in my experience for titans in particular it's mostly the chest piece that changes the most, so it pretty much depends on how you want your character to be like. It's easier to get slim fits with female titans but at the same time if you go into older armor sets you can find armor pieces with large shoulder pauldrons and make them buff af with some of the newer chest pieces that are larger

It’s a pretty common thing in character design to have a color scheme that has bits and pieces of the palette all throughout the character. Rather than just splitting it exactly down the middle horizontally
