yeah i didnt phrase it in a way where bungie is somehow stupid for deciding to do it that way
i think strand being green because its the opposite of void is perfectly fine and makes a lot of sense
The lore is literally just "how did the guardian imagine it when they first saw it"
Which is totally fine
And gives bungie justification for it being green
I mean what else would they make strings of the universe
Like fuckin
white?
Like bruh nah
red
I guarantee you bungie has other ideas for subclasses
Which will probably be red
Like look
There's 3 light 2 dark rn
im sure we will get at least 1 more by the decades end
Bungie runs on rules of 3
We ain't staying on 2 dark
And red is a pretty big color that's unrepresented
So
depending on which blue arc classifies as
its a light blue
we might get red
arc is always been a lighter blue
and the opposite of which is orange
before some smartass says its brown
brown is just a shade of orange
lemme go pull up a colour chart
I think the UI implications of having two orange subclasses outweigh the color theory implications of them going with red or something
welllll
well we already have 2 blue subclasses
Very distinctly different
i wouldnt mind a yellow subclass
if its yellow and light enough it could still be visual different
the next subclass would border brownish red
One is basically cyan and the other is navy
which would also be easily destinguisable
no cause that youtube video had me tillt hey said relaunch d1
a up-to-date d1 would be amazing
Easier to port things into D2 ngl
Which they've done an awesome job so far with
With the raids specifically
Cosmodrome could have been better
i agree but i would love to play d1 with better graphics
i tried playing it on my xbox x but it dont look right. and on my old xbox it looks way better
So, can Guardians just summon their ghosts to themselves if they're far away, or does the Ghost have to physically travel to them? Just wondering.
We aren't exactly sure how Ghosts work
When they go away (i.e. vanish) they fold up into a pocket dimension
Hello chat
Iām somewhat delirious from work-related illness, whatās been the haps
Nothing much
Here is a great lore tab about ghosts

i don't want to watch an aztecross video
ngl I think buying d1 to complete it is a little much but it was fun to play through
farewell
then you're going to continue not understanding
as this shows
ignorance is my natural state of being
That must suck
it's quite fun actually
exhibit a: whatever gen chat is talking about
is it good? is it bad? i have no idea
and i am therefore not bothered
but through the superpower of context clues i'm going to assume aztecross made a joke thing and some people unironically deleted their characters because of it
Aztecross didn't invent it, nor was he the first one to cover it, but he pretended it was legit (like that TWAB last year)
Glorbo is AI skimmer article bait
Are raid wipes cannon?
no
Theres no way us as the guardians know how to do last wish vault mechanic in one try (lore wise)
Do we automatically know these mechanics?
i mean revive tokens don't exist in lore
theoretically a team could just hold out for as long as they need to
But we would need someone to know vault,
Lore wise, is there anything that talks about the vault?
Maybe a dreaming city lore book?
We figure it out, apparently.
i mean i would assume we'd have been debriefed about it
Raid mechanics rarely have any lore. We just do it as we get there, really.
we're asked and told directly to find and kill riven
i'd be surprised if nobody mentioned how the door works
But its kinda weird how we get to a raid, and automatically know raid mechanics tho.
like i said
we could only understand mechanics unless we wipe
raid tokens aren't canon
Then lore you is smarter than real you, I suppose.
unless the whole squad wipes, you'd have basically infinite lives to figure it out
Did we know about Morgeth?
Isn't the cannon explanation that the Guardian and their fireteam clear it flawless?
there's no mention of us dying or doing things flawless
But how???? How does the guardian and their team know how to do vaultt
either are possible but it really doesn't matter
how about
there is such a thing as overthinking it
You are over thinking things
They tell us about the vault
Aw, btw is there any lore about morgeth?
Nothing outside of the mission itself.
most of the time the bosses of anything besides the last encounter don't have much about them other than the fact they exist
outliers being ones like the deathsingers and atraks
Aw man, but these bosses have these cool titles, I wonder if there was lore on what they did or how they got their title
Like the boss of Shattered Throne, Dul Incaru, The Eternal Return
i mean technically speaking dul incaru got her title before it even happened
So there lore on dul incaru
We know that one. Shattered Throne canonically repeats every three weeks.
savathun's daughter
surprise surprise, savathun has zero motherly love for her children
both were just thrown into conflict to get what she wanted
Damn, is that her only kid?
dul incaru especially because her job is specifically to be murdered repeatedly
malok was also her kid
literally only gave birth to him so she could steal some of the tribute going to oryx
backfired when malok stole it for himself
oryx found it hilarious and raised him to his court to get back at savvy
then we just hunt him down and kill him after oryx died so he wouldn't be an issue
and that's the extent of savathun's offspring
despite having taken the "mother" morph
least amount of children and least amount of love to either, out of all the hive gods
Dawg do you think we will finally kill xivu arath this year?
This year? Probably at some point in Final Shape.
unless savathun can bring me back around on the topic i'm honestly not especially interested in xivu
This year as in, Season 20,21,22,23
I repeat my statement
i found her more interesting when she wasn't whisper shouting in my ear
12 man raid to kill witness fr fr
I honestly enjoy her character more now
i dunno i just don't really like her voice all to well
savathun was just an incredible performance, and oryx was cool too
Did oryx ever speak to us?
