We can do that with literally any gun due to our inherently paracausal nature.
Heck, someone entirely causal could do that too. Fallen Arc Spears have sheared Ghosts in half before.
Pirrha simply used a special bullet to ensure success.
It was a modified Devourer round akin to that from the true original Thorn - meaning it likely would have killed Cayde-6 outright, for good, if he himself was shot - even if Sundance survived.
now that i think about it, lucent oryx probably wouldnt have his ghost out most of the time.
so we cant snipe it
also, this is Xita?
Mama's big.
Anyone on
also what's in that box thing? havent done Vow before
hey buddy, i see you're new! use the LFG channels if you want to play with some people.
Well, we're online in the Discord here talking about lore, if that's what you mean.
Do you have a lore question?
Wrong room
The Upended is a doomsday device of some type. It isn't entirely clear what it does, but we know it's bad.
nom nom
reverse nom nom
The further into the Raid you go, the more burned and charred her body becomes
Until, after Rhulk is defeated, she lies still... smoking and deceased. Like in your picture.
In a way. It seems to be the Upended that killed Xita, really.
the symbol on the upended, it's like a witness symbol. is it just that or is there anything interesting about it?
That's pretty much it. It's strongly tied to the Witness and Rhulk but I don't personally know any deeper meaning.
Answering questions about lore is quite literally the reason I joined this server
which was... before the launch of destiny 2 what the hell ?
hol up that was your discord join date my bad
when shaxx says, "you fought like a titan of the first pillar"
what does he mean by the first pillar?
The First Pillar are one of the Titan Orders. We don't know much about them in particular, but they're known for being the "first line of defense against any crisis."
They've been present for events such as the Great Disaster
the great disaster?
Aye, the greatest loss of Guardian life until the Red War
Hundreds of Guardians lost their lives in an all out war against Crota and his brood on the surface of the Moon.
Lord Shaxx tried to warn us off it, but we still went in. One of the Guardians who died there was Wei Ning. Her partner, Eriana-3, was so vengeful she formed a Fireteam to try and assassinate Crota - the same fireteam Eris Morn was a part of when she still had her Light, as they delved into the Hellmouth.
We know of very few specific members. There's... Gunnvor, off the top of my head.
have they been shown in any cutscenes?
No
jesus forget how old eris is . how old is shaxx?
Lord Shaxx was active in the early Dark Ages, so an unspecified amount of centuries.
iirc eris lost her light hundreds of years ago
dark ages?
Aye. After the Collapse came the Dark Ages. Living in villages, huddling in the dark, hiding from Eliksni and human raiders, Warlord Lightbearers... a time of starvation, poverty, sickness.
lore wise im completely new but the collapse is the thing the witness did right?
The Black Fleet/Witness/Nezarec/Darkness
The end of Golden Age humanity
Of our system wide settlement, our technological advances
who is eliksni?
Fallen
It's their actual species name
oh
if shaxx is like centuries old
are guardians basically immortal with their light?
Correct!
Lord Saladin is just as old, perhaps older. Drifter, too.
Zavala, Saint-14, both Dark Ages as well - though Zavala is a bit younger. Osiris is similar.
btw whats the lore behind saladin?
Lord Saladin has had quite a lot of lore. He's been around for many centuries.
Technically not, actually, though that's what he's known as
hang on do you mind if i speak this bit i'm tired of typing
one moment
sure...
how much money for you to read me a bedtime story
what a classic tale
i like the headcanon that it's the foundation of the Thundercrash
Same
ngl i need to know this too
She returned for the Red War and killed 216 Cabal with 199 bullets, while Lightless
Efrideet rules
lightless?
bruh how the hell she lost her light?
Indeed
Dominus Ghaul and the Red Legion had built a giant cage for the Traveler, which blocked her Light to all Guardians
That was the Red War
Every single Guardian was left Lightless, and the Red Legion took control of the Last City
oh yea i forgot
If it wasn't for us seeking out the Shard of the Traveler in the EDZ and getting our Light back from that, we would never have won
We specifically didn't, no
I'm sure the Vanguard and other Hunters did
ah
i still wonder how the hive got that one little shard in d1
im still wondering how did that europa statue clovis used even get there in the first place
he used it to give humanity the exos power up, but no one questioned how suspicious that was
it just looks evil
i mean the point is he was in complete control of whoever interacted with it, right?
also the witness just gave it to him
anyway he'd regularly wipe the memory of exos who bothered him too much and the security measures of eventide boil down to shoot on site or cause a nuclear chain reaction that destroys the entirety of europa if the facility is compromised
im not questioning that, i know he did. he was pretty metal with it too
the wonder is the how, exactly
"hey yall, i finally unlocked the secret to immortality from this evil ass statue that just randomly appeared one day"
watch it be the final shape
the women = the traveler + the veil cloaking her, well the veil = suppressing the traveler
the fact is he never told anyone
I liked that because it explained why we were the ones who had to do everything.
bigass statue
In D1 it was like the world was ending and no one cared but you lol
Are sunsingers and bladedancers still around or are they not present just for gameplay reasons?
its the apocalypse, the tower remains unharmed
it fact i think it looks cleaner even
shit, good question
id be calling myself godkiller
the human eradicator
santa clause
the lord of the rings
i got so many jokes but
it wont end well for me
its like how we build machines of war, battleships, tanks, fighter jets
their literal purpose is to kill and spread as much death as possible
but we "consider sensitivities" when naming them
so we get lame shit like USS Colorado
what are you even talking about
i mean it's not a him and it's comprised of the butchered corpses of an entire civilization
probably some of the more powerful individuals forced the others into suicide
yeah the process included mountains of bodies
who knows, maybe all of them were nihilistic
it was self inflicted genocide
so each one is indistinguishable from any other
so its like a cat
cat got 9 lives, just gotta do it 9 times
what
so with witness, I better gotta kill each one separately
no
so just once
it's one entity now
lol
we don't even know if you can kill it
it being one entity makes being comprised of an entire civilizations meaningless
i don't really get what you mean
yeah we call it an it
because it's just some thing
rather than a normal individual
in the US Navy you refer to ships as Her
Navy ships are not humans
must be black magic
i really don't get what you're getting at but if it's some stupid commentary on pronouns i don't care for it
im talking about the lore
the flood merge biomass to form the gravemind
no one refers to the gravemind as its collective hive mind
I am a timeless chorus. Join your voice with mine, and sing victory everlasting. - the first one that began merging them all
i do miss the days when we could talk about the things we enjoyed using simple words for simplicities sake since we all were smart enough to know what it obviously infers
Donāt start dude
Pretty sure you already got muted over this kinda shit
Use the correct term and stop whining about it
the fucking disrespect
has nothing to do with you, literally a videogame character that isnt real, but fuck me though right
The Witness refers to itself as We, not I
If you're going to use something other than It you should use They
its not that deep
but its not up to me, is it. if i dont like it, too bad?
i just have to do as im told, use the correct term and stop whining about it
Yeah
but its you thats constantly bringing it up and literally "whining" about what other players do
āŗļø
Yeah its not that deep
There are correct words to use and you're just wrong
Basically yes
lol
Iām living in broās head rent free fr
That would be awesome please and ty
if you expect me to agree, you should also be cool with it if i dont
that would only be fair, right
People tend to bring up when others say incorrect information in the Lore Discussion channel, surprisingly
sure, but im not rude nor use it to be shitty to people that dont agree
You should be cool with it if the regulars here donāt engage with you then since they know youāre rude and hostile and engaging in bad faith
the whiplash
maybe "just stop whining about it"
Iām living in broās head rent free fr
Sis
Honestly I do not give a skaven's ass if you agree, the fact is that you're refusing to even consider being wrong.
And before you say "oh you haven't considered that either" I consider being wrong every single time this stupid "debate" comes up, and every single time, literally every single person agrees yeah It or They are correct
You have a right to say what you want
So do I
Stop whining about other people using the same privileges as you
i agree
So we both agree you're wrong, cool we're done here
Byebye :)
so imma keep calling the witness whatever i want, yeah?
Why
It's on your on
because its not up to you
you dont see me telling you what to say or not say
Donāt be surprised when people here donāt engage with you then since they know you behave like this
the arrogance
i respect you the same way i respect myself
so you get the same freedoms i think i deserve
thats just being fair
Fluent in Yapanese
back to being just fucking rude
isnt bizarre preaching using "proper terms" on people when you cant even show proper respect yourself
Weāve recovered from the apocalypse, itās been a good couple centuries since
Also carbon, this again?
@heavy vortex
Better to just not engage with them if this is a recurring thing in their interactions
the obvious and easy solution is dont create issues where there is none, right
Third time might learn you something
youre all pretty full of yourselves after getting use to running to the mods and getting your way, arent ya
Anyways
Yeah thatās enough
Lore, wonder if thereās any genuine lore questions instead of purposefully obtuse and confrontational discussions
To answer this question, I believe essentially all Cabal forces consolidated into the Red Legion, as Ghaul had just consolidated his power into one legion, which is why they donāt appear again after D2
Thatās conjecture on my part, though thereās probably some entry explaining such; could also just be a similar case to Sol Divisive, in that the Red Legion just became prominently involved with the Sol System and weāre the sole legion within the Sol System, but thereās not really a direct statement of that being the case
Also to clarify on what terms we refer to the Witness with, āItā and āWeā are the most commonly used in-universe, which is why we refer to it as such, though generally itās not an issue if āhe/himā is used so long as there is understanding with being corrected
The Witness is named as such because, supposedly, it āwitnessedā the truth of the universe, as well as the path to Salvation
Of course, in viewing Ahsaās inkblot cutscene which gives insight into the origins of the Witness, what this really means is that the civilization that the Witness once was (literally, it is a conglomeration of all the members of a species) collectively came to the final conclusion of nihilism: that there is no inherent meaning to life, there is no programmed or imparted reason to exist
"Before you can confront The Witness, you must understand it."

