like behavior-wise
And prophesize that dungeon did - albeit represented by Taken enemies (fake Taken supposedly/apparently, I don't remember because it's been a whiel since I've refreshed my Nine lore), the Nine warned us of future events as well as pushing the idea that there is not as much a divide between the Light and Darkness like we had believed before
they can boil your brain in tis very skull
they tried to when Drifter back talked them, but he used his Light to protect it
This book helps further explain stuff about them, but they purposefully speak in riddle and ambiguity
https://www.ishtar-collective.net/categories/book-dust
are those symbols written in Matoran?
They also hijacked an Awoken Titan whom Queen Mara tasked with seeking out and learning more about the Nine, she's the Emissary within the Dungeon
Unfortunately not, it's the Nine's own special thing
(But also seriously there's a entomological analysis of the Matoran alphabet and language I can dm you if you want)
oh for sure!
(Just to add one last thing, the PhD who wrote that paper is also really good at Bionicle Fanfic)
Count how many spaces there are within the circles
oh hey, Mael's here again

If the Light makes people forget who they were when it resurrects them for the first time and makes them guardians, how does Ana Bray remember her childhood, unless she became a guardian as a child? Do some people become guardians before dying, and only those who become guardians when their ghosts first find their bodies lose their memories?
I think these guys can explain it better but as far as I understand
she lost all her memories
it's jsut that she had an ID card on her when she rezzed
there was an instance in the Dark Future where the Witness showed her a memory from her childhood
but it was only in the Dark Future timeline
So that would be how she now knows her past experiences?
Only dead people can be risen as Guardians. And all Guardians lose their memories on initial resurrection
she doesn't have her memories
Ana couldn’t have been made a Guardian as a child anyway because Guardians didn’t exist until the Collapse, when she was already an adult
In fact, she perished specifically in the Collapse
Correct
since right after the Collapse
The Traveler created the Ghosts in/at the end of the Collapse
Golden age -> Collapse -> Dark Age -> City Age (you are here)
The Dark Age was a direct result of the devastation of the Collapse
Humanity scattered, Warlords exploiting their power, Fallen beginning to raid settlements
Was the Golden Age the direct result of the Traveler?
ah ok
Golden Age started when Humanity confronted the Traveler on Mars in the Ares One mission
Did these events happen over a couple hundred years?
Or even thousands
we don't have exact numbers
but it is estimated that maybe 700-1000 years passed between the start of the Golden Age to now
at the very least around 500 maybe
Anyone know what powers early lightbearers had? Assuming the powers we have now had to be taught
they were pretty much the same
I thought the abilities each class has now was the result of centuries of honing and study
Otherwise guardians would be able to summon just about anything they can imagine right?
eh
granted we probably didn't start using Light abilities until some time passed
we don't have much on Guardians right at the start of the Dark Age
How exactly did the travelers benefit humanity
What did ur do
It*
not counting anything that happened during the Collapse and after, the most notable thing it did was terraform various planets and moons in Sol
we know it terraformed 2 unnamed Moons of Jupiter, Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Io in that order
although we aren't sure if it visited any other destinations between its visit to Mars and Io at this time
I believe there were some more minor gifts too like a "topological thought" that Elsie intended to use as a weapon to destroy the Vex on Volantis (a Star the Vex converted into a forge which the Glassway portal on Europa leads to)
In fairness
I have no idea what that is.
Matoric alphabet. Or at least one of the alphabets it used during Bionicle’s initial run, there’s another set which was based on hexagonal symbols
I know virtually nothing about Bionicle and I do not seek to change this.
But what if it was in academic paper form?
I know virtually nothing about Bionicle and I do not seek to change this.
Mael you hurt me
Robot people made of misshapen lego bricks do not catch my whimsy
But they’re all partially organic; in fact despite the entire universe that is explored in the first 8 years of the toy line is artificially made, they were made biomechanical to mimic their creators
I know virtually nothing about Bionicle and I do not seek to change this.
You should become a scholar of Hero Factory lore instead

I have no idea what this is
different theme, but used the same building system as Bionicle
Well, kinda
Same principle but it was a very new/innovated building system. Very few shared parts I believe
But yeah it was Lego’s attempt at a Bionicle successor
I can’t remember how long it lasted tbh
I know it ended and then they also tried to revive Bionicle again after though
I still got a Dragonbolt from that theme on my shelf
First wave of sets was very much still based on the Technic system ball joints and what not, but then the second "season" of sets introduced the "Creature and Character Building System" aka ccbs system, which was much more streamlined for the type of build they wanted for Hero Factory, itself a somewhat derivation on the Glatorian build which is itself somewhat based on the Ignika build
ok, now what building system is Galidor?
LEGO System based
Uh idk Galidor was wacky
Fun Fact Hero Factory was going to be much more interesting than just intergalactic space police and reveal that the founder was originally someone from the Bionicle universe (itself being somewhat intergalactic as well; Mata Nui was a giant survey robot meant to implant itself on alien planets and record civilizations in order to ascertain the best way to unite the warring tribes of Spherus Magna after the entire planet split into a desert planet and two moons of jungle and water respectively, itself caused by a struggle over energized protodermis, which was mcguffin silver goo found in veins across the planet)
Wait hold on Nick Bluetooth
Yeah, Galidor is barely compatible with Lego but it's possible to moc pieces
At least it isn’t as weird as this technical Lego set
https://youtu.be/wMwfSTGWHII?si=KNXjXFx1O-1GD57o
The weirdest ... and maybe creepiest LEGO set ever!

I need to save my Bionicle lore rants for when the month’s over
what about the tv show where they put the H on their chests
Lore Question: What the dog doin?
(when and where did this angel come from?)
Seraph Station! We found him there in Season of the Seraph, apparently made by Rasputin for reasons unclear.
You can still find the spot we found him, in fact
His name is Archie
really now? Well im just gonna assume this is a spy for Rasputin. followed us here to keep an eye on our digital dog treats... lil fella seemss hungry
Hero Factory
his name is Archangel funny enough (Archie for short)
ARCHIE wow thats precious
Uh, well. Rasputin's a little... a little dead.