We did not let that slide.
In the form of exterminating his bloodline
His daughters, his wife, crota
i mean we already do it before we kill him
with the exception of nokris but nobody cares about him
Right
i still feel like that random taken wizard still isn't his mate
Brooding mother i think?
there is literally zero reference to her as a character or presence whatsoever
matron can just mean she handled domestic/medical arrangements
Also means married woman
like her name never shows up anywhere, not even in the books of sorrow, yet we're told about Alak Hul's girlfriend
it just doesn't lead me to believe the two had any relationship
other than "you are in charge of raising my children because i'm busy talking to a unibrow cloud thing"
The witness?
who else would oryx be communing with all that time
their father died before they even became the hive
They were still krill right?
yes
taox inviting the other king in to assassinate their own is basically what forced them to flee and accept the worm's deal
what if an exo suffers some kind of permanent damage? are they just SOL, or are there people alive in the d2 universe who know how to perform repairs and maintenance on exos?
yknow, like how banshee seems to have some kinda memory deficiency
i mean at this point i would think exo physiology is pretty easily accessible
i think anyone with the right materials, skill, and schematics in front of them would be able to fix it
cayde had a whole arm shot off during the red war
yeah, but he's a guardian. couldn't his ghost heal that? well, heal it once we turned the light back on anyway
speaking of cayde
he and clovis had some kind of past, right? what was it?
Lightbearer Exo are unique
none
cayde was just on eventide
got made into an exo
then was shipped elsewhere
i see
i mean after he tried shooting a child but that's besides the point
š
why do you bring it up
Cayde's wacky side was just a persona he put on
What do you mean?
so did cayde do anything special or hold some kind of position or rank to be there, or was clovis just like, picking up random shmoes off the street and going, 'hey wanna become a robot'
he just had some baggage weighing him down
anyone and everyone would apply to the exo program
i mean the question is about how exo repeairs work
bringing guardians into the equation sort of defeats the point
They asked
Cayde getting his arm shot off and Banshee getting his arm broken would have two different outcomes
i know
my original comment was about non-lightbearers
their followup question wasn't
anyway, yeah
i'd be surprised if majority of the colonists even saw clovis once
it's not like he really cares about the lives he's throwing away
cayde was just another schmuck who came in for a second chance
imagining clovis just offering random people on the streets 20 bucks to come with him to become a robot like cave johnson in portal
his position was simple guard duty, and he wasn't very good at it considering he was sent off somewhere else
honestly i think clovis bray has easier access to the general public
[Aperture Science] Test Subjects are also required to answer essay questionnaire, like Essay Question 1-A: "Why should Aperture Science accept you as a research volunteer and would anyone file a police report if you went missing?"
this is from a 50 question questionaire, for the record
i've heard people say cayde used to be an asshole, and you said a minute ago he shot at a kid. what was going on on that front?
i dunno
Cayde we had and past Cayde are different people
Imagine the tech we would have if Clovis and Cave Johnson worked together
security detail
was he just like, feeling like it or something, or
ah
i honestly would assume clovis bray procedure is to automatically respond to any disturbance with lethal force
it being a child is irrelevant
you wouldn't shoot a kid?
Clovis' planned procedure to ANYTHING unwanted infiltrating the DSC is the nuclear descent protocol, which destroys the entirety of Europa
i doubt he'd ever care about one penguin obsessed ankle biter
cave johnson is explicitly portrayed as an exceedingly stupid man who just hires the actual scientists. if you put clovis and cave in a room together for 5 hours and then opened the door, cave would be thoroughly cannibalized
also yeah said child was micah
the same micah who later became micah-10, the ghost mom
i see i see
Den-Mother-Of-Ghosts, to be specific
i've been thinking about something
Cave isn't stupid, moreso eccentric and has no regard for anyone other than himself.
he is incredibly stupid
his stupidity was just replaced with anger later down the line
can ghosts like, revoke your light? they're the ones who channel it into you, right? ghost even says it feels like 'drawing from a well/tap'
so can they like, not channel it temporarily, for whatever reason
Ghosts have abandoned their Chosen before after death, so there's that.
they can't like, look at their risen and go "i don't wanna play with you anymore" and just dr. manhattan them or something
if they really decide to leave them, then that's that
They can just not rez you
they just leave
whether the individual is current alive or a corpse, they just skedaddle
Or they are like Fynch and just chill with the body
so like if your ghost DOES leave while you're alive, can you not use the light? do they need to be in proximity?
i see
they don't get a "feeling" if or when it happens either
the ghost just leaves
anyway to elaborate on cave johnson being stupid
One thing i like is that Guardianless ghosts sometimes work as forward scouts for the hidden
you know the reason why the portal turrets are barely lethal
because they don't even fire their bullets
in an attempt to stuff their turrets with as much ammunition possible, the turrets just aren't equipped with guns
they're just chambers with springs that launch the bullets out
it's basically just throwing really pointy rocks
cave also says they fire 'the whole bullet'
which isnt how bullets work, CAVE
they're not even real bullets
they're physically incapable of even working with actual bullets
does anyone have some just plain harmless fun d2 lore entries. i've been reading through depressing stuff for like half an hour now
and ive already read ghost community theater
Read the Mark of the Great Hunt lore tab
Mechabre lore tab
Ghost Community Theater presents
or any Guardian Games lore tabs from the class items
Are there any ghosts stronger than your average ghost
Sloane's Ghost has razor blades on her shell which she uses to cut down Hive
Drifter's Ghost managed to dome someone. And not like, knock them out, but go straight through their head. Somehow.