In coming to this conclusion after their civilization prospered with the Traveler/Gardenerās blessing, they asked her what is the meaning of life, but just like our Speaker, like many others who offer the Traveler their woes, she was silent
The video I posted also continues to elaborate what they did from there, and how that lead to its genocidal warpath in trying to capture the Traveler
Tbh we donāt know
Some theorise it could be something to do with the planets encounter in RoN but
Thanks Eris
Ahsa belongs to the species which the Worm Gods originally were a part of, themselves being somewhat warped by the Witnessā Darkness and by wholly succumbing to their hunger
In fact, in season of the Witch, Ahsa serves as Erisā worm for the ritual which gives tithe to her Hive form
ā
Titan's methane oceans roiled. Saturn's crushing gravity caused massive tidal waves to surge across the moon's surface.
In the comforting blackness beneath the waves, the tides swelled and contracted like the breath of a great beast. Within that churn of elemental forces, the proto-worm Ahsa slumbered.
She was not "asleep" in any sense her ...
Oh! Itās almost April Fools. Wonder what Ishtar Collective is going to do this year, since last year was Fish
Hopefully it's a showing of Ishtar running on repeat for 24 hours.
Lore-accurate Guardian vs Green Lantern (from the comics, not the heavily nerfed version from movies/series) is actually a fair fight
the Guardians of the Green Lantern Corps would stomp though
Theyāll make another warmind and put it in a bow
Itās. Kinda? But also not really. Yes, we use the Light to create intractable physical objects via our emotes, but Green Lanterns utilize that hardlight capability much more than a Guardian does
hard counters
no contest

