Funny that everyone think it was fireteam 1 from d1
I mean, it wasn’t
the ones in the trailers were all human
also the wrong kinds of guardians
I’m not sure why everyone clamours about the Destiny 1 fireteam
Because clearly they’re not a canon thing?
They’re in the trailers doing story shit like facing down Oryx and whatnot, but that’s not how it actually goes down with the Young Wolf
obviously they’re the pinnacle of Destiny content, with such thrilling action scenes as “I hate it when she does that” or “he’s right behind me isn’t he”
One question
If rhulk was trapped after savathun gained the light
Why didn’t he come to the DC himself
In essence, the universe as you’d make it according to your vision; to that extent, the Final Shape will vary across individuals since they will have different perspectives as to how the universe should be
Adding to Waltz’s explanation, the Sword Logic is essentially Social Darwinism taken to its greatest extreme
You can still play previous seasons from this same expansion year, so don’t worry about it until June when Final Shape releases
Because immediately after we killed Savathun we went over to his submerged pyramid and broke it open with a Pyramid weapon from the public events, then proceeded to kick the shit in of all his forces, then killed him.
to be more accurate, after Savathun died, her Wellspring was left vulnerable
so while we couldn't let it remain fully operational to empower Savathun's forces and her Throne World, we couldn't just let the Scorn take it over either
and as a result, the grip the Wellspring had over the sunlken Pyramid was left weak enough to where we were able to enter it
and we did not use the Pyramid superweapons from the public events to open it
we used comething else which I theorise might be what Rhulk used to activate the Upended
I don't know why, but the Final Shape reminds me of the Anti-Life Equation from the DC comics
Using the Anti-Life equation is essentially what enacting a Final Shape does, but other than making people behave the way you think they should it’s more abstract
Like, if I really wanted to and had the power to, my Final Shape could just be making it the Halo universe or Transformers or Bionicle; it’s a total reshaping of reality to that as you desire
Reality-as-desired becoming Reality-as-is
Which one
If you're gonna use something as inconsistent as a dc plot point, its gonna be hard to understand unless narrowed down
Well the Anti-Life Equation is supposed to take away all free will, rendering you unable to make even the small choices like scratching your nose when it itches.
I can see the similarities
Has the Anti-Life Equation had significantly differing versions? Consistently I’ve seen it only operate as something to remove free will, and not much else
But also I haven’t delved that deep into older comic runs so that could be my inexperience
Once it was a mathematical equation thing when enacted killed everything
Another time it was basically just a bomb
A bomb with a blast radius you could escape from
That one was pretty stupid
Several times we never got to know, just that it was bad but never got used
Which isn't too surprising considering the people behind it
Nice to see consistency arise and make it just take free will away
What’s all the differences and shit between the young wolf, the guardian, and the original fireteam?
I’m lost
We are The Guardian and the Young Wolf and I don't know what you mean by "The Original Fireteam"
Well that Fireteam was Shayura, Aisha, and Reed-7. Shayura and Aisha's Ghosts survived, though Reed-7's didn't.
But if you're referring to D1 promotional material, they don't really have a presence in lore.
Of those 3, are any still alive?
Yes, Shayura and Aisha. Their Ghosts survived the attack from the Witness.
Ok you sort of implied that sorry
Also, what the hell does bungie have against exos? Cayde and reed are dead, saint went though all that trouble for Osiris, banshee-44 is living with burning memories of his past self, and Elsie bray knows the possible dark future in which she had to kill her own sister. As an exo titan myself, I feel victim to racism.
Trauma makes for good characters
Elsie went through countless timelines, not just one.
Just look at eris
That's sort of cherry picking. There's a lot of bad stuff happening to a lot of people. Eris, Katabasis, Shayura, Sjur, Crow, so on so forth.
Most characters of every species have gone through unimaginable pain and trauma
That last comment is definitely not necessary
Bungie has something against people they can give character growth using trauma somewhere
That’s fair
Did they have a connection with Osiris or something?
And reed too?
No, not really. They just participated in the Trials of Osiris, as regulars.
But Osiris didn't really have anything to do with the Trials, ironically.
The Followers of Osiris began that, and Saint-14 now runs it, but Osiris is rather indifferent.
What about her?
hello nerdses
Hello Gollum
actually i'm killer moth from the batman (2004)
That design is simply not as goated as his usual design ngl
my mistake

What
Anyone in this channel is a nerd
You fool, your admittance has turned you into one as well
You play the same game, you are a nerd too
As in sola’s scar. Was she also part of the fireteam?
She was not, no. Sola was part of a separate group of Trials participants. She succumbed to corruption. Torture, violence, aggression. She abandoned the City. Eventually, she was apprehended by Aunor Mahal of the Praxic and Hidden Orders.
Seems dumb they would name a weapon after a dangerous criminal
Good point
unless you’re napoleon or oedipus
Hmmm wonder where the title Dredgen comes from
To be fair, we reclaimed that. And also it is Gambit, which isn't officially endorsed.
I know, though still it's the biggest example of a title being passed down from a dangerous criminal
And better yet, we used copies of Dredgen Yor's Thorn before Gambit was even a thing, prior to the reclaimation of the Dredgen Title
was the 15th wish ACTUALLY visible on savathunes back in a cutszene?
or did they just say it was on a piece of paper?
i stared at those wings way to long now X_X
It was only visible in the cutscene where we realise it
You can’t go back and see it yourself in the actual resurrection cutscene
Which is very disappointing to be honest
no but even then i just saw the drawing on the paper....
i didnt see the pattern on her
wait i look again
What Eris means is that the cutscene where we saw Savathûn rez, there was no pattern
There was only a pattern in the following cutscene with a flashback to that moment
Aka no, you couldn’t see it until this season’s intro with the flashback zoom in on Savathun’s back
wish 16 to revive riven when?