Specifically a cabalās skull, as well as take out a patrol that came upon recently rezzed Drifter
no?
But they're made of glass, how
They're made of metal.
not glass
also anything solid enough going fast enough will punch a hole through a person
I mean have you heard of the Rupert drop?
Prince Rupert's Drops are small glass structures resembling tadpoles that can withstand the blows of a hammer and yet burst into powdery dust if their threadlike tails break. They have been a source of fascination and mystery since they were discovered in the 17th century.
Now an international research team has pinpointed the source of the biza...
Yeah, but break the tail and boom
shattered glass can also do damage if it's going fast enough
something something high compressive stress outside something something high tensile stress inside something something cooling dynamics
I think you missed the point here lmao, a shattered ghost kinda serves no point anymore
very cool
i mean maybe ghost lenses are just made of a nebulous transparent substance that isnt glass
bulletproof glass
Lol
or just that
or alternatively, paracausal bs
but i figured they were ruling that out because nobody mentioned it yet
I understand the guardian's is metal, but the hive ones look like glass marbles
How strong physically are guardians? Crushing a sphere of anything solid that size has got to be insanely difficult
Strong enough, even without Light. Zavala wrestled a gun from a Cabal Legionary during the retaking of the City during the Red War.
Wei ning punched a mountain and it moved
Cabal look very strong
Just fuckin'
stole it from his hands
Pfft, light work
cabal are 800 pounds
Hear me out actually
which isn't fat
Instead of investing resources in walls
calus is the only one actually constituting of fat
is that more or less than a real rhinoceros
We simply send like 1000 titans out into the wilderness
And just punch mountains back to the city
also remember ikora just casually carrying a solid concrete block with zero exertion
just make a human pyramid of titans
all around the city
The last city would be greatly protected
i mean being next to some mountains didn't really matter last time
or the last last time
or the last last last time
Let's just steal a cabal bubble shield thingy and supercharge it
Or those impenetrable fallen shields
But don't be an idiot like the fallen where they put the panel on the outside of the door every time
this
like in the walker public
put the shield desactivation machine INSIDE
i love how when you open all of the caches in that ghost says "now they don't have weapons"
actually the weapons are now more easily accessible
ā ļø
EXACTLY
State of the Game hints at the return of the Infinite Forest???
i think i've asked this before, but does anyone know what the star-eater scales exotic's name refers to?
is there an in lore reason as to why hawthorn sells red border last wish items?
Nope
Purely in game
Although
For the dungeon key quests, thatās probably her managing fireteams for those activities
Hey yāall
I got a question for yāall for the final shape who you think are going to be the bosses?
If you had a choice
Xivu and stuff?
Taniks, Servant of Oryx
Realistically could guardians lorewise beat the warframes lore wise
comes down to whether or not a warframe can destroy a ghost
Could Nekros revive a Guardian?
that would be kinda cool ngl
Ye old handheld supernova
Anything that actually exists disintegrates
ez
So, did the City recover Sundances remains? I know they got her video feed based on a lorebook, but I couldn't find anything on what happened to her actual remains.
Alright. Also, did the Awoken ever get the Prison of Elders back under control, or is it still in ruins?
Under the control of the Awoken rn yes
That's why we can't go to the POE or tangled shore right now
Mara Sov is cleaning house
Not our problem
Maid mara hard at work
Poe is just a bad establishment so thereās not much you can do for or to it
I seem to remember Ikora giving Aunor or whatever their name was the pieces of Sundance for their investigation, but i could be wrong.
True. It's basically a glorified gladiator pit/trophy room.
Wait is cayde not dead???
no hes dead atleast for the moment, too early to really know whats happening in tfs
Cayde is very, extremely dead
To give you an educated guess on TFS, upon entering the portal Joxer experienced both flashbacks and flash forwards
The name of the seasonal ship which that lore tab is attached to is Akashic Record
Which would indicate that the portal is, in fact, an Akashic record, a record of all things past, present, and future
Which would give reason for Cayde existing
Also idk if this is a stupid question but I saw uldren so in helm
Who is it
He was resurrected by a Ghost named Glint
had no idea of his past until Savathun told him
His name is the Crow
Oh ok
Wait is Amanda dead rn?
yes
Very
for lack of a better word sheās pretty crispy right now
probably not changing anytime soon
Donāt you⦠take the literal weapons inside the caches? Which is the point of that line?
Does anyone happen to know what decides what appears in the infinite forest. Can only the vex decide what is in there?
it's their simulation machine
osiris just had some limited access while he was inside messing around with it
Okay thank you!
