’s all for now
it’s so weird that a worm god with access to both necromancy and the power to take would have taken troops that used to be dead
no explanation would ever explain how this happens
I, for one, am shook
according to a former Bungie dev, the Whisper is meant to take place in his Throne World and Xol himself is the Worm God of death
that sounds kind of stupid
so maybe they aren't resurrected and taken per say
but then what else would explain the resurrected taken from Deep
they could be manifestations similar to counterfeit taken
if they’re not more leftovers from Xol shenanigans, what are they doing there
I'm pretty sure we already knew his name

Ah
Is there any lore about what the various bullets are in each gun in destiny or any images.
I mean there’s not many specifics like what caliber a gun has
if a weapon’s ammunition is mentioned it’s usually just the distinction of whether or not it’s an actual bullet or pure energy
like graviton lance literally just shoots black holes
I hope ratkings bullets have engraved rats on em.
We don’t have projectiles for most weapons
Tho ghally does have wolf rounds
And thorn/malf have thorns
But you can’t tell that mid flight (since primaries don’t have mid flight)
Shaxx giving the most insightful lore drop during Dawn:
“It shoots bullets, Saint. It’s a gun.”
ok so my current theory for what the traveler is, is that it is a sentient machine created either by the birth of the universe or by ancient alien race for the sole purpose of accelerating the development of all aliens species in the universe.
also outside of terra forming, do you ever get a explanation of how the traveler gives knowledge
or did humans/other races just lock in when they saw worlds being terraformed
is that why she created guardians as well, or is that another one of the traveler being a kind being
she made the ghosts as a final act sorta thing when she went into slumber during the collapse
mix of just locking in and having speakers
I thought speakers came during the dark age
the opposite
they died out in the dark age
ours was the last one since he was born essentially right after the collapse
and yes, that made him incredibly old and decrepit by the time we meet him ingame
Vex Mythoclast
Fabian Strategy
Y’know the title of Great Machine is as arbitrary as our own title of Traveler, right?
Both are accurate though
Big ball that looks like a machine and travels

The most iconic moment of destiny is seraph
The Traveler actually travels
But to that extent, the Traveler does not appear to belong to a species or race nor does it follow conventional sentient entity
The pale heart
Rip Luna
How exactly do we get some of our enemies' weapons as exotics?
What if...Destiny roleplay server?
Could probably find one on disboard or something else
Ok, just searched that up. Now I'm scared.

i never really fully understood how oryx was involved with riven, the dreaming city, shattered throne, mara, uldren, cayde, etc. Can someone give me a basic rundown?
Yes someone will answer that
In the meantime,
What’s going on with Ishtar collective website?
uses the api
but what i mean is that if this is an ARG, its not actual bungie doing it
well oryx took riven, then iirc savu made some wishes and caused the curse, and riven tried to trick uldren into freeing her using the form of mara (very tldr)
why did oryx take riven?
cause ahamkara are very powerful