Wish 16 is that Mara falls down the stairs and never shows up again
based and real
16th wish should be to FRIKKIN UNVAULT OLD CONTENT BUNGIE
Wait till you hear about shayura’s wrath
Fuck
Wait till you learn about the shadow price lol
Why is your bio gjallarhorn
Damn son maybe there’s software limitations which prevented them from maintaining all the old content while adding new which resulted in the Sunset system, which they’ve been working to return but are first focusing on legacy content from D1 as well the new episode system and Final Shape expansion after players were disappointed with Lightfall
slenderman
I like how always the game explained how light is good and darkness is bad then they gave us stasis
Wait strand is from darkness or light?
Cause they hoped i'd get us on their side
Like Eramis
Remember when we were called into the Black Garden back in Shadowkeep
Similar shit
Witness trying to gather forces
Wait who is witness again?
An entire race merged into one being
Ok thx
Another question
Basically any point where the darkness ever interacted with us it was actually the witness
Traveler gives us light wat is the name of the thing that gives us darkness
Even tho the Darkness doesnt have to be given out
Its generally a neutral force
Strand for example
We discovered it
It takes a strong mind to be able to wield the darkness

Exactly
So the job of the witness and traveler to give the power to who ever hey feel like it and that’s it
But defined through how theyre used
💀👍
The Witness doesnt like the Traveler because they believe it to be too powerful in itself
Wait can they take the power back?
The Witness? No
Traveler?
Again they didnt "grant" us Stasis as much as they simply enabled us the means to reach it
The Witness does not have control over who can and cant use Stasis
Traveler not as far as I know
Why not a full yes
Strand is another form power from the darkness
Thats it
But it simply exists
It wasnt "granted" to us like Stasis
The Witness themselves didnt even know about strand
We quite literally discovered this force during the Lightfall campaign
Like a relative
Correct
So light can also have branches
Not really for the light its more like channeling it through certain elements
Oh
Solar, Arc and void
Yea yea fire lightening and purple
Yup
Am surprised they void is given from light and not darkness
its important to note not everyone can use the light
One has to be "blessed"
Which just means resurrected by a ghost
Exactly
The Darkness anyone can use theoretically provided they are strong enough in the mind
One example is the Exo Stranger or Eris
Both of them can use Stasis without being currently blessed by the light
It’s like trying to lift something heavy but u can’t so u go train with lighter stuff and then come back to it to lift it
Srry
Lmfao all good
This is now just and conversation not a discord chat 💀
Since the darkness is the force of the mind you need to have a strong will in order to utilize the darkness as a power
Darkness; Darkness as a corruptive force originates from the Witness trying to push its will through the Darkness, however Darkness by itself is the same as the Light, an aspect of Paracausality, the only difference being that it is more tied to the consciousness than the Light, which is more focused on greater physical change and mental
So darkness is being used?
By witness
Alr thx
Is anyone in the game
It’s not their job, that’s just what they do, in service of their greater goals:
- the Witness wants all reality to follow its philosophy of, essentially, “Might Makes Right”, which itself is a result of them reaching the peak of developed civilization with the blessings of the Traveler and being frustrated that she would not give them a definition, a meaning, for living
- the Traveler grants its blessings in the hopes that the mortal species of the universe can gradually learn to cooperate together and build upon one another to be greater than they are independently. It is not beholden to giving a meaning of life, it is up to each and every individual to decide what the live for
Ask in #✨destiny-discussion or use one of the LFG options
To elaborate, Light elements are just essentially mimicking naturally occurring physics interactions outside of circumstances they’d naturally occur in; quite literally conjuring a fireball without smoke and mirrors (also in the pins, there’s a fairly in-depth explanation as to what exactly the three Light subclasses are mimicking in physics terms)
Thx a lot
Stupid question
Does the subclass they each class starts with has any lore importants
Not really save for the legacies of previous Lightbearers who were in the same subclass; Your Guardian’s subclass, preferred Light class, whatever, all that is purposefully vague so that any player can insert their Guardian as The Guardian
Subclasses themselves are more akin to various schools of martial skill, with some bleed over between subclasses for individuals particularly skilled
Didn’t understand anything but ok thx
I mean
No
Stasis, yeah
The only thing I understood that the subclass we start with was the subclass the guardian was using before dieting
Strand is the complete opposite
You cannot enact a force of will over Strand, or you just end up unravelling yourself
… we wouldn’t have been a guardian before dying, that’s the point
Strand is about letting go, and going with the flow rather than fighting to control it
Basically think of this: Titans, Warlocks, and Hunters just utilize the Light in different ways, but otherwise they’re essentially the same save for skill and experience
starting class and subclass ultimately just comes down to whatever the person is good at and feels good about
like other guardians could use everything like we do if they really tried, but it takes time and skill
most are just comfortable using one
stasis was a new trend but it’s mellowed out
people just do what they do
So there is no a main class
nope
Not at all, no
you can just decide to not be a guardian like drifter
he doesn’t do any class things
But he has light
but he’s not a guardian
And a ghost?
being a guardian means you’re a literal guardian
protecting humanity and its allies for the greater good
he doesn’t do that
having the light and a ghost makes you a Lightbearer
Savathun and her hive are Lightbearers
All Guardians are Lightbearers. Not all Lightbearers are Guardians.
It's like how Hive are Lightbearers but not Guardians.
we are guardians because we do the definition of the word
If we really want to be technical we can get into the terms of Risen, Ghostless, so on
Ok
hey mael can I ask you a personal question
Oh god
how do you feel about the lead lined garfield cups
Which still needs good control over ones mind no?
it’s not inherently corruptive like stasis
That wasnt my point
stasis was a hand picked gift from the witness itself
shit is fucked
you need restraint and will to use it
strand is the opposite
fighting against the weave literally just kills you like in the cutscene
gotta go with the flow
you didn’t answer the question
I would rather not feel lead lined garfield cups
but what about the emotional ties
He exists as an example of a semi-responsible Lightbearer who operates outside of the Vanguard system, a way to do good outside of a rather dogmatic system, itself being a healthy alternative than just. hard countering against the Vanguard and becoming an enemy of humanity
Also one of the first Lightbearers to get a handle on Stasis, to go Beyond the Light, before we were introduced to it by the Witness
He's representative of skepticism which motivates us to find other ways to do good, to not keep ourselves restricted by self-imposed regulations
Wasn’t it because the traveler left the garden and the entire race died and became the witness and swore revenge on the traveler?