So, do Awoken have any sort of specific nickname for Ghosts or no?
not particularly
you also can choose to not take the weapons
but anyways exposing the weapons just makes them more accessible.
its just gameplay wise dregs and captains cant pick up scorch cannons
i mean not really
the public event is them setting up for an arms deal
you showing up and just opening the caches ruins the deal
since anyone (guardians or any other fallen) can just run along and grab them
the buyers aren't going to show up thanks to your presence, and the fallen selling the weapons are forced to either cut their losses and just abandon it or try and fight you off with their walker
I mean specifically, the house of:
Devils
Kings
Judgement
Kings was I believe a ruling House in pre-Whirlwind Fallen society
Devils were known as the Dancers
and Judgement was more of a governing house who were organized very differently
as of the start of D1, the House of Devils were being secretly controlled by the House of Kings in the Cosmodrome presumably because their Kell was killed by Saint-14 (he headbutted him so hard his head exploded)
I believe this was during Twilight Gap
or right after
we also know that Eramis used to be part of the House of Devils along with Kridis and Phylaks
well, we aren't sure, but we have a good idea
my personal theory on Atraks is that she was a high standing member of Dusk
as for Taniks
his backstory is that he was relentlessly abused by his Kell who would dock his arms constantly
so one day, Taniks made himself new mechanical arms and killed his Kell with them presumably ending the House
Now feel bad about killing him, then literally taking his fucking head and shoving it into my tent as a collection piece
We as the guardian, are fucked up
given Taniks' title as "the Scarred", we can assume that Taniks might have come from the House of Scar
which is a house that went extinct prior to D1
don't he deserved it
Whats the house of rain?
they were known for making prophecies including the famous "Kell of Kells" who would unite all Houses
they had the same colors and armor as House of Dusk
they went extinct likely during the Dark Age
we know they lasted long enough to reach SOl, but went extinct a while before D1
Aw. So which is the house chilling in our tower? Is is the house of wolves?
I like mithrax and his little robot vibe
Wait
Wrong fallen
The fallen who talked to mara sov in the farm
With a robot like purple to it
I could probably get a image for you
Lemme seee
I cant find it
But i vividly remember during season of defiance mara sov interacted with this kell like fallen figure with a purple to it
Offering help to mara sov
I thought it was Gentle Weavers
So wait the savathun is still alive?
Not currently
But her ghost is
Which means she can come back if said ghost gets his hands on the body
Now in the context of the seasonal story next szn
We need her information on what the Witness did
I thought it be something crazy like talking to her past self
So we presumably need to strike a deal with her Ghost that we protect them from Xivu Arath and in return she explains how we get through the portal after the Witness
It'd be interesting to get a short alliance with her
I don't see hive in the tower tho
Or maybe she just says how to do it and escapes
If i had to guess the next season is season of the witch queen it'll probably lead the next dungeon
Well it'd have to be related to her somehow so got any ideas?
Maybe season of song cause xivu arath
Season of the Witch
The interesting part is Bungie may have screwed up and revealed the area for next season in the State of the Game
I don't know how powerful xivu is but doesn't sound fair
what
That Crucible map is in the Infinite Forest... which is on Mercury
it's a cruicble map
The final shape is inside the traveler
"gets his hands on"

Thatās grasping for straws
Why drop a narrative detail like that when there was no need and have all the Neomuna vex stuff? lol
"narrative detail" kek
meltdown came back this season
Kinda dumb the fish quest didn't lead to an exotic sword
wheres the mars content?
Who said it was a narrative detail
Itās a fucking crucible map
It'd be funny if the fishing rod was the new sword and it could pull enemies on heavy attack
Location of a map happening in a place that hasnt been seen for years
Crucible maps have lore points of note [Anomaly]
Very very small sample size right there
But yeah, why say that when could just say Vex Network over in Neomuna?
Thatād be a nightmare to program probably but a sweet exotic idea
anomaly ball was just flavor text
and i might as well just argue that we had meltdown but no mars
because vex network would mean all vex shit
and bungie did use 1 line of text to say that it would be disorienting

Well, weāve had lore on the Anomaly and how thatās had major ramifications on scientific development within the Destiny universe, but also yeah itās just a crucible map
Interesting that you guys are so quick to throw down an unusual detail that would agree with arguments made in the past
[Planets returning because of the Nightmare raid and the map room]
There was actual evidence to support that
We knew the planets were returning and the cutscene after the raid told us this
Yeah
Thus my confusion when Bungie seems to be proceeding that route [Dues Ex Machina of Titan returning].. with odd mention of the Infinite Forest being "accesible" again.. but guys are denying it?
The gambit twab people have more sane points than this
Youāre just grasping at a straw because they said a word
Will see later this month heh
Always with the āhehā like it does something
Bro
Jesus christ
āHeh Iām so smart and am totally gonna be right because I noticed one word and that makes my point completely sensibleā
Have you missed where it's basically explicitly confirmed what next season is
It's Savathun v Xivu Arath
Guardians third party on the side of Sav
Savathuns revival yes
But no details on anything that actually would utilize.. and Bungie making it a thing that straight fights with Xivu means Xivu wins
Unless you can figure up some bat shit insane reason for their to be vex network and infinite forest in that kind of season
Straight fight?
We da fuckin guardians
We ball
Have.. you missed all of Sloane dialogues showing all her attempts to counter Xivus plans were failing?