Yeah, but Guardians are pretty OP in lore (because, for starters, they don't have the limitations that were added for gameplay)
Though counterpoint: we can just shoot them
Hasn't worked like that for more than 10 years
Green Lanterns can tank basically anything as long as they have enough willpower, including bullets.
Well no, because generally most Guardians are less capable than The Guardian; we sit somewhere in a higher percentile being able to handle multiple elemental subclasses, as well as the Darkness subclasses
Though generally, Guardians are also taught how to encase their bullets with Light as part of their training
The Guardian vs Green Lantern
In any significant named Green Lanternās case, they are more likely to easy sweep The Guardian
Their powers are on constantly, whereas ours are passively charged until we utilize it
Aren't Guardians able to basically spam their abilities? (As well as use Light however they want) Cooldowns are basically just gameplay limitations.
Plus weāre not undefeatable, Immaru even commented as such during Festival of the the Lost
i dont really take any merit into whatever immaru says tbh
Neither are Green Lanterns
like obviously we're not invincible but anything out of his mouth is just an attempt to feel better about himself
No, that is something my which has been present in lore entries for a while; Iād like to cite uhhhh New Light guyās battle where he did Gun-Well of Radiance, but generally we cannot spam abilities or supers without serious damage exhaustion
Its why Osiris was so legendary a Guardian aside from navigating the Infinite Forest, because he genuinely could spam supers from multiple subclasses during the Battle of Six Fronts
All while projecting copies of himself to do the same via Vex technology
was that confirmed to be vex tech
I need to read the entry about him doing that, but I assume Vex tech since we know that 1) they can create simulated copies of others, and 2) Cayde got a teleporter from them in Red War, which mightāve been the same type of technology that Osiris used to make himself present across the Six Fronts
And also Osiris is known for researching the Vex
I mean yes, but consider how differently the two factions fight; Green Lanterns generally have the full ability to create whatever construct they want just having a fully charged ring which functions properly. Guardians utilize their abilities and weapon prowess to take down smaller groups of enemies and whistle down enemy forces and resources, only utilizing their Supers in crisis or for major damage against a more durable target. A Green lantern can just make a boxed in trash compactor around The Guardian and crush em
Itās certainly possible for The Guardian to win, but itās gonna be worse than underleveled Grandmaster Nightfall
Weāre not entirely that powerful either, just extremely well-rounded for a Lightbearer. Ikora, Saint-14, or Osiris back when he had the Light would technically be more powerful than us
I do not know how green lanters work but some of our weapons are more than just bullets
Now that I think what is the strongest weapon we have? And how actually strong malfeansance is?
It is just explosive slugs, not that much else
The Cabalās skyburners do about the same
It's explosive slugs imbued with Taken Blight that resonate and detonate when enough are in proximity
Malfeasanceās lore tab even suggests that itās not all that powerful, not on its own (but with several other malfeasancesā¦)
It's a bit more than Skyburners
Yeah that is why I was thinking lore wise it was stronger, considering is power source is a primeval heart
Thatās fair, but I still think a Lanternās constructs would blow us out of the water unless we trained beforehand to also utilize our own Light constructs

One of the original Consensus factions, who were exiled from the City after a failed coup that New Monarchy (ironically) suppressed
Both, apparently
On the skimmer lore tab, actually. They're the ones who gave it to us.
A peace offering, it seems.
Probably want to come back to the tower
And the City itself
They were exiled

Does everyone get paid in glimmer, or is it just Guardians that use it?
Yeah everyone uses it
It's the city's currency
A good example is spider
The programmable matter called 'Glimmer' serves as one of the City's basic currencies. With the right inputs and an energy source, Glimmer can be transmuted into nearly anything. This makes it precious to the City's industries and artisans. That value, in turn, makes Glimmer a useful means of exchange - especially with those who venture beyond t...
He's always talking about how he can make glimmer
New Glimmer comes from reclaimed Golden Age caches and technology - whether a tiny mechanism or an underground lode seeded by ancient machines.
...is there a contingency for when the golden age caches run out?
Well, Glimmer seems to be able to, uh... grow. Considering that it's mined out of the ground.
But no, not really.
have to question the wisdom behind making their currency something that has a wide variety of practical functions
like there's a reason no one's currency is like, steel
I mean
You know we're post apocalyptic right
The Last City is in desperate need of raw materials
all the more reason why glimmer should not be something used as a currency
and stay in the hands of its tradesmen, industries, etc
We kill enemies and get glimmer, do we just have a matter converter in our pockets that turns parts of their desiccated remains into glimmer?
your average citizen shouldn't be holding onto it
It's also only one of our currencies
Some things are just gameplay
silver
Silver is a real currency yes
Darn. I wish everything had a proper lore justification and some things werenāt just ābecause they areā.
gameplay-lore segregation in destiny seems really bad
Hardly
it's not a naughty dog game that's for sure
Destiny explains most things very very well
On the contrary
Eris jumpscare
Itās surprising just how many random stuff is explained in lore
Aaaahh!
Some people argue it's too much
We know all the random shit but none of the really deep meaningful stuff
is there lore behind what the various currencies are used for by the average city citizens?
Idk probably not
Not much, no. They're not really relevant to us. We find glimmer and barter with it, and that's therefore the currency we personally deal with.
That part specifically is just gameplay with the new New Light stuff
We used to just learn them

Ok, so if that psion during chosen had killed Zavala, that's end of the line for blue baldy?
Also, what's the difference between losing connection to the light, and literally losing your light?
I'm not sure I understand the question
The Red War had all Guardians lose their connection to the Light, but it was restored once the Traveler was Fred
...
Okay
Sure
Fred it is
Fred
Do you mean the difference between smth like zavala's ghost being suppressed by the thingy and like, the squad of 9 who had their light extracted from the by the hive?
Fred, the Traveler
let's go with, yes
because that's probably what I mean
I'll circle back to that once I can gather my thoughts
In other news, "nice boots"
Zavala lost his Light because of a mini cage for stinky baby Ghosts
But once that cage was gone he was dandy
But if his Light, his spark, was removed... or his Ghost, for example...