Thats the fallen/Eliksni
And they didnt become the Witness
The fallen swore to regain the travelers blessing so they followed it
The race that would become the Witness existed an untold time before that
They sorta discovered the traveler just kinda halfway burried into the ground, they too prospored but when they discovered the Veil they decided that bla bla Traveler too powerful so lets fuse em for the sake of the universe, traveler said nah lets dont and got the hell out, the race all merged themselves into one being and became the Witness
It quite literally says what I just told you
They "died" because of their merger into the Witness
I might just be forgetting
Transferring ones mind into a new body obviously leaves the old body behind
They become the Witness before the Traveler even leaves
Question is it bad the dragons breath lore made me laugh a bit
is good lore
It’s funny lore
You just know it has to be utterly chaotic living in the Last City, Guardians doing utterly insane shit. Like how many times a day do you think they see a Guardian jump off the walls because it's quicker than taking the elevator?
Is it known how many guardians, or at the least how many ghosts that ever existed?
Nope
Keeping it vague and unknown allows Bungie to always have Guardian characters available and unknown numbers of Guardians to lose in battles such as the Red War without said losses endangering Guardians as a whole
Plus, make new factions like the Lucent Hive
Ghosts, no. Guardians, total, ever? Very roughly, 35 million, according to an extrapolation from the WQ CE.
This includes dead Guardians, Guardians in training, Guardians in defensive positions, Guardians on leave, so on so forth.
The great bungie email of many years ago
They decompile. One theory suggests this turns them into a sort of "sentient frequency".
Interesting
Also if you haven't asked already @shadow crypt
No we don't understand the resurrection mechanism. There are several theories in and out universe but nothing confirmed
for me, the most likely theory is that it ties into the Traveler's ability to reshape the physical world
since it seems heavily implied that a Ghost is a "part" of the Traveler
I don't think we will ever really know
Is there any reason in lore why the actual Tower hasn't been rebuilt yet?
bro on the power the glyph encounter, kings fall, with 2 totems... i like how i asked people why not do what i want to do (as a host of the fireteam finder lobby) to 2 man-run on each side, but they said 3 man-running is better but they all just end up dying repeatedly except for one or 2 people maybe.and imo staying in the back side corners instead of staying in up front to kill the wizard and knights faster...

we all love spreading a bit of misinformation here and there
so where do i put it
and beware
i have ptsd as a disability
and i didnt speak english my whole life
definetely https://discord.com/channels/297116500232372224/1119629593708613705 bc they love it there
...
Well this is lore, and also... not a question? I think you want #📘pve-playbook if you're after raid encounter tactics.
It actually has progressed back in Season of the Worthy. Or Chosen? One or the other. But no, not really. Situational evidence suggests allocation of resources. The current Tower is functional, so it's a low priority.
The welders on the left side sure are doin a shit job

Turns out they're scamming the Vanguard and could've finished it way earlier
They just like the pretty sparks
if it aint broke dont fix it
Tr3-vr got out and is terrorizing the workers
-shaxx probably
I do wish that we'd have more than one social space, Destiny 1 had the Reef too.
I mean
It is
Vestian Outpost? Yes, until Uldren burned it down.
Uldren sucked
We'll find Crow dead on the other side of the portal with his corpse in the family guy death pose im calling it

I think when you’re given the light, it fuels you and keeps you alive. Your organs are dead, but your human shell and consciousness are kept suspended by the light. Therefore, if you die without a ghost, the light can’t put you back together.
yeah, no
guardians aren’t puppeted corpses
they’re fully alive
everything is working in perfect condition
breathing, eating, sleeping, everything
You lose your connection to the light when your ghost dies, can't use the light anymore
Indeed. We aren't zombies, we're entirely fully alive.
As an exo I see this as an absolute win
Y’know how long it takes for highways to get approved, and then built? Then imagine it’s also a government building as well, and also on a wall; I think it’s reasonable it’s taking forever for the old Tower’s reconstruction, there’s probably been several alternative build proposals thrown at the construction
There’s a road that’s taken 5 years to complete, not even a highway, and it still came out a bumpy mess. And like, considering how we got part of the Traveler suppressor stolen which culminated in the ghost suppressors used in Chosen - and also the slight incompetency in Neomuna - it’s safe to say these issues carried over into whatever era the current Destiny universe is in
Bureaucratic fuckery be universal
Pretty sure it was ebony or black but I don’t recall either
Exos still have to retain the alkahest within them to house their consciousness, not to mention the various other machinery liquids like oil and what not that maintain proper functionality of their bodies. This is not a solely flesh-and-bone issue
Plus shock of near-death injury is still possible, as the Exo body is meant to replicate as much human sensation possible to satiate the subconscious so it doesn’t reject its new metal frame
also uh
we not only lack resources and materials (at least i think so)
we also need to tear it down then fix it up
aint no fucking way you can just repair that as it is
and how in the fresh hell would you do that without risking casualties or further damage and do it fast?
Make the Frames do it
the extra L is for the civillians who get hit by the debris
i just realised
so the tower is in like... south america ish right
and european dead zone is of course in europe, germany area
and the farm is close to the EDZ
did
did we walk from america all the way to fucking europe during the red war?
we couldnt summon a sparrow, we didnt have a ship
Somehow everyone forgets that
this makes more sense
well i know hawthorne rescued us but i forgot that she probably few us
and didnt like
carry us
Red war moment
Anyways
Someone give an interesting fact about parasite (the exotic gl)
Oof
He funny tho
Also we technically get to know about him before the Parasite mission, he’s the greedy fuck eating Susiris from the inside during Splicer
Xurs armor sets tells a sweet story of the rat and moon dust
Any other armor you guys know has similar tales?
Since it is a heavy weapon, and magazines contain a hive worm, and picking up heavy ammo gives more ammo reserves, that means the heavy ammo containers must form themselves into an ENTIRE FUCKING HIVE WORM.
How many fireteam was in "the great disaster"?
Many
If was before the first fireteam to descend to crota's throne world right?