Did she try standing on plates?
Anyway
Be real interesting if they bring back what Vance was investigating before Arrivals with what was happening with the "song" he was checking into
Iām sure she has a tactic
And I wouldnāt be opposed to Sav killing Xivu in a 1v1 on the black terrace
Thinking Xivu commiting sucide after learning the truth myself
Narratively, the space is in the middle of compiling the Infinite Forest,
Admittedly, bemused by this reaction when this was the exact quote in the state of the game
Thatās mostly a lore reason for the weird feature
Because they thought it was too disorienting if it was all blue
if you're gonna talk about a deus ex machina at least learn to spell it right
Hmmm maybe the God of Cunning - yāknow, a descriptor based around essentially finding loopholes - might find a loophole against her sisterās power. Really makes you think, like have actual thoughts
The "God of Cunning" had the truth buried under her nose for millennia and didnt have a clue until we showed her lol

Man, maybe itās like. Even if you are cunning yourself doesnāt mean you arenāt susceptible to trickery yourself. Maybe-just maybe the whole game of lies and truths is wholly dependent on knowledge one has.
Then again, I donāt have to entertain the mullings of someone who grasps for threads thinner than my sanity
And Xivu doesnt have that knowledge either..
Imagine would react badly to hearing the worm truth. Especially as it contradicts the very basis of her faith
A ploy even Savathun couldnt pull
which was literally the entire point of the final mission
pretty sure that was Wolves
Gold star
i like calzones
Neato
How many techeuns are alive at this point in time (lightfall?)
Like 3 I think?
at least 7
And white ones
Whats the job of a techeun again?
And also was it the techeuns who kept riven locked up?
Queen management
they're like mara's group of magic people she has do magic stuff
Also who does mara sov really rule. The only awoken left are her techeuns, her queensguard, and uldren
Thats the only ones I see in the dreaming city. Pretty empty
Full of hive and taken
Sure there are awoken guardians like zavala, (and me) but would mara sov rule over zavala cuz he is awoken?
Oh boy
the awoken don't really live in the dreaming city
they haven't for a while
they have other secret strongholds
what is a techeun and is that how you spell it?
Techeuns are very powerful Awoken "witches" who serve Mara Sov
They are ascribed as "tech witches" lorewise by guardians..
Not really?
Lorwise Awoken tended to the "space elf" isolationists
They existed.. but kept to themselves and restricted access to their territory
ah, gotcha
Even had a case of racism in the Awoken with "Earthborn and Reefborn"
are those the ppl in like dark cloaks with praying hands?
(Earthborn being the ones who directly helped humanity)
that's interesting
earthborn awoken are awoken born on earth
they wouldn't be the ones helping
they'd be the children of those who did
do we know anything about their magic, or whatever it's classified as, and how it works?
Thought applied in general as seen in this entry
https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/of-earth-and-the-reef
ā
Dear Master Ives,
I write to you on behalf of the Cryptarchs of Earth in sympathy for all those who died in service to your Queen. We Earthborn feel your loss and hope this tragedy will usher in a new era. We have made great strides in unraveling a richer and deeper history of Earth and its coloniesāa history buried below merely ordinary truth...
But yeah..
Can see the clear racism that developed
It's vague there. But it seems they harness bits of both light and dark
Season of Defiance had Mara directly help in such a matter by using her abilities to breach Pyramid prisons
that's cool
https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/revanche-v#book-the-awoken-of-the-reef
(Earthborn thing again)
ā
Thus the riven Awoken were riven again, into Reefborn and Earthborn. Those who left went to scour the ruins for lost history and give some succor to their Human cousins who still clung to a hostile world. The Awoken came unto these Humans like nephilim, armed with lost weapons, forgotten industry and medicine. They were like omens of hope, for...
Maras an interesting character to read up on (Queen of the Awoken)
Was quite the bitch at the start of Destiny
But lately she's changed and directly assisting rescue ops of civilians...
she gives off the "i dont wanna take sides but i also dont like to see people get hurt" type vibe
i think one of her more recent bits of dialogue was on that as well
recent being lightfall
Give perspective
Crow has been avoiding her for a while because he can remember(when he was Uldren) how manipulative Mara was to her own brother
uldren was mara's brother right?
Yep
Got killed by us and Petra at end of Forsaken
Got revived as Crow
Memories were restored courtesy of Savathun in season of the Lost
Did humanity ever leave the solar system during the Golden Age?
Nope.
Oooo... Yeah, getting attacked by a godlike entity and its minions would do that
There's a potential one ship made it out of Sol.. but we haven't heard from it
Which one
me
that shit is far
The only ECHO ship that launched ended up on Neomuna
fun fact to ruin your day a bit
The Exodus Green got thanos snapped
even if humanity became a star faring species irl
we would need to achieve lightspeed
to get to alpha centauri in only 4 years
The Exodus Black crashed on Nessus
Yes. But not in significant amounts.
jumpships are one seaters
The Exodus Indigo ended up on Neomuna
Technically speaking Dead Orbit may have escaped Sol
But we have no idea where they are or the current status of the fleet
Neomuna still looks weird to me.