He may survive but he'll be a mortal smurf
Interesting
As opposed to Lord Emperor Immortal Smurf

zavala is known for being a smurf with a huge forehead

Tex Mechanica once tried to bribe Lord Shaxx to rig the Crucible matches and make their guns seem superior
So he sent his personal Redjack, Arcite 99-40, to dissuade them and threatened to send a fireteam of Titans through their roof.
Tex Mechanica?
Isnāt that a weapon foundry?
Ohh
Exactly
That makes sense
What did Shaxx respond with?
What does this mean? We get elaboration upon species who we encounter as well as those we don't even get to see, some who have been made extinct; PLUS character stories for both those we get to see in the main stories and the ones who don't
for real
Huh. Does the beginning of the game change if you make a new character vs importing one from D1?
you can't import characters from D1
as as of currently, the new character experience is always the Cosmodrome stuff
I could have sworn you could. What am I thinking of...
āWe know that, just like us, you have grown fond of the Guardians youāve created, so we do plan to preserve your character personalization,ā Bungie said. āWe are going to recognize the dedication and passion youāve shown for this world. Specifically, the class, race, gender, face, hair, and marking selections for all characters that have achieved Level 20 and completed the Black Garden story mission will carry forward. We also plan to award those veteran accounts with honors that reflect your Destiny 1 accomplishments.ā
So this was BS?
I distinctly remember, many years ago when I tried D2 a little bit, starting the game with a character that at least looked exactly like my D1 did. Maybe that is a hallucination from my geriatric brain though.
as far as I know, this amoutned to emblems, unique dialogue, and I think a transmat effect
maybe the character creation stuff applied, but I wouldn't know
I do not remember doing any of this cosmodrone stuff before.
but that may well be because i am oldge
yeah
Cosmodrome came back in Beyond Light
right
To my recollection, there was no reason to believe my character at the start of D2 was a new character, and not the continued adventures of my first one.
And no, it wasn't BS
They just haven't worried about it since BL as it'd been years by then
Anyone coming from D1 had largely already made their character
Which makes more sense to me anyway as our D2 ghost has the same voice actor and, well, overall personality.
What was twilight gap?
major Battle that took place in the famous Crucible map
a while ago, the main Fallen Houses all united to try and attack the Last City
the House of Devils, Winter, and Kings were all involved
the House of Wolves were going to join up (and if they did it would have been bad for us) however Mara Sov intervened and completely destroyed 3 Ceres (the largest Asteroid in the Asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter) where their main base of operations was.
as a result, this started the Reef Wars where the Awoken fought agains tthe House of Wolves
in the end, Variks betrayed the Kell of Wolves, Skolas, who would be imprisoned by Mara until he was later released by the Nine which led to the events of the House of Wolves expansion
this expansion would be the start of our growing relationship with Mara and the Awoken
back to Twilight Gap itself, the battle would be a close victory with Shaxx disobeying direct orders from Saladin by having himself and his fireteam stay behind to fight off the Fallen
during this battle, Ana Bray would use it as an opportunity to fake her death so she could further pursue the secrets of Clovis Bray and Rasputin unhindered
Saladin and Shaxx's relationship would be left in shambles
Shaxx would be inspired to remake the Crucible into a place for Guardians to forge themselves into stronger warriors
Saint-14 would hunt down and kill the Devil's Kell, Solkis, by headbutting him so hard his head exploded
and that would lead to the Kings secretly taking over the Devils
and Crux/Lomar would create the Gjallarhorn rocket launcher out of the armor of Guardians who fell during the battle and give them to the battle's survivors to honor them
so basically Twilight Gap was a very influential event in the game's lore
given that the battle's approach was what directly led to the Reef Wars which itself already had a large impact on the story
along with the direct effects of Twilight Gap itself
no
Splicers from the House of Devils were the ones using SIVA
Whatās all the stuff about house light?
House Light was established by Mithrax some time after the Red War
Where did Mithrax come from
I believe he originated from the wolves
Also, did the house of kings become the scorn in warlords ruin? (Emblem)
he would start his own crew where he would commit some heinous acts
yes
The Witness would turn some of her dead friends into Scorn
and then send her to Seraph Station where her SPlicers would work to try and take control over Rasputin's warsat network
at the end of Seraph, she would take control of these Warsats and try to use them against the Traveler, however, Rasptuin would initiate Aurora Sacrifce foiling her plans
she would also be confused as to why the Traveler isn't running away
then in Defiance, she would warn Mithrax not to try and save a bunch of Shadow Legion prisoners kept in a specifc cave
of course, this was the mission where Amanda Holliday died and Mithrax himself would barely escape the explosion thanks to Eramis
fast forward to now, and Eramis has decided to abandon her vendetta against us and instead left Sol to find her mate, Arthys
So sheās not dead
not currently
and to elaborate more on Mithrax's upbringing
his mother was a part of the House of Weavers which we believe became the House of Wolves
like how the Dancers became the Devils
Reply fail lmaooooo
anyways
Thatās in my photos now
"Saint-14 would hunt down and kill the Devil's Kell, Solkis, by headbutting him so hard his head exploded" beautiful.
so Mithrax's mother, Inaaks, would be forced to adopt two hatchlings from Eramis (not her hatchlings to clarify)
Solkis more like no more skullkis
these two hatchlings would be Siviks and Rakis (Spider)
and they would be protective older brothers to Mithrax
eventually, Inaaks would discover the Moon Pyramid and find Nezarec's corpse within where she would cut up the body and takes parts from it
Explain all of this in great detail
yes, but adopted, he found her in a crashed skiff following a bloody battle between Awoken and Wolves
during the Reef Wars I believe
so these pieces of Nezarec would be scattered among the old crews (Fallen pirates unaffiliated with the houses)
Innaks would keep a finger and give it to Mithrax
then Mithrax would be influenced by it
becoming a cruel captain
eventually marooning his entire crew including Siviks and Spider
after an incident where he killed an entire group of human prisoners just because his crew disagreed with him
After seeing how distraught Inaaks was of this, Mithrax would be ashamed of his past
then at some point, he would be captured by Sjur Eido and would decide to join the Awoken during the Reef Wars
which was when he discovered Eido (yes he named Eido after Sjur Eido) in that wrecked skiff
then fast forward much later and we would encounter Mithrax on Titan where he would evade and outsmart us
in the end, we would find him fighting a lone Hive knight where we would choose to either kill him and the knight or just the knight
it is assumed that the canon outcome was that we killed the knight only
and that event would be what inspires Mithrax to start the House of Light where he would have a fireteam of his own consisting of himself and two guardians
he would also enlist our help in stopping Eramis from stealing Outbreak Perfected from the old Last City Tower
he would continue to develop his house behind the scenes until Season of the Splicer where we invite the House of Light into the city in exchange for their assistance
Is season of the splicer about the devil splicers?
And was that when we got outbreak?
splicer was a long time after the whole outbreak thing
splicer was our first alliance with mithrax and his house of light, with the goal of avoiding a vex incursion on the city in some way or other
in the words of d2, stop a vex simulation from engulfing the last city
and ending with a climax killing the Future War Cult syndicate leader, Lakshmi-2, for planning a coup against the Vanguard leadership and opening a Vex portal in the middle of the newly-built Eliskni quarter
as she had seen a future where Eliksni in the city led to the destruction of the Last City
This also led to all 3 syndicates, FWC, New Monarchy and Dead Orbit to be expelled from the Last City, as all 3 were in on the whole coup thing
This was also during the year where Osiris was actually Savathun under a disguise, so there were some shenanigans relating to that as well mixed in there
Yeah they just dipped
shame, i liked their drip a lot more than the crucible gear we have now
they DIED (REAL) [police called] 3AM NEW MONARCHY POTION!