The first fireteam to make it into Crota’s Throne was the Young Wolf’s iirc
yeah the great disaster was just the surface of the moon and Eris’ fireteam only went into the hellmouth
Toland would’ve known better but he was intentionally leading them to their deaths
Toland the curiosity moment
Consider this: it is. One worm. Each launch. We see only the one. But yet ammo runs out, but also multiple shots in a mag.
Ok so Guardians will literally make a gun out of anything
I mean anyone will make a gun out of anything
Oryx turned people into guns, they’re the king’s fall raid weapons
That's definitely a new interpretation I've not yet heard
It might stem from the Doom of Chelchis gun, which is not Chelchis, Kell of Stone, turned into a gun
It is just named after him
although it is a funny visual to have Chelchis stand off against Oryx proclaiming “I won’t become one of your mindless weapons” and the response is just physically turning him into a gun
Then turns their corporeal form into weapons
Melstronnar not knowing something??? Rare moment in history folks
No he didn't, they were just Taken. and Chelchis we don't even know if he was slaughtered or turned into a Taken, he's only mentioned in that gun
considering it’s called Doom I’m assuming he’s just dead
I swear I heard that they were turned into weapons somewhere
Only time Oryx planned for something to be turned into a gun was in the case that he died, that whoever killed him use his heart to make Touch of Malice
That's most likely Xol you're thinking of
A Guardian's power makes a rich feeding ground. Do not be revolted. There are parasites that may benefit the host… teeth sharper than your own.
—
Xol, the Will of Thousands, perished but was not destroyed. Death is a road, death is metamorphosis, the unsacred union between destroyer and destroyed. The might which defeats a god is also the ambros...
Fun fact - the flavour texts for the kings fall weapons are the last words of the victims
I think you misunderstand. I mean that I've never heard of anybody suggesting they became the weapons, as we have nothing suggesting that outright.
Not to suggest that he necessarily knows literally everything but there is a higher chance you’re mistaken than he doesn’t know this
such as?
We are the ones who turn things into guns; it's not really a common occurance, as we are an outlier amongst the Guardian populations
Xol turned himself into Whisper and canonically tricked everyone with it, we all think he’s dead and the gun is unrelated
Omar Agah kind of
1k voices is sort of not really brought up at all so we don’t really know how it comes into play
Which is funny because Ghostsight just tells us via the loretab "Hey, Xol is this fuckin sniper rifle"
like the assumption is that it’s Riven’s bones, but like
when would anyone have time to do that?
it’s not like her priority was giving us shitty reserves
she was just setting up the curse for Savathun
Divinity is filled with vex milk which is kind of weird but not really since they just have oceans of the stuff lying around
What If riven of a thousand voices was called that because she protected the weapon
she’s riven of a thousand voices because her gimmick is mimicking voices
Or one thousand voices was made from all the (thousand) dead ahamkaras
no
she just copies voices
that’s why this season is special
she speaks to us with her own unaltered voice
Is that the first time we hear that?
yes
It's explicitly because she copies Voices as she does in the Forsaken Story
But also she’s a space dragon so that’s probably not her actual voice. It would probably be the chittering and clicking we hear when she talks
Like I hate how all these sci fi aliens can speak English like WTF?
literally every sci fi media in existence does this
She's magic to such a degree that she can alter reality itself, and lived among the Awoken for centuries.
But I think if she spoke to an eliksni she’d speak in her own voice but in their language
Is there a proper ahamkara language?
the entire thing of ahamkara is reading your mind so they can turn desire to reality
Not that we know of.
Because it's been centuries since they've occupied the Sol System and we got sent back into near medieval times as all these space-travel civilizations came into the system all at once; not to mention the crazy space magic which is present as well
Consider how tactically beneficial it is to interpret enemy communications in their own tongue
Plus whatever other sci-fi hoo-ha like auto-translation which would be available to them
But vex are still just like HHHRRRRRNNNGGG
no
Why
I severely doubt Calus of all people would call out to his wife given we’ve literally never seen that name used anywhere else
also he’s Calus
I mean
It might just mean “fuck you”
He’s at his death, probably thinking back on his life with potentially some measure of shame or regret
We'd need more evidence to determine what that word is, and judging from how little we know about Cabal grammar and word structure - as well as the inconsistency of the characters for each of the alien dialects - means we won't know what Cemali means until we get a lore tab explaining exactly what it is
It's plausible for it to be his wife's name, and just now I'm thinking it might be the name Calus intended for Caital, if Caital was the name requested by his wife; but it's also likely to be an explative or something else
We got a bottle of ether alcohol during Plunder which had the name 'Drink of Seven' or some shit, as an obvious nod towards '7-UP', the inconsistent usage of the alien alphabets mean that it's possible, we'll just never know when it's used correctly or if we get a direct translation
Much to the plight of Sars, who decoded the Eliksni alphabet
wouldn’t a smarter reference be the seven seas
yknow
pirates
Could be either-or, could be both
I don’t get why 7 up of all things would be referenced in alcohol
pirates are known for drinking
Well I mean it's not stated to be alcohol, it's just a bottle of Ether drink; I said it because what else would be served in a bar
I think the cabal have had their time. Calus is dead, the red legion has fallen apart, Caiatl’s made an alliance with us. The psions might come back but they won’t bring any cabal lore
Water
Soda
To the original point, the bottle utilizes the Eliksni alphabet as Sarsion decoded to a readable phrase, instead of random gibberish
But it's also a super random utilization of it, which means that it's fairgame whenever the alien languages as decoded by the fanbase will be used as such, instead of just to serve as decoration
At least we know cabal numbers
And letters, since a majority of them are just our alphabet but turned on its side and squashed or stretched
I need to know what I am in Cabal
For reasons
Interesting
speaking about this, actually what is 1k? i dunno if this is a plot hole or something, but mara threatened to "shape [Riven] into a trinket of caged hunger to be forgotten in the Guardian's vault"
does this imply 1k is not made from riven?
