It's RNG. No, the game is not bugged for you, or broken, it's simply bad luck.

• Bungie does not publish drop rates.
• We don't know how many estimated runs it will take for a specific item to drop.
• We do not know how much drop-rate-boosting triumphs contribute either, since we don't know the base drop rate.
• Runs are all separate environments. A 1/3 chance does not mean you get the loot you want one out of three times, it just means there is that percentage of chance whenever you run the activity that you get said loot.
• Perks are not weighted. All weapons drop with their perks at the same rate.

Besides that, the current game code and engine has progressed far enough that the old stuff is unusable without recoding and remaking it entirely

Basically none of that is true.

The content was discarded and even if they had it, it's not compatible.

They would have to remake and reprogram all of the lost content, which is a major reason why it wasn't ported over to the new engine in the first place. It was a lot of effort for low-playtime content that most people never interacted with anymore.

Yes, it's a shame. But it is what it is.

I never got to play the red war campaign, but to be real, even if I did, I would just play it once and never again.

If there was more money to be had to do it, they would put the effort in to bring it back.

Also, we know the content was discarded and unusable for a variety of reasons, most recently due to a bogus lawsuit from someone claiming Bungie "stole" their idea for the Red War.

The whole lawsuit is silly and never went anywhere, but we got some extra insight there.

Bungie literally could not provide internal evidence since it wasn't usable content, haha
