Depends on which source of bonus damage. Generally bonus damage exponentially increases with more sources as they mostly multiply each other (exception being melee damage bonuses which are additive now)

Damage resist is also multiplicative so you wont be able to reach 100% resist no matter how many sources of DR you stack

your real score is around 7.5-8% lower than the projection claims

Well pre-EoF power would increase a large amount with each expansion, & then a smaller amount with each season. The power level got so high it’d take new players weeks to be able to finally play with their friends. So with final shape they added fireteam power, which still exists today.

The plan with year of prophecy was to crunch all numbers in game, so to keep numbers low the only option was to reset them to keep the power grind alive.

Post EoF the content was intended to be the power grind, players hated it so much Bungie practically lost the entire player base.
Which brings us to present day, they’re still trying to bring players back. So the only logical thing to do was to stop pissing off their own player base.