Probably implies she’ll make the rest of riven (soul) into a weapon
And also fourth wall break us about exotic weapon vault usage
I think
hmm. maybe
I’d love a spirit of riven sword
Her heart
Pretty sure
Lament 2
Souls like boogaloo
how are we talking to rivens spirit
Magic space dragon
Awoken Magic
They can utilize Paracausality across the barrier of Light and Darkness (they can just. Use a mixture of both), which allows them to pull stuff like calling upon the Spirit of Riven from her tooth
They’re very literally raising the dead, as an “Ahamkara Spirit” is more truthful to their real form than their physical bodies; this being suggested by their bones still carrying whispers of their voice and being able to grant wishes
Blue Person Magic + Shapeshifting Space Dragon Magic = wOoOoOoOo, Dragooon Ghoooost
I have dispensed lore
You're welcome
My job here is done
So we died few times learning strand how did osris learn it without dying
Osiris learned from us. When were using it, we didn't quite understand how Strand worked, what emotional state we required. We couldn't force it, but we also needed to rush to save Neomuna.
Osiris has had no such rush, and could take his time after watching how we accomplished it.
oh thats what it was i was just confused
and doesnt it go if another guardians revies someone els dont the guardian lost the light?
Sorry, could you rephrase that?
like if our ghost went to revive like osris wouldnt we lost the light
Well, we've never actually heard of a paired Ghost reviving a second person. Not only that, but we've never heard of a Lightless Guardian - alive or dead - gain a new Ghost.
isnt the real close thing is savathun getting immaru
No, that's a perfectly average Ghost/Lightbearer relationship.
Nothing unusual there, species aside.
There's certainly a lot to learn
Shin Malphur somehow got the Light back after Tianshi died but that's a mystery, for example.
isnt it go like a guardian loses a ghost they cant get another one
We've never ever seen that happen, so situational evidence would suggest it's impossible. Even if it were, it's already a needle in a haystack for a Ghost to find their chosen partner. The chances of that happening twice are astronomical.
how long hv we had our ghost
Game time is not quite real time, but it's pretty close. Roughly ten years.
dam we been pals for awhile then
i find it funnier to pretend that it is, its funny imagining major events only happening on tuesdays
that is a real thing
the only inconsistent part is there being a few weeks time skips during red war
I love the idea that Guardians schedule that
"So I was thinking of going to that pyramid and shooting Nezerac, wanna come?"
"Sorry, got a dentist appointment, I'm free Wednesday though"
What is oryx the god of
The dentist in question:
he never really wore a title of a "god" so to speak, but if i had to guess i'd say "navigation"?
xivu called oryx their "great navigator" a few times
like, is this a warhammer joke or are you serious
legit
lmao
though he was primarily known for navigation
I am dying of laughing reading this
Thank you
I could imagine that happening 🤣🤣
https://youtube.com/shorts/idMNZmSwSFw?si=7Sdd5-TXs5URqwNr I didn't know that
Destiny 2's Got a Giant Robot Head deep in the Clovis Bray facilities on Europa. This giant head is one of two remaining copies of the personality of Clovis Bray himself! As the Creator of the Exos, Clovis knows a lot about the icy moon and even made an exo of himself, which one day turned into Banshee-44.
Subscribe to My name is Byf: http://www...
do you own beyond light
No
Raids and dungeons happen only once
Play Beyond Light or watch cutscenes
wait, was it ever explained why exactly they need a skeleton to create a guardian
I miss Calus so much
sure would solve a whole lotta problems by just letting ghosts make guardians from whichever schmuck they see
Bro went from replacing Nezarec as the Herald, to being dismissed by Megamind
he went out game of thrones season 8 style
the night king. Hyped for 8 seasons. randomly gets one tapped by a screeching spider monkey
you do realize that humans and Exos generally leave remains behind when they die
And we’ve kicked his ass before, Opulence we did just that
And again in haunted
All the Chronicon in its idiocy is him
How else would they do it if not from their remains?
He was just another Herald, the point of them is that they are hired by the Witness to further its own goals, it doesn’t give a shit about each individual herald
I know. I guess technically the Leviathan raid takes place more than once, Calus has a bunch of the robots
Just once
Shattered Throne is one of the few exceptions to any strikes, dungeons, or raids occurring multiple times
other guardians went through the ringer but canonically as the guardian, we only do it once
the same way they can create ghosts, fire, and everything else out of thin air
Guardians don’t create ghosts
and guardians only use the light because ghosts give them that power
light/traveler
traveler created the ghosts
ghosts resurrect guardians and let them use light
They’d literally just all be corpses without them
why does it need a corpse in the first place
because ghosts can only resurrect
that’s the point
the traveler creates life
it wants protectors but it doesn’t want to force that duty onto people already living their lives
I don’t get it
who
if some psycho was chasing me across the literal universe trying to murder me
not what the witness wants
and I had basicallyinfinite power
ultimately you’re just not the traveler
so you’re not going to act the same way
simple as that
😦
also the whole point of guardians was to prove a point that power doesn’t excuse selfishness
if the traveler personally created an army from scratch that would just be hypocritical
no
the obedient to a fault army would have been the more logical choice, but seeing as it was benevolent it gave risen free will
we’re a bunch of people that are resurrected as blank slates
if the traveler wanted to it could make an entirely new species entirely on its own with zero faults
it instead specifically chose a species that arguably has the most faults
are you referring to the "devotion etc" as being the criteria
there's no criteria to who gets rezzed
only whether or not they can wield the light
the speaker came up with that as a religious mantra
ghosts choose anyone to rez
the traveler has taken a hands off approach in terms of the development of guardians
so everyone looked to the speaker for guidance instead
devotion->sacrifice->death is not a philosophy of the light
it's a philosophy of the vanguard
he essentially just spat out a bunch of propaganda designed to make guardians feel good about killing any threats because “we’re chosen to do it”
it came from an honest place but in practice he was still lying to the entirety of humanity
the speaker was kind of irrelevant
a speaker is supposed to have dreams delivered personally by the traveler
it was a weird story choice to have a prophet for the traveler
ours could only listen to the traveler’s ambient thoughts
he wasn’t exactly a fraud but he never told anyone the truth
where's the disconnect here I wonder
I think this is why the traveler’s done away with them entirely
even in our speaker’s last moments it just relayed to him that it doesn’t need people to speak for it anymore
—
I remember the moment we were born.
