The damage from weapon tiers is minmaxing really. If you have strong weapons from before the tier system, they’re likely still strong

if youre high enough power high tiers drop like candy, and more perk slots = easier to farm the godroll

additionally, high tiers have more perks "enhanced", which is a nice stat boost

high tiers are better, just not to the extent they invalidate lower tiers.

June 9th update is refreshing all raid and dungeon gear to be tiered and perk pools

If you remember how in lightfall the ritual weapons would roll more perks the more resets you had

Gear tiers for weapons are basically just that but they also get small stat bumps

And a tier 5 is kind of the adept equivalent now including getting a token stat buff

Raid weapons are about to get refreshed again in a month or two lol

Also they're refreshing them by updating the existing patterns instead of making people refarm the guns again from scratch so there's no harm in getting them rn

Dungeon gear is entirely irrelevant until it's refreshed though outside of the like 3 good dungeon weapons that haven't been power crept yet

The tier system isn't directly related to the power of a weapon though is the key takeway

The newer stuff just replaces the older stuff because every weapon they add has to be a chase weapon now otherwise they don't think it's worth the effort, and ultimately two weapons of the same type with the same perks do the same shit, but the newer one will probably have better overall stats or some new age perk power creep

power is only really relevant to the portal and only really increases through portal

it also doesn't really affect anything in most of that content you mentioned

it's kind of unintuitive but edge of fate came with a power reset back to 10 from 2000

10 power right now is considered effectively the same as 2010 power in the old system, so all that older content you're well above the maximum for already

of the newer content most of it caps out at 200 for the most part other than the portal

renegades is the only dlc of the two this year that actually cares about higher than 200 for its content with gm lawless going up to 400

luckily there is a plethora of negative modifiers that do nothing like: counterfeit, hot step, any faction drop modifier, glass cannon (bugged to actually be a buff), most of the trade-off modifiers (most have no actual downside like volatile shield), hunger modifiers (they forgot to add any downside to these so they only buff your ability regen)