what's up guys, gliminity here, back to bring you another BANGER we bought this ghost potion off the black garden and we're gonna use it to talk to the new monarchy
Had a question, lore-wise can our guardian do back-to-back supers and abilities like we've seen/heard other guardians do?
From what I know in the lore, our character cannot
From what I understand of the lore... we can
Cooldowns have been seen in the lore
A Hunter tries to use Golden Gun and then remembers they already just used it and canāt
Itās probably something more to do with discipline and training than an arbitrary actual cooldown though
āBut Eris, Discipline is for grenade cooldown, not super!ā
The giant creature pulls back its other fist and its steel muscles bunch. I reach for the Light and get⦠nothing? Huh. Right. I used my flaming gun on those three Taken outside the obelisk. Gotta learn to count.
What I love about my Ghostā```
for reference
Ah I see
There aren't any specific references to our Guardian, as what our Guardian can do... depends on you! As the player.
So we can assume that guardians like Ikora and Osiris are able to do this because they have been wielding the light for much longer.
*this being ability spam
That is a large part of it, yes, but they're also very disciplined.
For example, Drifter is even older than both of them.
However, we've never seen him use his Light for more than (poorly) cauterising a wound or setting his jade coins alight.
But yes, Osiris and Ikora are both centuries old.
blud burned a goldie on three red bar taken and then died superless to the boss, i think thats a skill issue
Oops chat just now loaded for me
Dude you should see the weird choices that other guardians have made in the lore its kind of wild
Sooo
Whatās the deal with the Psions?
I feel like their story still hasnāt wrapped up imo
Honestly Iād say itās wrapped up but itās hard to tell
have the power to wield untold destruction
use it for magic tricks
least based drifter moment
"Ding"
I mean thatās canonically how emotes work
Damn
Some do, but if they work might be a different case
Osiris has sunbracers with ornaments
O
Shaw han has young ahamkara spine
He doesnt use solar anymore
While he nearly killed off oryx' entire bloodline single handedly
Ah ok
Lmao
Fynch disagrees btw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGCvY9hF46s&themeRefresh=1
Idle Dialogue from Fynch, a Hive Ghost, in Savathƻn's Throne World.
**
Fynch: So this Pyramid weapon scours the Light, but the Hive never used one... Tells me the Witness never trusted them with it. What other surprise has he got?

Fynch, Hive Ghost ā Idle Dialogue (SavathĆ»n's Throne World) Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=...
I'm unsure fynch knows more about the witness than the witness
But more than us
š
Uke, donāt engage with this guy
They already got warned/muted over a transphobic profile
Just scrolled up the the convo
I was about to
They also already tried to create an argument over this exact topic already
Off topic
Im reporting
Anyhow, drifter
Do we know what pelt he uses?
There's few animals left after the collapse
@sick yew just to let you know, this stasis guy is trying to cause an argument again over something you already warned them to drop before