It doesn't fit ANY aesthetic I can think of within Destiny.
thats the point
Got that cyperpunk-synthwave style
Got that style, but it feels strange still...
Like, all the colony ships had that rough but efficient aesthetic to them, and we can see that in the areas they arrived at. Human colonies all look rough but efficient.
Then we got BAM. Neomuna.
I mean to be fair by the time we show up they got fucked by both aliens and the environment
Eh, true.
Still doesn't add up to the neopunk thing they got going on...
Unless they explain it from a lore perspective other than "because it looks good"
which has had like over 1000 years of untouched development
But why did it go in the neopunk direction?
i don't get what you mean by that
With how bad the situation has been for basically everyone, you'd think it would go into a more industrial low-scifi punk theme, instead of a high sci-fi neopunk
Y'know?
It wasn't bad for them?
Everyone getting absolutely trashed by aliens and paracausal beings and neomuna just vibing for the next millenium?... Lucky.
yeah that's sort of the entire point
That is indeed the point
They were concealed by vex interference and Neptune's abysmal weathern
i wasn't exaggerating with the "over 1000 of years of untouched development" thing
it was literally just like that
and also having access to some of the most advanced technology humanity has ever known
being founded by some of the greatest minds of the millennium
So basically we had people who had remnants or complete access to golden age technology, and a millenia to advance said technology in complete isolation from the dangers of the outside solar system... But were also aware to some degree of "shit has gone down"
They were founded as said shit was going down
they just never left the golden age
The first ship was launched because the Augurmind Soteria knew something bad was coming and launched them, then gave the middle finger to Clovis and hijacked the ship instead of letting it return to base
The second ship was quite literally boarded by a Tormentor, managed to eject it into space, and picked up Soteria's distress signal
it's the same reason why rasputin and his tech survived the collapse
neomuna is just a lot better at staying hidden
the only reason they got found out was because the witness forced the traveler to dox them
Yep. They also went out of their way to delete any data that could be traced back to them.
The sole "scouting mission" they did beyond Neomuna was a cover to wipe the data and dispose of Lakshmi
(Why Lakshmi never exposed them is still an open question)
too busy with being racist
Least Veil containment lines there helps with setting the timescale
Cloudstrider mention puts it at least a decade post collapse-neomunas founding
Most likely more.. but that's the bare minimum
Ik something happened to the second ship but I didn't realise it was a Tormenter where was it mentioned? I'm not doubting you I'm just curious
They recovered a glaive from the hull
Never outright said was a Tormentor.. but not much else it could be
Nezarec was likely curbstomped by Savathun at the time
3 meters tall, spear through the bulkhead, arms and legs
Ah ok yeah
"Forced the traveler to dox them" is something I never thought I would read
That made me night a bit better from that sentence alone
kind of a stupid question but do we know how the Vex get places? do they have ships of any kind, do they randomly appear somewhere?
(like on a totally vex-less planet for example)
Actually there's only one example that comes to mind for a large scale appearance
That's from Curse of Osiris, past Mercury
The giant pillars teleporting into the sky
During the introduction mission to the Infinite Forest
vex incursion tells enough, doesnāt it?
same as the old undying invasions
vex themselves, they just open portals and shuffle through
when theyāre actually there to convert a world, though, they need a helluva lot of radiolaria, which is what the big cans are for
itās funky
Listening to the Books of Sorrow, this is really cool
It goes from all biblical to a more standard first person narration
With Vex & Hive speaking to each other in near-casual speech lol
Seth Dickinson, who wrote that, also has his own book series.
are there doghives?
Oh nice
what does this say? definitely not braille, and I have no clue about the ones on the right
It probably has some massive lore implications that would shake our understanding of exos as we know them
Unfortunately I have no clue either
probably "i legally own all of your organs -clovis bray" or something to that effect
The labels for the lungs say "you only need one" and "donate your unnecessary flesh to Bray Exolabs today for $50 credit usable at BrayMart Europa"
Replacing lungs with artificial stuff? Idk
š«
Like programming to feel lungs to dismiss the exo syndrome thing
Why are titans so fat
I think it's more muscle then fat
Have you seen what a deadlifter looks like
Do we know much about the nine
Sentient Space Dust
Tied to the Celestial bodies
they wanna separate from them
Created the emissary
blah blah giving Drifter Faken
Read the lore book Dust
Okay
They posit in the book that they are many different things, but the most probable origin for them is that they are literal sentient space dust brought to life through emergent life in the Sol System
This implies that since the emergence of the smallest protazoa and microorganisms on the planetary bodies, they have existed
The faken Faken are fakin annoying
Oh also they can make Taken from space dust too
Space dust? I thought the Nine were sentient darkmatter.
Space dust-Dark matter, same thing
cosmic dust is litterally all of space technically
everything became something when dust and gasses started collapsing into each other
due to gravity
we dont know what dark matter is doe
Kuzmo, itās a joke
We do
I know what the difference is, Iām just trolling
nu uh
Nobody is telling you though because it's funny
i knew it before you guys did
im not telling
Oh yeah then what is it
If you say you know it and don't say it then you don't know it
I dont make the rules
Yeah thats what I thought
Dark matter is volatile exotic matter at the very least
Until you play avarice
Just from memory thatās what I know it as, if we could realistically contain it we could use it as an exotic fuel source
We talking about engram lore?
