Crota was called a god probably because he was really powerful, but he didn't really have a nature he must obey, unless having really big swords counts as one, so yeah, Crota was a god as far as the common hive saw, but not a true hive god in the hive pantheon

No; the place past the portal, supposedly it's entirely composed of Light and Darkness, a plane of total paracausality, not in the way Light and Darkness exist throughout realspace because of the domains which they affect. Best theory, the Cayde we see is a Memory - a la the cleansed Nightmares of Haunted - with a reformed physical shell of how he was last, all formed by Darkness and Light respectively. There's also an assumption that the memory part includes his identity before he was Risen, as other entries related to the Portal insinuate that the plane beyond is a sort of Akashic Record place, a repository of all things mental and physical (recommend searching Akashic Revelation in Ishtar, it was the vendor rank exotic ship from Season of the Deep and shows the final thoughts of that guardian who flew into the portal, only to be found merged into it)
Also we've mostly eliminated all forms of Time Travel save for whatever is allowing Elsie - the Exo Stranger - to be stuck in her Groundhog Day-esque loop, that has not been discovered yet

She's a Risen, with a ghost and everything. Immaru is her Ghost. She's fucked off to wherever, but she hasn't gone through the portal despite withholding the method to getting through it from us. We'd been keeping her remains preserved so Immaru couldn't remote resurrect her, we only allowed her to get revived to allow Eris Morn a power boost to block Xivu Arath from her Throneworld.
Much of this info can be found in the collections tab, most of the vital lore tabs are available in-game as well as most entries for weapons, armor, and whatnot, as well as fan efforts to record and preserve in-game cutscenes and dialogue as well as Bungie's own videos on their YouTube channel

I think the main reason we were able to go there was because Savathun needed us to use Deepsight to restore her memories
and as for the second part, that's just how her Throne World looks
though the more swampy area is meant to be remnants of what the Throne World once was

A Throne World is a bubble within the Ascendant Plane, another dimensional layer.

eventually, Uldren returned with a young Ahamkara named Riven
Mara then raised Riven and the two bonded
however, since Ahamkara are rat bastards by nature, Riven would become your typical deceptive wish granter
so Mara created the Wall of Wishes to allow her to enter her wishes while ensuring that Riven can't screw with them
gameplay wise, the Wall of Wishes is something you can find by going through a secret path just before the first encounter in the Last Wish raid
you enter a sequence of patterns on a "grid" and something happens if you enter the right ones
each wish you enter has its own effect
some are a one time use like the one that gives you a loot key and the one that gives you an emblem
others just do funny thing slike make Driter commentate on the raid
and other can skip you ahead to certain encounters
anyways, when the raid dropped, there were 14 wishes that we found over time

The search for the 15th wish, and secrets in general, IS the 15th wish. The communities that have been built, the people who somehow continue to figure out the absolute insanity of bungie's puzzles and secrets, the drive to see what's at the end of the treasure map. We will cherish the 15th wish forever, just like Niobe Labs, just like the Corridors of Time, just like the final VoG chest, just like The Whisper and Zero Hour and Wicked Implement.

Basically its people first found the traveller, which blessed them with the light, and they used that to build their civilization and technology. However they began to crave a greater purpose (imposing meaning on the universe, which they saw as meaningless), that led them to discover the veil through which they obtained the darkness. That is when they made it their goal to achieve their "purpose" (the final shape) via linking the veil to the traveller, something that they attempted on their homeworld but failed due to the traveller fleeing. After that they used the darkness to merge their consciousness into a single being (the Witness)