Why did Eris get rid of Xivu's throne world instead of ending her?
Also can Xivu not rebuild a throne world?
@sick yew
Probably because there was a limit to what she could do given Xivuās power
And Iād assume Xivu canāt just build another one, or Erisā plan would be nothing more than a useless gesture
Please don't talk about mod actions in chat
My b, sorry
killing Xivu wouldāve cemented Eris as a new hive god falling into the constant cycle of death and rebirth forever
her exact words were āthis is the rejection of your sad legacyā
Umm...Carbon is the one that's muted, the other one isn't.
how do you even kill a hive god then. is it impossible?
We killed Oryx so no
no but the point is Eris was not going to kill her
unless we actually ventured into Xivuās throne world she wouldnāt really be dead
and at that point Eris would be too far gone in her status as the hive god of vengeance to come back
this is just the best outcome
Morning Cryptarchs
goodbye now I have responsibilities
So, Throneworlds
As you might know, Hive can gather Ascendent Power/Energy, which allows them to do funny Hive Magic shenanigans. One such shenanigans is having a domain of their own passively forming within the Ascendent Plane once they have become powerful enough; as the Ascendent Plane is a funky weird spirit plane to reality, they are able to dictate the ārulesā of their Throneworld as well as expand it as they continue to accrue Ascendent Power. One benefit aside from being an extremely broken arena that the individual Hive can exploit, the Throneworld also allows them to essentially respawn within it once they have died in the regular world; however, should they die in their Throneworld, the Hive will die a final death, as we had done with Crota and with Oryx.
Oryxās is a weird exception as he had essentially turned it inside out and made it the interior of the Dreadnaught, but Crotaās is a perfect example:
In his Throneworld, Crota could not be harmed by anything save for his swordbearersā swords, as he held the Sword Logic (and his literal sword) in higher regard than himself
It's worth noting that hive gods aren't gods in the "living manifestations of concepts and ideas" sense
Theyāre kinda yes like that but they are also very much just powerful individuals of their species; they are somewhat forced to pursue the domain they are god of due to the esoteric nature by which the worms feed, but that only makes them unique among their species (ex Savathunās worm fed off of cunning, so she would have to consistently trick others and just do mindfuckery stuff to feed it)
Like half gods
Oh shit mb didn't know a mod did that
Will not mention convo again
Starve them to death and do a home invasion, basically
Hive gods die permanently if you kill them in their throne world.
Anyways, the other reason why Eris opted to lock Xivu outside of her Throneworld - aside from rejecting the cyclic violence of the Sword Logic - is that Xivu is essentially mortal now, and she no longer has her revive point to return from
However, since they write the rules inside said throne, that's a bit difficult to just FUCK IT, WE BALL and walk straight in
Thatās a good point, in that tearing down their tithing structure significantly weakens Hive higher up on the pyramid
Yea it's how we killed oryx

Or well
Yes, I did cover this
It was necessary
Unfortunately for everyone involved I am dumb and gay and my brain is too full of women to also focus on media literacy

Ironically, Oryxās Throneworld followed the Sword Logic to a T, which unfortunately meant that he was perfectly welcoming to being killed by any who proved themselves more powerful

No thoughts, head full
Bit of expansion on this, the reason we have to use hive swords in Crota's End is because he set up the Custom Game Lobby to give them +bazillion% damage, since he believes the Sword Logic is everything there is to life.
I can relate
ong women are just too epic gameing to NOT think about
Thatās also why I theorize that Oryx either fully believes he is dead or is staying dead out of respect for the Sword Logic, despite his body being preserved and continuing to grow
It's also ironic then that we defeated oryx with bombs.

STAR I JUST EXPLAINED THIS
Intentionally ironic in hindsight
We proved that the sword logic is not superior, in a sense
Through bomb logic, figuratively and literally
The Scarlet Hive idk the name wanted to try and rez him, and they were like 99% sure he'd try and exterminate all of them for trying.
Savathuns brood, the lucent hive
No, there were the Scarlet Keep brood who were trying to resurrect Oryx using the Pyramid
Wait a sec. I couldnt have my username. So u cant either
Oh
Their logic (hehe get it) was that either Oryx slaughtered them all, proving oryx was fit to rule, or THEY killed ORYX, meaning they no longer needed him.
This actually makes sense?
Thank @jagged badge for reporting mine
Kinda?

