In order to get the highest levels of gear, you need to run it on the highest difficulty.

Although getting an A through modifiers on Master at 400 power seems odd, but if it happened I guess it happepned..

Luckily when you're around the entry level for a difficulty, you don't have to have as many hard modifiers on to get you to a high score, unlike trying to do it on a lower difficulty.

If you're not sure about your build, I'd suggest looking up one for your class to see if that won't make things easier for you as well.

I wouldn't say Optimal, but I don't know if there's any single Op that's optimal, aside from maybe Caldera and K1 Logistics Solo Ops, but I thought they messed around with them to make them less optimal. I believe the best way to gain power nowadays is to run any activity with bonus loot (green engrams) on them so you can get more chances at getting better power level gear from the drops.

6 man matchmade activity with revive tokens means you are giving 5 other people the opportunity to sell

so things can and often do go poorly

and they arent really balanced around being soloable the way strikes and shit are so they just get annoying

You can pull it from Collections too if you already have it

There's no reason to buy it more than once, you'd be wasting your currency.
You can recreate it via your Collections menu for a significantly cheaper cost if you absolutely need a second one, such as for a second class character.

Exotic weapons only ever drop a single time, even from random Exotic Engram loot. It's only armour you get repeats of, for different stats.

Some few exceptions exist such as Ergo Sum and Hawkmoon

The TL;DR is to come back in the middle of March to ask this question. We're all waiting for information about the future of the game. In theory we'll be getting a new free season thing in Shadow and Order, along with at least two expansions for the next year of content. However, we have no idea when any of that is coming out because we thought we'd have a roadmap about this stuff by now, but it's nowhere in sight. Most people think Shadow and Order is going to get delays until May when we thought it was coming in March, and thus the next expansion is getting delayed, too. Some people think the radio silence is due to Bungie focusing hardcore on Marathon right now, some people think it's Bungie trying to figure out what they're going to do with the game with all the feed back from the major changes they made in Edge of Fate, some people think they're making Destiny 3, but no one knows for sure. The player population is currently at its lowest (really high 100k), so there's still people to pay with (although player population for PVP is in the dumpter), just not the 400k it tended to trend at for a while. The game play and feel is the same as it ever was, but they changed how armor works (for the better I think), so you'll need to get modern armor for good builds again.

Strange coins don't really drop from enemies much anymore and now you just get like 6 per portal activity regardless of length

Plus champions drop them sometimes

I found the best strange coin rates without bug abusing an activity to be pvp, usually comp/trials since the matches are short

Honestly trying to learn all these facts about the system and stuff is probably not even worth it. Better just play and enjoy it. You will get a feel for all of it without it being so convoluted. Just play with whatever looks fun to you and don’t feel like you are missing out on gear. All that will be for the end game and when you get to that point you will have a good enough understanding I’m sure!

Unless you enjoy knowing everything to the point, but still I would recommend enjoying the journey and it will come to you 😁

You will be doing a lot of horde blasting with 2 shots. Back in Destiny 1 it was less like that but now I al running around chain killing everything and it’s super addicting

and every single weak spot using the 3 calibers rule(if the caliber of your again is 3 times larger than the nominal thickness of the enemies armor you will penetrate no matter the angle 100% of the time)

and once they get enough stacks of burn they explode and deal huge amounts of damage to them and anyone around em but they also spread that fire
i have had groups of enemies disappear in secconds all because i connected 2 shots xd then the clusterfuck just