Like nuclear energy but no reliable to go kablooey
Dark matter is just a magnet on a stick that we're dangling in front of the galaxy to hold it together
Nah, semantics on Space Dust and Dark Matter
Ah
Dark matter is a bunch of dads with fishing poles at the center of the galaxy reeling in all the planets and stars
in the last stand of the gunslinger cinematic, is there any reason why cayde just stands there and aims at a scorn's head and doesn't take the shot, or is that specific detail just for the purpose of them getting a cool looking shot of him
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vCM5QisTJE at like, 3:36
Destiny 2: Forsaken opens with an explosive jailbreak in the Prison of Elders. As the most notorious outlaws in the system escape their confines, the only thing standing between them and our home is you and Cayde-6, the most legendary Hunter sworn to protect the City.
A Vanguard doesnāt go down without a fight.
Witness Caydeās last stand.
Bu...
You think Cayde takes anything seriously when he know he boutta die?
Nah, heās gotta keep it silly to stay sane
I mean keep in mind just lost his light
If we think back to Red War or Chosen a guardian losing their light even temporariy heavily weakens them physically
Its probably also the reason why he struggles to even hold the gun
That and obviously your ghost dying is a very traumatic event
It's the trope of the boxer who just got absolutely rocked putting his fists back up, showing you aren't backing down and that you're gonna choose to go out like a badass
i figured his hand shaking was because he was probably scared shitless by the prospect of dying permanently
Quite possibly
But he also felt a lot weaker than he has eversince Red War so theres that
Cayde knows he's 100% dead, and that he realistically can't do anything about it.

He composes himself shortly after to bring out a one liner infront of Uldren but maybe he was still too shocked in that moment
His ghost was dead and he was completely jacked up
He got the shit beaten out of him about 30 seconds prior
Like if you had your jaw broken (along with numerous other bones in your body) and then had your source of strength taken away
I'd be shaky too
true true
and another thing
when uldren kills cayde, why does his voice sound like
layered?
Wdym?
particularly when he says "this is going to hurt, a lot" you can hear a quieter voice mirroring his line
kinda like what they do w the witness
where they use multiple voices for it
Probably just because Uldren was corrupted
Yeah thats just his corruption
Mara Sus sounds like that when riven is speaking to uldren as her too
Yes
Under the control of savathun/riven
Is the āFrom the Frontā lore book just stories for each of caitls champions during chosen?
Whoās the Praetorate?
Oh yea so looking at the lore
Ghosts can indeed take on a new guardian
Glint being pork bun and crow saying ānobody in the tower knows you have a new guardianā
Pork Bun never had a guardian prior
He was famously unable to find one
skill issue
Pulled Pork
Bungie do like their consistent themes.
i like calzones
I mean not even consistent, like deadass this is the same story isn't it
does myth have doghives?
so, this goes more into wild theorization territory, but how do you guys think the witness will be defeated in-universe
i mean like
it can rip guardians to shreds with a swipe of its finger
how do you guys think that'll be, yknow
Dealt With
petition
Thundercrash
Given how much we donāt understand about our universe, the possibilities of things in destiny existing in some way or another have some pretty reasonable chances
pretty shitty universe if eververse is going to exist in the future
Itās the same in the sense that the Journey of the Protagonist is in every film and story
like people saying philosopher's stone is the same as a new hope
I mean
In Myth 2 you are losing badly and you have to bring back someone who isn't quite dead literally called the deceiver in order for them to help you win
what does that sound like
Though I will give credit where itās due, Bungie most likely curated their specific Hero Myth for their stories
In Destiny we are losing really badly and we have to bring back the Witch Queen, who might as well be called the Deceiver, in order to... wait a minute
Cycles of dark and light, the leveler and the winnower...
Reminder that Destiny was originally a fantasy game
Like pure fantasy with castles and shit
No sci fi
destiny 2 players when there is a story beat in a game where characters are forced to work with a known enemy to defeat a more powerful enemy who outmatches both parties (it is not a well-known and decently common trope):

Yes but this is literally the same thing, down to the nature of the enemy involved
And Myth has its own winnower
i havent played myth so i have no skin in the game i'm just poking fun
Asha is a āproto wormā right? Which means she used to live in fundament?
Ahsa, and yes
Was debating on how to spell it lol
we are actually, we have the Books of Sorrow canonically
How did she wind up on titan?
she just went there I think
Are we sure whether they orignated there or did Rhulk or the Witness send them
maybe her species has the ability
She just flew through space?