I suppose
Iād have to read up on Shadowkeep lore again but I think that was the explanation? Which definitely fits
It's a really weird way of thinking yea
(Also don't begin with them star, trust me, it won't end.)
But I can see how the hive of all people would think that way
It doesn't exactly not make sense
Yea I was here the first time lul
Too bad the Scarlet Keep brood were a side thing to our exploration of the Pyramids
So I suppose it does make sense
It was a LITERALLY RED herring for the pyramid lmfao
I would hate a Nightmare Oryx
You what?š¤Ø
Ironically theyāre perfectly media literate, itās just reading literacy they were struggle with
Dude look at my bio and ingame status I'm fully open about this
I was too
š
With that, I agree. However
Very funny but we gotta reign it back in
Is zavala Saint 14
No, Saint-14 is Saint-14
I can't even comprehend your bio
Nonsense
He could just be running very fast between the courtyard and hangar and putting on a helmet with a funny accent
Do we ever see them in the same place at the same time?
Yes, there have been a couple cutscenes where all major Guardians are gathered, such as I believe Lightfall
Damb guess my game theory makes no sense whatsoever after all, byf was right all along
Considering Zavala had a wife and adopted kid and Saint is with Osiris, I doubt they wouldāve been the same person
Bi
Fair, but also he was extremely not over his wife as was apparent with Season of the Haunted
And seeing how both Sadiyah and Osiris just (effectively) died, he would be Bi Himself
So true
Yea I know I'm 100% joking zavala isn't Saint 14
He couldn't run fast enough to get to the hangar in timr
I am brain-ned
Saint is netlimiting
I mean of course he is, he plays trials
Ok, serious question now
Shoot
Does a Guardian's class have anything to do with what they did/were like in their past life?
Eeehhhh vaguely
Not necessarily
There's the uh
We have no confirmation but a bunch of anecdotes
Whats the word
There's two parts that make up a person
How they're born and how they grow up
The latter is kinda gone when a guardian is made
Crow is obviously a hunter because like yeah of course he is
A blank slate
Nurture/Nature
There are certainly specific characteristics associated with members of each class, which who you were before could play into, but itās not entirely set
That's the bitch
So that means most Titans were born dumb?
Thereās also the fact that there are no real boundaries between the classes, as Shaw Han can attest to with his Gun Well of Radiance
That is how my sociology professor taught it smh so maybe YOU have the wrong order
I just identify as a warlock
Your sociology professor taught psychology?
Actually
That does make sense.
I mean you have healing nades
YES IM STILL SALTY ABOUT THAT CHAMGE
I know funny haha, but warlocks and hunters have also proven themselves dumb
Guardians are only as smart as the players
So, idiots at best
Yāknow what this is so true thank you for this
Me after melee-attacking a Screeb/Cursed Thrawl:
Intelligence is knowing that since Vegetables are a made up category by the culinary industry, you can put Tomatoes and Spicy Peppers in a fruit salad.
Wisdom is knowing YOU SHOULD NOT DO THAT
Charisma is marketing your tomato-and-pepper fruit salad as a Salsa
But yeah, thereās certain personalities that lean toward each class, but you can very much cross-pollinate between them
And I care for none of this, social norms, laws of physics, common sense, they all elude me
Felwinter did a Sentinel shoulder charge I believe, and heās a legendary Warlock
I put the pizza in the salad.
With pineapples.
Pizza on salad is legit
Die a thousand deaths.
Mmm ches
Feta
Yes Destiny
Like I mentioned, of course Uldren got rezzed as a hunter.
The personality, ideologies, etc makes the class
dying and becoming risen is essentially a factory reset
memory is wiped but framework is the same
This does mean that a person who undergoes significant change in their self can end up being a different class
But then like, Ana Bray, one of the most brilliant researchers in the history of humanity, WHO WAS SO SMART SHE TAUGHT AN AI TO FEEL HUMAN EMOTIONS, isn't a warlock.
Uldren was just inherently crafty and well-adjusted to field work
it was his personal experience that made him the jerk we knew
Like freedom
lean towards the class, but itās not wholly determined what class they chose as there are an equal spread of various personalities within Classes
And his emotionally abusive sister didn't really help
you know crow still does the pause and eye close before a confirmed kill shot
itās instinctive
I can see WHY she's a hunter, but I also still think she would fit MORE as a warlock.
However two Warlock DLCs in a row mightve made the hunter playerbase angy
Must mean his aim is steady as fuck
I mean of course it is
there was zero shake even when Cayde went āthatās why your sister dead as hellā
Managing to hit a target from a distance while closing your eyes for over a second means your aim is incredible
Her "nurture", the past, the non inherent, is the smart one presumably
The warlock
Which goes away upon your first rez
What inherently makes up your personality remains
Ana was already a Hunter before Warmind was even being cooked up
intelligence isnāt personality
Your memories are "just" certain synapse pathways firing more often. If they stop firing, say, after your brain gets disintegrated and rebuilt, you'd have to start over.
Or it's space magic, which is the canon answer because it's a conscious choice by the Traveler to make guardians New People instead of being tethered to who they were before.
you know sheās like the most skilled hacker we know
Ah yea, forgot
Being a warlock isnāt about smarts
She DPS'd at twilight gap so hard that she left permanent pools of Light.
Rumors say remnants of the dps numbers still linger
It's about hyperfixation and autism
Also during TTK we go to Twilight Gap and stave off Oryx's presence using conveniently placed pools of Light.
NOW IM NOT SAYING THOSE TWO THINGS ARE RELATED
but THOSE TWO THINGS ARE 100% RELATED
The ability to use any subclass but only using Arc because it's comfy
Wish I had that rundown on the different classes from the Cryptarchy
Me with contraverse chaos accelerant
Oh I'm p sure ghost specified its Ana's pools
Itās specifically from Ana
But anyways, to the original question: who you were before kinda relates to what class you become, as your personality prior to death will be retained upon resurrection, and the classes have certain leanings toward certain personalities, though ultimately anyone can be any class
Idk whenever I brought it up on Byf Server (rest in peace) I got called dum so it might be false
They do that even if youre right
Or did
Does that mean my Hunter girl has always been a conspiracy theorist?
As with literally everything in d2 lore, the answer is a solid, definitive
Kinda
I cant wait for Nimbus to finally get killed off
Heck, technically the mechanical classification between the three classes via their different utilizations of Light in their arsenal is fairly contrived if you look at it
Great thanks not relevant to the discussion and comes off fairly mean spirited, be better
do you have anything meaningful to do with your time or is this the highlight of your day
I would agree, but we all know why you're saying it so shhhh the grownups are talking sweetie š
I want nimbus to grow as a person and for them to be less annoying
So angry
I have my Hunter as a research nerd while my Warlock is a jock, so yes itās whatever you want your guardian to be
And for us to meet the new cloudstrider
Move on
Just my opinion bro
it is legitimately just pathetic
Maybe u should grow up
Take this advice
Titans: blunt weapons
Hunters: tech weapons
Warlocks: anime
My warlock is a mad scientist whose body is slowly turning into pure Void energy, so she wears a pressure suit powered by a Turbulent Reactor in her bond in order to slow, but never halt, the inevitable flow of entropy permanently consuming her and her body.
My Titan is canonically the one doing the raids, she's the only functional adult of the three and is the person begging the fireteam to stop wasting revive tokens
My hunter is Rebecca Cyberpunk
For what reason?
Iām ngl Iām wondering if weāll find a way to bypass the Cloud Striderās expiration thing tbh. If Bungie intend for another 10 years of Destiny, they have to recognise that Nimbus wouldnāt last those 10 years too
Cloud Strider expiration what now?
thereās just the obvious factor itās never going to happen because theyāre a destination vendor
They have an expiration date?
Obnoxious immaturity? Childish humor? Take ur pick
The intense augmentations Cloud Striders undergo give them a 10 year lifespan
there is zero worth whatsoever hoping for their death
the only possible reason you would be thinking about it is plainly obvious
Rohan was in fact the only Cloud Strider who died in combat and not from this expiration
^ rohan was nearing the end of his, according to nimbus.
So true Themstie
Was just curious
Is Nimbus a reliable source of information?
Fynch could give them a run for their money
Considering he was close to Rohan, yes
About cloudstriders yeah I'd say so
lmao no just yall
Would you trust the newbie to know how long the veteran has been on the job?
They
Lmao
FUCK, my bad
I have a feeling it came up AT LEAST once during training
everybody acted obnoxious and weird in the LF campaign none of it is unique to nimbus
No worries
Hahaha
Since when is Nimbus-
Oh nooo
THE VEIL
- Osiris Lightfall
The fake not real character
WE NEED TO DO BETTER
Nimbus has been confirmed as non-binary since Season of Plunder
ok buddy letās get you some tea
Is it 10 Earth years, or 10 Neptune years?
Earth years
itās been in their vendor description since day 1
Season of what-
The third season of Witch Queen
Is Nimbus also a confirmed cloudstriker
Bungie released a series of images for Pride month with characters set over backgrounds representing different flags
so bungie spoke about them multiple times
As someone who plays in Spanish, I have no way of knowing that.
And Nimbus had the enby flag
Answer pls
Pirate season, arc 3.0, nezarec jar retrieval, we found out mithrax was a pirate captain who made Spider walk the plank
the answer is no because thatās a shit exotic sniper
No they're a Silver Surfer cameo
Ok so if he no cloudstriker
Because the way in which you discuss their death can make it appear as if you wish for their removal from the game as they identify as non-binary, which has been a fairly prevalent sentiment since the reveal of Nimbus. As discrimination is not permitted in the server, you must take better care in how you discuss these topics else should you be removed for being purposefully problematic. Please do better.
Ur the one that got it wrong
you really do have nothing better to do, do you
U do better
Honestly the most valid answer ty
Leave them, mods can take care of this

