Excision nowadays is something you just have to wait in queue for until you get enough people into matchmaking, or you LFG for people. I've seen normal Excision launch with 6 people, but I don't know what caused it.

As I was saying, I would say open the tiered engrams because I don't know if they reset on weekly reset and you don't want to miss your chance (I'm also sure they won't upgrade to Tier 5 engrams once you get to that point, too). You have 11 or more engrams because underneath this tiered engram you have 11 world drop engrams that are shard fodder

I don't know, maybe it's wrong, maybe I'm thinking of a different type of Engram, or maybe since you didn't (I think) play during Edge of Fate you can't get the drops (I doubt it though). All I know is that when I open my Tier 5 engrams from Hawthorne I always get old Edge of Fate gear you can't get right now.

Also, if you got thrown into 300 power level pretty quickly, you'll want to make sure you have anti-champion mods/weapons or abilities, otherwise there will be incredibly difficult enemies you are unlikely to kill running around.

How does one obtain such things

The mods are in the seasonal artifact. It will be below your Power weapon; this sesason it looks like a hard drive. When you open it up, the first column will have all anti champion mods that turn certain weapon archetypes into weapons that can stun champions. So if you pick Anti-Barrier Handcannons, Overload Pulse Rifles, and Unstoppable Bows, any weapon classified as a Handcannon, Pulse Rifle, or a Bow will be able to stun Barrier Champs, Overload Champs, and Unstoppable Champs, respectively. Some subclasses have "subclass verbs" that can stun champs too. Things like Suspend on Strand will stun Unstoppables, Jolt on Arc will stun Overloads, and making yourself Radiant on a Solar subclass will any weapons you have that don't have an anti-champ mod turn into an Anti-Barrier weapon for a few seconds.

In order to get more unlocks for the artifact you need to get experience by just killing things and doing Orders and such, so if you can't unlock a few champ mods now, just do some quests and those shouldn't put you into content with Champions in them.

And certain Exotics have intrinisic anti-champ effects (Like Le Monarque is Anti-Overload, Eriana's Vow is Anti-Barrier), which can help too. There are also perks that can cause champ stunning as well, but I'm think you probably don't have a lot of those around, so I would focus on getting the artifact mods first.

You have to use a weapon with Anti-Barrier capabilities. If you open you character and find the triangle symbol on the left, you can see what will stun them when they pop their shield. Or you can open your Artifact and choose an Anti-Barrier mod there like Anti-Barrier Hand Cannon

Yeah, so a few things there. One, you didn't answer the cutthroat question (which would have a significant impact on damage). The other thing is dungeons can be done with fewer than 3 people but you need highly optimized builds if you want to clear bosses in <= 3 phases if you're running without a full fireteam.

Jongo listed the Edge of Fate exotics you can get on Legend. Renegades has a Titan movement exotic that isn't really worth using, the Warlock one is for Strand and is alright, nothing spectacular, and Hunters get a good exotic that works best if you don't take damage for a while.

I think it takes multiple runs to get the catalysts and intrinsics after you get the gun. I think one intrinsic and one catalyst drops when you complete it on Master or above, I don't think they all drop at once. Good rule of thumb is when working on stuff for a campaign, icons on the map that have the same icon as the quest (in the normal quests list, not the featured page) will just about always be related to the campaign

drop power is dependent on your highest equippable power

you can't just make a 50 power jump or whatever

You don't need to do just Pinnacle or Vanguard Ops. As longs as you're playing on the highest difficulty level you can play on in Solo/Fireteam/Pinnacle/Arena/Crucible Ops and getting an A/A+, that is the fastest way to get power.

the loom is only used to convert synthcord into synthweave, if you don't have synthcord (the resource you get from Ada's bounties) the loom is inoperable

I would say if you own the Lightfall and The Final Shape expansions, I would do those first, because they unlock subclasses that will help vary the gameplay throughout the rest of the game. And Beyond Light if you haven't unlocked Stasis, too.

An internet search is suggesting you need to be Guardian Rank 6 to access the loom. I don't know if that's true, but that's the only answer that I've found for this.

Yeah, quickplay is not likely going to give you meaningful power upgrades, you have to do either matchmade content, do customized solo ops, or make your own fireteam for non-solo ops missions. As long as you have anti-champion stunning or abilities, you can do Solo Ops.