There was pain, and loss, and a feeling of falling. Was this the end? The shadows gathered, colored bruise-purple and gray in Our fading consciousness.
Our shell cracked and splintered. Parts of Us were lost, or carried away. We felt those wounds, jagged and sharp. We could feel them still, attached by a gos...
then why is that ghost saying hes looking for a specific corpse
the ghosts look for their specific paired guardians
ghosts can only resurrect the one they’re closest to
not true actually
it’s not because the person is objectively good
ghosts can resurrect anyone they so choose, even if that person is not closest to them
not exactly
they don’t have full control over it
a ghost tried resurrecting a vandal *thought it felt a pull to
a ghost resurrected an infant in a Ghost Story
it ended up rezzing an awoken buried underneath it that it didn’t know existed
Baby Shin!
it felt the light
the connection was there
that was the point of it
it proved that guardians don’t need the devotion nonsense
of course it is it gave us oryx the nightmare daddy
Adam and Eve weren’t even made of dirt, where are you getting this from?
I don't remember oryx in there
adam was
eve was adam's rib or some other part
the play
Didi the ghost wrote, directed, and starred in it
ohhh
It doesn’t state specifically he was made from dirt, just that he was created; other religions generally have a story of man being made from clay or what not, but the Bible doesn’t have that
"formed man of the dust of the ground" - Genesis
eve popped out from his rib
Mmm ribs
still not sure what any of this has to do with the traveler
something something guardians would be better if they were mindless drones
whatever
guardians are guardians
end of story
now can we talk about oryx the fucking nightmare daddy
Shaxx is directly quoted as reviewing it with “passionate” and “sexually charged”
what else is there to say
enthusiastic, not passionate
Whatever, I’m not goin to argue theology; Guardians are their own individual selves, ghosts were made by the Traveler to raise Lightbearers in the hopes they will contribute to sustaining the health of the universe and combat the Nihilistic ultimatum that the Witness represents and wishes to enact. Lightbearers are raised from corpses, they have similarities to their previous lives but are ultimately new people, and it is up to them what they do with their new found powers, hopefully responsibly and for the betterment of all
I think marcus ren needs a new ghost ngl
I know it’s in the lore but be careful in case saying that is a rule 3 thing
I
I think Randy should get a new name
the existence of that play is an abomination
What is it with people and getting people new ghosts, it’s been years since Sagira died and also Shin exists
The point isn’t efficiency, it’s to prove individuals can and will help one another; what you’re suggesting is essentially in service tot he Sword Logic, the same dogma that the proto-hive learned on their home planet of Fundament and which the Witness endorses and reinforces wherever it goes
🫤getting why waltz is so harsh
whos waltz
but, ghosts only being able to res guardians from corpses sounds like necromancy to me
it's not
there is necromancy in destiny
but it's not necromancy because it's equivalent to you popping out of the womb
it's a new person born when the ghost rezzes you
not the old person yoinked from death
I wonder

I mean, kinda but kinda not
which raises the question, whys it have to be specific corpses. didn't a whole bunch defect to savathun because they got tired of not finding their guardian
it’s a factory reset
It’s still the consciousness of who they were before
Idk if id want to be born as a guardian
Im alive, hell yeah
help us right these aliens that will eat you alive
hell nah
and there's infinitely spawning, time traveling robots from another dimension
well the point is you don’t get to choose
yeah no shit, clearly
no, like
you don’t get to choose if you’re going to be resurrected
but you’re perfectly capable of deciding to distance yourself from the dangers entirely
Drifter completely disregarded the class system and spent centuries distancing himself from guardians
he only came back because he had to
It’s not; there’s a specific individual that Ghosts feel the most pull towards, but they can Rez whomever they want. That’s the whole point of Witch Queen
there’s also an entire group of pacifists that just don’t fight anymore
Efrideet, the only other iron lord left, is one of them
You Rez with no memory of your life before, just instincts and carried habits
yeah, why doesn't anyone address us as iron lords. Breaks my immersion
Osiris does too
Young Wolf is a type of Iron Lord
Saladin did that before we destroyed the replication chamber
Iron Wolf is a form of iron lord
Saladin just calls us young wolf
imagine being fallen, or hive and watching your entire family and all your homies getting straight massacred
aight your turn
What
Go stop that guardian
If it’s the Hive they’d just be like, “well, guess they didn’t deserve to exist in the first place”
What in the fuck are you talking about
the guy above you got it
Well, except that Xivu mourns Oryx despite the contradiction to her entire religion there
The gal above them definitely did not get it
the hive are just all around fucked
the second they’re born they’re forced to ingest sentient parasites
their leaders don’t believe in the religion that forced them into this
their god has basically abandoned them
they’re also ugly
You pivoted from complaining about not being referred to as an Iron Lord in-game to “Imagine how fucked up it is to be an enemy ad in this universe”
You might see why I’m baffled a bit

beyond light, variks is desperately trying to convince eremis to not go evil and fight us.
We clapped oryx, like really bro.
The non-combatant Eliksni - the ones least deserving of being shot down - as of now are a bit split between those still in New Riis and those with House Light; any Fallen we fight actively are choosing to be a threat to others
Not really, no

This is a pointless argument so let’s all move on
but you know how in goblin slayer, it'll give the pov from the goblins
All I ask is a coherent discussion, this is some tiktok level attention span
or how Chief is called "demon* by covenant
would be cool to get the pov of us from the fallen
yeah I think a lot, sorry bro
Closest thing to that is how Phylaks knew our titles when we challenged her
The ink blot scene from Splicer
Heroes and villains are all a matter of perspective. Mithrax tells the Eliksni bedtime story of the monster known as "The Saint".