So there isn't much spying going on.
wtf did we delete their hard drive?
He deleted it himself, in a way. Sacrificed himself to shut down the Warsat network which Eramis had hijacked, and aimed at the Traveler.
WH-- didnt we kill Eramis??
In Beyond Light? The Witness freed her a couple of years ago.
She'd been forced into it's labour since then.
Since Seraph, she has escaped.
But she's a broken woman. The Witness abandoned her, her people are no better off, and she has left... hoping to find her partner, Athrys, who she left in the Collapse and sent to a distant, safe star with her children.
she woulda stayed a different sort of broken woman if the game let me tape my Lament to her face the way i did when i beat that DLC
is the leader of House Light still alive?
i know thats the last thing i finished
Misraaks/Mithrax? Yes, he is, and he's quite comfortable and safe in the City with his daughter, Eido.
hell yea, i even noticed how many more Eliksni are bing chilling in the Tower nowadays.
Indeed
Cabal of the Ascendancy, Eliksni of House Light, and Awoken
whats with the Cabal standing guard here though? Are these Caitl's goons?
They are with Caiatl, yes
So we didnt turn her into a gun like the Zavala meme suggested, lol. How did we manage that?
That's a bit of a long story if you want all the details, but the short answer is that we brokered a ceasefire that developed into an alliance.
I'm too busy right now for long stories
I ain't
I'm putting together a bed with a tiny little allen key and I hate it
ok, so back in Season of the Chosen, Caiatl arrived in the Sol system with the rest of the remnants of the Cabal Empire

what happened not long prior was that the Cabal homeworld of Torobatl was ransacked by Xivu Arath (who was led there by Savathun) so Caiatl took what was left of the collapsing empire and took it to Sol to regroup
there, she decided to make an offer withthe Vanguard
basically, the Guardians would be absorbed into the Cabal Empire so we could fight the Darkness together, but Zavala refused since it was no different than us surrendering to them
Don't forget the reason why she had to offer such a hard deal
DAAAAMN the balls on that woman holy shit
you're referring to the fact that her council wanted to go to war with us right?
yeah, so anyways, after we refuse, she goes on to start collecting what remained of Red Legion forces and basically the situation started escalating from there
Cabal moment
Saladin really suggested we end this now and go to war with Caiatl, but Zavala was on the fence about that idea
he of course knew that there wasn't a totally peaceful way to end it
in the meantime, we would go and eliminate high value Cabal targets that Caiatl was trying to recruit into her war council
there was also a plot devised by a small conclave of psions to assassinate Zavala due to previous events
Basically if she asked for an alliance, her people would abandon her, rebel, go fucking nuts. They are Cabal. They have honour.
But she knew they couldn't win, yet needed our help.
So she orchestrated a delicate political and cultural dance of a deal to be refused, and honourable combat to be revitalised.
jesus christ
She deftly weaved her way through the Cabal traditions and her need for our assistance
which could be summarized as us killing three psions flayer sisters and then stopping the 4th one's revenge attempt by blowing up the Almighty which was on a collision course towards the Last City
we really ought to get some bigger artillery guns by the Last City
The Almighty was bigger than the entire city itself
AA can only do so much
bigger gun
and to make matters worse, these psions stole some cabal technology that the Red Legion once used to cage the Traveler and reverse-engineered it into smaller devices that can be attached onto Ghosts to suppress the Light of individual Guardians, making them very vulnerable
we had Rasputin's help at that point
We recruited Rasputin to make that bigger gun
Then the Pyramids shut him down for a while
ah THERE'S the gun
so anyways, the psions made one attempt to kill Zavala, but failed because he was warned by Crow
damn poor fella
then Zavala would come up with a plan to put an end to the growing conflict
essentially, we would be sent to face a champion of Caiatl's choosing in a final Rit of Proving
I was referring to the first attempt, not the second, we aren;t there yet

if we win, then Caiatl would back down and accept our terms of Armistice
if we lose, then Zavala will be forced into Caiatl's war council as a political prisoner of sorts
so, we won to no one's surprise
and Zavala and Caiatl meet up for peace talks
but then, the psion conclave makes their second and final attempt on Zavala's life
(Not by Caiatl's orders)
one of them hits his Ghost with the mini cage, making Zavala temporarily Lightless, and the other charges at Zavala with the big knife which as Mael mentioned, was blocked by Crow
With his face
before the psion with the knife could strike again, Caiatl grabbed her and smashed her on the ground, almost killing her instantly
PFF DAMN
Full on body slam
so all ends well, the armistice is established, the other psion was apprehended and executed, and the road to an actual alliance is paved

oh, and it was also the moment Zavala found out Crow was Uldren
LETS GOOO
HAHA OH
around a year later, Season of the Risen would act as kind of a continuation of what Chosen established
where we move forward with our developing alliance with the Cabal Empire
a psion envoy is sent to the Last City to aid us in our psionic intelligence program where we capture Hive Lightbearers and scour their minds for intel on their plans
(season of the what-now?)
Saladin has moved on from his desire to wage war on Caiatl so he;s chill
thats good to hear for him
Crow on the other hand starts having doubts mainly on the ethics of using the psions to get intel from enemy minds
Saladin gives Crow a lecture on why it's good to murder children who steal (I'm exaggerating and leaving out important details here as a joke)
Lightbearers. Risen by Ghosts. We, as Guardians, are Risen Lightbearers.
Yea Crow, get with the program.
in the end, we stop the Lucent Brood's plans and Crow decides that we don't need the Psion's expertise now so he goes to the room where the mind scouring device is and tries to turn it off while the psion envoy was still hooked into it
as a result, the psion is killed in a freak accident and Caiatl is pissed
yeah, then he fucking dies
Whoops.
and there goes Crow making me hate him again
(i still wear my Memory of Cayde bond)
before going further
I should state that at the start of this season, which goes alongside the start of Witch Queen, we kind of massacre a lot of Caiatl's troops for no good reason other than "they were in our way"
luckily, Caiatl let it slide just this once
unluckily, Crow screwed up
so Caiatl demands an answer for the psion's death
To clarify, Crow felt some level of connection to the comatose brain dead Hive being mindscoured.
