Already said it a few times on the reddit post in question but I don't feel like we should be shoehorned into running an exotic primary or running finder+scavenger mods, or sometimes both, just to get ammo, which should be a commodity in, ya know, a shooter game

Any time that a fight has to slow to a halt because of purposefully awful ammo drops, causing the players to just ignore mechanics and farm adds for bread crumbs' worth of ammo, is awful

i'm not asking for like, Bricks From Beyond levels of ammo drops, nor do I think ammo should be the way it was during the double special era

But for a player running 1 primary and 1 special, it should drop a bit more naturally than it does, is what i'm trying to get at

from the anecdotes I've heard, it's very 50/50

sometimes players go decades without drops, and other times players are swimming in ammo

very inconsistent

I just hate that we basically HAVE to equip mods on the very crowded Helmet and Legs slots in order to get worthwhile ammo drops

Ammo scarcity shouldn't come at the cost of buildcrafting

And just, getting ammo shouldn't be a PART of buildcrafting

Obviously it would take some testing to make sure it doesn't give too much, trivialize encounters with surpluses of ammo, etc, but yeah, overall just increase the drop rate a bit

With some other minor changes too

Like let ability kills count towards finders maybe

And do away with the "exotic primaries give better drops" thing, just bake that into all of it

afaik the bonus to ammo drops from exotic primaries was a way of Bungie trying to up the usage rate of exotic primaries when they were being used at an all-time low

But now with their huge extra bonus to damage against red bars, they're viable in that way now

the whole system could be so much better, without drowning us in ammo

My overall solution would be

• Remove Ammo Finder mods
• Reduce mod energy cost of Ammo Scavenger mods
• Revamp the base ammo drop system to work like the Ammo Finder Mods, 20-ish kills with weapons or abilities to drop a brick
• Keep double special as it is, where ammo drops are scarcer to compensate for the utility of running two special weapons
• Reduce base ammo drops to give slightly less ammo than old RNG bricks, but a bit more than Ammo Finder bricks, as a middle ground
