If you’ve done Dual Destiny, whatever perk you selected should be a higher drop chance from all sources as far as I’m aware. It will cost you Strange Coins, but those are relatively easy to farm as well because most, if not all, portal activities give them to you

repeat until you get dominance which is one of the three

Guardian ranks walks you through how the portal works. Do some campaigns or work on quests. All up to you.

Ikora has quests for the light subclasses

As curl recommended, guardian ranks and playing a campaign or two will help you get caught up in terms of the story and the general gameplay experience. If you want to do campaigns chronologically, do Shadowkeep -> beyond light -> Lightfall -> the final shape -> edge of fate. If you don’t care and just want to get the most powerful subclass, skip to final shape and come back and do the rest later.

You can also do the timeline missions to be caught up on the story at a quicker pace

stats above 100 give a separate bonus to the one for stats below it. for instance, 0-100 on melee increases the energy recovery, 100-200 increases the damage. and tier 4 and 5 armour has 11 energy capacity rather than 10

Anyone else having problems with taming the storm step 6 and exalting the flame step 8. Requires to get a grade on a solo ops while wearing specific gear and subclass. It won’t work for me, tried every possible way. Arc subclass on, dudemarchers on, and master difficulty solo ops and got a A+ and it didn’t count, same goes for exalting the flame. “I had this issue but the other way around. I had done the upper hand first and failed the hyperblade one. On subsequent runs I could get extra catalysts for the upper hand but could never get hyperblade to drop (I tried literally everything, I must have ran the mission 6 or 7 times in a row).

You can play just about anything outside of portal now regardless of power level.

Destiny is now fully based around power levels & tiered stuff. That is the new grind. Failure to raise your power just locks you at T3 loot. There are a few ways of earning higher tiered loot at low power though.