He was used by Savathûn and considered his past self to be a monster too, and there was some wild inner guilt manifesting in a very stupid way here.
Leading him to accidentally fry Caiatl's close Psion friend
BOO-HOO CROW
she approaches Crow and is about to kill him for it when Saladin gets in the way and offers to take the fall for Crow
Caiatl accepts and instead forces Saladin to be on her war council (kind of like what would have happened to Zavala if we failed the last Rite of Proving)
Bracus Forge

at first it's not really an ideal way to end things, but Saladin managed to achieve the rank of Valus pretty quickly
Valus now
Yes
Via 1 on 1 combat with a Valus using no Light and nothing but his axe
so after that our alliance with the Cabal just keeps on advancing further
THASS MUH BOI

read this, it's context for Saladin's lecture on killing a thieving child
pretty good and gritty
heh
gritty
Btw how is my boi doing these days since Splicer?
quite a lot
he didn't take the news that Osiris was possessed by Savathun very well
oh yea i bet not
he helped Mara exorcise Savathun's worm
i love to hear it
Even better, you can see it
One moment
then he would obtain a tea made from diluted Darkness taken from Nezarec's corpse parts
and use it to wake Osiris up
the gif is funnier
You know what else was sweet
Saint murdering Savathûn about a dozen times over and over again as soon as he got the chance
So cute
really had to do that to my wife, but i totally get it
iirc the number next to Exo names is an indication of how many times they reset their memories right?
Generally speaking, yes
jesus, Saint really did a factory reset 14 times
Well, yes, but not as a Lightbearer. When he was mortal. Or as mortal as Exo get.
holy cow, musta had it rough
Not as bad as some. Nkechi-32, for example.
i was so excited when i first saw Saint exit that Vex gate so long ago. His helmet was my favorite on my Titan in D1 and 2. good memories
GOD DAMN, 32 TIMES??
There's also... Echo.
Echo... what?
...2625.
NO... NO WAY DUDE
He was quite insane.
HOLY JESUS, yea im guessing this dude was a lobotomite with that many
Not far off
wow so bad that he turned into a leaf blower according to Google
Legacy Part 1 and 2 are what you'd want for read for that
Via the Ishtar Collective
yea i remember that DLC being very juicy for my interest in Exo's
thank u!
yeah yeah, we all stared at the dead exos
Horses in the pyramids...
Many butted horses in fact
they are maximizing horsepower
Ah yes, the Horsorsorsorsorsorsorse
Horsemaxxing
the more the better
let's not forget banshee
How did Cayde eat spicy ramen
Do Exos just have a thing in their mouth that transforms food into pure energy
And programmed taste?
exos can actually eat
It's to prevent DER
iirc exos do have some amount of internal organs
they dont need to eat as they dont feel hunger, but they can eat
Exo guardians do it for fun, they have no need to eat
They do get hungry
oh they do? i though exos couldnt feel hunger
Fun fact, the music in this cutscene is what is playing in the Into the Light streams before it starts but pitched down
Nope
Then the first one replied with this weird tone, "Hmm… so you would say… you're hungry for hunger?" Which made them laugh for a long time.```
Damn guess I misremembered
Them not being hungry is a bit weird though.
Hero Factory
Mmmm Clovis resetting 43 times and then deciding to rest one last time so he could start anew as Banshee-44
wonder why he kept going numerically
if i was starting anew I'd want to be Banshee-1 I think
well an exo iteration 1 with memory problems is a hard sell
part of the point is banshee gave himself memory problems, not just a wipe
Yes. It would raise more questions than anything else. But a many-wiped Exo with memory issues seems perfectly normal.
can anyone point me to seasonal lore recaps/summaries from the last year? i dont care if its a 3h video or 40 page writeup, i just want somewhere to get a good notion
Like, lightfall seasons, or wq seasons
lightfall seasons yeah
Well, witness obtains a connection via the veil in the dlc campaign and gets inside traveler yea
Defiance is their troops distracting us using captures civilians to keep us occupied
Amanda dies in a boobytrapped prison thing that explodes
Eramis fucks off searching for her lover
Season of deep comes next
Titan comes back, commander sloane is alive, big fishy uses her to teach us lore shit and we figure out that to follow the witness we gotta bring back savathun
Season of witch
Eris becomes hive
We bring back savathun and evict xivu from her throne world like a landlord
Season of the wish, savathuns wish to riven gets completed, letting crow access the traveler
We also save some ahamkara eggs
whats savathuns wish?
a wish to follow the witness
and why is crow the one accessing the traveler
crow and Mara have a connection as siblings
he can pave the way and Mara can track him
I mean I assume he’s going to be a character that speaks
bungie could do a funny and just have him dead offscreen but I don’t think they would
lol
there’s prime opportunity for Cayde interaction after all
i just hope he isnt the Nimbus of the new expansion
I believe his VA confirmed/teased this
How would Cayde even come back?
I don’t understand
The Traveler have anything to with it?
Memory like cleansed Nightmare from Haunted but was never Nightmare, in the Pale Heart
Which is supposedly Akashic Record-like according to ship from Deep vendor rewards, so him being a Memory with a physical form is more likely
Also his mouth lights in the Final Shape teaser are Blue instead of Yellow, which gives further credence to this theory
He eat some dry ice before filming
I'd recommend the Destiny Lore Vault channel, find their full seasonal story playlists for everything that happens in the seasonal stories
we enter the portal in a cool hero™️ moment and he just gets killed infront of us
Don't remember if Byf does season summaries even, if I remember last I actually watched him he just does videos through out the season on what he thinks is going on + what he predicts will happen in the future
I’m more imagining a Lakshmi moment where we just transmat on his corpse and it’s never directly referenced
maybe
thanks, I will check it out
Considering how powerful is Ikora
Only Just clocked to me that Savathuns Song, the massive sheirker on titan we destroyed during the red war, it was observing the planet to find oryx's body, which it found, which savathun then sent a ghost and witch to go revive during season of the deep
mad foreshadowing
Also Ahsa, who is a "Worm" before the Worm Gods allowed themselves to be corrupted into the forms they possess, belonging to that same species
oh yea at the end of that one strike with the witch
did we ever kill that thing ?
