It depends on if you're a high enough power for what the activity is looking for. If you are then you can use the exotic without doing anything else. If it's not you'll either need to switch pieces out or, if the higher power armor isn't something you'd keep based on it's stats, infuse it into the exotic.

Exotic missions in the portal only have a chance to drop the exotic as long as you get A grade. Exotic missions in the legends tab will guarantee the drop.

if you want you could swap out feed the void as that's more of a neutral game sustain perk