More like Silver Surfer knock-off (or legally different enough imitation to avoid being sued)
I mean beyond hoverboard that is silver thereās basically nothing
In English, quests and dialogues that refer to them use, well, Them. And like the text summaries of conversations that happen when you speak to a vendor use Them as well.
They
Omg
Argent Waverider
Put your feelings in a Stasis crystal and just leave it. Arguing is not worth it.
That's not even close to similar
Silvery Surfery

In any case, itās readily apparent in what we are presented that :
- Cloudstriders last only 10 years with two at any one time to prevent subjecting too many individuals to a shortened lifespan
- Rohan and Nimbus clearly had connected together in their profession, and it would be fairly strategically incompetent if Nimbus was not informed about everything regarding Cloudstriders when they are a Cloudstrider
- Nimbus uses they/them pronouns, which other characters use and which Bungie has presented them as, with the aforementioned pride flags with Nimbus representing the non-binary flag
Joke; paraphrased quote referencing something obscure probably no one here even knows about.
Next question
Chromatic Contender
Thatās a fun name
Metallic Hawaiian
Metallic Natator (synonym for swimmer apparently)
what
Surfs up
I'm out of surfer synonyms
People surf in other places
Steely Hawk
Only kids care about such things tbh
Like Shiverpool
I was thinking Alaska
Tungsten-y Hawk Pro Skater 3
About what? Arguments not getting anywhere? I've been in my fair share of arguments and I can confirm nothing good comes out of them.
Move on and block
Itās not difficult to follow the rules and simply just respect pronouns
Do not engage with them
Regardless of whether itās a real personās or a fictional characterās
Any other questions regarding lore
They make me feel better about myself but yea imma stop engaging
Comply or else
Because Nimbus represents enby people and trans people as a whole. And it communicates to said groups that you donāt care, and donāt respect them
Wat
But aren't you-?
Eris theyāre purposefully enraging you, please ignore them
Anyways
Star, Eevee, any questions come to mind?
Thats wild.
Pre-golden age earth had holograms serving pizza, and it is my firm belief that this means the Domino's Hatsune Miku collab is not only canon, but STILL GOING when the traveler is discovered.
oh my god youāre supposed to adhere to the rules of the discord server youāre in???
By comparison I mean
how can this be
Stop trying to cause issues over this
U are
Real
But also where is the hologram pizza thing from?
I hope the lead lined Garfield mugs survived the collapse
Ah yes, hologram pizza
Tempers appear to be running high. I advise blocking people if you don't want to interact with them, for both sides of this argument.
We got noodles, but also pineapples have been lost to time
Exos' favorite food
If you try to start 1 more argument about pronouns then you will be warned
They just eat normal food
theyāre not Plankton from SpongeBob
š
I prefer spaghetti
Why does everyone (in-universe) refer to the Traveler differently?
In what way
As in her different titles?
Because no one was ever told what the Traveler is actually called. So they all came up with different names for it independently
Poor Failsafe. Bungie forgot
humanity calls the traveler that specifically because of basketball
this is not a joke
Eliksni called it the Great Machine as they already revered machines and the Traveler does look, in part, mechanical in some way
Traveler itself was due to it traveling across the Sol System and terrafo- no are you serious
yes
the mars crew that made first contact were discussing what to do back on their ship
No fucking way Traveler ballin
while playing basketball
Wait, better question, why do most people I've seen call the Traveler a "her"?
More like Traveler ball
The Traveler/Gardener has been referred to as such and represents itself in feminine forms too
She commonly presents herself as feminine when she does present herself in the various visions she appears to individuals in
Such as Alpha Lupi
Ok, time to cook
Jesse?
Iām gonna guess and think youāre connecting the Traveler to the Gardener in Unveiling
No
jedse where is my wormspore
No
Starrail?
Yes
I just had a thought I cannot say without the risk of getting banned
Sucks