...No, because Ahsa's our ally
She's the big thing that helped Sloane survive Titan being Taken
That from Ghosts of the Deep?
If so, that’s Ahsa
oh yea i just called her the worm
Curious what strike you’re referring to here though, can’t remember what strike this is
What is the lore behind void
It sounds like a darkness thing
But it’s not apparently
What's up everyone? Today we have Osiris explaining in a simple way how every element in destiny so far works!
What is your favorite element? Let me know in the comments!
As always that is it for me,
hope you enjoyed and if you did please don't forget to leave a like and subscribe to the channel!
I'll see you next time guardians o7

Light is for like, "physical" stuff for a lack of a better wors
Word
Nuclear fusion, atom bindings, quantum space, that shit
Darkness is more emotion and stuff, like willpower
So like physical shit bs abstract concepts
Go with the flow
Vs*
Not exactly
So what makes the void different than other light
Same thing that makes a tree different from a rock, it's just
Yknow
Clearly different
Void is also really weird
It's several things at once
Paracasual energy wielded in different ways
That's the thing, different aspects of the universe
It's on one hand, gravity, on the other hand the closest thing we have to "nothing"
Void is like the force
It's also some... weird realm thing we tap into
Anyway I think the video with Osiris can explain it better for you
And every subclass has a small story that is something between lore and an explanation
It's also the rawest form of energy
Imagine you have a bottle with a cork, inside this bottle is a complete vacuum
Now open the cork
The air rushing in to the bottle, that effect is void
The light elements are all just "spicier simple stuff", solar ain't fire It's nuclear fucking fusion
Void is spicy kinetic energy, and also spicy nothing
You can probably get kinetic force from Void, like you can make fire from the fucking sun
And arc is frequently used to power stuff so ig it works like electricity too.
That's a lot of words
Well. Combustion is a chemical reaction causing fission and fusion to happen simultaneously to produce carbon dioxide and water, with the amount of energy released and how rapidly it releases being dependent on the atomic bonds of the burning material
So yes, you do get fire from the Sun, it’s just a smaller sun
are ghosts living organisms or are they robots
I'm talking about the fact the sun outputs a lot of heat
Sentient frequencies of Light housed in their shells
Heat is atomic kinetic energy within a molecule, which fire is an extreme example of
It's probably less steps to make fire with void
With the right perspective void is more fire than solar is
That's bullshit but it's just funny to think about
So still, you’re getting the breaking and rearranging of atomic bonds between molecules with combustion, thus fire being moments of fission and fusion at a lower kinetic energy level
It's too late for me to be understanding how atoms tango
Kek, Sun is literally a ball of fire
Physics is stupid
I mean potential energy is named such because pockets of it are what causes vacuums like you demonstrated and gravitational wells, so this is correct somewhat
That's mostly what I ment yes
Just with less words
I'm very early into my studies for physics, I know a decent bit of it but I don't understand definitions
It's why I almost failed language classes and not science
I prefer stasis because at least that's simple
Through sheer fucking will I play red light green light with spacetime within a ceirtan area
Well technically it touched upon Absolute Zero, a theoretical condition in which atoms hold absolutely zero kinetic energy
And despite that it's technically not cold
If it just outright made stuff cold it would be a lot more powerful
Considering people not only survive being frozen, but immediately regain the heat they were previously in
That change of temperature, if it actually changed it, would just make them explode wouldn't it?
Which would technically be a vacuum full of atomic potential energy, but the reason that’s a scientific impossibility is because if you had a singular atom at Absolute Zero, all the heat of the surrounding environment would flood into that atom, and everything around it would instantaneously freeze; Stasis achieves a psuedo-similar state through complete rearrangement of molecules to be compacted into crystalline shape and paracausal bullshit
So instead of actually causing a heat vacuum, you just arrange molecules into a literal crystal shape
Or, in simpler terms, red light green light
More like I built the Lego set into a singular wall instead of the full set with play features, which in this allegory would be representative of kinetic energy in this case
If you actually red light green light, that crystal would crash through the planetoid and the universe in general because everything is in motion
But relative to a position it has absolutely zero kinetic energy
But you do also stop spacetime or some shit, there was a lore book about that somewhere
But it's not like
You don't remove the energy
Iiii don’t remember, though I do recall that the crystalline shape resembles patterns found in radiolaria or something like that
Maybe a pattern formed as a result of the "freezing"?
The shape is like
How to put it
It has order to it, yknow
Which is what stasis is all about
Or molecular manipulation into crystals which resemble the object frozen
You're basically telling the thing you're "freezing" to stop moving
Like temporarily stopping kinetic energy without removing any kinetic energy
Which makes absolutely no sense
And is most definitely not possible right
However
Paracausality
It’s so sad VintageNuke got himself banned, he would’ve enjoyed explaining his analysis
Lot of lore lads here got themselves banned
Think they formed their own discord a while back
Which I did join
Not the Cryptarchy, right?
No
Mmm I’m interested in joining maybe
so if I'm not wrong, The Witness first appeared in Shadowkeep, right?
But not in his form we commonly associate him with
It ended up primarily being a place to witch hunt and mock people you didn't like in private
Even if it was really minor and petty shit
Stopping kinetic energy within a set “system” a la the target of Stasis thrown and ignores outside that system (aka the rest of the universe) then rearranging all the molecules to follow the same crystalline structure
Oof yikes
You missed out, and that's a really good thing
I've completely cut contact with most of them, save for like the actually chill folks
Somewhat yes; it was present in the universe for a long time, but our first encounter is in the Black Garden, where it presents itself as “Our Salvation” whilst mimicking the Guardian
Yeah I meant the guardians first direct interaction with him
Arrivals, and then when we got Stasis (kinda), then I don’t remember
How was your flight
bad
six hour from London to Boston, two hour layover, then three to Minneapolis
I want a shower
I mean he talks through our ghost but it was not face to face I guess
sorry was thinking about nokris and the worm was xol
Strike inside a pyramid whennnnn
more strikes in general lol
Now that you mention it
What is birthplace of the vile exactly
Cause everything is pyramid technology but at the time is it no the pyramid I guess
what is the control clovis bray had over exos?