as far as we know, they originated there
I'm thinking she used the Ascendant Plane to travel
she has great psychic powers so I would assume she can heavily influence the Ascendant Plane
How does that work
just think really hard
And then youāre just transported there
maybe
I see I see
I'm assuming that the Ascendant Plane is the concious domain while our world is the physical one
Would nezerac have the same ability as well
for all we know, Nezarec, like Rhulk, never gave a shit about the Ascendant Plane
Ig that answers my next question lol
I was wondering if that could explain his ability to come back to life
you know, this probably means that the Hive were literally the first to actually study the Ascendant Plane and such
because we almost never see anyone else do stuff with it
maybe the Witness was the first to discover it
well, it most likely was
but then you have Hive doing all of this stuff like Throne Worlds with it
There was Mara dialogue back in Defiance about the Ascendant Plane being "ruined" and how the Ley Lines implied it was far greater in the past
which is further proof that the Ascendant Plane is the concious domain
Wouldn't be suprised if the Witness wrecked the place itself
We know darkness use was utilized by a few species the Hive wrecked
The implication to me is the Witness ordering a campaign to remove "heresy" and keep itself as primary source of darkness in the verse
maybe it wants to force a ditchonomy
or however it is spelled
in order to keep us divided
and weakened
The part I focus on is those species must have found Darkness sources other then the Veil
*paracausal darkness sources
unless the darkness they were using wasn't paracausal
or maybe the Veil did visit them previously before the Witness' species found it
Does paint the picture darkness is a lot more... "free to use" then the Light is
Traveler seems like it's the only source.. and can only use it with its "permission"
I STILL HAVE QUESTIONS
ah yes
ok, so the Praetorate were a very corrupt military elite who ruled the Cabal prior to Calus' reign
Also
the Consul had quite a bit to do with this which is why the first thing Calus did as emperor was to castrate him and send him away to the burning wasteland of Torobatl
Calusās archiver (story teller for caitl) what happened to her
Ouch
Ahztja
Close enough
it seems that her fate in unknown
I need to read more cabal lore books
maybe Calus did something bad to her who knows
the Lightfall Collector's edition book on Caiatl is crazy
Probably died somewhere around when ghaul took over
Oh yea thereās real books
lots of Cabal lore, especially on their biology, culture, and society
there's a pdf transcription in the pins
of this very channel
it also has the ones for Ikora and Elsie
since Lightfall has three separate books for its CE
we have those ones too
Iāll get to them at some point
hell, I even have a pdf of the 4th grimoire anthology downloaded for free courtesy of Gjallardays
it's a shame that they peaked with the 2nd and 3rd ones
barracks beau
heh
gender roles in Cabal society being opposite to ours was unexpected, but was pretty funny
@dim minnow did you see what I said about Destiny and Myth
The stories are ridiculously similar, just in different settings
Also interesting consideration regarding Myth & the Leveler vs Destiny and the Winnower
I just want however the game ends, to be less like Game of Thrones S8 and more like Futurama
what does either of those have to do with destiny
hate to break it to you but futurama literally just started up again
It will never end
Game of thrones had a rushed ending with no thought put into it
Futurama HAD a good ending, it knew when it was done and didn't push itself past that
The two worst timelines for d2 are game of thrones and simpsons
anyways d2 isn't ending any time soon
the light and dark saga is
and yeah that should definitely have a good ending
GoT had great story lines, previous seasons ending with phenomenal cliffhangers that you knew wouk lead to a future plot twist, etc. You know, the good shit
Last season, the final hour, where all the multiple story threads and plots would finally converge and character arcs be given send offs
instead, shit just happens
Story arcs that spent years getting built up were either given to other characters seemingly picked at random or outright forgotten
You can literally just not watch the previous 7 seasons and you wouldn't not understand the significance of anything that happens in S8.
It'd be like in our final fight against the witness do we end up even using the darkness in any way
You can literally just not watch the previous 7 seasons and you wouldn't not understand the significance of anything that happens in S8.
It'd be like in our final fight against the witness do we end up even using the darkness in any way
So just high expectations
And savathun dies off screen
no. There's a difference between expecting something more grand and GoT S8
the only thing worse than a bad story is a boring story. Where you make the reader feel as if their time was literally wasted and most of what was spent doing was for nothing
Futurama, despite being a "cartoon" had a reason for plot lines being focused on, and when it gives you the "well that's obviously going to be important later" in fact does
when something happens that is meant to convey an emotional moment, writes it so you can reach the conclusion yourself and let you develop the emotion the writer wants, instead of essentially telling you how you're supposed to feel
look how good and moral Amanda is.
Amanda explodes
Look at how sad everyone is. Aren't you sad too. Yes you are. Much sad.
I mean, I was. I liked Amanda, had for years.
The cutscene that had the most character development with Amanda wasn't even with her
It was with her coffin
And it wasn't even about her, but about Zavala
That's the story manipulating the readers into trying to force you to feel for characters they don't really care about
Xivu Wraths dialogue collecting the secret fragments, just voice lines and she already has more development in 1 dungeon than characters got in 5-7 years
Some good ass voice work and lore
Anyone else remember Hawthorne? Had a interesting PoV of seeing guardians from a ground level civilian perspective
...
Never utilized beyond Red War despite being in the Tower
lore wise no
but she is still the clan stewardess
the most impact her character ever had was when her bird began breaking the fabric of reality
and an important vendor
clans existed perfectly fine before she came along
all she's useful for are raid night bounties
yeah but you cant say "anyone else remember hawthorne"
remember when she wasn't just a mannequin with automated messages?
When she was an actual character indeed....
she also sometimes tells us about things that she definitely shouldn't have permission to know about like a literal hive ship crashing into titan
speaking of which why do dungeon quests exist
