Only way to keep progressing. It'll get easier as you climb but if you're within 30-40 levels of a mission that is the best balance of difficulty and you'll be able to do A grade for the best rewards.

You want the best loot like T4 and T5 gear you gotta work your way through the difficulties.

At 400 your source of going higher comes from prime engram drops.
These are T5 drops that spawn randomly out of chests when you complete activities.
Getting a higher guardian rank increases the chance these drops and the quality of drops in general.
You can also do the solstice armour quests and rewards pass for extra power

450 is the current max power but in ash and iron that'll go up to 550

Conquests are needed for guardian ranks so I'd suggest doing them whenever you need to do them for a rank because again your rank being higher gives you better drops