Like, he could do an order 66 if he wanted?
would it be possible to have a dog guardian 🤔
He doesn’t
If he could control Exos that way, he wouldn’t have had to blow Elsie up
it's a city made of Pyramid architecture
Wdym, during Defiance
?
We were in the pyramids rescuing people
But that was not a strike that was battlegrounds
I want like a vanguard playlist strike in a pyramid
Potato-potato, one of those is in the Vanguard playlist I’m pretty sure
the battlegrounds were technically not inside Pyramids too
they were inside Prisons made from Pyramid tech and atchitecture
Anyway I don't think there would a reason for vanguard to do an op on pyramids
Those are big and mysterious places and even if the reason if something like what happened in WQ is dangerous to send a regular fireteam just to explore them
There’s also that fun insight that they might be sentient
Well in that WQ missions the Pyramid was "asking for help"
And in Shadowkeep the pyramid let us enter
given the Witness' relationship with the Pyramids, I'm not so certain
that was the Witness given that it spoke through our Ghost
True
Could have also been the Witness since it probably knew we were trying to get Deepsight
and the Witness would have good reason to help us with that since it would allow us to defeat Savathun
Yeah
hmmm I wonder
And in Lightfall the Imperitor guided us through its interiors to vital objectives we needed to strike, though that could have been leading us towards the Radiant Mast or whatever that thing was with the annoying arena, which would’ve eventually lead to us being next to the Veil
did Savathun know how powerful the Witness really was?
I'm curious how would that develop
We can’t tell if the Pyramids’ actions were their own or the Witness’ long term machinations to give us a little bit to chase and lead us to where it wanted us to go
Like, without traveler we lost our light but we still got stasis
And if witness came
I don't think the Imperator was guiding us, we were just finding our way through
And Traveler was on Savathuns world what would have happened?
Like he could just enter and take the traveler?
has savathun and the witness met face to face?
I believe so
I agree on that
At the end if that was true I find strange the imperator sending us to that place where the cabal artillery was
Savathun was going to close off her Throne World
Still there was that commentary on how it seemed to be guiding us where to go
wether or not that would have worked though
I guess we would never know but considering our situation at the moment
How catastrophic could really be losing the traveler at the moment
Like guardians with stasis major threats defeated
We were allies of house of light and caitl at that point right?
even with all of that, we still heavily relied on the Light
sure our Ghosts can still heal us without needing a connection to the Light, but they can't rez us without it
Oh
Most Guardians probably don’t know Stasis or Strand
Hell, most Guardians are still learning one Light subclass still
Guardians en masse losing their Light would absolutely be catastrophic even if some still have access to Darkness
Oh yeah I forgot about that
I don't know about you but I'd be a bit concerned about the impending death we could never return from
Mael's here again
I feel like nowadays stasis is used as much as any other
"So this is mortality?"
You have your own theme and you get mad
you know it’s funny
it's because it's the track Byf uses for his intros
and Mael sounds a lot like him
that's the joke
I guess but we have any status on that?
Also
Vanguard official position about stasis was they were against of using it, at what point that changed?
the official vanguard stance was they don’t condone it
note the specific warning
and two seasons later Ikora directly mentions they’re fine with it
the only reason Zavala got angry during the events of WQ was Ikora apparently not reporting literally anything to him, so he had no idea deepsight was in play or us seeking out the Europa pyramid to enhance it
Zavala pretty much said Guardians must not use the darkness
This has probably been discussed already but what's with the Subjugators? Clearly they’re Lubraean, but they were wiped out.
the brunt of BL was shoddy in a meta sense and in-universe
things were rushed all around
Zavala had a semi-baked “fight fire with fire but don’t get burned” arc
maybe the Subjugators are to Rhulk what Tormentors are to Nezarec
I mean
pretty sure the hands and feet line up
Yeah I had this discussion with Spider last night while teaching him Athrys's angles haha
I looked at them when it was revealed
"Wow you sound like Byf"
Remind me whats the deal with tormentors
Nezarec is the original and all I think but I forgot
nothing concrete, but it is possible the Witness used some cloning stuff to create Tormentors from Nezarec
The subjugators got their hands on Lubraean weaponry too
Makes me think we’ll get stasis and strand glaives
I mean if we’re going with the same line of logic
I pray
they’re born and immediately sent to war
not exactly anything of their own volition
it’s the classic leviathan ceremonial bather treatment
What's the current situation with Clovis Bray?
Clovis AI or Banshee?
Both
Banshee has no development
last I checked it’s “implied” Ana talked to him about Warmind stuff in seraph
but it wasn’t directly confirmed if it was him, I think
so
well she did actively seek out his help at the start of Seraph
I'm still waiting for them to tell us Clovis took control of Banshee after BL but at this point
I don't really know what they would do with that
Ah yeah he's been Clovis all this time and he's been spying because...
I don't even think he could do that
Banshee hasn't even set foot on Europa
at least I don't think he did
I mean at the end of Lament mission he told us he would when Banshee arrives
That's the thing
We don't even know If Banshee arrived
Banshee is just eternally chilling
Unironically probably just forgot
At this point he sure forgot
But dunno I find interesting that idea even it has
0 use
anything Clovis is probably just going to be post FS though
unless he’s involved with echoes, assuming that’s about Ishtar stuffs
Do you own Beyond Light?
yea its been a WHILE since i did campaign and post campaign stuff
wasnt really paying attention either mb
Your quest to earn the Lament explained it, but...
The story can be found here

ty bro
Detailing the Vex/Exo War, and the whole Banshee/Clovis thing, plus the resets
What are those floating bodies in the air when I go into a lost sector?
