Well, it isn't particularly efficient for that. The DPS perk combo for Retrofit Escapade is not particularly strong and Target Lock is easy to lose and slow to build.
If you want machine gun DPS, I personally recommend you try Pro Memoria. Reconstruction/Bait and Switch.

Machine Guns still aren't good DPS comparative to other Heavies such as Grenade Launchers, Rocket Launchers, and even Linear Fusion Rifles, and they are certainly not recommended for boss DPS in things like Raids, but if you're going to use it, you might as well use the best option available.
