Which also means executing the mechanics quickly and without wiping.
And I can't be trusted to do that.
Not to mention that I have a heavy aversion against messing up in front of others - so I avoid getting into such situations.

Sherpa runs are where people are meant to be learning, and everyone fucks up from time to time, even experienced players. Nobody’s going to judge you for not flawlessly executing a mechanic your first or second run of a raid, that’s just unreasonable

I feel you, I’m always worried about screwing up something for my group and stepping out of my comfort zone when I start smth new for the first time, but wipes are normal and nothing to be worried about

For DSC in particular, you can work on the mechanics that appear in the raid in a stress-free environment in the Operation: Seraph Shield exotic mission

It still uses the same buff pickups that you see in the raid, but the mission lacks any wipe timers and is far less threatening, so you can get your bearings and practice working with the buffs before trying the raid out again

I actually did Seraph Shield on Legendary solo - and I still don't know what grabbed me to do that. After that, I got used to going LFG for exotic missions.

And about my DSC run; I had the pleasure to find a group where the leaders wanted a bunch of newbies to figure out the mechanics by themselves.

Lucky me.

That's what made it take 6 hours.