Nightmares
manifestations of trauma
they originated from the Lunar Pyramid which belonged to Nezarec
and while it isn't officially stated, I consider them a form of deepsight
There's definitely parallels there at the very least
Now the reason there's so many guardian nightmares on the moon is the battle of mare imbrium or the great disaster
Few thousand Guardians went up to retake the moon from the hive, didn't understand how throne worlds worked, Crota literally just walked around bitchslapping them with his sword
Several thousand dead guardians later
Then the First Fireteam went into the hellmouth and got:
- killed by knights and thrall
- turned into white ball
- turned into bug
- deathsonged
- omnigul'd
- delighted and hiveified (Eris Morn)
Fast forward ~100 years iirc, then Eris pops back up and we go in and kill Crota
I don’t think delighted is how I’d describe Eris in the Hellmouth
I don’t think she’d be very delighted at the deaths of her friends

except maybe Toland
I mean, she does appear to have complicated feelings around Toland
She still grieved him in a way, and his Nightmare tormented her the same as the rest of her actual friends

Get it right bro
annoying exposition asshole bulb
Used to be a major manipulative jerk until he witnessed us take down Oryx’s whole pyramid of tithe and then Oryx himself. Is so in awe he’s mostly been relegated to occasional insights and floating around
I really appreciate his presence in Shadowkeep tbh
Those random facts at patrols are so cool
i think the witness bad, maybe
Destroy the entire universe just to rebuilt itself to its own vision of "perfect"?
Nah
He is actually doing us a favor
Why does this sound like a James Bond plot
Wait-- Wasn't that LITERALLY the plot of the Austin Powers movie with Sam Jackson?
No idea what's the position of James Bond in this canon but yeah I guess
I like to thing he's a Gunslinger Hunter just kinda out there doing his own thing :)
There are like 6 of them so maybe they did their own version of the ridiculous six
Okey but you have to relate it to destiny

It’ll be Monday
April 2nd
Anyone have a 'canon' story of their own guardians?
That would be closer to #✨destiny-discussion and #🏆destiny-media , but I have a simple background for all three
All three are Exos, the warlock was really into researching Void but got fed up not getting any breakthroughs and so is hanging out with the Cabal; Hunter is a nerd and loves doing observations and shit; Titan is a big teddy bear but also depressed
Were we more technologically advanced during the golden age?
Compared to? Yes either way, but still.
The Golden Age was significantly more technologically advanced than real life modern day, and certainly moreso than the current day in universe, the Last City. Neomuna has had some advancement, but the rest of humanity were thrust into the Dark Ages after the Collapse, living in villages and starving to death.
The Golden Age was a time of interplanetary colonisation, scientific advancement, and wonder.
So why can modern day human society fend against the darkness and the alien forces
But not teh golden age
Because we have Guardians. Ghosts did not exist until the climax of the Collapse, when the Traveler pushed back the Black Fleet and fell comatose.
Paracausal, very very often, trumps causal.
So militarily we’re superior
But everything else
We’re far behind
Well, in some ways. Golden Age Humanity has Rasputin the Warmind at the helm, controlling every weapon that the solar system had. In a causal, system wide war, they'd have been superior.
We largely use small scale strike forces of paracausal soldiers, piercing through defences.
As for being behind, the Last City has had its own advancements. While much Tech was lost, we've recovered much as well, and made some of our own - Omolon, for example, are dedicated to their own advancements.
We once again build our own ships, fusion weaponry, our City trades and manipulates Glimmer
Probability engines, paracausal pipelines, so on so forth
What’s the difference between paracausal and casual
Casual is normal physics
Paracausal allows for a great variety of things to occur outside of the natural circumstances they would occur in, a la fire appearing from thin air despite no fuel source or initial ignition
Causality is essentially physics. The laws of reality and nature as we understand them.
Cause, hence the name, to effect, under a logical system of A, process, B.
Paracausality is literally, parallel causality. A process of A to B but the middle ground is operating on a totally different set of laws. Illogical, if you go by physics.
Cause, wild strange process, effect.
Ok
It's the reason why we can summon singularities in our hands. There is a cause, there is a reason, there is an effect, but it sure ain't physics.
And is oaracausality tied to teh traveler
Causal: 1 > 2 > 3
Paracausal: 1 > 2a > 3
For the Light, yes; Darkness is much more widespread and easier to access seemingly
Yes. Our Light is granted by Ghosts which is in turn granted by the Traveler. It, and Light itself, is paracausal
So darkness isn’t paracausal?
Got it
The Speaker wasn't lying when he said Light was everywhere, in all things. It's just as widespread, just not accessible.
But the Traveler is the only real source of paracausal Light; however we have found ways to produce Light through other means (turning Solar energy into Solar Light during the Golden Age I believe? I could also be misinterpreting that entry and it’s been a while since I read it)
It is.
Ditto what Mael said
Via Icarus, yes.
It’s another side to Paracausality; supposedly Light pertains more to the Physical aspects of reality, and Darkness pertains more to the conscious, the mental aspects of reality
Got it
And it’s due to this oaracausal stuff that we are able to survive when we weren’t able to in the golden age
They do influence both to an extent (otherwise why have certain personalities drawn towards certain Light elements or the Darkness subclasses at all)
Pretty much. Plus our new alliances with the Cabal Ascendancy, Eliksni of House Light, and Awoken.
Why didn’t the traveler give us this stuff before
We would’ve never collapsed
Ghosts have never existed before. Ever, in all of time.
This was its final stand against the Darkness - but even now, we don't truly know what happened in the Collapse.
We know some vague overviews, but we don't know the exact processes that lead to the creation of the Ghosts. Just that they were created, and began to revive people after the Collapse.
Having Guardians wouldn’t have really helped in the Collapse anyway though tbf
Not much they can do against natural disasters and plagues and mists that strip you to dust in a blink
Also, the Traveler isn't a fighter.
The Traveler has provided blessings to previous civilizations it has visited before, generally in the form of allowing the civilization to advance technologically, sometimes with tools of paracausal power
Which I think there’s only two of the latter example that we know of, the Gift Mast and that one species that got paracausal weapons and were barely mentioned (correct me if wrong please)
Ghosts and their Lightbearers is the most that she has done in all honesty
Which is itself out of faith that those she blesses will come through in the end
She’s hopeful to a fault, which is partially the point as much as people criticize the Traveler’s choices
She?
