Bungie is definitely getting better with that in some regards, with all of the season pass cosmetics coming back and being available, but there's also a lot that got completely removed without a trace

As I said it's better now, but seeing the amount of people who would ask how to get a specific gun/ship/shader and just being told "Not available anymore, kick rocks" is a little disheartening