Please explain everything in this image
super energy is fully
you are holding a weapon
your cross hair is in the center of the screen
what is the lore of this season. i can’t play it because i’m broke but like, what happens
trace rifle in energy/special
i know about getting the eggs or wtv but that’s it
you know about the veil right
don’t know anything besides the first mission of the quest
so pretty much the witness has opened a portal into the traveler and has fucked off
because it locks me
in an attempt to bring about the final shape
right now, we are trying to follow it into the traveler to stop it from bringing about the final shape (the bad ending)
like bro i’m missing 1k silver it sucks
ahhhhh okok
we brought back riven through some bullshit awoken magic
saw that
and are making a wish to be able to follow the witness into the traveler
to stop the final shape (the bad ending)
cause riven is the only one that has the power to grant the wish right?
To do so, we need Riven to grant Savathun’s wish, the fabled 15th Wish; but she’s only agreed to do so once we’ve gotten all of her eggs
riven is the last ahamkara
but isn’t it the witch queens wish not the vanguards?
correct
Not anymore
to follow into the traveller
THIS PISSES ME OFF BECAUSE I WANNA SEE WHAT HAPPENS
ugh
it's a deal; she'll only do it if we get her her eggs
right
It was Savathun’s wish that one person be able to go into the Traveler; Crow has volunteered, and we await for anything
Wdym “bullshit”?
i’m boutta sell my soul to get this season
like the awoken magic is just kinda a plot device
it doesn't have much actual rules
at least less rules than the light/darkness
It utilizes Light and Darkness, before we even touched Stasis; which is why they’re more flexible about the usage of Paracausality, but also know more about the dangers using it
Which is because Awoken are, of course, a product of the clash between Light and Darkness
The Exodus Green was at the edge of the Sol System and the Traveler fired a beam to protect it from the oncoming Pyramids; the clash resulted in a singularity being formed and a new universe formed in this singularity
Dubbed the Distributary, the Awoken have lived for millennia inside the distributary whilst centuries passed by in the original universe
what are you talking about bro
I don't need a history lesson on how the awoken got made
It stands to reason that for all that time and being a product of both sides to Paracausality, that they would learn some control over it and utilize it as their magic
Which is the point I was getting to
They’re, to an extent, paracausal beings (like the worms formed from Xita’s flesh), able to harness Ascendent power and just. Utilize the paracausal spectrum in a more nuanced way than Lightbearers can, though they cannot utilize it with as much efficacy as Lightbearers save for Mara
The history lesson on the creation of the Awoken gives us an explanation as to how they're able to have magic in the first place; because they were made with said magic
They had the major layoff of a majority of their employees after Lightfall failed to meet whatever ridiculously high revenue predictions one of the executives in Bungie set and the previous two expansions were developed during COVID (because why start development on an expansion once you released the previous one) and also had the reworked lighting system in BL and a new subclass element to work around and working to reintegrate legacy content after they stopped Sunsetting and maintaining the seasonal model of content release through each year and balancing gear to function both in PvE and PvP and working on the Marathon reboot and revitalizing old exotic gear so they had proper functionality in the game environment instead of having glorified legendary perks; they’re padding for time because they need that fuckin time, otherwise players are going to be mad Bungie disappointed them
Riven is an ahamkara
they transcend death naturally
all Mara did was give her spirit a more tangible form so communication would be easier
otherwise we’d have to go up to her corpse every time we wanted to communicate
Basically wake her up from a self-imposed external slumber
or try moving the entire thing, which would also suck
plus the vex would just keep flinging themselves at us
Hmmm.
I’m thinking, Ahamkara/Awoken magic and Taking are somewhat ambiguous utilizations of Paracausality; yes, we associate them with either Light or Darkness but that was off the old pretense of Darkness being a corruptive, evil force
Is… Oryx in a similar state as a “dead” Ahamkara?
it would kind of be the opposite
from a medical standpoint, his body is fairly healthy, but all semblance of soul is completely gone
we just used the latent essence for the core of ToM, it’s not actually him
despite what some people think after reading the grimoire, it was never meant to make him live forever
he would be “immortal” in the sense that his successor would be able to conquer him and use his power for whatever they wanted
they wanted a live service game right. no excuses
Let's have that kind of discussion in other channels

That goes for you too
God, I’m glad gamers a repressed minority
Every year, the same time, this opinion pops up again and again.
What a vile thought to have with people trying to make something they want to enjoy.
no ones stopping you?
we've heard both sides of this dozens of times, it doesn't need to be repeated, least of all in the lore chat
are servitors alive or just silly robots
Eeehhhhhhh
Eliksni drones have rudimentary intelligences, but they can be developed enough to lead the remnants of a House
coughtheDevilsStrikecough
Both!
Servitors are robots, to begin with. We'll start from there.
Servitors appear to have varying levels of intellect, usually on a fairly linear scale depending on the purpose or rank of the Servitor. Smarter ones have been used to lead Houses, strike out on their own, so on.
Interestingly, The Hangman of the Scorned Barons, Reksis Vahn, enjoyed torturing Servitors, which appeared to feel some sort of pain.
Elykris released a Servitor from its bondage.
Fikrul motioned the Servitor closer, then turned to Elykris. "You have gathered many, Machinist. Hundreds. Maybe more. Our own supply—our life force fed by slaved mechanics." Elykris nodded to the Servitor as it inched closer to the Archon's open arms—welcoming the once revered orb as one would a child.
The other Barons began to bark, a rhythmic warriors' chant.
"For all the value in your work… it is not enough to feed ourselves." Fikrul hugged the Servitor. There was a tenderness to the embrace. A sorrow. "We must also starve our enemies, as you were once starved." With a blur, Fikrul's lower arms unsheathed and triggered a pair of polished, sparking Shock Blades. "As were we all."
The Servitor, still held with the clutches of the Archon's powerful upper arms, cried a shrill, digital wretch—pain mixed with confusion as the blades carved its outer shell and plunged deep into the core of its systems. Ether hissed and sprayed.```
☹️
There is also the suggestion that Shanks somewhat serve like house pets, and there’s an entry of Eido helping repair a shank that has been in service for a considerable amount of time (it might also have been dialogue from when the Eliksni quarter first opened and you scanned the shank frame that’s out on one of the desks)
they have varying amounts of ai, but all of them are capable of feeling pain ☺️
not a crime against humanity if theyre not even human
so its not genocide, its pest control
isnt there also a sentient machine gun
God it's like FWC guy again
why are you always bitter
Super Good Advice. But weapon AI isn't too uncommon. Veist always have some, for example.