Wouldn’t it be an it?
That happened?
What exactly was the collapse?
the very much tldr is pyramids came and created lots of natural disasters before getting pushed back by the traveller who then made ghosts and went dormant
nope traveller be a she
Well
It’s an it and a she. Presents feminine occasionally but it still generally an unknowable entity
The Traveler is often referred to or presented as female. It isn't strictly male or female or any gender, but it's a commonly used way to refer to her.
Both it and she work
Like a boat
And I think they is used in Unveiling?
It’s a sentient entity
The fall isn't quick. It happens over weeks and months: cataclysmic disasters, natural and unnatural, flattening human settlements on every planet || that I have made, I have shaped, my work, laid flat ||. Earthquakes. Tidal waves. Solar flares. Cyclones, sinkholes, exploding lakes, wildfires. Unknown, untreatable plagues raze populations in hours. Water goes black with unknown poisons || forced down my throat ||. The ground opens up and swallows entire cities || and I am sick sick sick ||.
It's a being.
And has presented itself in a feminine form and has been referred to by feminine pronouns
Im just curious what would lead to it being assigned a gender
I see
One of the primary recent examples was presenting itself as a female wolf in a dream to Clovis Bray, trying to ward him off the path he was taking.
This did not work, of course. Clovis is too pigheaded.
And pigorganed
Who is Clovis bray

Well that's a whole kettle of fish
Have you played Beyond Light
Yeah
Partly
You will find out in the post-campaign. The short answer is that he built the Europan facilties.
And the Deep Stone Crypt, and Exo
He's an infamous Golden Age scientist
Oh so that’s why the ghost guy mentioned him
He built me
Technically
That’s cool that they customized the dialogue depending on the race
Did he do a lot of bad experiments or something
Clovis Bray, father of Clovis Bray II, grandfather of Willa Bray, Alton Bray, Elsie Bray and (illegitimate) Ana Bray, founder of Clovis Bray, along with its subsidiaries, Braytech, Bray Exoscience, and Bray Futurescape.
(yes i still had this in my clipboard its old)
Yes. Yes, he did. Live human subjects... total amorality. He had much blood on his hands.
Shoo
Begone
Oh
So he’s really bad
begone might be a bot
He significantly advanced the technological levels of humanity in the Golden Age, but... yes.
Oh indeed he did
Human mindscans uploaded to a mechanical body. Deep radiation scans penetrate the brain, killing the person. That mindscan is copied into an Exobody.
Most probable, she wants to be connected to those she protects, the mortal “children” of the universe and presents herself with individual pronouns to strengthen that association both for her and our benefit
bads a word you could use, theres better options tho such as inhumaine unethical ect
Wait so I’m a copy of a person?
I’m not just a robot?
Correct
Didn’t realize the exo backstory went so deep
What happened to Clovis?
Did he die in the collapse
It's complicated
Nah he’s still alive today. In the Tower in fact
You'll find out in the post campaign of Beyond Light
you visit clovis head during bl right?
Keep playing
As an exo?
I’m guessing
Ssh
Not during, but after
I swear if he ends up being that gunsmith dude that’ll be really funny
That would be funny
Mindscan of a person uploaded into a robotic body meant to replicate as many human sensations to satisfy your subconscious and prevent it from becoming so dysphoric that it causes you to undergo full psychosis and eventually die
honestly fricking ridiculous if that happens
@reef salmon
@reef salmon
Stfu
So exos can feel
Like humans,
Like I mean physically
Not quite like humans but yes
As close to humans can as possible
So it’s essentially like a rebirth
Enough to trick the subconscious mind into not killing itself
It’s your entire consciousness, so yes in any case
No, retrograde amnesia was implemented to help the mindscans settle into their new bodies
They know their names and have flashes and ghostly images of memories and that's about it.
What’s the point of turning into an exo
Not specifically. However one Exo notes that he has an intense craving for his grandma’s recipe of something, yet he can’t remember his grandma at all
It can be, sure. But the point was immotality.
Or something to this effect
But isn’t it technically killing u
Lemme see if I can yoink that dialogue from the DLV
Yes and yes.
wasnt there also something bout clovis wanting control over the masses
Those didn't exist. And the process is the same - you still die, and still have no memories.
So is every exo someone who wanted to live forever?
not necessarily
Exo are not being created today. Not since the Vex-Exo War in the Golden Age.
some probably were.
Mostly.
So every time ur ghost revives you it’s a Copy?
My point is that a freshly Risen Guardian also has no memories.
Oh ok
he wanted to be a saviour to humanity by being a LUCA (last universal common ancestor) by creating the Exos which he hoped would outlast normal humans
Can u make an exo of an exo
Knox's Exo can be found within Bray Exoscience. After you enter the main/first room, walk up to your right as if you were traveling towards Creation and behind one of the Exo tables is the Dead Exo.
**
Knox-4: Three... You're saying I've been rebooted three times. Memory bank's been wiped clean and everything? Completely wiped? Are you sure?...
close enough
Well I wasn’t planning on doing the post campaign before but now I want to
It seems cool
...you could reupload the mindscan.
And relevant to my character
Can u make a new mind scan of the exo though
They would functionally be the same thing, given the retrograde amnesia.
in any case lament is a very useful sword to have
I still can't use it though
exo guardians are just like a normal human/awoken guardian, the guardian is first risen from the last reset of the exo and then they just get rezzed like anyone else for deaths after that (atleast to my knowledge)
Well why didn’t they just bring cayde back then
Just boot him up in a new body
Or do they not have his mindscan
Fair
Because it would be a functionally different person. A mortal Exo with no memories.
Not to mention that the DSC isn't functional.
So no new exos can be made
No Light, either.
Not currently. Not since the Golden Age, bar one exception of a prototype for Rasputin.
wasnt pre guardian exo cayde still a bit of a douche bag?
Sometimes.
