As long as you keep in mind viable and optimal aren't the same thing, then yeah just about everything is viable. The other thing I'd mention as you get into higher difficulty activities (Master, Grandmaster, Ultimate) you'll want to lean more towards optimal over just viable.

So, TL;DR is for what you're doing right now, bows are perfectly fine. As you get into higher difficulty content you'll likely be putting the bow away until/unless you've got nothing better for champions.

It's RNG. No, the game is not bugged for you, or broken, it's simply bad luck.

• Bungie does not publish drop rates.
• We don't know how many estimated runs it will take for a specific item to drop.
• We do not know how much drop-rate-boosting triumphs contribute either, since we don't know the base drop rate.
• Runs are all separate environments. A 1/3 chance does not mean you get the loot you want one out of three times, it just means there is that percentage of chance whenever you run the activity that you get said loot.
• Perks are not weighted. All weapons drop with their perks at the same rate.