"Mmmm haha genocide joke, very fun and not concerning and doesn't fly in the face of Destiny's major themes"
Don’t entertain the troll Gestaltz
Maybe I should leave and then wait for Final Shape before coming back
I hate gamers so much
Your guardian should've been in the Great Calamity
The combination of nothing statements like you've made plus your username and bio isn't exactly going to make people receptive to your comments, I would imagine.
what difference does it make
not like im lying about warlocks living
"...A year ago, they were running with a fireteam, a tight-knit group of six that had each other's backs. Till the stars died, the lot of them had thought. It would always be like this.
Now there is one Warlock ..."
—
The Warlock sits with hands in the water and hums to themself. Several of the local feral pouka come and go as time passes, bumping up against fingers or vaulting out of the water to become airborne and curious, spattering drops everywhere. The Warlock doesn't mind, really. It's impossible to feel alone when dozens of creatures are hanging on ...
Interesting entry for you to choose.
one of those that makes you pause idk i got a couple
It's nice in that a Guardian finally destresses
—
Final Entry
Dear Adelaide,
When those people and their drones found me alone at that deserted intersection they demanded to know where you were. I offered them the Obsidian Accelerator. I gave it freely.
You promised you would leave me, and you did… but you never said how far you would go, did you? You stayed close enough to watch through your...
But I doubt there's anything you show which hasn't been seen
especially this one
Please explain rhulk, nezarec, tormentors, and subjugators
What did I miss
I get how tormentors are like offshoots of nezarec and subjugators are offshoots of rhulk, but is there other correlation?
Didn't Nezarec just mix and match his body before his fight?
He was just a head before
The psions had to use creative liberty lmao
Not quite. His body was growing within the crystal.
Rhulk is his own species. Lubraen, from... well, Lubrae. However, that species doesn't exist anymore, as Rhulk... to be blunt, Rhulk killed them all.
That explains the name of the glaive
As for Tormentors and such, we don't actually know for sure. There's a line or two of dialogue, plus the names of some Tormentors, suggesting that they're the combined effort of Nezarec and Calus's efforts, likely cloning tech. However, there is an argument to be made against that. We're simply not certain.
Unrelated but do you have any general theories on anything in d2 that isn’t confirmed?
The age old theory that Jisu Calerondo is Nezarec
i suddenly got an overwhelming feeling that i've been ambushed by an Avlus
yes, yes i have
I return from death
I'm not usually delving too deeply into theories. I'm more... practical, when it comes to my lore. I work with what's already here.
That said, I have some ideas. Such as the Vault of Glass being powered by the Black Heart, which explains a few things, such as why it was never rebuilt or copied.
Your evening news: AGH WHY THE FUCK IS A STRAND TITAN SOLOING ME THIS ISN’T SUPPOSED TO BE HAPP-
Who's taller void termina from kirby oryx
I literally have no idea what any of that means.
i love how our first clue about what the portal is was from jisu
you should know who oryx is smh
I fail to see the resemblance there
Oh lmao
in the final shape trailer, do caydes eyes have the same glow as Memonto Mori on his gun or is that just me
That doesn’t look like Memento Mori
so its just me
It looks more akin to the glow Traveler’s Chosen has imo
Which lends to the idea that this Cayde is a construct of the Traveler’s for us
idk, it just seemed more Wispy than the blooming light of travelers
thats gonna be a low blow to Ikora and Zavala
if all this ends just for cayde to be fake
thats ok, i dont mind
what
I see it as more of a closure thing tbh
Getting to see their friend one last time and making peace with it yk?
true, but if its not really cayde
and its just a fake the traveler uses
at least to me that wouldnt feel very closing
feels like getting attached again, just to learn you were being used
Depends how it all shakes out. Whether it’s the Traveler presenting as Cayde or Cayde’s actual consciousness in some kinda afterlife state
the latter is what would seem better
also, do we have a lore reason why nobody has just, landed on the traveler
I dont think sunsetting is a canon thing
Cayde was our friend too, and his death clearly deeply affected the Guardian
someone forgot to tell bungie
more like distant neighbor
now if it was Eris
id be sad as fuck
is she even dead?
no
I havnt finish sword
she’s having a well deserved rest
If this said Eris
It’s such a long shot but God I’d love a scene in Final Shape where people get to meet their lost loved ones in the Pale Heart
Eris getting to see her fireteam again. Saladin getting to see the Iron Lords
could be that inside the traveler is treated as an afterlife for past guardians
allot of Fallen and Humans
I’d genuinely cry if that all happened
Taeko-3 reunited with a bunch of crystals
I still wanna know what made bungie pick Bastion of all things as our characters favorite weapons
thats gotta be one of the least used exotics
other than DARCI
I dont think anything youve said has made sense to me with what were talking about
Rule 3 dude
fun fact something I didn’t know until recently, the ghosts were also melted into the crystals
Alternative Dialogue from Savathûn's Song on Titan (Moon of Saturn) during The Red War.

Taeko-3: We came down here as a squad of nine. Got picked off one by one. Watched a wizard rip the Light out of my best friend and funnel it into some kind of crystal.
Ghost: They’re harvesting Guardians.

minor details
this dude is 90% nonsense from what ive heard so far
Dude, enough
mods, take away this dudes lore privileges
have some fun once in a while
be more like cyberpunk, less like starfield
go to off topic or something
yes sir, right away sir
you should figure out that when nobody is laughing at your jokes it’s not that they don’t have a sense of humor
you’re just not funny
^
thats ok, i dont mind
the rest of us do
@jagged badge are we allowed to get this dude booted or something
if he aint gonna discuss lore in the lore channel
and just wants to make vulgur jokes
you arent either
I came here for lore. you butted in during it actually
You can report them in a ticket and a mod will handle it
That’s what I’ve done
Is the Oryx’s dreadnaught still in Saturn’s rings?
yeah
id assume so