Well he tried to shoot a kid so
like i said completely different to guardian cayde
He was working security at Bray Exoscience/Eventide and shot at Micah when she was sneaking around or something
Cayde has had many lives. He wasn't always the same person.
So cayde as human is a separate being than exo cayde
And he’s different
https://www.ishtar-collective.net/categories/book-the-man-they-call-cayde
this lore book also is a good representation of retrograde amnesia's effect on Cayde
Than guardian cayde
Nature vs Nurture. Cayde was similar at his core, but his experiences shaped each reset. He wasn't the same person reset to reset.
Just like any other Exo.
Got it
Cayde's journal was what helped define him as who we knew.
Anywho I've got to work
Have fun
Im
tality
who is Huginn and Muninn
Finally mustered up the cares to do my seasonal stuff and came across two ahamkara (?) bones
By day the frolic, and the dance by night.
—
The wish-dragons took to the air one final time, soaring nimbly between the pillars on wings of prismatic light. Sjur Eido watched their pale, sinuous reflections sweep across the surface of the geodes.
It had been many years since Huginn and Muninn first arrived in the city as a nameless pair, full ...
apparently they were a pair of ahamkara that were close to Sjur Eido but were killed by her during the Great Hunt
what did Saint do to become a legend
Jasleen was nine cycles old. She stared out from the top of a hill across a blasted, ashen landscape. This morning, this had been her village. Before the Fallen Ketch and its Walkers arrived. Those were equally ruined, reduced to a trio of smoldering, metallic husks at the center of town.
But Jasleen was alive, and so were her parents, and her n...
and what about Osiris
there's a reason why there has never been a Titan more beloved by the people than him
and is there a legendary Hunter? or is it Cayde? nobody?
he was considerably powerful (like Saint)
until sagira died I assume
but he was more infamous than famous
people called him the "Mad Warlock" for a reason
his prophecies and his inability to handle the unrest they caused led to him being exiled
Shin Malphur I suppose? Though not exactly in the same way as Saint and Osiris
we dont talk about Bruno?
Saint and Osiris were the first vanguards of their respective classes
Tallulah Fairwind was the first Hunter Vanguard, though we don't have a lot of info about her (especially because she's dead)
does drifter have a class
in fact, Osiris was the only original vanguard who was still alive until Dawn when we did some timeline-welding fuckery to bring Saint back
no
Eris?
"rogue" Lightbearer
ghost killed?
yep
man we need to stop bringing ghosts into the open
Many a Hunter has tried to make a name for themselves - apparently the subclass seems full of individuals who try for it - such as Marcus Ren, Cayde-6, Tallulah Fairwind, and others, usually in a horrible blaze of glory
Cayde didnt make a name?!?!
well he was a Hunter Vanguard so he did make one
Eris’ Ghost sacrificed herself as the Hive were tracking her Light in the Hellmouth iirc
The Hunter Vanguard position? After getting revenge for his friend’s death by Taniks’ hands, which we had to then reavenge kind because Taniks didn’t die, and then again in Rise of Iron, then again in Beyond Light when he was again resurrected through technology albeit this time the Exo tech in the Deep Stone Crypt’s orbital facility
why can our guardian solo the universe yet so many other guardians cant handle Ads
Tommy and Ghost are another one
Cayde lost to Ads for christ sake
all Guardians have the same potential, but not all of them can reach it
We can’t! We go in raids with full teams and also strikes, and we don’t “solo” the gods we face, we generally cripple them via strategic weak points in the systems maintaining their power such as their tithe systems or other such things
looks more like he won to me
We’re just pretty handy and pretty lucky
it was the Barons who did him in
Don’t tell me you haven’t died to ads
not in a common mission like Caydes
Suuuuure
They definitely died to ads in a common mission
bro used a golden gun on Ads
I think its almost impossible unless you stand still and do nothing
But you don’t really care if you die and have to resurrect on a regular run, right? “It’s nothing, it’s probably fine”. That was the same thinking Cayde had gotten into when pulling Sundance out, and he’s been risen longer than us, held secrets in for a really long time and never felt okay sharing them until he literally died, to which he recorded multiple voice messages for whoever might’ve killed him even if he was close to them
Point is, Cayde made a name for himself even just taking on the Vanguard Dare and taking his position in the Vanguard’s leadership
wait, why have we never faced an enemy who can destroy our ghost
As well as his death inspiring The Guardian’s rampage across the Reef
Holy shit that brought me back to yestraday. I got a perk of something that said when your low health you cause electric shock to enemies and wanted to try it so I strod there for 10 minutes and then they got shocked
red war was the closest we got
Because we’re very by the books as a baseline for The Guardian
It just doesn’t happen because The Guardian isn’t gonna risk it
havnt we killed the people who killed cayde
and if bullets of sorrow can kill ghost, why havnt any of the gods weve killed used them
the durability of a ghost is affected by their connection to the Light
though normally, it takes overwhelming force or something paracausal to destroy one
Even if you imagine your player Guardian to be dumb enough to pull their ghost out into physical space and get shot or destroyed, in-universe that just never happens regardless
yet cayde did it for some reason
wasnt even dead and he pulled out the ghost
smh shoulda waited for recov
it is possible for more conventional weapons to kill a ghost like a Fallen Shock blade
Because he was cocky, and maybe partially suicidal
He rode the ruins of the security center down to the bottom. He’s not gonna play it safe when he can take the risky and fun route
I'd say out of the modern Vanguard trio he was the youngest
we know Zavala was around since the Dark Age
I think Ikora was around as well
vanguards seem to have the ability to use any ability they want, yet cayde never even used a heal nade
Ikora specifically can apparently use 2 different element supers in a row
healing grenades weren't a thing ingame until Season of the Haunted (years after Forsaken came out)
did cayde have an exotic armor
Lucky pants
I didnt see him hotswap once
also his aim must suck
Man
not a single time did he cause an explosion with Ace
B]
Something like that.
did you see the comment I made a while back about ur beast tamer build?
Uh maybe
I honestly don't remember
Aztec posted a vid about a build from Build battles
I think it was just ur Beast tamer
Mael's here again, you knwo what that means
Fall into a ravine
?
