If you get an item that's higher Power that you don't want to use, just throw it in the vault for now

When you run into activities that are higher power than you when equipping what you want to use for said activity, then infuse

Hey guys, finished the tutorial (except the strike, which wasn't working and I skipped) yesterday and have a couple Qs re: DLC. Would you recommend getting the legacy pack and working through previous DLC, or just the latest? Also, if I get the legacy pack, am I going to be getting better gear as I go a la Diablo, or is all the progression in the latest DLC nowadays? Apologies if I'm not making any sense lol, don't have any idea how the game works atm

From 10-200 Power, basically any content will help you get higher Power gear. From 200-550, Power gains will be exclusively from the Portal which, while a new system, contains almost-exclusively old content.

The new expansion is fairly good, but the way Bungie has set things up, it's arguably the least important to progression that an expansion has ever been in its first months of release. Also, with Legacy 2025 on sale for $15, it's a pretty easy purchase to grab now and worry about Edge of Fate and/or Year of Prophecy later.

It's also worth keeping in mind that there's a 2 additonal categories of paid addons: Reward Passes and Dungeon Keys.

Reward Passes are your fairly standard Season Pass (reward track with a row of free rewards and a row of paid rewards). They cost 1000 Silver when bought piecemeal, but the currently active pass is included with Edge of Fate, and buying the Year of Prophecy gets you all 4 passes for the content year.

Dungeon keys are largely what they sound like. There's 3 of them (related to the Witch Queen, Lightfall, and Final Shape expansions), each granting access to 2 dungeons, and each costing 2000 Silver. Silver basically never goes on sale, so unless you know you want the dungeons right this second, those are the easiest thing to recommend putting off.

Portal's F2P with the exception of (afaik) one Solo Op that requires EoF because it takes place on EoF's location. So you might be occasionally locked out of a focused drop once and a while, but nothing that'd hard block progression entirely

Get those two exotics and just experiment with them. You'll see lots of other people running them as well, inspect those players and see what they're doing compared to what you are.

Hi, i am a new player in Destiny 2, and i have just completed the introduction Questline with Shaw. The next step for me, was to go to the Tower, and bring the Supra thing to Zavala. Sorry for the maybe stupid question. But I stopped playing destiny before the final shape was released. Just after you unlocked the strand ability. I been playing destiny rising and made me want to reinstall Destiny 2. I came back to just 10 light level. Have I been reset. All my exotics are 10 again. Do I have to restart the whole game to gain light level. Or is there a fast way of getting higher power level?

Everyone was reset to 10. The general principle to leveling is the same. Until the soft cap (200) anything drop above your power. Once you hit the soft cap only a limited set of activities can give Powerful rewards. Pre-EoF it was weekly challenges for Powerful and Pinnacle rewards. Post-EoF it's Portal Ops.
